Vegan or vegetarian
Or somewhere in between? Vegan. Vegetarian would be easier. Delish has a whole roasted cauliflower that is basted like a Turkey. I haven't done that recipe but I've roasted a whole head before and it was awesome. Super easy to make too. You can use Earth Balance buttery spread instead of butter. EB is vegan.

Any of the real crime shows put me to sleep except for Law and Order SVU. I do get in to the plot and need to watch it.
I've been trying to watch all 22 seasons. I'm on season 13 now.

I haven't watched Law and Order SVU in years. Last night, it came on after something else, I watched. I've been watching it ever since. I need to sleep, but I keep getting caught up in the show. Then the next one. I need something less stimulating/interesting- boring, to sleep to. DD2 text me yesterday. Asked if I want a used (lightly) 43" flat screen tv. I need to get rid of my OLD school TV with dvd and vhs players built in (works well no issues), before DD2 and her DH bring the flat screen, this week (today?). But I can't move it, much less lift or carry it. Those big old TVs are HEAVY and awkward, to carry. Esp down 3 flights of stairs. I also need to get my apt cleaned up and laundry done, because their girls will likely be with them. My apt is tiny, the girls will likely color on my bed, to be entertained and out of the way. I don't have time to sleep. I need to get up and get busy. It's 6:20AM. I am not a morning person. Ugh. I need to not allow my anxiety to overwhelm me, or nothing will get done. Whatever you do today. I hope your day goes well and you enjoy it (some of it?). That it doesn't all suck. Take care of you. ♡ do you have the channel HLN? Forensic Files is a very steady and consistent volume over the 30min episodes, and if you find the original version (the original narrator died) that guy's voice is very calming. I download lots of Forensic Files and Homicide Hunter to my phone to drown out the office noise.

Or somewhere in between? Vegan. Vegetarian would be easier. I have to avoid dairy so for me it wouldn't make much difference if any. I don't know if you have grocery stores with bins but you might be able to get just the ingredients you need there instead of big packages. I use Brewer's yeast for a cheese flavor, but not too much, at most 2 Tbsps in a pasta dish often less than a Tbsp for my sensitive stomach. You could even go for some frozen things and heat them up for this person. Amy's has a line for frozen meals I like that are dairy free. I like this, but my local grocery store seems to have dropped it. I was thinking it could be an indulgence for my own TG day.

Super easy to make too. You can use Earth Balance buttery spread instead of butter. EB is vegan. I've used Earth Balance for years. Really good for baking even if it does not give the same flavor as sticks of butter. Cauliflower is low protein and generally low cal. I'm not into tofu or tempeh but nuts, beans, and seeds add protein and are healthier than dairy cheese and sour cream. Most of the non dairy cheeses are low protein as well. Some of them are OK like Daiya, which also makes non dairy pizzas that could be cut up as well. Below is the best maker of non dairy cheese IMO, but it is pricey. They no longer produce the cheddar style slices or string cheese but you could put the below out with other dips and munchies. I really like it, but I am not comparing it to good cheddar as much as to all the other non dairy cheese alternatives that exist.

When I think about what we're serving for dinner on Thursday, I'm pretty sure only the carrots and asparagus are actually vegan. We've lots of vegetarian dishes, but not true vegan. BIL is bringing the rolls, so I don't know if those are truly vegan or if they have eggs or dairy. I'd probably add a regular salad for someone who needed another vegan dish.

Heating up the rest of the can of lentil soup for lunch. Next to make my weekly walking trip to get my 8pk of soda. I break it up into two bags so its easier to carry for a distance. Being 60 plus and sick with who knows what, I really feel every pound of items I carry for more than a 1/4 mile or so.
Still have work clothes laundry to do and hopefully wash and dry my hair. Wish I could just sleep and ignore everything, but this is my only full day off every week, so got to cram things in even though I have a serious barking cough.

Got a lot done so far. Bathrooms, laundry, cookies for DH. Took out stuff for Thanksgiving and finalized the list of what's left to get tomorrow after practice. I need to decide on a new Medicare plan and next month's races. Dinner is leftovers, so at least no thought going into that.

