I have been to the grocer and DD and I have things we like to eat. We also stopped at Burger King, its a new one and burgers were not very hot. I told them but they didn't offer different ones, just they would tell the cooks, that's ok, they were done. Got home, took our pills. It was a late start, after sleeping so much yesterday I went to bed super late last night, sigh. I am raising a half dozen of Rhodes rolls, DD and I like those things, I don't have a muffin tin here so can't bake more, I need to pick one up tomorrow, along with a heating pad, epsom salts and Vaseline bath beads for DD. My lower ribs on the outsides are really hurting me, wish I had picked up a heating pad this evening, but it was cold and raining out so came on home. Cleaned her bathtub, sink, and commode and my sink and countertop. I have mopping and vaccuming to do tomorrow. Have not done much cleaning since being here. It's not bad but needs done. Right now I'm breaking green beans, going to fix a kettle of them with bacon, water, and salt and let them cook down. LOVE fresh green beans cooked this way. Got mac salad and potato salad for DD and sushi, also have shrimp for her, she loves all that stuff. So we are in warm and comfy, its 7 here so the evening is still young. I intend to eat some rolls tonight. I don't care if they are mainly air. I like them with butter and later some beans. Going to read later tonight a book called Standing at the Gate. And after apocalypse saga. I'm kind of down tonight, miss hubs a lot, miss my kitties too. I just wish he would come too. I don't understand why he thinks he can't, its winter, he doesn't have all the houses to care for now and we could bring the cats. I don't know, he is hard to deal with. I would want to be with what family I have. How did the paint job in your shower turn out? I remember you painted it with some marine paint.

Well, Amazon, being Amazon, moved my delivery up to today. But, I've already got a box on the front porch going to the DAV. Praying the DAV doesn't accidentally take my Amazon purchase. (Yes, the stuff for the DAV is marked "DAV".)

Need to get moving. Going for a porch pick up on a high chair for the holiday. That is the last piece of kid gear we need. DH and I have been collecting toddler stuff since we got here. The twins and their parents are planning to be here Saturday.
Also time to thaw the brick of a turkey I have in the freezer.

I had a little different experience with Christmas letters. My EXSIL sent them to me and son after I divorced her brother. Over the years she would ask my son for my address. One year son told me Aunt Barbara asked him why I moved around so much. Me: and your answer was ?? Son: I told her you were running from the law. End of Christmas letters. My dad doesn't like taking pictures and will run when a camera comes out. If you ask him why he'll tell you he was on America's Most Wanted in the 70s. He's so full of it. I caught an interview recently on one of the local channels, but I guess it made national news if CNN has it. lol.. linkbut basically, that wasn't a bullshit excuse for this family. here's the start of the article in the link - ***************************************************************************** On his deathbed, her father told her a secret: He was a fugitive and had robbed a bank in Ohio Thomas Randele was dying of lung cancer and had a secret. In March of 2021, with his daughter at his bedside in suburban Boston after his first chemotherapy session, he made a stunning confession: He was a fugitive, and had been one for more than five decades. More than 50 years earlier, when he was 20 years old, he’d robbed an Ohio bank of $215,000. And his real name was not Thomas Randele but Theodore Conrad. He implored his daughter not to look into the case. But after this bombshell revelation, Ashley Randele didn’t sleep much that night. So she did what most curious people would do. “I’m alone in my childhood bedroom, and I Googled ‘Ted Conrad missing,’ and the first thing that came up said something like, ‘Vault teller robs bank.’ I was like, ‘Oh my God, this is my dad,’” she told CNN. “And there were hundreds and hundreds of articles about him.” With every click, her father’s dark past unspooled before her eyes. In Lynnfield, Massachusetts, Thomas Randele was a car salesman and a country club golf pro who adored his wife and only child. He doted on his daughter and showed up for her soccer games in khaki pants and fast cars. In an ironic twist, he also donated to local police charities and spent hours watching “NCIS” and other crime shows, his daughter said. But back in Cleveland, he was Ted Conrad, an elusive bank robber. He was barely out of his teens when he’d pulled off one of the largest heists in Ohio history — the equivalent of $1.7 million today — inspired by his favorite movie, “The Thomas Crown Affair.”

(Yes, the stuff for the DAV is marked "DAV".) I just got a text message from them that a "Problem has occurred" with a couple of my orders. One is just brake fluid so not a big deal, but the other one is a gift that was supposed to be here yesterday.

