basic winter frost white, 1qt round serving bowls. I'm just trying to avoid going to Walmart at this time of year, unless I absolutely have to. I probably will end up having to go there anyway, so I'll just grab bowls when I'm there. thanks for the sanity check, soupandstew. unfortunately, I'm seeing ~$40 in more places than just Amazon, so that may just be the price these days . If you have an Ikea - they have similar ones - maybe a bit smaller for 1$ each- check the ones made in france rather than china heh. Ikea in December doesn't sound especially pleasant, either. that said, there isn't one that's really nearby anyway.

Did you try one of those Corelle outlet stores (If they are still open as Corelle filed bankruptcy recently). I kind of wanted an extra set of Corelle dishes we only seem to use for christmas. They still have them at Macys, but I have not succumbed to ordering them yet. Along about the time they are not available I will decide I have to have them. I can afford it, just not convinced I NEED them to use once a year kwim?

I don't NEED these additional bowls right this second. I'll just grab some when I eventually do need to make a Walmart run.

Yeah, I was reading back in older posts I missed and I panicked when I saw the Outlets have closed. I just ordered my set for $109 from Kohls. I had Kohl's Cash I didn't know what to spend it on anyways.
New phone mostly restored from my old phone. There is one Gig of data that did not restore. There is an apple ios update that needs to be applied for some stuff to work. It wont run till the backu finishes but it appears to be hung up. Could not open Audible. Libby worked fine. Can't get into Facebook b/c I don't remember password and points to old roadrunner e-mail. I have to try from my computer at home. I also have a new computer at home which is not 100% set up. Old one works but would not turn on this am for some reason. I used it yesterday.
I have an avalanche of work. Things I thought were done are now not done b/c other people are turning things in ate and changing all my #'s. I still have my own last minute stuff to do too.
DH fixed the plumbing problem at DS's rental last night. He said his hands were clean but he felt like they still smelled. Yuk.

I have a set of white, shallow bowls that I use for pasta, or anything that tends to get soup6 with sauce. They were given to me by a friend for Christmas probably 30 years ago. They’re freaking heavy stoneware, but I’d be upset now if one would get broken. I have seen a similar set at Williams Sonoma and have a set of cereal bowls that look like them. My original intention was to gradually acquire the set and I was going to buy it by pieces as it went on sale. I didn’t get very far, but we still use all the bowls.

I saw those bowls on sale at my local Smith's/Kroger, last week. Less than $5 per. (I think $3.98). Hope you can find some, near you! I hate the weight and how easily stoneware chips.

my full set is a discontinued Mikasa pattern. the plates and shallow bowl all have a wide rim with the pattern, and the food surface is plain white. so the basic white Corelle works really well for additional pieces to complement the pattern. I've got 1 and 2qt serving bowls, a couple flat platters, and some smaller rice bowls in the basic white.
sadly, mooch managed to chip a few of the Mikasa pieces, and I can't find them on Replacements.com anymore. so I think I might be on the lookout for a new patterned set soon.

You do realize Christmas Tree Shops went out of business, right? The are all closed now. I know. I was saying I'm fully stocked, and that's where it all came from. Gotcha. Not awake yet and it's almost 3:30.

We got rid of m6 Mikasa set after I moved up here. TD had a set, plus he inherited his mom’s Mikasa which was the same pattern. Right now we have at least 16 plates, but have lost half of both the large and small bowls. We also have soup bowls with rims, but never use them. Some of the plates do have chips in them, but we can still get a full set without. I would really like to get something different. I found a set I liked when we were in Turkey, but getting it back to the US was an issue.

This is going to sound strange but I am a bit envious of all those broken/chipped plates etc. I still have the set I bought 50 or so years ago. I use it daily but in all that time exactly 1 plate was broken by my (then) housekeeper and one plate has a tiny chip (from a move) and these have circumnavigated the world several times. Everything still looks nice but I am sooooo tired of them. I can't make myself to get rid of perfectly fine dinnerware but I swear when I move I will NOT take these with. I should at !east get new dinnerware once in my life right?*
* if that'll cost me my rather tattered YMAM card so be it.

find yourself a shelter that works with DV victims, or veterans, in helping all of them get set up for a new life and good success. donate your old set there, it will be well loved by those taking their first steps toward a new normal. and then go buy yourself a new set! I actually love my pattern, and I'm annoyed that so many pieces were damaged. he actually managed to chip a few of the basic Corelle plates I had for holiday filler (I've got svc for 8 with the Mikasa). I'm sorry, Corelle doesn't chip, it just shatters. I'm still trying to figure out how TF he chipped that. anyway those plates are gone, I donated the intact ones when I moved here. anyway, here's the pattern - link and I'm registered on Replacements.com for any possible options.

