Once a year, the city sends fire inspectors, to check if the smoke and heat detectors are working, and to make sure the fire escapes aren't blocked. I always hated that, because they show up at the ass-crack of dawn. I hate going to bed early and waking up that early and trying to make myself look presentable. There were notices everywhere that they were coming Thursday morning....today. I called the super last night and asked if he stays with them during the inspections. Yes, of course. 'In that case, you can unlock my front door and stay with them. Please don't wake me up.' They were here, and quiet as church mice. They didn't wake me up. I only knew they came because they left the hallway light on. My bldgs fire inspection was done on Monday. Testing the fire alarm was SO LOUD and annoying. It seemed like it lasted so long! I was really glad I didn't have a pet to worry about the sound bothering them, at the time. I sure hope they did something about the stairwell.

Man, some of the people on this cruise need to check themselves. We are on a 3 hour tour, and one couple was pissed snd yelled at the guide because he didn’t take us to the Buddha. The location of the Buddha was a 1.45 hour bus ride which is seen on the 9 hour excursion offered. Does no one look at what they are signing up for? It wasn’t until another couple showed the guide the daily paper that the guide was able to explain where it was.
Then in walking to the shrine, the walkway has these 3’ posts to stop people from driving on the walk. One guy ran into the post snd hit his balls. That had to hurt, but we had been sidestepping these posts for 100 yards. Maybe pay attention? He was pissed at the post, the city and the tour guide and was cussing up a blue streak. We are in someone else’s country, politeness (particularly here) goes a long way.
At least Kobe has free Wi-Fi. We got TD a SIM card thinking I could tether off of it. I can’t.

I've never had tuna noodle casserole. It sounds like it could be good. I love tuna.

Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale, A tale of a fateful trip That started from this tropic port Aboard this tiny ship. The mate was a mighty sailing man, The skipper brave and sure. Five passengers set sail that day For a three hour tour, a three hour tour.

That's what I made for dinner tonight too. Actually, I made it for lunch tomorrow. But I had some of it for dinner tonight. I like it and it's easy.

Good morning, active invisipeeps, completing all manner of chores. Welcome to Friday. Already! I hope your day rewards your efforts and ends with a sigh of contentment. I hope no one pees on your pancakes. Today I'm determined to somehow complete the replacement of my kitchen cabinet knobs and drawer pulls and clean the cabinets themselves. The old knobs in two of the doors have screws that can't be budged. It's as though someone set them in epoxy (or iron!) but there's no sign of glue. THe knobs themselves come off with no problem but the screws to which they were attached are going nowhere. I have tried every way I can think of to dislodge them. DH also gave it a try. After 60 odd years I think they just don't want to go. Older houses again. The new knobs look much better where I was successful. Also today, organizing, framing and matting prints for the show a week from Saturday unless every moment is spent trying to dislodge the old screws. We'll see. And my second phone number, local to Massachusetts, is now active on my phone. It's good for the business use. Yesterday was cloudy and at the end rainy. However, before the sun was due to rise, we had some beautiful color in the clouds:

Some are lovely, but some are exhausting. (Fortunately, the good greatly outnumber the not-so-good. But they do make their presence known.)

raeoflyte , what do you put on top? I was raised putting croutons on top. It's definitely cheap. I added up what it cost and patted myself on the back for saving probably $100 compared to dc requested Italian restaurant takeout. And that doesn't even count leftovers. I put a light topping of bread crumbs on it last night and was relieved no one complained. We're really weird though. Dh usually makes it in summer when it's too hot to actually bake since we dont have central air. In summer dh assembles noodles and tuna and then everything else is Ala Carte - cheese, veggies, crushed up funyuns/chips. Bread crumbs only work imo in a traditional casserole. I'll have to try croutons though. I'd like it.

I need to not be doing things this weekend. I know "no" is a complete sentence. And someone needs to step up. And DH and I always do. (It's mostly self-interest driven; so does that count? I dunno) Also giving my self a gold star for creating said report that is basically me going

I am worn out. I have no f's to give. So please, don't ask for them. Or ask for them, and I will tell you I am all out. Weltz, I had to laugh at the Gilligan's Island Theme Song, but I am wondering if my Kids (30&27) would even recognize it. My DD's Birthday is today. We went out to dinner last night (DH, DS, his DG, DD and me). We went to a Supper Club. DH wanted to go there. I had Salmon, I think everyone else had some kind of steak. Very good, but my IBSD acted up about 3 am, so I was up for an hour or so. Since I don't know exactly how food was prepared, not sure of the cause. DH got his old car fixed finally. It was in the driveway all through the pandemic in a not quite working state. It was not a lack of $$, just a lack of time to deal with it. At this point, it might be nice to have wheels for DD to use when she is home on occasion, but I think DH is going to sell it b/c it is still worth a good amount of $$, but might not do so well if it is just sitting in the driveway for long periods of time unused. I think DD is going to be home for a day here and there next month, But she has a very full schedule next month. She is hitting her monthly earnings goal without picking up trips for her on call days. She is on call at least 5 days. I am going to run to Macy's on my lunch hour. There is a pair of shoes I saw online, but I would like to try them on, before purchasing. Gotta go. Have a funeral for a former co-woker this afternoon, so we will probably close the office at 3 ish.

Been to the eye doctor early this morning. The dilation is finally wearing off.
No new prescription even though there has been a change in vision because there is a medical problem that needs to be dealt with first. So I have eyedrops to use until the next appointment, which is more testing. At least this is all considered medical. Then doctor will determine what needs to be done with my right eye. It's the same issue I have had laser surgery on before. Now it won't cost a fortune, but I definitely need a driver if that is what happens.
I did not realize why I have been dreading this appointment so much. I realized it when I was there. I remembered all the horrible detail of the eye doctor I took my dad to when the doctor could not or would not comprehend that dad was profoundly hard of hearing and had dementia and could not follow directions he couldn't hear. It was a horrible flashback to that terrible day. I guess I had pushed the memory down but it certainly appeared today.

90 year old cousin's house closed this morning. She is going to treat herself to a new power recliner. I told her niece I think she should treat herself to something and that is a great thing for her to have. Her niece is taking her shopping this afternoon.
Now it's time to make her apartment her home. There is no going back to her former house. It no longer belongs to her

I would totally eat it. For some reason I can't make it myself. It's supposedly the easiest thing to make, but it never comes out right for me.

I had a peanut butter banana truffle called the Sneaky Elvis from a local candy store.
Seriously tempted to get more that was way better than I was expecting.
I don't need it. I'll end up like it's namesake if I eat enough of them.

I have been binging the newest TS double album. Going out with the neighbors on their boat this afternoon. Just taking it easy for the next few hours. I got a bit too much sun yesterday.