So my nephew has a neighbor that has no family that he's bringing over for Thanksgiving. He's vegan and I don't know what to feed him. Help! Vegan or vegetarian
Or somewhere in between?Potato flautas with beans & rice? Cheese quesedillas? Sorry I missed the significance of vegan, but napales(cactus) oh and DH said roasted zucchini? Possibly with beans and onions. MIL makes Lentil soup. I actually really liked it until I realized lentils are high fodmap foods so bad fir my IBS-d. I also love roasted cauliflower, but I have to be careful with that too. Our Thanksgiving dinner usually has traditional Thanksgiving foods along with Mexican and puerto rican rice, beans, flautas and chimichangas. It is getting to be too much for her, so we will probably only have traditional foods + beans and rice and salsa & chips. There were a good number of us that liked cauliflower, just some prefer raw and some cooked so we did both.

toomuchreality Suggest you do NOT move the old tv especially down stairs. Let your SIL do this for you. He’s younger and likely stronger. You mind his children so he should do this to recognize how much you help his family JG, did you read her post? She's not going to. Like me, its too heavy to lift so its not even an option. I think I will call GotJunk this week and see if I can get an estimate. 1-800-GOTJUNK charges by volume: how much of their truck that your stuff will fill up. A couple of years ago, I was looking into renting a van to move some stuff, and I noticed several companies that were advertising they could supply day laborers to help move.

DD has off on Sunday and DGS can take train back to college later Sunday YAY all 3 kids can be here! I’ll cook the turkey. ODS can put in/out oven cause it will be heavy . Others will bring - whatever! I’ll look for no sugar added pumpkin pie for Jerseyguy. Or make a no sugar chocolate cream pie, maybe both?

For this, I can probably just use the voice commands, on my remote. That should be easy enough.

Just balanced my Chase account, which I do a few times a month. Decided today was the day I'd have my cash back rewards applied. A few years ago, I started saving the rewards from June-ish to November to spend on holiday stuff. I made it the whole year this time, so last November to this November with out tapping into the cash back rewards.

Since DD2 said SHE could probably bring the flat screen over, I'm guessing she doesn't want to ask for his help, or she did and was told no. I hope I can find someone who wants it. Maybe for a kids room? Since it works. Then they can pick it up. We'll see. I won't remind him of what I do for them. That's a guarantee of things getting REAL UGLY, REAL fast! BTDT.

Sorry tmr, your SIL sounds like an unpleasant self absorbed selfish person. Why don’t you very casually talk about things you’ve done to help his family when he comes over. Maybe something that happened when babysitting the grands? Maybe he’ll be a clueless jerk but you might have the satisfaction of ‘poking’ him
Sorry your DD has to live with him

It listed each package and what channels are included in package. I have found it online but I wanted to see it in front of me if that makes sense. I could see it all at once. This may have been on my account page. It’s been a year or so so don’t remember for sure where I saw it. Will dink around later and will post if interested. I rarely have a problem with service but there is one guy I use if something major and I pop into xfinity store to see him. Otherwise I use live chat for minor stuff! Eta you can set your guide choice as Free to Me and it only shows your package channels. But you may already have it set to that.

Last night we went out for prime rib dinner at the club. It was very good, but even the smallest cut was waaaay too much meat. The 3 of us could have been happy with 2 dinners!
I took the leftover prime rib and diced it up. I made hash out of it, and served it under a couple poached eggs. I thought topping the eggs with hollandaise a bit too much, so restrained myself.
This works well, soup for dinner tonight.

Sorry you have to deal with that from SIL, toomuchreality. That type of situation is why I refuse to be around my sister's husband. My mom has taken care of their kids (8 & 5) for free since they were born and goes above and beyond. That's mom's issue, but he borrowed dad's truck to haul some stuff for yard work and the truck broke down. He called my dad who went and got the part needed to get it running. BIL sat in the bar nearby while dad was fixing it. BIL's job was right next door, which was a place that I worked for 2 decades. People from that factory who were stopping at the bar before going home refused to let dad do it on his own, and they did not even know who he was! That was the end for me with BIL. Their kids LOVE me and my sister doesn't use kids as weapons so I never have to worry about keeping away from the kids. Plus, she knows her husband is an asshole and isn't afraid to fight him.

Not a bear I'm willing to poke. I prefer to see and have a relationship with my daughter and grands. He really can be the nicest person in the world. Or he can be the worst. And I hate arguing. I'd rather not have the tv. When it comes to debate and arguments, he's a LOT like EX2. And will win, at any cost. Not me. He knows what I do for them. He brings it up, often, in a positive way. I'm going to see if I can find someone to take the old tv, before they come. It will make things go much better, if I can.

How big was the TV? I think this is a 32 inch Sony from late 80s or early 90s. I can't really afford $120 either, but I think its holding me back mentally and has been dead for at least a year and a half. The only person who can help has uncertain short term handyman jobs and I have to plan way in advance because of my small office. It reminds me of my XH, my deceased mom, and the fact I haven't watched a working TV for possibly two years. I have a cheap flat screen in the apartment that I can put there, but not until this is gone. I'll probably need help mounting the flatscreen or have to buy a new stand because they are long now instead of square, so the old stand won't work. I've had the cheap flatscreen more than two years and its past time. I have no family in the area and sadly no long term friends who aren't north of 60 years old in the area. I don't know who could even help.

