Opti, Sorry that your dad is in hospital. ERs are so busy that answering phones is probably low priority Can your sister go to the hospital? Blizzard conditions plus her shifts are tougher and more variable than mine. Plus I have a feeling she's on the entire weekend. So I'm going to try to call after work tomorrow and see what I can do. Maybe I can take some burden off of her by talking to a doctor or nurse. Or getting them to call me back. IDK. Hopeful. But I know its dad's show so anything could happen.

Son and grandson came over. DIL was cooking stuff to take to her sisters tomorrow. I think they are celebrating either russian Christmas or New Years, something like that.
Little guy is going to art class in the morning so I need to have him ready. That's ok, I love having him, he will be back afterwards. Our last weekend together for awhile. He is a good little kid while here. I swear the minute son and DIL leave he has a switch to good, LOL!
Son has sure changed a lot and for the better, even DIL says that. I think his wild years are behind him. Don't even think he drinks much of anything anymore nor her either. That will make them be nicer to each other, ask me how I know. Son is coughing like grandson and I have been, hope it doesn't take a month or more for them to get rid of it. I still get coughing fits ever so often, not pleasant.
He has been ice skating 3 times so far and is picking it up well. Wish I could do something like that but poor feet and ankles would not let me. It will help him a lot with balance. And drawing plus painting should help him write better also. His mom is good that she offers him all kinds of opportunities, hope some of them stick.
I love the new stove. My cake baked all even and not with part raised and part not, food cooked good too. But it will take a bit of getting used to as it is different. But how in the world will I keep the black glass cooktop clean and not streaked? Need to buy some of the cleaner, maybe that will help. I need to read and see if I can use glass cleaner on it when it is cool.
It is now 18 out but we are warm in here. The electric furnace is kicking off and on thankfully and not running full time. Hope we don't lose electric power though as here I have no gas backup or anything, would have to go to sons.

I am sorry about this. You will see your money again. If I were you, I would not unfreeze the accounts. Keeping them frozen would have prevented this from happening. It's not hard to unfreeze them. You lost me. I don't see how you can function if your primary bank account is frozen. That's where the breach was. And I'm not sure that wasn't collateral damage to the credit card the hacker was trying to use. That credit card was already open. Since it was connected to the bank account, changing the address on the credit card probably changed my address on the bank account. I closed that credit card account since I don't even use it. If you mean the credit bureau freezes, no one tried to open a credit card. The hacker tried to use one that was already open. Will the credit bureau freeze prevent adding an authorized user or change of address? I am curious. But, yes, those I am leaving since I have enough credit. If you mean, Vanguard and American Express, these are total freezes. To unfreeze Vanguard, I have to send a notarized statement by snail mail. That won't be very convenient. American Express is easier since it just requires a phone call. And, yes, I will see my money again. Just not this weekend. I believe the freezes will prevent that and alert the account issuer. Someone tried to open an account in the name of a dead priest and my Boulder address. Because of the freeze, they couldn't and I was informed. The credit union has a note on my account that they have to ask for my secret word and it has to be exact for them to talk to anyone calling about my account. I don't plan to open any new credit lines, but if I need to, I get the creditor to tell me which company they use and unfreeze just that one company. I'm usually told to leave it unfrozen for a week. I can set it up so it freezes again in a month. No your accounts are frozen for the weekend. I hope you have a credit card that you can use. I don't have accounts with places like Vanguard so I don't know how those work. I go through the credit bureau to freeze and unfreeze my credit. I have never called the creditor to do it.

DH asked me to stay home today due to weather conditions. I have had issues with my left shoulder for 2-3 years, but could use it with care. I was doing laundry this am after DH bathed both dogs in laundry room. I stepped into a box (unintentionally), and tripped. I landed hard on my left shoulder. I would have been better off to drive in the snow. I did some dishes and walked dogs, fed rabbits and went to grocery store. I shoveled the walk just a bit. DH worked today, then came home, cooked dinner and went out to shovel. He just finished.
He will have to go do his parents in the am. It is supposed to freeze in the late morning.

Good morning, weather bound invisipeeps, keeping the lights and heat on. Welcome to Saturday. I hope this day offers an opportunity that you take to frolic. Frolicking is good for the soul. I slept late today, until after 6, after fending off a headache all day yesterday. It's just as well. The wind is howling and throwing buckets of rain off. I think the headache is now gone for the duration. Yesterday I noticed the price of gas had beat the $3.00 barrier by a penny. Good thing. My property taxes and property and auto insurance have gone up as of 1/1 by $hundreds each. Health insurance also up by a bankable margin, also effective 1/1. So January is an expensive month. Today we're going to a gallery show opening in the afternoon, after the storm slinks off. I've got a bigger piece in this show, 44" x 16". Got my hair cut yesterday and saw DSis, taking care of her grands. Her 4yo GD can whistle! She's been practicing. And the 2yo GS talks up a storm now. The sun came through at dawn yesterday, boldly.

