Hope jerseyguy has a smooth recovery.
Just opened up a CD since I determined I am not going to do the vinyl plank flooring for a long while.
Back to cleaning for the cleaners.

I'm sorry so many are having illnesses, falls, and all the other assorted miseries in their lives.
Even though we have issues, I think we have been very fortunate in our lives and our current life, so far. We are hoping hubs makes it through this ok, it could be worse. I will be positive and say we will get through it.
We are still fairly active so feel comfortable in that. I was climbing my ladder yesterday I put up the lights on the fence, its a bit too tall to reach the top so I only had to climb about 1 step. Now I have to take one string down and return them because half the lights didn't come on, drat. I should have checked before putting them up so I'm mad at me. The red ones are fine. So need to do that.
DIL is taking little guy to piano lessons, I hope he likes them and can do them. His dad bought him a keyboard a year or two ago. They think they have found a good teacher, I hope so. I so wanted to take piano lessons and other things growing up and got to do nothing. My folks never had the money, but they did have money for beer. But others here know how that is. I had plenty to eat and clothes that were ok, just none of the extras till I went to college.

Here I figure about $180 in the winter, which is likely half of the first month we were here. The HVAC people said it would go down that much and it has. Not unhappy with either. The low bill at home helps us afford this.

Weird weather conditions going on here. Had to kick and curse my front door to get out.
Best wishes for Jersey guy (will need to read later)
Glad it is getting dark so I can rest a little. Realized I hadn't shared financing plans about the new to me car, and that might or might not change people's opinions. I will have to release the dead carcass of my BMW to whomever by the end of this year. Yesterday I did find out the process, which includes filling out a form without having my plates in hand, to basically make them null and void. The usual 6 points of ID and appointments suggested. I have yet to schedule my tooth extraction or even speak to an oral surgeon. (Yay holidays). But I will get one of the composite fillings fixed b4 Sunday.
Since my claim won't be settled AND I am working without pay in order to not get fired ... and hopefully keep my income stream into 2024. I may no longer have a down payment for whatever car I buy. I do plan to use the max 6 yr financing for underfunded people for used cars, as I will need it. I hope I will pay it off b4 then, but need to prepare for if that does not happen ... so no crazy balloon payments for me.
I had been hoping to put about $2K down and finance the rest over 6 years. Unless AAA claims feels the Christmas spirit bigly, whatever settlement I get will probably buy half a used car. So it better last more than a couple years. I would like it to last more than the 6 years of small payments. And six years is a long time to drive something I don't like. YMMV.

Summary - Getting title to my paid off BMW
Will turn in license plates without having them physically in hand. Plan is to get this done before year end,
Have no vehicle. No access to vehicles, just friends in similar crappy situations or better off church folk.
In other news,
$20 in gas money plus a $5 dollar bill allowed me to return the Chukka boots that did not fit. In a surprise move, it was refunded to my card. To no surprise to me, I spent most of the return on long lasting tees on sale (2) and food at the specialty grocer. I think I did not spend the entire refund. Hopefully left 6 or so untouched.

Brown bread is nothing more than wheat bread. When I grind wheat at home, I bake brown or whole wheat bread. Okay, now I get it. I had never heard that term for whole wheat bread. We always buy whole grain breads, sometimes wheat and sometimes a combination of grains-we like the texture, taste and nutritional profile.

I was all over the place checking them out. Only because new to me brand. I only see “designed” in North Carolina. Unless I overlooked it I never could see where “made in”. Not that it matters. Just find it odd as can usually find where manufactured. I even did a made in google search and out of 9 links all said designed in NC. Again not that it matters since not in market. But they did have 5 star reviews all over the place on all sights I saw!

Jerseyguy fell yesterday and broke his hip. Probably surgery this afternoon or tomorrow morning. Very discouraging as his blood values are getting near normal and he was feeling stronger and happier. ODS spoke to ortho at the hospital and surgery won’t be too bad but he’ll be in rehab for quite a while DD had same break about 10 yrs ago . She had an accident mountain biking up in Vermont. She’s driving down and will be here through the weekend. Drinking coffee and had a cherry turnover for breakfast. Didn’t sleep well last night. I'm so sorry to hear this.

I feel like total poop. DD2 asked me if I want her to buy some gifts for her daugters. I said yes. Please. I was I the hospital, at Christmas time, when I got my tonsils out, as a kid. I won't be surprised if I end up in the hospital, soon. Not my Christmas wish. I hope not. I haven't read any other pages. Thinking of you all. If you are still feeling that bad, please call your doctor. Just want you to feel better. I think I feel lots better than some of the other people on here. I just wish whoever is hitting me in the head with an axe, would stop. Every time I cough, it feels like they whack me. So far, I'm hanging in there still.

I'm still writing Christmas cards today, but my handwriting isn't looking so good right now, so I might take a break. It's our own fault, I suppose, for sending out so many, but our friends & family are so spread out that this seems to be the best way to keep track of everyone. Do you write an annual Christmas letter? Do you do ecards with any of your list? Asking as I haven't done a large mailing in years, but did buy 20 Xmas wildlife stamps, so 19 might grace Christmas card envelopes.

It seems as if I'm on the downswing with the positive feelings about work. It is not good.
I'm starting to run out of patience.

OAN, it seems that my job will be changing our time again, basically to the evening shift. That will make me VERY unhappy. VERY, VERY UNHAPPY. The part that pisses me off the most is that my (reputable) sources tell me that they keep changing our hours because our shift is the shift that gets the most work done, even though the other shifts have more people. I won’t be specific here, I’ll just say that a lot of shenanigans go on on the evening and night shift, which is why not much work gets done. Those of us on the day shift are older, and have gotten to a place in life where most of us aren’t willing to risk our livelihoods for some of the crap that goes on on the other shifts. So instead of addressing the real problems, they prefer to just keep trying to use those of us that actually do our jobs, to make up for all the ones that don’t. That is very different from just adjusting to the timing of what needs to be done at what time, and adjusting schedules accordingly. It feels more like being punished for actually doing your job and giving them a day’s work for a day’s pay. That is not going to go over well, at all. It’s not just me that will have an issue with why they keep messing with us. Weren't you working evenings before they put you on days?

