House selling finalized today. There's an unseemly amount of money in my checking account. Congratulations! I had that happen when I divorced- marital home was sold in the AM, closing on the one I was buying in the PM. I remember going out to lunch at the local mall and thinking what a spending spree I could have... Come to think of it, I'm sitting on a pile of cash this morning. Garden Club meeting was yesterday and I'm Treasurer- the woman who acted as cashier at the weekend Plant Sale handed me a thick stack of bills and some checks- there's $1,500 in cash. That will go to the bank today or tomorrow. I continue to cycle through medical and dental appointments- nothing major but I'm on a 6-month or 12-month schedule on most things and they tend to cluster together. Last week was getting the crowns on my implants and my annual physical checkup; this week was a mammogram and today a dental cleaning. I'm done for awhile after that.

Vienna today.
Last night, we went to a winery for a wine tasting. Apparently, Viking has their own source of wine on this section of the Danube, and it is really quite excellent. The tour guide and the vintner were hysterical, as the vintner was a 4th generation wine maker who spoke little English and the guide was a former American. She came to Vienna on a Fulbright scholarship, met a guy and did a catch and release, kept the kids and country, released the guy. So now we need to figure out how to cram 6 bottles of wine in our luggage, the winery does not distribute to the US. We may need to get another suitcase.
Got into Vienna this morning, after having drunk entirely too much wine last night between the wine tasting, dinner and chatting in th3 lounge last night as we started off. Early morning tour, stopping at the old shopping district for an hour or so. TD took the time to search out some apple strudel, guide definitely pointed us in the right direction! Got a chance to see the Lipizzaner stallions this morning, gorgeous horses my MIL is going to adore the pics I sent her.
Tonight we have tickets to a Mozart and Strauss concert at the concert hall. We have a second day in Vienna tomorrow, where we see the Vienna Boys Choir and Schonbrunn Palace.
This trip has gone much too fast.

Good morning! I'm late getting on here even though the boy had me up at 2:45 this morning. I got sidetracked with playing games and then already did my biking for the day. I need to get my shower taken, a couple things done around the house, and then head out to spend some time with dad.
Hoping you all have a terrific Tuesday!

The 2 sump pumps in the basement don't work and the yard grading needs to be redone to direct water away from the house. My basement has one sump pump. It works so much that I have it on a maintenance schedule to replace every two years. After my basement flooded, I had the yard graded away from the house. It had settled since it was built and that was where the water was coming in. A sump pump installation here doesn't cost all that much for my piece of mind and I hear it running, so it's needed. I also have a battery back up. That cost more than the sump pump, but electricity can go and does go out during heavy rains. Why would someone try to sell a house that has moisture problems with sump pumps that don't work?

I am getting a very late start this morning. I can't believe I went to bed by 9 PM and didn't wake up until after 8 AM. I slept straight through and I never do that. Guess playing with the Toddler wore me out

Foot pain is my life, I have it all. There are some braces that go on the front of the leg and top of the foot that helped me some. But if you can find good orthotics, that will help more than anything, they are hard to find for sure. Get the absolute best quality shoes you can get. Apex, Orthofeet, they are clunky but really good. New Balance are good also as are Brooks. The ones I had made are $195 for one set and $295 for 2, but they are wonderful if you get them right. I don't know if any of you need too but I can sure attest that extra weight is the worst for your feet. Losing has really helped mine, though I still have pain, but at least it's not constant now. I'm still thinking that surgery may eventually help me, but that is down the road yet. I want to get max weight off before I even consider that and see if that solves it first. I have very expensive (so they better be good!) Orthotics and wear brooks shoes for walks/errands. I notice a difference if I go a period of time without wearing them so I think they are helpful. My foot pain has gotten worse with weight loss, better with activity but doesn't go away anymore. I think 10 years ago I had heel pain that I didn't really think much of, but I had one of my back episodes too. I found a chiropractor who felt like my back issues were caused by my hips and when those issues were resolved I suddenly didn't have any foot pain either. I've never had that luck again though. My current chiropractor did the orthotics and then has foot torture devices that don't make me excited to go back in for. I wonder if my PT doctor might have ideas. She's been like magic for my back.