Just finished putting together a care package of ornaments. I have a friend who has been displaying some signs of depression. She went to the ER recently as a result of expired medication. I'm not a doctor, but I thought the reason we don't take expired medication was because it is less effective, not that they would react with other regularly used medications. Again, I'm not a doctor, so what do I know. Anyway, she called me Saturday and asked to come over. Cool, I'm down to chill at home. She made some comments about how she worries too much about what other people think about her. We talked about that. She said meet me was a blessing and she has been hugging me lately and telling me she loves me. I'm worried that she may do something to herself. I've heard that people do that before they end things. She was talking about how her family doesn't really celebrate holidays and she needs a Christmas tree but doesn't have the money. I have an old one that I was going to throw away, so I said she could have it. There's nothing wrong with it, I just bought a bigger one. She said she tried to find ornaments at the dollar tree, but didn't find any. I have a ridiculous amount of ornaments, so I put a decent amount of them together too. I'll take them over tomorrow. I hope she's ok. Varies by medication, specifically molecular structure and formulation. My pharmacy just does a blanket pitch after 1 year but drug stability varies quite a lot. Penicillin/cephalosporin antibiotics are surprisingly stable, but some drugs partially or wholly decompose on extended standing. A decomposition product will have a slightly to somewhat different molecular structure and there is no guarantee that it will retain any of its original activity-it might, it might not. One hopes that there is a tendency to avoid drug structures that can decompose into actively harmful products but I’m not personally aware of any specific regulations along those lines. Drug companies run extensive studies and know exactly what the shelf life and decomp pathways are but to the best of my knowledge they don’t publish that or make the info easy to find Well, I have some very old Maxalt in the cupboard. I did not throw it away b/c I know it is ridiculously expensive. It was prescribed for DD when she was in HS and she is 26. I guess I should get rid of it. Glad to hear jersey guy is doing better, sorry to hear about the flooding. Giramomma - what's up? You didn't get laid off, did you? Zib, I am also glad to see you posting more. Welcome back. Daisylu, hope you feel better soon, sorry about the carpal tunnel issues. As I shared yesterday, I still have virtually no Christmas Shopping done yet. I did however order myself an apple watch this am. In other news, my living room furniture was on the front walkway when I left this am. DH had someone who was hopefully coming to get it. If not, it will go to the later this week, or I will schedule a special pick up for $50.00 for Friday. It is 2 sofas with motors in them for the recliners. The motors make them very heavy. If DH takes to the himself, he may have to disassemble. We also have a chair that has to go. We purchased new furniture a long time ago. We just did not bring it home b/c we were going to replace the carpet. I told DH I am not having Christmas with the furniture we have so, we are going to take delivery on the new furniture. Problem with existing furniture was I thought it was leather with bonded leather on the sides, but it seems to be cracking and shedding everywhere. It was about 6 years old. Big mistake purchasing that. DH swept the crap off the carpet, and then I vacuumed. He is going to wash the carpets tonight and pick up the new furniture tomorrow night. Andi you are a good friend. Finnimie, as always, your pictures are beautiful.

I meant to ask about watching "The Boys in the Boat" on Christmas Day. It looks like it will be on Amazon Prime, will we be able to watch it Christmas Day? DD also has Hulu and we have Spectrum as well... so open to other suggestions. I think we will have a relatively small group, so a movie might be a good thing to do. I am open to other suggestions too. DH, DS and his SO, DD and maybe a friend of hers. Her cousin and possibly her little boy (our great nephew). My BIL and My Mom. My in-laws if they will agree to come.
The other option is family games, but I haven't played cards in about 30-40 years.

It was 4 years ago today that I lost my dad. It still hurts. I miss him. I have pretty much pushed the dementia years out of my mind but they pop up at times. Today is one of those times.
The sun is shining and that helps my mood.
Not doing a lot today. I do have 3 webinars today. I might not do the one in the middle because it's a sales pitch.

It hurt last night at my birthday dinner. We had a really good time and I like my dad's SO but at least to me it was very obvious my mom wasn't there. I did not expect to be celebrating my 40th birthday without her.

My cohort at work that always calls in on Fridays was promoted. Well, really they created a new job title for her because she's always done something totally not related to quality as her primary duty. Anyhow, she's going to be salary now. She'll never be here! Between being able to work from home and unlimited PTO she's essentially a part-timer now.

My MIL passed away Saturday at 100 yo. We had a big birthday party in September in our yard and she really enjoyed herself. Then things went down hill with an inoperable bowel blockage and 2 weeks in Hospice without food or water. My wife is holding up well but she's keeping busy with arrangements. Picture and obit are on fb and I see some of you have seen it. Thanks

Hourly workers are limited to 4 weeks vacation (after 15 years) and 48 hours sick time, so I imagine if a salary person was taking way more than that it would get noticed eventually. Most of the people I know take LESS with unlimited, but I don't know if she'll be one of them. LOL

Rizatriptan is generic now and the price has gone down quite a bit-I think list price was close to $300 when I filled it 8ish years ago and closer to $20 full price this year with the HDHP. I’d definitely pitch it.
