Good morning! finnime, yes, I know that, and I appreciate you mentioning it. I think I’ve just been angry and upset for so long and trying to keep it together, hoping my stomach didn’t go haywire again, that the dam just burst yesterday. I have experienced uncontrollable crying years ago, when I was depressed. Back then, I wouldn’t even know why I was crying. I knew why I was crying yesterday.

My name is taz157 and I'm a nerd. Recently, I watched Lego Masters and they had contestants build different objects from an old-time private investigator's office. One of the items that could be chosen was a typewriter. None of the contestants chose it; however, it lead me to look to see if you could build a Lego typewriter. Spoiler alert: You can!! Lego TypewriterI've been eying it for a couple of weeks now. I haven't pulled the trigger on it yet, but I may... I was talking to coworker about it and she thought it would look great in my office!! I agreed!! I would have been awesome if they had a calculator too! Ooh, that would look great in my home office. I'm going to buy myself some of the Lego flower sets so I can have some forever flowers on my shelf.

Good morning, you invisible founts of wisdom. I hope your Tuesday offers tacos and a delectable dessert, and that all your travels now or planned are smooth. I, too, have definitely benefited from the collective knowledge of this board. From home repairs to 3D printers to form filling to cruise lines to recipes to car purchasing, I've gained a lot. Thank you. Pink Cashmere , you can ask how I know but uncontrollable tears and general irritability are often symptoms of clinical depression. You probably know that. I want to spend New Year's Eve with soupandstew . It sounds like a blast. And I have fuzzy slippers! Yesterday morning was heavily overcast and dark. There were the typical hundreds of Brants at the shore edge, paddling in parades and gathering on rocks to gossip. I have bright green, fuzzy, Grinch slippers and several choices of Christmas pants. One pair of pajamas with sheep on the pants. The top says " BAAAAA.... HUMBUG" above a single sheep. Can I come too? PLEASE!😁 Everyone is welcome to come on down for New Year's Eve, complete with Christmas PJ's and fuzzy slippers. It will be BYOB, everyone has to help man the garden hoses if bottle rockets start a fire, and you should know that celebratory gunfire is pretty common so an Army surplus helmet is okay too. Also, bring your inhaler as the smoke from the fireworks is pretty overwhelming - the last two years much of Houston was enveloped in a smoke/fog combo the next morning. For the traditionalists, I can do black-eyed peas with collard greens and smoked turkey wings for New Year's Day - it covers all all the bases for health and prosperity.

Eating breakfast, running the dishwasher and working on booting up from less than 4 hrs sleep but more than 3. Work wants me to get a doctor's note, so I will do that soon. Hopefully completed by this morning. PCP visit scheduled and then I realized its already Dec. I have to see one or more oral surgeons and see if I can get the extraction done this month. I know the dentist would have preferred I get it removed by mid month, ... Sick Opti can only address competing immediate needs one by one, day by day. Moon Shadow is anxious and more wanting of cuddles and my presence than usual. Probably wants to assess how likely I will still be there for him. Crestie isn't happy either, but he's a survivor bless his little gecko heart as long as I or someone else mists his cage enough. So Moon Shadow had his breakfast early, sometime between midnight and 3.

I guess my Xmas hope for this year is that I can get someone to take me to the Christmas eve cookie service. Hopefully I can bring cookies I made instead of needing to buy some. Hope I am well soon. I am supposed to work the Saturday b4 Xmas eve. Thankfully this month, this Saturday is my Saturday off.

