The French usually eat a croissant and cafe au lait for breakfast, or jambon buerre. It sounds simple enough, but it's a fresh baguette slathered in fresh creamery butter and a thin slice of high-quality ham. People have tried to replicate it it in the US, but for some reason, it just can't be done. Soooo good. I had one on Honfleur earlier this year. The baguette makes it. French butter is really good. I sometimes buy some this time of year. I think its healthier than butter made in America.

Tomorrow need to get busy again. Before I leave the whole house needs cleaned. I keep at the laundry and sometimes hubs folds a load and puts it away. Or like today did DD's blankets while we were gone and I made the bed for her. She fusses when we ask her to do anything but than does it when I say I won't. But its like dealing with a child.
I do clean her bathroom but she isn't real dirty, she picks up her dirty clothes and puts them in the laundry basket, her towels and other things. She is doing a lot better the last few years in her room. Used to be a mess. It may improve more once I straighten and get rid of stuff in her drawers again. I took a lot out of her closet so now she can get her clean clothes in it.
The kitties are about as messy or messier than any of us, LOL! And they just don't listen when I tell them to clean up after themselves.
I just can't get it through my head hubs doing their litter boxes, feeding them and everything if we are gone, even cleaning their fountain for them. I never thought he would do stuff like that, but he does.
Right now with his issues our bathroom isn't as clean, need to do throw rugs again, but he helps empty the trash also. I'm not saying one thing to him about it, because it is already bothering him enough. He is religiously doing the exercises and some new ones to try and help himself. The therapist said he is having to retrain his muscles and some he didn't have to think about before. I so hope it helps him to at least regain some control.
I can remember a neighbor lady quite older than us. Her husband demanded she have breakfast, lunch, and dinner at a certain time every day. She had a cookstove. Her daughter and son had their kitchen extended, remodeled and modernized, and a new electric stove put in. He would not eat a meal off it and made her use the cookstove. Can you imagine? The daughter was a school teacher, both were college graduates. But he was so rigid neither ever married. They all lived together till they died. But when the dad died the cookstove went, in fact it went to my aunt and uncle. That was the way it was for women back than. My dad was bad enough but not quite as bad as that. But I couldn't wait to leave. Yes, the world has changed for women, but if some political parties get their way they will try to push it back again, good luck with that. They would have probably killed me as independent as I was. Anymore I just kind of go with the flow, but I ask hubs to help and he does, but than now he has the time and that makes a big difference.
For the first time in forever I actually have pretty nails. Mine are soft and break easily. I have been painting them and now started putting some hardener on them to help them not break. I won't let them get very long as I know they will break off. One thumb nail I had to file but it's not too awfully short and I caught it in time. I even bought a new file as the old one has worn down I think. I am going to paint them before bed and put another top coat on to protect them.
Ok, hair is dry so took rollers out and will put them and the dryer away. About ready for bed, I'm now getting tired.
I love the commercial on now by Amazon with the llamas singing it it, just the cutest thing.

I was doing some computer research and Maddow knocked my drink over and on the floor. I get that cleaned up and ready to sit back down when Maddow decides to leap for my lap and he jumps into my nose. It hurt and it still hurts. It didn't bleed but I am wondering how big it will be by morning. I may look like Bozo the Clown by then. At least the drink didn’t go on thw computer.

Good morning, invisible royalty of Y Ma'am, preparing for the holidays and the rest of December. Welcome to Sunday. I hope you find satisfaction in this day, and a lovely tasty dessert with whipped cream on top. Yesterday went well, starting with bringing Franklin the Dog to the beach so early it was still pitch dark when we left. He didn't know what to think, but was happy. Then I loaded up the car and we left. DD came over for a bit to see Franklin and let him out. The craft fair, at a parochial elementary school, was well attended and DH sold a handful of cards, and I sold several matted large ptints to different people. So we were pleased. We ran well into the black after expenses. Craft fairs charge per spot. This one was $50, typical. I bought a bow tie for Franklin in a bright multicolor plaid. I need to go through my pictures and sign any (most) unsigned ones before next Saturday when we have two events to cover. Today we are going with DSis to a very large high end arts and crafts festival that we hope to be in next year. We're scouting. These are run by a very commercial company that advertises heavily. They each last for at least 2 and often 3 days for one admission price. Should be good. We were so early yesterday that I couldn't get any good pictures, so I went to my archive and got this one, from exactly one year ago:

I scorched something with my iron. Any suggestions on what to clean the iron with? If the soleplate on the iron is plain metal (not non-stick coating) you can use a little bit of something like Barkeepers Friend or a piece of crumpled aluminum foil. I have no clue what would clean non-stick without damaging it.

Cleaning humidifer. Looking at computer stuff and got ambushed by MS pushed update. Need to disable or slow down those pushes. Sigh,
Also extremely concerned about work, and my safety and health.

It's raining so no beach this a.m. Went to the grocery store and was very pleased to find one last loaf of When Pigs Fly cranberry nut yeast bread. Excellent stuff, made in Maine.

Getting cold outside so animals are coming into the attic. I heard rustling for a few nights. Bought some glue traps. Put two by garbage can in kitchen and 2 in attic. Caught a mouse in the kitchen. But the traps in the attic disappeared. Might mean it’s not mice but something bigger, thinking squirrels. I’ll try again by buying some bigger traps. If those don’t work then exterminer. Squirrels can cause a lot of damage to house wiring.

