My goodness you folks have been busy! NomoreDramaQ1015 - sorry to hear that your job has turned so toxic. I have my fingers crossed that the position at the other company works out for you. It sounds so promising so I have all my fingers and toes crossed for you! daisylu I'm still laughing at swamp 's reply to your early morning findings! She is exactly right, somebody certainly had a whole lotta fun last night..... bean29 I'm sorry to hear about your mom's driving. It is really hard to deal with aging parents. Something about being a child that is now having to look at their parent with a different perspective that emphasizes all their shortcomings and what they can no longer do, can be so rough sometimes. TheOtherMe I'm glad you were able to connect with your half sister. I know you've said there are a lot of emotions to untangle, so I wish you peace as you move through that process. We are all here for you if you need us. countrygirl2 I'm sorry to here that things are a bit bumpy right now with DIL. I do think raeoflyte gave you some sage advice about deciding what things you can accept and deciding which things you need to set strong boundaries with. At the end of the day, just remember you do love your family even if you don't always understand or see eye to eye with what they do. As long as you remember that, you will find a way to navigate these bumps. Pink Cashmere I missed your birthday! Wishing you a very happy, yet very belated birthday! toomuchreality I hope you are feeling better. Pneumonia is nothing to mess around with. Lots of hugs, or high fives, to everyone else I missed. I tried to catch up the best I could.

OAN, it seems that my job will be changing our time again, basically to the evening shift. That will make me VERY unhappy. VERY, VERY UNHAPPY. The part that pisses me off the most is that my (reputable) sources tell me that they keep changing our hours because our shift is the shift that gets the most work done, even though the other shifts have more people. I won’t be specific here, I’ll just say that a lot of shenanigans go on on the evening and night shift, which is why not much work gets done. Those of us on the day shift are older, and have gotten to a place in life where most of us aren’t willing to risk our livelihoods for some of the crap that goes on on the other shifts. So instead of addressing the real problems, they prefer to just keep trying to use those of us that actually do our jobs, to make up for all the ones that don’t. That is very different from just adjusting to the timing of what needs to be done at what time, and adjusting schedules accordingly. It feels more like being punished for actually doing your job and giving them a day’s work for a day’s pay. That is not going to go over well, at all. It’s not just me that will have an issue with why they keep messing with us. Sorry. If I had to guess someone in mgmt or the bean counters are screwing around with the people on your shift because they don't understand why you are so efficient. Just a guess from crap that has happened to me in various jobs.

Our library has a 3D printer at at least one branch. Free to use with a current library card and they charge a nominal amount for filament if you don't have your own. Great way for people, especially younger people, to use it and see how it all works without having to spend a ton of money. What? Wants to go visit Marion and go to the library for the 3D printer. I don't know man, I live in a red state. Not a place most folks like to visit given the current political climate. Despite that, we do actually have a really good public library system. Multiple branches across the county in order to be easy accessible to all people (physical distance is an issue so lots of branches placed around the community is a big deal around here). They always have all kinds of different activities. Book clubs. Kids activities - and not just standard story time. Movie nights. Chess club. Craft club. Game nights. All kinds of stuff. This one branch that has the 3D printer also has what they call a Maker Space. You can like use a Cricut to cut things. And they have a button maker where you can make like button that you pin on your shirt. Laminators. Some other stuff that I'm not remembering. There are 2 or 3 other branches that have similar Maker Space, they just don't have the 3D printers at those branches. Basically our library service actually has a lot of wonderful things for the public despite the book banning push in red states. I'm sorry. That last sentence was political. I didn't mean to. I try not to bring politics here to this thread. It's just one of those things that frustrates me some times. Please forgive my political indiscretion.

I took my down day very seriously. I watched 2 movies and took a 3 hour nap. Outside of one load of laundry and unloading the dishwasher, that was about the extent of my accomplishments.
No regrets. Although tomorrow might suck at work.

