Just finished putting together a care package of ornaments. I have a friend who has been displaying some signs of depression. She went to the ER recently as a result of expired medication. I'm not a doctor, but I thought the reason we don't take expired medication was because it is less effective, not that they would react with other regularly used medications. Again, I'm not a doctor, so what do I know. Anyway, she called me Saturday and asked to come over. Cool, I'm down to chill at home. She made some comments about how she worries too much about what other people think about her. We talked about that. She said meet me was a blessing and she has been hugging me lately and telling me she loves me. I'm worried that she may do something to herself. I've heard that people do that before they end things. She was talking about how her family doesn't really celebrate holidays and she needs a Christmas tree but doesn't have the money. I have an old one that I was going to throw away, so I said she could have it. There's nothing wrong with it, I just bought a bigger one. She said she tried to find ornaments at the dollar tree, but didn't find any. I have a ridiculous amount of ornaments, so I put a decent amount of them together too. I'll take them over tomorrow. I hope she's ok. You are a good friend. I will be sending good thoughts your friend's way.

Tonight has not been for sleeping. Made a cup of Sleepytime tea at 1230. Slept for a bit, but then woke up in a sweat. DH will be out of the house today, which is a blessing as I have calls all day long. Wednesday is my last day until the new year, but I will have to login occasionally as I have a huge presentation the day we come back. I made plans to visit my mom Thursday. Maybe that will get me out of my funk.

Oh, like the one where they tell you they will have to cut short their vacation in the south of France to make their child's graduation (with honors, of course) and by the way, said child is getting a full ride to an Ivy League school. And they are going to be so stressed because they must move out of their $2 million mansion for 6 months while it's completely upgraded into a $4 million mansion? It's so hard to find good contractors these days, you know I had a little different experience with Christmas letters. My EXSIL sent them to me and son after I divorced her brother. Over the years she would ask my son for my address. One year son told me Aunt Barbara asked him why I moved around so much. Me: and your answer was ?? Son: I told her you were running from the law. End of Christmas letters. I your son.

Good morning, able invisipeeps, dextrously multi-tasking on your way to the holidays. Welcome to Tuesday. One week to Boxing Day for those who celebrate. I hope your today is productive and not draining, and that you get only mail that is a pleasure to read. I'm so glad your DH is mending, jerseygirl. But, I'm sorry about your flooded basement. You have enough on your plate already. The talk of humidifiers reminds me my DM used to put pans of water on top of the radiators when I was a child. I have radiators in this house but they're different, much slimmer and don't hiss or get as hot as those I remember. I like the coziness they emit. Today I'm going to clear out Stuff and clean up. I'm definitely right in the bottom middle in terms of organized cleanliness in our home. It's clean enough to be no health hazard at all, but messy. We have too many activities and interests and too little convenient storage. I finally got the bird's nest cookies done yesterday. THey are awesome. We have a whole suite of various jams, and I used 4 different ones, one per dozen cookies. I used beach plum, cherry, blueberry and raspberry. They're so good. They may not make it to Monday. Other than that, I finished wrapping DH's and DD's presents and waited out a large storm. Found part of someone's Christmas tree blown into our front yard. Due to the storms, I'm posting a picture I took on Saturday well before dawn that I really like, with the sky glowing red at the edge. You may have seen it on FB:

Good morning!
I didn’t sleep well last night. I was a slug all day yesterday because my stomach was bothering me. Not the usual just thank goodness, it was just a bit unhappy. So now I have a million things I need to do today. I doubt all of it will actually get done.

Morning all. jerseygirl Good news about jerseyguy. Sorry about the water and phone issues. Not much going on. Frustrated because the traffic cameras are not loading and not sure what my ride to work will look like. Oh well need to get moving so I can make sure I leave some extra travel time.

Most of the night was spent trying to throw up but nothing coming up. Sipped on Gatorade this morning and that came back up. And my carpal tunnel is acting up, which means I am wearing braces on both wrists. Have not been able to eat anything in order to take pain meds yet.
I really need this work break.