I am in a pissy mood. I need an attitude adjustment.
I used have a professor that would joke about having a bottle of attitude adjustment in his file cabinet. I wouldn't be surprised if there was one in there.

Just gave Moon Shadow a piece of a large carrot to shut him up. He got less than his usual romaine lettuce today, so he wants his veggies. Weirdly Crestie did not go after the crickets last night, which I hope he did later when I was sleeping. Light rain outside and dark, not a motivating combination.

Surprise! The tree trimmers scheduled for 1-3 this afternoon showed up at 9. They are incredibly lucky we were home and gate was open. Otherwise they would have been SOL. I texted the office that I was not happy about the screw up and commented that wasting company gas and diesel was not cool at today's prices

My Daughter worked like 3:30 to 11 pm yesterday. She lives in MKE but works in Madison. After work she drove home, then decided to come to my house where her Rabbits live b/c I told her I was concerned about one of them not eating. She got to the house at 12:30 or so. I went down with some apple for her Rabbit, and she had her out on the Sofa. She said since her ears were perked up, she thought she was ok. I think she slept at my house but not sure, I went to bed. She was gone when I went to walk the dogs at 5 am. She had to work again at 7 am. Days are her normal shift - she has been covering for 2 employees on FMLA. I fed the rabbits this am, and the one we are worried about was eating the Timothy Hay and she ate a little apple. Hopefully she will start eating more.
Mom had Cataract Surgery this am. Brother just sent me a message that the surgery went well, Mom is home now. My Brother told her this weekend that due to her Alzheimer's diagnosis she couldn't drive anymore. Mom was really riled up about it when I was there yesterday, I tried to call one of her friends this am to give her some background, hopefully she will call me back. She was co-brownie leader with my Mom when I was a Brownie Girl Scout in 2nd/3rd grade. I am 58 years old, so it was a strange feeling placing a call to her this am.
DH said his brothers are replacing the roof on his office this weekend so they are not doing anything with their Mother for Mother's day. I will be able to just take my Mom someplace like Panera (or there is a Charcoal Grill by my house that does brunch) and not have to worry about entertaining a big group of people. Sent and e-mail to my Son. He is on a road trip with his Harley. I am not sure if I should include him in the count or not. I will see if we can get a reservation at Charcoal Grill after I hear back.

Got on of my re-certs done in record time today. It's supposed to be a 4 hour class and then an exam that you have 2 hours to complete. I'm like, I've done this every two years since the early 90's. Can I just take the test? After all, the caterers are back for the first time since covid and it's taco salad today! I was out of there in 35 minutes...only 20 minutes of which was the test. I think my proctor was happy to be done early too.

Waiting for my rapid test to run after getting an email notification of a positive case in DS‘ class, and wondering how we’re back here again Busy week. DS cut his foot wading in the river (his hip waders have wetsuit style foot protection, not enough) on Sunday badly enough that DH took him to the doctor for antibiotics. Prelim interview yesterday, meeting with the lawyer today to get started on estate plan (I know, we’re late, we suck.). Speech therapy place sent an email reminder that looked more passive aggressive than I‘m happy with...haven’t started with them yet, thinking of going elsewhere now Have to think about what to put in a thirty minute technical talk that doesn’t breach confidentiality. Babysitter off Friday afternoon and at least two days next week, maybe three The Walk of the Penguin Mich I am so enjoying your reports. They are taking me down memory lane, which was a lot less luxurious but also back when I could still drink wine without insta-migraine (and think it was fun to cram ten people in a room meant for four Maybe we’ll make it back there sometime.