Walmart has sole plate cleaner for irons, i would think safe for most any iron.
Smoke must know we are leaving him. Soon as he eats in the morning, he comes and snuggles in bed with me, then when I get up is in the recliner with me when I sit down. He is snuggled up beside me now. I need to trim both kitties nails and put on flea treatment. Hubs is going to help hold them as they hate that stuff.
I need to get busy, just got up. Going to go downstairs and iron some shirts. I started the dryer again to help reduce wrinkles. I don't do it all the time, but DD's tshirts need ironed.

I scorched something with my iron. Any suggestions on what to clean the iron with? I've had good luck "ironing" a large piece of wax paper, sometimes several pieces is needed. You may still have a dark stain for awhile, but the tacky/stickiness will be gone.

If its raccoons suggest you do not do battle.

Pink Cashmere , I relate to your frustration over gross bathrooms. I’m lucky DH and I are able to have our own bathrooms so I don’t have to care how he keeps his bathroom. To be fair, when we had to share, DH did a decent job of keeping it clean for us. im visiting my parents this week, and my mom has expressly forbidden my dad from using the small bathroom on the main floor. She never goes in there, unless I’m coming to visit and then she’ll clean it for me. Otherwise, it’s my dad’s to use and clean (or not - he must think there are cleaning fairies bc I don’t think he’s even voluntarily cleaned something). It’s been at least 2 decades since she’s shared with him bc he never cleans and is messy. So she stopped sharing with him, bc she likes a clean bathroom and as she says she’s not the one making the mess, so why would she clean it.

Charlotte is feeling better. I had to chase her away from Wilburs breakfast again.
This morning she tried to angle in and take the treat I was handing him.
I asked her when the hell did she turn into a real lab? She's never been food driven like a typical lab.
Wilbur puppy aura must be rubbing off on her.
Now she's got his stuffed lamb and they are playing tug.

Off for another trip across the border. MIL called last night, specifically asked for TD and me to go up, not my sister. I am not sure what she wants.
He took the dogs for a walk. I need to finish my coffee then dry my hair, and I’ll be ready.

My mom's coworker dropped off the bears today. They are amazing. I've cried twice and I'm vibrating. This one is mine from my mom's sweater.

My nose didn't swell any more since when I looked at it last night so the Toddler won't notice.
I decided that since I liked being at a hotel practically by myself in the hotel last year over Christmas, I will try that again this year. I made a reservation at a hotel I like in Iowa City. It's the lowest amount I have ever paid to stay there. It has a small kitchen and I will bring a ceramic tree and just enjoy. It won't be gone long enough that the cats will need care.
I've given up on decorating for Christmas. I am not in the mood, so next is the Christmas cards. I enjoy receiving so I need to send.
Also getting ready for the organizer coming on Wednesday. The space we are working has become a catch all since the two DVT's and then Covid. I want it to be what it is supposed to be again.
I also pick up my ready made food that day. I made another order last night. That food has so much more flavor than Amy's frozen meals and the cost is very close. The ready food is big enough for two meals. I'm going to miss it while they are gone until January.

All physically capable adults in a house need to participate in the cleaning of it, regardless of gender. Who does what can be divied up based on time and skill but there can't be any free rides. DH and I are both clean freaks and he is exceptionally meticulous (almost to the point of obsession) about "his" areas such as closets and drawers. I wash our clothing, but we each iron our own, and we have separate areas we are responsible for cleaning. As an example, he does all the vacuuming and I mop all the hard floors, and we split up the dusting by room.
Before we hired a landscaper, we split the yard work up. Currently he maintains some of the shrubs and I am primarily responsible for weed control and new plantings.
I am so glad most people have moved past the old-time "women's work" and "men's work" crap which was used for far too long to downplay women's contributions to the household, including financial.

A busier than normal Sunday for me, but I have appointments this week, so need to squeeze in some things today. I vacuumed the house, and a last load of laundry is in the washer. Bathrooms are done. I will do some yard work later, and vacuum the A/C unit later as well. We are having cheese steaks for dinner so at least that is easy.

I was vacuuming and got very tired, so sat down for awhile and than shakes, so checked my blood sugar, its fine. before eating 97. I don't know where my blood pressure cuff is, need to ask hubs think he moved it. So I'm eating a yogurt with extra blueberries and some pecans, so hopefully will be ok. Got a bit short of breath too which I haven't in over 2 years so wonder what that is about. Hope this passes pretty quick. Probably just waited to long to eat something.

I made red velvet cream cheese bars. I dont know if they will make it to Christmas. I may have to double up. At least 9x13 pans of baked goods last longer than a day.

After breakfast I did my last load of laundry and edited my author up through age 18 before going to lunch. Yesterday I had caldo de res with a huge spoonful of diced fresh jalapenos which cleared my sinuses. Today I had Chinese spicy noodle soup which cleared them again. I ran to Aldi for wine, the menu is completed for next week and I'm going to print off the tales of teenage angst. DH is doing a small steak and potato for dinner so I'm done for the day except for putting out some Christmas stuff later.

I bought DH a new trash can for the garage for Christmas. The wheels came off the old one and replacements were more than a whole new can. He saw me getting it out of the Jeep to hide in the shed, so the jig was up. It is now inside with a bow on top and making the cats crazy.