My 13 neice has her 3rd and final spec oly bball game of the season about an hour away from me. Today's high is 12 but no snow or ice. Do the rules about not driving if you don't have to still apply since we have cell phones to call for roadside help? I'd pack blankets and whatever else you all say that I need to be able to go.

I would go azucena. The others have good lists of stuff to throw in the car. I would add a portable phone charger if you have one.
Had a nice dinner out with DH last night. Came home and finished baking stuff. Dad's girlfriend tested positive for covid this morning. That cancels the planned late Christmas gathering on Sunday.
Now I'm trying to distribute 20 mini cheesecakes and 34 dinner rolls among DH's local family.
I'm sad and pissed. We planned this out, made everyone commit to a date, made a menu and now nothing.

The usual busy Saturday cleaning, swim practice and chore run. All on no caffeine because I race tomorrow and could always use a decent sleep the night before.

Today I am on layer three before even getting to the insulated coveralls. It's 14 out, but there are 40mph winds so nasty wind chill. I have also not touched a shovel or the snowblower yet since we started getting snow on Tuesday, so unless the Gods of Drifting were on my side I'm in for a lot of fun getting the driveway cleared this morning. Just waiting for my Fitbit to charge up a bit. Not going to get all this massive amount of exercise and steps without it being tracked.

susana1954 I am so sorry you are having to go through this nightmare. I'm also glad you became aware of the fraud before your entire bank account was drained. I appreciate you telling your story here so we can all think about safeguarding our own accounts.

finnime I love today's photo! The colors are awesome and the multiple textures really cool - rippling water, foamy accumulation at the shoreline, plus clumpy seaweed on striated sand.

I've just been wearing my fall/spring coat. The sun is shining, which is something.

We have now moved into the "prepping for 1st grade" phase of kindy.
Which involves homework. Now, I am grateful that is like 10 minutes once a week, and not 45 minutes a night like other folks have had.
And it is still so very, very painful.
Thankfully done is all they are looking for at this point.

But I check weather again and we will be in the 50's by Wednesday or Thursday so all is well. I can't begin to imagine the amount of snow and cold I'm reading about but just hope every one stays warm, safe and doesn't lose power during all this cold.

The shoveling and clearing my driveway does. I have prepped by pre-loading with 3 ibuprofen before I head out. Wish me luck!

I'm shocked the Chiefs game is still going on. It's at night and the windchill is supposed to be -30*. The Miami players aren't going to be ready. I'm going to watch it from the warm house.

We will be warm briefly this afternoon, then back to cold. I have some outdoor stuff to get done, so I'm front loading coffee and will be ready when it warms up!

Dad in hospital with UTI and Sepsis. On phone hoping to find out more. Text was a couple hours ago. Sorry to read this, Opti. You've talked here about his recent health challenges. I hope they can get this one sorted out quickly.

Aww crap pickles. It's cold enough that when dad bumped the screen door the glass shattered into a million pieces.
Yay winter!

Somebody posted in the Jeep group, asking how they can arrange rides for their staff when it snows Monday. The 2 people that replied were much nicer than I expected, because that is a snarky bunch.
I wasn’t even out there giving rides and risking my safety and my Jeep, I helped coordinate things from the comfort of my home, and it still aggravates me that people clearly misunderstood what it was and why the Jeepers did it.
It was a one time thing, in 2021, to help keep the hospitals staffed by getting the nurses and other employees to work and back home. The spirit of it was to show appreciation for what they’d been through with the pandemic.
But ever since then, people seem to be entitled to it and keep asking. And now somebody is asking these kind hearted people to risk themselves and their personal property to get their employees to work to staff his rehabilitation facility. Really?!

You know. I was just telling DH this morning about how things are just always shitty for me.
I had 3 hours of nice this morning, before I was like JFC.

The snow has stopped falling. We got another 9.6 inches.
I can't go anywhere until the snow guy plows me out. There's a 6th drift on the drive and I can't get out.
Roads out here are still Travel Not Advised.
DN3 sent me a text that he is not coming to get his stuff today. Somehow they loaded the UHaul in the blizzard but didn't empty it last night. Said the roads were a sheet of ice and it wasn't fun driving the UHaul. They did spend the night in their new house.
I have a genealogy class online this afternoon and a basketball game this evening.
I need food and Maddow is on my lap trying to tell me it's nap time. I need food first.