I had a fair night sleep, but not great-still some coughing spells. After I fixed breakfast I finished the mopping and we went to Whole Foods. As I suspected, right after opening on a Sunday morning is very light traffic on the road and in-store. I ordered some hand soap on sale at Bath & Body Works, and placed an Amazon order for DH.
After lunch I laid down and sleep DEEPLY for 1 hour and then just drifted in and out for another hour; I feel much better. Over the last week, broken sleep has worn me down a bit.
I'm making out the menus for the week.

Watched my volleyball team actually win a match this afternoon. We have had so many injuries that a promising season did not turn out that way. One more weekend and they will be done.
I will watch the Iowa women tonight.
I have to figure out ESPN 3 because my basketball team is off to the Virgin Islands where we will get to see what they are made of. Three tough games on paper. Time will tell.

We weren't going to do Thanksgiving on Thursday because the girls were gonna be at T1's GF's family's Thanksgiving 1.5 hours away. That's not happening now, so I went today to get everything to have Thanksgiving at my new place. I still have stuff to pick up from Sam's this week, but it's coming together.

I'm currently stuffing my face. I baked a turkey breast tenderloin (the couple slices on my plate are probably still a few degrees short, but whatever. I'm past hungry. it took way longer than the listed cook time to get to 150 degrees, but the outside of the meat is all dried out? ugh. not following that recipe again. I actually had to stick my plate in the microwave to reheat the sides that were all just sitting around.
but, now I have leftover stuffing, mashed, roasted acorn squash, Brussels 'n pancetta, and about 3/4 of that tenderloin. pups will share the acorn, and the butternut I'll roast in a couple days. oh, and the mashed potatoes some. everything else has either garlic or onion.

If he offers, that's one thing. He'll be decent about it. But if you ask, and he does it, watch out. However, he did ask me to house sit for 10 days, in December. So it might be okay. But they haven't visited me at my place, in probably 15 years, so there's that. I just don't want it to get ugly. BTDT. What a dick. I'd just do it for you if I lived by you. Why can't people just do nice things for each other?

I had a long conversation with one of my male coworkers that I’ve always enjoyed conversations with because he talks about real life stuff. He started talking to me and the lady I work with, and a lot of the conversation was about relationships. He married very young, got divorced several years ago, and has been remarried for a few years now. He is very pleased with his wife, and it was refreshing to hear a man speak so highly of his wife while talking about the general dynamics of how their relationship works. He takes his responsibilities to her seriously, and feels like he gets all his efforts back, in the way that she loves him. Listening to his perspectives was a nice start to my work day.

We had a fun day today. Went to the family luncheon for Thanksgiving our neighbor has at the community center every year. I think there were only about 6 of us strays this year. I took baked beans, they always tell us bring nothing but I can't do that. Good thing, noone else brought any. There was tons of food otherwise and it was good. I have eaten so many rolls, I'm full, I just finished 2 more for dinner. I love fresh baked rolls, that's why I rarely have them. I will have to diet for several days to get rid of those, LOL!
We had some games as usual, really fun and just good conversation. DD went out to the car on about part II and listened to music. It's fine with us, tiny town and safe, she was happy, so we were too. I let her wear her Christmas outfit. Red pants and top with a white fuzzy vest, she looked pretty. I am so happy I was able to get her a haircut and me too. Those folks are older than us and when they stopp hosting this a lot will stop for their family. They have one dinner for her family and one for his. I'm sure there were over 40 people there. We are invited to the one at their house too but we don't go to that one. Hubs knows a lot of the people that comes.
They redid their whole house downstairs, she has a huge kitchen with a bar all the way down the middle and along the side and end, plus cabinets galore, its all quartz countertops and is gorgeous. Tore out walls for their dining room which flows into their living room. They put a couch all down the side that will probably sit 20 to 30 people, plus 2 or 3 recliners. It's a nice layout now. I don't know who did it, but I swear it was 3 or 4 years in the works, they just got it finished this summer. But it had stuff where a doublesided fireplace was added and a ceiling mounted vent in the kitchen, so also involved work upstairs and a new roof. A few years back they added a garage with apartment. At times they hosted a cop and family whose house burned. Right now a neice whose house got destroyed in the tornado. They built it because there are no close hotels nearby and when family comes in there wasn't room for them. They have 10 grandkids. But its a wonderful family that gets along and they are a pleasure to be around. They are the folks I get the apples from.
I have been asleep in the recliner and decided to go to bed, where I am now. Just about ready to shut this off, brush my teeth and call it a night. Hubs is watching Gotham and I couldn't stay awake. I am going to regret eating those last 2 rolls.
It's only 8:30 but I'm beat. Busy day tomorrow. Hope all of you had a good weekend, we sure did. Rare for us to go out. Night all.