And to be fair, it is a very nice set but I am just tired of it. *still hanging on to the delusion that I actually deserve to have a YMAM card

I hate people. I asked for $45K to pay a policy and endorsement. The client instead paid $82K to the finance company, which is their December monthly payment.
I still need the $45K I asked for. He paid the wrong thing. I do not want to call this guy and tell him he made a mistake and I still need the money.

Following the massive redo in 2015, we realized we would have a lot more space if we ditched our set of dishes from which we didn't use the coffee cups and saucers, or the rimmed soup plates. We donated an entire set of Noritake to a local assistance ministry resale shop and went to Crate and Barrel and chose pieces from their open stock of bone china. We got dinner plates, lunch plates, salad plates, medium bowls (used for soup and some cereals). We also got some smaller clear glass bowls to use for other cereals and fruits. The plates are pure white and square. We don't entertain at home so we just have (and store) what we use for our lifestyle. It was very liberating

I've had this set about 20y now, I bought it not long after buying my first condo. while I am sad about not having this beautiful pattern when I move on, it's definitely served me well. I can find something else to make me smile

Dinner was wonderful, best food I've eaten in awhile. They season everything just right. Must have 15 kids of pies, hubs loves the pies and the homemade ice cream they have. DD got full quick but she ate a plate of veggies so that's good. I had to watch what I ate to not overdo it. Small quantities of a lot of items. I could have eaten twice that much and than been sick all night, so restrained myself, yum, so good, sigh.
It's just after 4 and I'm getting a shower shortly. Recon is done, 3rd sale is booked and the stray amazon tickets. I need to go through a few Lowe's tickets to make sure they are valid and double check if they are booked already, but I feel good that this is all done. Maybe I can get through DD's recons too. I am missing receipts for carpet I have to request. Have no idea what happened to those.
Have a few other things to do tonight, but about done for the day.

Not sick, the joys of menopause at 48. It has not happened for a while though, not sure what brought it on. Black cat crossed in front of you earlier? Full moon? Groundhog saw his shadow? As far as I am concerned, these are all equally valid reasons where you get a power surge. I blame every thing on a full Sun. Sun is always full.

I can easily see myself going mix and match with stuff that's functionally appropriate for how I live. this Mikasa set of plates was purchased while I was stocking up on all the traditional entertaining stuff, like full dinnerware sets, servingware (I sold a huge set of Corningware crocks/lids for like $50 a couple years ago) thinking that I was going to have this Martha Stewart life b/c that's what I was raised brainwashed to think was my path. I've said a few times - when I bought the townhouse that turned into my albatross, I bought it thinking that I'd live there til I met my Mister, and WE would decide what to do with it once we moved in together. yeah......life had different plans, and that's not a bad thing!

Taking a potential shot in the dark and going for a senior microbiologist position in another department. He said I already have to advantages I'm in Omaha and I am internal. We talked a bit about what they are looking for and I got some tips on what to consider going forward for what certifications and stuff I might want to consider obtaining to push myself up into the next level.
He also suggested looking at QA/QC positions.

I use those things almost every day of the week for one thing or another. The one really old piece we kept was a blue-and-white Corningware loaf pan from DH's mother - it's our go-to for meatloaf.

Those serving bowls looked to be about $18 NIB.

Ok everyone can roll their eyes and laugh but I still have all my Corning ware like this that was mostly wedding gifts in 64. I I still use some of it regularly. Can’t seem to part with it. Even little teapot that I haven’t used in 30 years. Doesn’t take up much space so it hang onto it.

She started her collection with a 1973 wedding gift set and just kept adding to it over the years mostly from garage sale finds, so I guess some of it might be from 64.

I know I just talked about donating my old stuff, but I'm a lot weirded out by using other people's old dishes. thankfully, I'm not in a position to need the charity like that. I've had this set about 20y now, I bought it not long after buying my first condo. while I am sad about not having this beautiful pattern when I move on, it's definitely served me well. I can find something else to make me smile Do you not let anyone else use the dishes that you own? What's the difference if you wash it? You can buy new in box Corelle off ebay though. Those serving bowls looked to be about $18 NIB. I know the people that I invite to use my dishes. I don't know the strangers that did before selling their stuff. and yes, I go to restaurants. I acknowlege that it's not a logical thing, but I'm not buying used dishes for daily use in my own home.
