Well, hell. I was just in an hour long meeting at a nursing home. The resident wasn't being totally coherent, which he normally is. They tested him and he is positive for covid. FML. Oh no! I hope you did not contract it.

Me too! I was masked, but it was for an hour. When I had Covid, TD was in the same room sleeping in the same bed and he didn’t get it. There’s a good chance you didn’t get it.

Me too! I was masked, but it was for an hour. Carrot and I were in the same hotel room, then the same van for several hours with older son when he had covid and neither one of us got it. No masks either.

I reported it to my supervisor. She said I can't visit any facilities for five days even if I don't have symptoms. So I will do all the visits in Teams, have no driving, and get caught up on my documentation. I haven't been caught up for so long, I'm not sure how that will feel.

Rant warning! The plumber installed the new replacement sink sprayer and that POS leaked even worse than the one it was replacing. He tried everything for well over an hour and finally diagnosed what he believes to be a manufacturing defect. So, $300 later I have a sprayer that doesn't leak but also doesn't have the decorative metal part that should cover the interior brass stem. To say it's not my style would be putting it mildly, but it functions. I once again call the manufacturer and ask for ANOTHER replacement sprayer. He wants photos and an explanation of the problem - fine. Then he offers to send me a whole new faucet with sprayer. Oh no, as it is I'm down $300, will be down another $300 for the second try on just a sprayer. To install a replacement faucet and sprayer would be $500, which would bring me to $800, about 2/3 of what I paid for the damn faucet to begin with. I respectfully told him that if I had to replace the faucet, it would not be with his brand. He did say that if a new sprayer doesn't work, and if I have the original packing slip, they will refund me the purchase cost. And I do have the original packing slip The real irritation is trying to find another faucet that fits the holes in the sink. We both loath single-handle faucets and especially those pull-down things but that's almost all that's available now. I officially hate plumbing now - all plumbing. ETA: I am definitely NOT complaining about the cost - we have always planned for home maintenance by qualified pros. Some manufacturers do not warrant their materials for homeowner installation. If we could afford a $1,300 faucet, we can afford the maintenance. I AM definitely frustrated by defective parts causing me to spend $$ unnecessarily. Those who have family and friends to provide free labor are blessed in one way and we are blessed in another.

I just got back from Whole Paycheck. I was able to find turkey wings and thighs. If someone could clone a turkey with 6 wings, 8 thighs and a breast, I’d be good with that. I discovered wings make the absolute best stock. They are cheap and contain a ton of gelatin. Well, they’re cheap if you don’t buy them at Whole Paycheck! Unfortunately, Whole Paycheck is the only place selling turkey parts. No pearl onions.

Unfortunately, Whole Paycheck is the only place selling turkey parts. No pearl onions. Isn't that aggravating? I find wings at other stores, but no thighs, drums, or breasts other than already brined. I'm shocked they didn't have pearl onions - they are usually priced like genuine pearls but in stock.

I'm sorry for folks having to pay through the nose to get stuff fixed. Hubs has saved us a small fortune. Thankfully, son can do a lot and so can I. Of course, I have limits. But $800, just wow.
Today is going ok, hubs to the therapist tomorrow and next week for blood work. I'm going to watch him like a hawk and make sure he is not having more issues. I kept questioning him about the blood and he admitted he had a little. I don't think he should have any, but will see how it goes. He acts fine, but I am worried about him.
I have the trash out again to the dumpster, one litter box cleaned and in and the second soaking and will get it in too. Also the room vacced where they eat and sleep. Hubs and I opened a 5.21% CD for 7 months, we don't want to invest longer right now. Hubs even told the guy at the bank, wanted short term because we are considering relocating to Washington state and will need the money. That's a first.
We had an appointment with our neighbor who works for an insurance broker, we review our medicare coverage with her each year. She just lives down the road from us maybe a mile. She looked so tired. I asked her if she was doing ok as she looked tired. She looked like she was about to cry and I was worried I had said the wrong thing. She said my husband 2 weeks ago came in and told me he was getting a divorce and moving in with another woman. She said this was out of the blue, she had not seen it coming. That really upset me for her, she is a very nice person and he seemed to be too. They have a beautiful home they just redid a couple of years ago. Probably 6 to 10 acres next to the lake. Either her or his son had moved a mobile on the land and was married with a baby. But I think the problem could be, she moved her mom in with them a few years ago, maybe 3? and I'm betting that caused problems. I know it did for us. We couldn't deal with it more than a year or two. They had been married 16 years, maybe she is in her late 40's early 50's? Not that old. It's just you never know, honestly I would have never thought of them having something like that happen. I so hate to hear that. I hope she isn't forced to sell and move.