I worked in rehab for a while and we had many patients who broke their hips. Rehab will take a while, but if he listens to his physiotherapists and does the exercises, he'll be OK.

Oh and we got our newest light bill at the house $24!!. I knew the light company didn't have it together the first couple of years, they just got it right I think last fall and then in the spring all the stuff working right. Since then we have saved a fortune, so if we were there the full 10 years we would get our money back. Wow, and didn't even have to use the 600 banked kwh's, awesome. Here I figure about $180 in the winter, which is likely half of the first month we were here. The HVAC people said it would go down that much and it has. Not unhappy with either. The low bill at home helps us afford this. That's really awesome! So far this month we have cable and internet $290, electric $90, cell phones $225. The water/sewer bill should arrive in a few days and will probably be in the $120 range. The extended warm temps here have kept water/sewer costs and electric (for A/C) higher than usual.

I'm weaning myself off the gabapentin. Last time, I fell and gave myself a massive black eye and now I fell and broke my face. The bad cuts and scrapes are healing nicely with liberal applications of aloe vera. I won't be healed by Christmas. I don't even go outside, because I look like I've been in a bar fight.....and lost.

They didn’t “put me on days”, I finally had enough seniority to get a job on the day shift. My first 2 years there, I worked days, even though it was not a guaranteed job assignment, things just worked out in my favor for those first 2 years. I hated working evenings the entire 13 years I did it. It was not my preference to work that shift, it was just that the income from the job provided a comfortable lifestyle for me and my children, so I sucked it up IRT the funky work schedule because of the pay, and the fact that I had a couple of little people depending on me to provide for them. I have also always worked weekends. Working evenings and weekends sucks if you desire to live a life that is halfway in step with the rest of society. Working days and weekends like I do now, sucks too, but at least evenings are free for family stuff and socializing. I’m not sure what you think any of that has to do with what’s going on now though, just because I worked evenings until I was able to get a job on the day shift. There are actually some other things going on with them wanting to change our hours again, that are violations of the contracts we have. I just chose not to spell it all out, because I don’t want to bore people here with all those details, even more than I already have.

I only do a Christmas letter for those folks who I don't get to see during the year. We usually send out around 100 cards. We don't do ecards, as most of the folks we know really don't like them.

I asked Mister an hour or so ago what he thought we’d have for dinner. He went on a tangent about how he has to be true to himself, and I was home all day today, so did it not occur to me to make plans for dinner.
Actually, it did occur to me, and my option was takeout from a specific restaurant. I know there is frozen food in the chest freezer in the storage room, but there’s not anything to make a meal with in the freezer in the kitchen. I’ve made it clear that I’m not fooling with the freezer in the storage room anymore, because I literally have to climb over a bunch of shit to even get to the freezer. I am NOT exaggerating about having to climb over shit. The storage room is very small, and there is a recliner from his parents’ house in there, the bags of stuff he brought home that was in his Mom’s hospital room when she passed, 2 lawn mowers, other lawn equipment, his HVAC shit, and just a lot of random shit in there. And the freezer is on the back wall, with no path to get to it, because of all the shit that’s on the floor and stacked up.
When I spent all that money on the shelving system for the garage, it was to try to organize shit in the garage and what he had stored in the storage room, but all it really did was give him more room to pile even more shit in the garage and storage room.
So NO, I don’t fool with the freezer in the storage room to try to find something to cook, because I can’t even get to it. Clear a path to it, and I will!
It makes me SO mad that he tries to judge me for shit he feels like I should do, but don’t, and doesn’t acknowledge the part he plays in WHY I don’t do those things.
I am not arguing with him about shit anymore. As far as dinner for tonight goes, I told him to pick something from the restaurant I’d chosen to order from. He did, then sent me money through Apple Pay, to pay for it. Part of me wanted to make the point that I don’t need his fucking money for me to eat, but another part of me said don’t be a damn fool, if he is willing to pay for it, let him.
UGHHHHHH!

Pink Cashmere I feel awful about the change in your work hours, not just because of what it does to your body and your life, but also because it sounds oddly punitive in that the better your team does, the more screwed they are. I think you said that the powers that be respond to lack of capability and productivity on other teams by pushing more workload on your team. Nope, not right at all. I don't know Mister and your relationship with him other than through your words here, but the relationship sounds increasingly toxic. I hope that the days ahead provide a resolution that gives you more peace in your life.

Cookies Galore - please tell me you got to see Margaret Atwood speak today?! another friend is there, and she posted a picture. also, I didn't know this convention was a thing until you mentioned it recently. can you kick me in the ass next year if it's a thing again? I would have loved to go to this! Oh let me tell you! Yes, I saw Margaret Atwood speak. She was absolutely hilarious, brilliant, and insightful. Jacinda Ardern was amazing. I lucked into an assigned table four rows from the stage (and to the right side). I always attend the PA Conference for Women in Philly, but there was extra professional development money in the budget this year so I got to travel for the MA Conference. There's also a CA and TX conference series. I absolutely recommend it; I've been attending since 2018 (virtual during the pandemic) and it is always a great experience. Walked to Trillium once I was all conferenced out, so now I have visited breweries in 10 states. Forty to go! Watching Wheel and Jeopardy in my hotel room now. Fly home tomorrow.
