I called son to see if he wanted some lunch. He said not right now, he took NyQuil and was trying to sleep, maybe later.  He was glad to be home. He said I would have gone but its not up there on my list, so nice to be home.

Of all the groceries I bought I need some more Crisco and some reynolds wrap. I have a convenience store right across my fence so can drive over there and get some. They are well supplied with everything. It is amazing to me to live close to everything, I never have. At home would have been a 25 mile round trip to get something like that. I love it and I told hubs as we get where we can't drive so much this is great. Most of the drive is country, maybe the last mile or 2 is more city traffic and even then could go around some side roads if needed. Everything we need is right here. I love it. I still think we can find a house here in Tumwater somewhere that will work for us. Just have to be here and have the cash in hand to make the offer. Now if I can get him moving we will be ok.  Even an ER 10 minutes away and the fire department at the end of our street maybe a 1/4 mile.

Christmas Eve dinner is in the oven (prime rib and baked potato, garlic bread to go in later) and we’ve opened our fancy bottle of wine. Our football team won (Detroit Lions), my H is trouncing me at cards, and we’re watching the Taylor swift movie. Oh, and the rain stopped a few hours ago so we got a walk in. All in all, it’s a nice Christmas Eve in the Flamingo house.

It is nice to have things close. The two main grocery stores are about 3 miles or so from me. I can walk to another Spanish grocery store. I think I will buy some frozen cassava soon there as the fresh root last time was about three pounds. I wish Whole Foods and Trader Joes were closer to the bus stops. Have not been at Whole Foods except once since the BMW tow accident.

Did Christmas Eve service virtually. Was grateful they filmed the part where everyone goes outside and sings one last Christmas song. Beautiful in person and looked pretty good over Zoom too.

Going to do hair and wind down as I barely slept last night. Turns out part of it was due to my uneven hydration so not so bad. Putting up some Christmas things tonight, but not much. Finally got the wreath on the door. Do not know if I tossed the wreath hanger as I have not found it. I have something on the door for other seasonal things I hang there, so for now it seems OK. 

Being home by myself makes me want to shop for things I need, but I also need to chill. Not sure if FMLA will go through or go through timely.

I hope you find the house of your dreams.  You have shared with us here that you don't want to move but recognize the necessity to provide care for your daughter, so that surely complicates the decision-making process.  Sometimes as adults we just have to fake it until we make it.

I'm sorry you got injured but at the same time I'm glad you had this incredibly bad/good Christmas moment with your family.  Does that make any sense at all

      An old friend of mine bought herself & her daughter a pair of inline skates.  (She lives on a hill.)  She "tried" them out, without wearing any protective gear, and she managed to break a bone in her arm.  She never wore those skates again.  

      I'm glad you're basically ok.  Praying you didn't break anything.

Since DIL doesn't want white flour, I bought  King Arthur. I think Bob's Red Mill has a better one as this is brown.  It's just ground wheat so different. I forgot that I need to add more liquid to these when I bake. It's doesn't say so anywhere but it makes baked goods dryer. I made 2 loaves of banana bread and seem awfully dry to me. I wish I had added a few tablespoons of milk but didn't. I will make sure to add a bit more moisture to the cookies.

I'm stopping for a bit, showering and kicking back for about an hour.

I have deviled eggs made, the broth boiled and made for noodles, its good. Bread broken for dressing, turkey thawed and back in fridge. I baked the game hen since I didn't need it for broth, wrapped and put in fridge. Had to make a run for reynolds wrap, kleenex, and Crisco. 

I've cleaned my kitchen and will be ready for making cookies and noodles soon. It doesn't seem like it but been working all day. I'm thinking of prepping my baked beans and mac and cheese, but than I don't have room in this small fridge. I don't think I have ever had to cope with one so small. Hubs said had to use it till it quits. If we both get up here there is no way we can deal with this. The space won't fit a huge one but larger than this one. Ok time out for a bit.

I don't think we have animals loose around here as I have left trash on the step before and nothing has bothered it.

They called from the emergency clinic and said my chest xray was clear. But if I had more issues would be best if I went to the ER. I was going to anyway if I have to go again. Just hate to get in those busy places and set for hours on end getting exposed to more and more illnesses.

I am not baking more cookies tonight. The one batch of sugar cookies made 42. I told DD I will make other kinds later.

I don't have any white flour for noodles I just realized. Never made them out of straight wheat flour before, concerned what they will taste like, guess I could make a few and see.  I don't like making things for a dinner I have not tried before.

I am pretty much done for today. Have cooked all day. I'm better but my breathing still gets pretty squeaky at times.  Have been overusing the inhaler a bit, need to slack off. My nose is running like a faucet now, jeez.

Refrigerator temp is 40°.  The temp will drop down a few degrees tonight.  

It's 53 here!  First time we've not been able to keep the beer out on the deck for the Christmas Eve party because it was too warm.  Tomorrow is supposed to be even warmer.