Girding my loins to keep my temper for the board meeting this morning. Pray for me. I’ve decided to say very little and not resign but quietly circumvent the shenanigans.

He had some really good replies when his dad and EXIL would question him about what I was doing. He didn’t feel it was any of their business so he came up with some real beauts over time. They finally quit asking.

I kept some crackers and water down. Took ES Tylenol for now. The prescription pain killer usually makes me throw up, even with taking the adjacent script that is supposed to prevent it. I would just be happy if my hands would stop cramping.
And DH tweaked something in his back this morning while he was getting ready. He still went hunting with his buddy. Not sure if he will last all day though. Surprised that he did not take his own vehicle so that he could leave if he needed to - which likely means that he will be a hard head about staying all day and will be in double the pain tonight.

I hope she's ok. Varies by medication, specifically molecular structure and formulation. My pharmacy just does a blanket pitch after 1 year but drug stability varies quite a lot. Penicillin/cephalosporin antibiotics are surprisingly stable, but some drugs partially or wholly decompose on extended standing. A decomposition product will have a slightly to somewhat different molecular structure and there is no guarantee that it will retain any of its original activity-it might, it might not. One hopes that there is a tendency to avoid drug structures that can decompose into actively harmful products but I’m not personally aware of any specific regulations along those lines. Drug companies run extensive studies and know exactly what the shelf life and decomp pathways are but to the best of my knowledge they don’t publish that or make the info easy to find

I'm kind of down tonight, miss hubs a lot, miss my kitties too. I just wish he would come too. I don't understand why he thinks he can't, its winter, he doesn't have all the houses to care for now and we could bring the cats. I don't know, he is hard to deal with. I would want to be with what family I have. I don't know if this will help, CG. Your husband reminds me of my dad, in some ways. My dad never was one for keeping up family relationships. We didn't visit his brother/my cousins very often. I was young when my grandma died, 6, so I don't remember how often we saw them, maybe twice a year? Christmas and Easter. He didn't even call much. My dad didn't even really make an effort with my husband. And while we were still interacting, we had to practically beg my dad to come spend time with DS and us when DS was little. (Mom was busy that day). I don't think it was all my mom and their dysfunctional relationship. I think that, in part, that is how he was wired.

I am always amazed at how many high level associates in factories scavenge for free food. I am talking people who were making well over 6 figures in a VLCOLA some 20 years ago. Vultures was exact word to describe them. They were always hovering around meetings that they were not involved in so that they could get some free bagels as soon as the meeting broke up. Seriously?

DH swears you could dip turds in chocolate and the vultures at his work would eat it up.
I need to get moving today. I'm off this week. I need to get my desk area or actually that third of the dining area cleaned up.

When I was working, I frequently found my lunch taken by the chair of the clinical division. I finally confronted him about it, telling him that he made 10x my salary, I could not afford to feed him my lunch. He at least had the grace to pay for my lunch that day, and kept his grimy paws off of it afterwards.

Well, STEALING someone's lunch is a lot different than scavenging from the conference room after a meeting. They have cameras all over our break room and have fired people for that.

Last night, I got into a huge sneezing jag. I much have sneezed 30x. It should have been a cue to dose up on Benedryl, as I woke up at 5 am, needing to pee, my head congested and eyeballs itching. We need a hard freeze. The temp has been hovering in the high 40s.
Got our passports back last night. Along with the visa for Vietnam, there is also an affidavit signifying we have adequate health insurance attached to our passport. First time I have ever seen this kind of a legal document.

It is a fine line between having an interdependent marriage, and a marriage where each person does their own thing and really marriage is about living efficiently with another person. I know I haven't been married half as long as you, and it is something that I see DH and I struggling with for our whole marriage. That's exactly the situation with my DH. I was always the one who pushed calls, visits, cards etc., partly because I didn't have family and desperately wanted one. DH had/has minimal interest in relationships, family or otherwise. There was no hostility between him and his family for the most part, just very separate lives and value systems. While most of his family is gone now, he does get the occasional email from a cousin but chooses not to reply which is his right.