I saw a FB meme over the weekend. it was something about the current generation going out on a Tuesday night and calling off work the next day. but those of us of a certain age went out, rolled in sideways with enough time to brush teeth and get to the office still dressed in last night's clothes with the bar stamp on the back of a hand. he's practicing, so he can join the adults at the table. 😉 Oh the good old days I dated a guy who had business here and Panama City. I would leave PC at 5am on Monday after partying Sunday night at bar called NoName to get to work by 8. Lucky that boss and crew were working on big out of state job. I could change and put on makeup when I got to office. But I was a youngun at 42 when that started! Lordy I had a blast in my “youth”. LOL! In my younger years, we went on a pub crawl in Glasgow and wound up in a Chinese restaurant at 5 am. I had a presentation to make at 8 am, so went back to the hotel and cleaned up and went over. I WAS sober by then luckily. It was a very long day! Very poor planning on my part, I should not have gone out after the whiskey tastings knowing I had to be on the next morning. The whiskey tastings WERE a scheduled meeting event though, so I don5 get all the blame.

Ugh. Picked up a cough somewhere, skipping over the usual nasal stuff. Feeling a touch bad about telling the neighbor she can’t bring her dog over while the movers are finally moving…too many meetings today plus feeling like crap, and the pups like to play rough = supervision needed.

FWIW, I bought around Thanksgiving so I haven’t had it long.

A friend bought the Lego typewriter for his wife last year. If we had a bigger house we'd have more Legos. I don't have the Harry Potter ones for this reason. DH has several of the big space ones. It's my last in office day for the year. I'm going to try and clean up my desk some. I also get to leave early for a doctor's appointment. I swear I will get the living room cleaned up enough tonight to make room for the Christmas tree. DD1 wants one of the Harry Potter castle sets. She wants the one that’s $170 instead of $470. The $170 one will be a Christmas present for her. 😁

Last week, 2 guys at my job were talking, J is a 100% disabled veteran and he loves to brag about it, I guess it makes him feel rich or something, The other guy told him he has him beat, he’s also a 100% disabled veteran, he gets another check because he’s retired military, he gets a paycheck from working, and a check for something else I don’t remember. I got distracted from the conversation because I started wondering if he has all of that income, why he’s allowed things to get to the point that he’s missing so many teeth. I know we have decent dental benefits. Man use some of that income and fix your mouth! I try not to judge people, but I feel like dental stuff is a necessity, and I wondered why someone with access to decent, affordable, dental insurance and all the income he was bragging about, wouldn’t take care of their teeth. Just a random something that popped into my head while I was reading the retirement stuff here. Some people just have bad teeth. It seems to be hereditary. My mom's side of the family has awful teeth. She is 71 and has had dentures for about 10 years. Her teeth were basically crumbling. She's never done drugs or had any medical problems outside of typical aging stuff. Her dad didn’t have any teeth really when he died. I had a friend that was in her 40s when she got her dentures because her teeth were so bad.

But, got the necessary documents uploaded for the iep lawyer and the kids had a good time last night. This is going to be trickier than I’d hoped, the whole kid who loves to host coupled with his introverted mom, necessity of supervising his easily overexcited self, and constant insecurity and embarrassment bc I suck at organizing the house and am unenthusiastic about cleaning.

I go every year to the PCP and gyno and 3X a year to the dentist, because I'm going to get every damn nickels worth out of my insurance. LOL I need a new dentist. Mine was accused of some things if you catch my drift. I haven’t seen the dentist since before covid. My sister recommended hers, I'll have to look into it. Does it matter if all my doctors are affiliated with a certain hospital and my dentist isn't? I'm torn because it's just my teeth, but at the same time your teeth are tied to so many things you'd never guess they were.

I found out the Christmas frog I got at the thrift store is from Avon and it's a singing frog! I located the battery pack and put some in. He works! He croaks "Jingle Bells". DH is "SUPER excited" I figured out how to make it sing.

I enjoy getting to know the kids' friends, and I figure I'm providing free babysitting so other parents shouldn't judge my house. And the kids could care less especially if you always have snacks - popcorn and drink mixes for the win. Bonus that popcorn is gluten free for certain friends and tweens like to mix the gatorade powders to make weird flavors and colors.

But, yes, you should go. There are worse things that can happen than just losing your teeth. I go more than twice a year since insurance started paying for it, because I build up a lot of excess tarter and even with brushing twice a day I have some gum disease. They say gum disease increases risk of heart problems substantially so I try to keep it under control as best as possible.