It feels more like being punished for actually doing your job and giving them a day’s work for a day’s pay. That is not going to go over well, at all. It’s not just me that will have an issue with why they keep messing with us. That really sucks. They have over the years had my group do all kinds of crap that is totally not our job. Their answer: but you guys seem to know everything. Well, dumbass director, how do you think others are going to learn if we just do everything you don't know how to do? Sigh. Working for a living just sucks, mostly.
My job, the work itself, isn’t even that complicated. It’s just physically demanding and the environment is toxic more often than not. Not just in my building, but across the nation. I am kind of pissy because I am even still thinking about my job. I prefer to just do my 8 and skate…. And not even think about my job until it’s time for me to prepare for going to work the next morning before I go to bed. I get paid to do, not to think, so once I get out of prison (drive off the parking lot), my job isn’t even on my radar anymore. I still haven’t even figured out how to make my “new” hours fit my life. I don’t have to be at work before the crack of dawn anymore, but I am still often awake way too early in the morning. Right now, I’ve been awake since 4am. I gave up and got out of bed at 5am, even though I didn’t have to be at work until several hours later. But idk how much of that is due to my insomnia bullshit vs that being the time I needed to be awake for work for the last 10 years. If I end up not working days again, I am very likely to start hating my job again. It might be worth it to start working OT again if it will mean I’m done with my job for sure in 6 years. But then there is the issue that I’ve put my eggs in a basket with Mister, and I’m not sure I can even work enough OT to overcome that within 6 years, if I start over soon. I wouldn’t be starting from scratch, but it’s still a whole lot of shit I’d need to make happen in a short amount of time. On one hand, I acknowledge all of the ways that I am blessed and have so much to be grateful for. On the other hand, I’m like SHIT, really?!

countrygirl2 That brown bread you recommended sounded so good, but I checked the nutrition label and a tiny 1/2" thick slice contains 14 grams of sugar while the American Heart Association recommends no more than 36 grams per day for women so I'll have to give it a pass. It could make a nice holiday treat though and thanks for telling us about it. ETA: My bad - the recommendation for women is only 25 grams. It's 36 grams for the men Dave's Powerseed bread is the one you want. I love that one. www.daveskillerbread.com/powerseed

Ditto the excellent library system here. 3D printers are available in three of our branches. We have six branches plus a separate genealogy/local history building. Like yours all kinds of stuff going on. I use their laminating service from time to time too. Don’t use library as much as used too but I know I can get help if I’m researching something and need help. Research dept is awesome and employees are super helpful.

I just smacked the shit out of Jackson and I didn't mean to. I put on my coat and took trash out. When I came back in I did that thing where you shake off your coat sleeves. I didn't know he was walking past me and I hit him kinda hard on top of his head. He looked at me like WTF?! I kissed the top of his head, so it's all better, right?

Just finished making a grocery list. A mix of menu planning regular meals for the next week or so along with holiday meal planning and holiday baking. We will go grocery shopping tomorrow, so I'll check the list again tomorrow morning. I'm a little cross-eyed at the moment going back and forth between regular menu/holiday menu coupled with comparing weekly ads from 4 different grocery stores. This is one thing I don't enjoy. DH had a very generous employee discount at the store he used to work at so I never had to coordinate menus with sales. I'm a bit rusty. I can do it, I'm just a little out of practice so it can be a bit much some days. Marion! Nice to see you! How's Brooks Anderson? *Never mind. I saw your other post.*

I feel like total poop. DD2 asked me if I want her to buy some gifts for her daugters. I said yes. Please. I was I the hospital, at Christmas time, when I got my tonsils out, as a kid.
I won't be surprised if I end up in the hospital, soon. Not my Christmas wish. I hope not.
I haven't read any other pages.
Thinking of you all.

