Good morning! I'm late getting on here even though the boy had me up at 2:45 this morning. I got sidetracked with playing games and then already did my biking for the day. I need to get my shower taken, a couple things done around the house, and then head out to spend some time with dad.
Hoping you all have a terrific Tuesday!
This made me chuckle. At one point yesterday I thought it was Thursday.

This made me chuckle. At one point yesterday I thought it was Thursday. DH is usually the one who screws up what day it is. I still blame the boy for waking me up so early and confusing me! Today I checked the calendar just to make certain I had it right!

I made the 5am logan express bus, woo! I'll have time to grab something for breakfast when I get to the airport. and coffee. 😴 today's been expensive already, yikes. I hate airports for that reason. breakfast was a tasty bagel with smoked salmon and veggie fixins with coffee, $27 with tip at Davio's - the lines for DD 🤢 and Starbucks were wrapped around the terminal. nothing else was open yet whatever. now, I'm sitting at ATL waiting on my friends to pick me up, and I ordered a mimosa while I camp out with my laptop. $17 for a dinky little mimosa. 😳 That's airport prices for ya. It's insane!

Reason #45 why it's fun to have a four year old. You spend the morning discussing what animals people's flatulence sounds like. DH: Toots Missy: That sounds like a bee....buzzzzz Later DH: Toots Missy: What does that sound like? Me: A moose? Missy: A duck?
Missy: A cow! Later Missy: Toots Me: Oh, that was a quack.

Devil dog is on an allergy diet now to try to work through the GI, ear, and malabsorption issues he has. It's been about 4 weeks and he is wild. If this is him feeling well I don't know how we will survive him. Hoping dh gets his neuter scheduled asap just in case that calms him down a bit.

Moon Shadow is now quiet in the box cover with a towel covering him for warmth and hiding. He's less than thrilled with my lack of grocery shopping. This morning he got some day lily stalks and some dandelion greens instead of romaine lettuce. So, to stop the complaining and quiet him down, he's in a sort of time out. Once he's in there, he is not all that happy to be moved prematurely. I think he likes the security of the sides of the box plus the warmth of the towel.

Been busy, have my normal morning tasks done. I'm starting tamales, cooking meat today. One 5 pound piece of pork that will cook down. Likely will have to get another out of the freezer, the instant pot is full at the moment. I'm thinking I should buy a fresh bag of masa, I have one in the closet that expired end of last year, would hate to do all that work and have them taste off because of it. It's cheap enough and think I will. Have my seasoning and corn shucks. This is calling for 1 pound of lard to make 5 dozen tamales. I'm pretty sure I didn't use lard the last time in my masa, crisco maybe? Seems like all I had to do was add water?? Gosh its been a year and I don't remember. Will look at various recipes because that isn't good for us. Does it taste good ohhhhh yes, but not good for us. I won't be making these till tomorrow. I want to get out a big kettle this time so I can steam them all at once then get them ready for the freezer. Will put 6 to a package though mine are not huge so hubs could eat a dozen on his own, LOL! Used to be I could too, no more.
I'm getting ready to put on a pot of fresh green beans to cook, they are broke and I'm washing them. Will add bacon and salt and this time a bit of onion. Had some the other day with onion and they were really good. Then I'm making deviled eggs, I boiled them last night.
Also may make some ham salad, DD loves it so she can have sandwiches for a few days for lunch.
I may chop onions for the freezer, got a bag of vadalia's yesterday. So plenty of work to do, for sure.
PA and I talked about my ozempic. I told her the increased dose was not good for my gut, so I am still doing the .5mg. Told her I need to have will power anyway to maintain so might as well get used to it. She reduced it back down, she told me they are now making 2 mg syringes available, like wow, don't know how someone could use it. It really reduces gut motility, so bad for someone like me.

Got in a rather vicious debate with DH over the Supreme Court. He's sorta pro choice but said some very sexist stuff in regards to the topic.
I finally said as a white dude you have NEVER had to fear someone taking away your body autonomy and what that means. So fuck off you have no right to interject your judgements on the subject.
I was VERY proud of Gwen though. She's been following it and we had a very grown up discussion on it.

How about we have mandatory vasectomies at age 13 and then require a sign off from the man's wife in order to get it reversed? Too much government overreach? My body my choice? WTFE.

Yeah that's what it came down to. I said you have no right to decide someone's life for them because you think they need to "learn" from it. Boys can just as easily keep it in their pants. If not then if you want me punished for my"stupidty" then you should be too because I can't make a baby without a penis. I haven't been that mad at him over a political topic in a long time. I'm still mad.

Grabbed a breakfast Jack at the Box and swept thru 2 grocery stores. I might get a burst of energy later and wipe down all the leather furniture with conditioner.

