I'm being productive today. ish. I went to Walmart before most folks were awake, I read the Sunday paper cover-to-cover, and I just finished cooking off 3lbs of ground turkey and wilted kale for the pups. next up is a big pot of minestrone for myself this week. it's been grey and rainy here all day, so it's not a high energy day for any of us.
Drama- that bear is adorable.
ETA- shit. and I didn't even look at the housewares section for Corelle bowls. 🤦♀️ it wasn't on the list. grr....

My mom's coworker dropped off the bears today. They are amazing. I've cried twice and I'm vibrating. This one is mine from my mom's sweater. That is super cool. Can you PM me of you don't want to post info on the person who crafted this for you. Many thumbs up.

You can order Corelle from Walmart.com or keep track of what is in stock in your particular store and where it is located.

Thank you! They left out the part where you eat some of the raw dough and filling before putting in the pan. I think eating raw cookie dough functions like tasting what you are making for dinner tonight. A necessary part of the process.

Visited mom and dad today. It was good. I REALLY want a fresh tree for Christmas. With just DH & I it is not practical I know. Plus I will likely be gone for at least a week between now and then. Maybe I will get one when I get home from the work trip.

That was always an issue between EX2 and I. The kind I like have gotten hard to find around here, for several years now. 😕 I don't want a bush with ornaments on it. 😄 Although that seems to be what a lot of people like. Mostly, I love the smell!

Maybe I will get one when I get home from the work trip. I am misting an advent wreath from Trader Joes. I bought it quickly without much thought since the friend was doing me a huge favor by letting me buy there super quickly. No TJ products for 5 ish months. This was just b4 TG day and I think only 1 plus almost crumbs have made it to today. I grabbed up two bags of my favorite popcorn, one bag of potato chips, the corn chip dipper ones and I think the expensive but tasty onion chips. Consumed the latter that daym first thing. More please

Getting cold outside so animals are coming into the attic. I heard rustling for a few nights. Bought some glue traps. Put two by garbage can in kitchen and 2 in attic. Caught a mouse in the kitchen. But the traps in the attic disappeared. Might mean it’s not mice but something bigger, thinking squirrels. I’ll try again by buying some bigger traps. If those don’t work then exterminer. Squirrels can cause a lot of damage to house wiring. Glue traps are incredibly cruel. I wish they were outlawed. The management company of a building where I worked for many years used those. We had a woman who grew up on a farm who would take them outside and release them if they got in the trap. The sound they make while they are dying is horrible. I do use snap traps and I know they are cruel, but death comes quickly. I am not touching the traps so I get one of the nephews or BIL to come over and get rid of them. My cats think chasing mice is a game and won't kill them.

My cats catch mice and shrews. They are rarely in the basement so we have poison in the closed off rooms. We have gotten two dead ones of late downstairs. Have never seen one up here. Nor have the cats acted like they have ever smelled one up here. Never had the issue in the basement till holes were cut in for the solar wiring. We have seen them in the garage, but kitties take care of those too.
Our bed made up, all clothes ready to wash are done. All floors vacced, and the hardwood I used the Bonae mist and pads on. I still need to mop the tile in kitchen, hallway and bathrooms and I will. As usual dusting not done, will do one day before I go. Will use the mop on the kitchen and hall but hand mop the bathrooms, they aren't all that big. Cleaned litter boxes too, today was just a sift day.
All my windows need washed but going to be some time before I do that.
Need to get the suitcase out of the basement and start putting things in it.
I don't like the idea of going without hubs, if left up to me would stay home, but hubs said don't do that to little guy so we won't.

What a horrible and painful way to die! I refused to go up there anymore.

Going to have to be practical. Drinking some soda to settle my stomach, So I am going to be getting a practical car that is reliable. It will be old and possibly have the same gas mileage as my 2002 BMW. So being that Opti likes shiny cool cars and must settle for now, what do you think of this as a potential key fob?

Possums, squirrels and raccoons are a bigger attic problem here than mice or rats, and we keep them all screened out. We have a fair number of feral cats as well as owls and that also helps keep down the mice and rat population. Exclusion beats traps and poison in my books.

Opti I love all things Brighton and use a very old Brighton key fob for my house key, one that DH got me years ago. Their quality is outstanding.

I have a wild hair involving Instant Pot stuffed grape leaves, partly because I have a pound of ground lamb in the freezer calling my name. It sounds fairly labor intensive but should yield several meals so who knows? I need to buy the grape leaves, rice, and a bottle of allspice at a local store. The recipe also involves a whole head of fresh garlic so how bad can it be?

Feeling pissy towards DH. I saw something on his browsing history a while back that slightly bothered me but I let it go as no big deal. At least I did until today, when I noticed something on a mutual friend's social media that made me question if the video on his search was rooted in an interest in an actual person. I have no doubt that he would never do anything outside of our marriage but this hit me hard. I might be in bed when he gets home from work because I don't think I can communicate with him properly in this moment.
ETA - I also recognize that this could just be me making trouble because things have been going well. I am well aware that I have a sabotage personality when things are going too good.

Yeah, that is crazy. The most expensive key chain I have ever owned cost $8. It includes a pair of nail clippers with a spinner before spinners were popular from a popular east coast beach. And I still use it 21 years later!

But I like how the ornaments have room to hang and are even. If I wanted a bush, I'd decorate one in my yard.

Holy moly - I just stepped out on the front porch and spooked a bat who zoomed off - the first I've seen in a long time. I am over-the-moon happy because bats are our frontline predators against mosquitoes. And, since our daytime temps are still in the 70's, mosquitoes continue to be a problem here so bats are my besties.

The recipe also involves a whole head of fresh garlic so how bad can it be? Sounds pretty good. The antibiotic or whatever I picked up today is something that should not be taken with dairy. During the holiday season I sometimes indulge in small amounts like one butter cookie. Which apparently I should eat at least an hour after taking this. I have no quibbles with any of the ingredients you mention. Ground lamb is one of my rare indulgences. I usually pair it with kidney beans, garlic, onion, and something green. All in one skillet, so could be beautiful red Russian kale kissed by frost (yum), dandelion greens, etc. This time of year I like to use fresh majoram if I can find it as its supposed to be good for me and my sinuses which need draining. Can't handle spices like I used to so hot tea, certain nondairy soups etc.

I made molasses cookies for Christmas for lunches this week. They won't make it to Friday. It's OK. They are easy. And DH bought new molasses. I haven't even finished baking them and we are down almost a dozen already.