Good morning, engaged invisipeeps, moving ahead with daily life plus holiday plans. Welcome to Thursday, 10 brick and mortar shopping days until Christmas for those who celebrate. I hope this day sees your health improve and your jobs simplify and become less onerous and arbitrary. And that you enjoy some simple pleasure: a candle, a candy, a cavorting cat or dog, cozy socks or uplifting clarity in your plans and goals, beets. Today we will be doing some holiday sight seeing in the area and taking photos of the bright lights. And, damnit, I will be making cookies: neapolitan and jam thumbprint. Plus cleaning up some, and wrapping presents, and, and . . .I need to fix a clog in the vacuum cleaner and also get Nino going. I'm sorry you're not fully on the mend, toomuchreality . And for your fall, weltz . And for your problematic and arbitrary change in hours, Pink Cashmere . Hope you enjoyed your day OOO, chiver78 . Good to see you, MarionTh230 . Hope all ends well with the sped meeting, lurkyloo . And that your canine clientele are well behaved, raeoflyte . You are a strong person to be engaged in or contemplating renovations, snapdragon . Yesterday DD worked for 4 hours on my web site. There were some problems she encountered while synching it with the feeder site that holds my portfolio. I think it's all right now. I added a small sale as an experiment, on the calendars of which I have 8 left after our shows Saturday and other purchases made online. Yesterday was also a bright and vibrant dawn:

well, I'm up and dressed for public interaction, trying to wake up with a cup of strong coffee. it's only just now starting to lighten up outside, and I totally could have slept a little longer today. but I was given a 7am arrival time for an HVAC tech to do a PM service on my furnace today. let's see when they actually show up, as it's now 705am.

I did manage to move the elf. The missy is frustrated as she can't find it.
He's in her backpack. Which she has walked past now, like 5 times.

I have been in some Midwestern ones - IN, WI, Missouri, not sure what MI is at the moment. One fault in my opinion of NJ compared to suburban Illinois is the library system. The regional library which I am near is still below is capabilities of my mom's library. Even though Alzheimer's was taking her, I almost moved for the library and the train station into Chicago back then. I am not as brave as some as there are enough pretty red areas of NJ. Living in a red state might be too much for me unless it was one I knew or liked. Maybe there is a 3D printer somewhere in the county library system. In one of the newer not close libraries.

Waking up and prepping for the morning. Still out sick with clogged sinuses and not enough sleep without sleep helper. Doctor does not want me to take at last night's level, but I did manage to get two nights of 5 hour sleep back to back so that feels way better than less than 4. And way better than the two hours before that. Wish I had more money to give a friend. Thinking this paycheck might be zero or close to. They usually do not make you negative if they can help it, but I will need to stay or get current on health ins and dental ins payments ASAP. The first paycheck of the month usually takes the biggest hit, so another reason I want to see if I can return to work on Saturday. And whether I can sustain at least a half day or work going forward ... Have to return my Ariat shoes I bought for work. Totally wrong for me. A gouge in my calf is healing from trying to see if it would break in. Not. So store credit it is, which I am very grateful to be able to get done this week and out of my place. Then a specialty grocer as we head back.

I have about a two hour each way drive for work today. It's supposed to start snowing there early afternoon, and I don't drive in the snow. Fingers crossed that I am able to indulge in the red beef enchiladas at the Tex Mex place there that I love.

Jerseyguy fell yesterday and broke his hip. Probably surgery this afternoon or tomorrow morning. Very discouraging as his blood values are getting near normal and he was feeling stronger and happier. ODS spoke to ortho at the hospital and surgery won’t be too bad but he’ll be in rehab for quite a while DD had same break about 10 yrs ago . She had an accident mountain biking up in Vermont. She’s driving down and will be here through the weekend. Drinking coffee and had a cherry turnover for breakfast. Didn’t sleep well last night.

My mom bought the canned brown bread often, also the date nut bread. Both yummy! I should look next time I’m in grocery. Anyone know where to look? Refrigerator section?

When I heard brown bread, I just thought wheat 😂
We just got into the Pepperidge Farm 15 grain bread - it is delicious. Whoever was checking sugar, it just has 3 grams for the big slices (about 120 calories). I prefer the slightly smaller loaf, where the pieces are around 70 calories each.