Random but the dental conversation reminded me of something new I learned from a friend last week...here's an excerpt of her fb post that she's given permission to share:
"My untreated hearing loss has been *causing* brain damage. For 25+ years. I always thought of hearing as an ear problem, and that when I finally got around to getting hearing aids, that would fix everything. But my brain has actually been shrinking, and while there will be some improvement in memory and cognitive function with hearing aids, the brain will not bounce back. That significantly increases my risk for some form of dementia as I continue to age."

I have no motivation. Maybe if I shake a box of dog treats it'll coming running? Try a cheese wrapper. I have better luck with those.

I finally got DH to weigh in on the Christmas Eve and Christmas Day menus. Christmas Eve will be our traditional bagels and lox with capers, red onions, etc. And maybe the crazy good pecan bars from a local Kosher bakery which sort of fits the theme. I'll get the bagels there too-they have 15 varieties made fresh daily. Christmas Day he wants tamales with Spanish rice. I'll get the tamales from a local place, maybe a mix of chicken, pork, and spinach ones. That sort of means we will need to get some tres leches cake from a local bakery. Which requires lining up for a couple of blocks along the street leading to the bakery, waiting our turn to get in the parking lot on Christmas Eve day, as directed and enforced by sheriff's deputies. They are that good. We haven't talked about New Year's Eve and New Year's Day yet. We may do New Year's Eve dinner at our local French/Spanish bistro, or may stay home with caviar and blinis, plus a take-out Manchego cheesecake from the bistro. Whatever we do, it will be a late night as my tradition is to celebrate midnight with my neighbors in the street in my big pink fuzzy bathrobe. The neighbors do fireworks in the best or worst way possible - the size and volume truly rivals many official firework displays - so you can't really plan on sleeping until after 2 a.m. Either way, I'll probably do something like a stuffed boneless Cajun chicken and stewed cabbage on New Year's Day. Can I come over? That sounds delicious!

I am at work. Have a lot to do. Got a later start this am than yesterday. Cleaned a few things out of my utensil drawer but I ordered new rubber scrapers, spatulas and a new pizza cutter. I also decided I needed a different pair of spanx. The pants I have on fit well, but my rear needed better shaping, so I put my Spanx Thinstincts 2.0 on but these are a size M I bought to wear under a dress. I decided if I am going to wear them all day, I am buying a size larger. I am going to try a boyshort style and see if I like it.
I am still carrying 2 phones around. The I-phone 15 is not fully set up as it does not want to connect to Wi-Fi at home. We don't have Wi-Fi at work. Going to have to go in the store and see if I can get resolved, So, last night I had my old phone connected to Apple Car Play so I could listen to an Audible selection, and I left it in my car with a napkin tossed over it. I go in the store and am using the new phone to download coupons. I got a message that my phone was left behind. I think it is nice to send such a message, but if it was not my old phone how would I have ever gotten the message that I left my phone somewhere?
Looks like we may move to a Sage Cloud based Accounting product, don't know if we will move out of the dark ages then or not. Apparently, our IT person thinks we need a new server, and going cloud based would eliminate the need for a new server. I am going to nudge us as much into the current age as possible. I would like to go cloud based storage of invoices, and have the invoice approval be electronic too. If it goes into the cloud, no filing and easier to pull up invoices and review things too. Especially if it is an older invoice.
I want to clean my house a bit tonight, so I am going to try to leave on time. We have a Christmas party in Chicago on Friday night, so I took the day off on Friday.

Hence, the plan for a marathon cleaning session tonight.

This is why I hate when my kid does these long weekend jaunts in the middle of the semester. It's not like we don't get snowstorms shutting down airports around here! At least he got a good taste of what can happen without it being a more than one day deal. 😉 I don't think I could pull it off at this age, but I did that when I was younger. Go home to S/S/S and go to work. I might die if I tried that now. And I WFH!