Having hot food and beverage for the first time today. Power was out for 18 hours and it’s below freezing outside. Still very grateful for plow operators and linemen, but pissed off at the administration of both. A storm comes and they’re not ready for it, despite media warning everyone what was coming. Plow drivers are saying they can’t plow because power lines are down and fallen trees are in the roads. Linemen say they can’t check the lines and fix them because the roads haven’t been plowed. By the time they finally get their acts together the linemen that were originally called in had to leave for their mandatory rest break, and they’re scrambling to find alternate crews to take over. Which there are some in neighboring cities, but what a surprise, the roads haven’t been plowed so they can’t come. Ugh. This would make me crazy! 5 mins without power, makes me cra-cra, if I'm alone in the dark. Glad it's back on, now and I assume plowed roads? Main roads are plowed (mostly) and they’re working on the rest. It will probably all be cleaned up just in time for the next storm later this week. It’s clear and sunny today. The snow is annoying, but all the snow covered trees make it absolutely gorgeous out there right now.

cooper88, I had Covid earlier this year and DH never got it, despite being in less than stellar health and us sharing a bed during all the time leading up to my positive test and following it, too. notagain, that's wonderful! soupandstew, I empathise with your plumbing woes. That stinks. I am glad you have something functional now even if it's not pretty.

DH has COVID right now. Dumbass ate FIL's leftovers. Dude, WTF did you think would happen if you ate food that someone else who had COVID just handled and ate. You may as well have licked the doorknob. Otherwise I think he could have probably avoided it even sleeping at FIL's house for two nights. I am negative, Gwen is negative and Abby is negative. He's on day 3-4 of being positive from the home test so we should be showing by now if we had it. Apparently getting it twice and getting knocked out by 3 shots was worth it.

Despite your net worth being considerable, much of that is for retirement and is sacred. I have money in my checking account, savings account, investment accounts, IRAs and 403bs. My savings account is our slush fund that TD knows he can tap if needed. We have not needed to tap any of our retirement accounts yet, but next year TD is going to start to empty his Canadian retirement account. The one thing we have discovered is that for so many years we have kept retirement accounts sacred that it is really, REALLY hard to touch them for their intended purpose! no kidding. I will have to take money out of my retirement funds next year as I will turn 73, but everything in me is screaming "but I don't need that money yet (true), I need to save it for when I do need it" So I'll be good and do what I have to but I don't like it one bit

We really struggled to shift out of savings mode into spending mode - it was very scary. And there is no manual.

I have to shave the shanks tomorrow as I have a mani-pedi appointment at 1. Which I need after today's stress. Thursday I'll try to get a haircut before our community Thanksgiving meal and annual elections. Friday I want to go to a larger grocery store for this and that that Aldi doesn't carry, and chicken leg quarters for T-day. And maybe put in a couple of hours on the book. Saturday is bathroom cleaning, Sunday is floor mopping and laundry, and the week goes around again.

OOO is up again for tomorrow, and I'm here for it! everything's on fire at more than one site, and I kinda don't care. my time isn't valued, and nobody listens to me anyway. I'm looking forward to ignoring my laptop tomorrow.
pups have been out cold since dinner, and grooming appointments earlier. I'm not sure what we are doing tomorrow, but it won't involve mud baths for them. lol...
oh, and apparently the landscape work is getting punted a week. the materials can't be delivered before Tuesday next week, and then the holiday. so we're just gonna punt a week to not have to worry about packing up early enough on Wed to secure the work site from the pups for the long weekend.