DH got mad at me a couple of years ago when I said "Oooo look, the white male suddenly has something to fight for". He had been complaining about local government proposed gun sanctions. (I will admit that our state does already require EXTENSIVE background checks for purchases.)
He didn't get it. This was the only time he has EVER paid attention to politics, and again - only this issue because it affected HIM. I asked him if he knew how many states had basically issued a zero abortion laws. Crickets. I told him to get back to me when some old woman wants to make decisions about what you can and can not do with your own body. It eventually got through to him. I was still mad.

Never have I had a stronger sense of irony than when I watched local white dudes protesting masks and vaccinations while holding signs saying my body my choice.
I almost choked to death in the cloud of privilege.

Looking for my concentration. I must be burned out again. Mine is also from keeping an eye on our active (almost) 9 month old DD and trying to work at the same time. She’s taking a nap though. Hopefully for a bit because she needs it!

On our way out of Vienna. We are definitely going to have to go back. What an incredible city to visit, and we barely scratched the surface, despite how busy we have been. Both days, we have had 2 excursions and barely have time to get back, grab whatever we need and get back off the ship. The Vienna’s Boys Choir was utterly fabulous. They put on a private concert for us for about an hour, answered questions and talked about how they work. All of the boys are between 10-14, and are from all over the world. One little French boy (Sebastian….he is the 4th from the left, front row in the pic I posted on FB) has a voice that will blow you out of the water it is so powerful. They have a fall tour planned in the US, and there is supposed to be a tour of China this summer….but likely canceled. There are 4 groups of 20-25 boys, all equally good and they try to keep the cohorts together the 4 years they are in the choir. Budapest tomorrow. That’s our last full day on the ship.

I guess I pissed off the underwriter. Oh well. If you think I'm so rude then just get stuff done so I don't have to be rude.

Deviled eggs are done, DD ate some for lunch, she loves them. I had half of one. Then I deep fried me some smelts, half as many as I generally do. I'm leaning portion control. I can eat and eat, not now but before and I'm sure it will be that way again. Control is hard.
Cooked the first piece of meat in the instant pot, have another to do soon as it cools down enough to open, didn't release pressure this time, letting it cook more. I decided to get a new bag of masa, don't want to take the chance of ruining them.
Hubs is taking a nap after his shower, it's raining again. He and the neighbor just got the big rocks placed and done just before it rained. Even with the back hoe lifting them, they had to use chains, I would hate to say how much they weigh. The one out here several hundred pounds I'm sure. They apparently fell off the road down the bluff to the river so needed to be disposed of, adds a pretty touch to our landscaping. We have one in the corner area of the house and one by the driveway.

Eating some cherries before I go update my I bonds, curious how they are doing. Only 1 or 2 months behind.
I'm getting sleepy watching hubs nap.
I will sew tonight, have a new book and want to start on it. That diverts me away from any work, sigh.
Beans and potatoes done. Should I make ham salad, probably, easy dinner.
When this instant pot of pork is done and cooled, will start shredding, then will mix with seasoning and simmer so will be ready for tomorrow.
I'm guessing Smoke got shut in the garage again, he follows hubs out there and he doesn't realize it. Since it's raining I would expect him inside and he is not. Tiggy is in his perch asleep. Guess I can trudge out and check when I go get the mail.

For whatever reason I woke up way too early. Then I decided I might as well hit the road.
When the GPS gave me the ETA is was 12:30 PM. I knew I couldn't get in to my room at that time.
Killed quite a bit of time at various rest stops and walked. It felt so good to be walking rather than sitting in the car and driving.
SW Pennsylvania and Virginia are beautiful. Never been to this part of Pennsylvania before.
No problems at the border getting in. I have license plates for the college I graduated from. The agent said he had never seen those before and asked me what state and what they stood for. I'm guessing he pulled up if Iowa has those? Let me through quickly.

Back from a whole lot of errands- all in Independence, MO, which is the town right next to mine and VERY spread-out.
My trash collection company no longer picks up recyclables (yes, they DID reduce their charges after that change) so I ventured up to a place that accepts them- about 4 miles north of here. They even take glass. That's a bit of a relief- I had a couple of month's worth of paper and plastic sitting around and it's gone. Not a big hassle to do that every couple of months.
Home Depot- KN95 masks (needed to enter some tourist attractions in Germany, most notably Neuschwanstein Castle) and furnace filters. Probably good for the plane, too.
Picked up protein bars at Big Lots- they're not 100% nutritionally virtuous but will be good on my trip for times when I want some sustenance and there's nothing available around me except candy bars and chips.
Stocked up on veggies at the grocery store and dropped off plastic bag bits (left over from making the mats I crochet from plastic grocery bags) to recycle.
Bought 2 replacement plants- ghost pepper and Carolina Reaper- to replace ones I planted a bit too early that died. I've already planted them.
I'm REALLY tired but happy to have all that off my To Do list.

I have to cancel my knitting class. <sigh> Bummer. Well. I thought it was. They are going to move it, as I am the only person that signed up. If that doesn't work, I'm going to put the money towards three private lessons. I'm going to figure out socks one way or another.