I had my therapy appointment and came home to a quiet house as the big kids are out taking their SOL tests and DD has the baby and the 6 yo with her. It feels weird with an empty house after all the noise and hubbub of the last few days.
This afternoon Lilly (6 yo) and I are going for pedicures. They have a Princess one for little girls so I think she will enjoy it. I just finished cleaning up the kitchen. The island was a mess and needed cleaning off. I got most of it done but still need to do some laundry.

I made the 5am logan express bus, woo! I'll have time to grab something for breakfast when I get to the airport. and coffee. 😴 today's been expensive already, yikes. I hate airports for that reason. breakfast was a tasty bagel with smoked salmon and veggie fixins with coffee, $27 with tip at Davio's - the lines for DD 🤢 and Starbucks were wrapped around the terminal. nothing else was open yet whatever. now, I'm sitting at ATL waiting on my friends to pick me up, and I ordered a mimosa while I camp out with my laptop. $17 for a dinky little mimosa. 😳

Waiting for my rapid test to run after getting an email notification of a positive case in DS‘ class, and wondering how we’re back here again Last week, there were 8 kids in the kid's school that had covid. We're on an (un-explainable) mini-surge. 90% of those who can be vaccinated have had at least one shot in my county. We're not stuck indoors anymore. I'm not sure what's going on.

I'm trying to prepare for an in person team meeting next week, that we don't yet have an agenda for. For whatever reason, people on my team are antsy about this (probably b/c of no agenda, no idea what to expect, and leadership doesn't seem to be on the same page with each other). At this point I'm just like, whatever happens will happen and it'll be fine. But one coworker and I are already planning on a grocery run to pick up snacks and wine, so at least we'll have that to look forward to!

We have a receptionist at the office that was talking to one of my clients. This client calls everyone darling. Receptionist must not know this because she was all flustered by him "flirting" with her. She is so cute. So we keep saying that he's her man and everyone else needs to keep their hands off. Receptionist is in her 70s and the client is in his 20s. I bow down to the queen of the cougars. Yes, queen!

I feel so stupid. I thought I had lost a credit card a couple of months ago so called and had it replaced. After the new one arrived, I found the old one and thought I cut up the old one.
Yesterday the card was declined at two places and again this morning.
Guess which card I actually cut up? Yes, the current card which can now no longer be used.
This is the exact reason why I never travel without more than one card.
At least Amex doesn't have foreign transaction fees because this was a Capital One card with no foreign transaction fees.

I fixed it. I am a garlic fiend and the metal soap bar works fantastically at taking the smell away. You just rub it between your hands under running water. It usually takes less than 30 seconds and the smell is gone! Thank you. I too am a garlic fiend so the,, last couple of years I have cheated and bought chopped garlic. This wil be so much better I'm lazy AF and buy a vat of chopped garlic from Sam's.

My Mom's friend called me. Talked to her for quite a bit. The Granny's are fiery old ladies. Who wouda' Thunk it my Mom and her Friends would turn into that bunch. Friend Thinks my Mom should still be able to drive. They are ready to hire a lawyer. I think my DB is going to lose this battle. I am typing this with a smile on my face b/c I just think Mom and her Friend are so cute. That they all stay safe. She wants my brother to set up for Mom to retake her driver's exam, which I think is what he will have to do. Friend said my Mom was a better driver than her and that she should hire a lawyer. I am not really invested in Mom not driving. I felt she should be able to keep driving, but I didn't want to be the one that said it was not time, and then have something happen to her. Theo, my DD regularly misplaces her CC's. She freezes them and the if she finds them she unfreezes them. For awhile there if you went to a certain branch they would replace in-house. DD was very disappointed when they stopped doing that. It happens. Hopefully the replacement will come quickly. I also have been enjoying Mitch's reports. I would love to do a European River Tour, but DH gets motion sickness very easily and he says no cruises. We will get to Europe in the next year or two unless Covid nixes that.
