Sudafed is my go to when I know I have sinus issues. NyQuil is for the night, I get a NyQuil hangover, but I sleep like the dead. I use the Sudafed when it feels like my face is going to explode.
I hav3 never tried Sudafed and Flonase. I’m gonna have to try that combo!

In other news, my teeth woke me up last night, hurting, and it has been nonstop all day. I’m pretty sure it’s pressure from my sinuses because sinus issues have been giving me hell since last Sunday, and my ear on that side is also hurting. All of this random stuff is driving me crazy! If it’s not one thing, it’s another, or both, or a bunch of stuff. I.need.a.break. My mother used to say, "If it's not one thing, it's t'other" and she was right. Some days it just feels like the universe is taking a giant on us What doesn't kill you..... is only toying with you for now.

Sudafed and Flonase is the magic combo my DH uses when he can’t sleep bc he’s so stuffed up and working on getting a sinus pain induced migraine. Which, in Texas, is fairly often.

The instructions for hubs was half a bottle of miralax in 32 ounces of Gatorade. 1/2 of 8.3 ounces. It has done nothing. This worries me as I assume they are doing this for at least a partial cleanout. I wondered about it as I have taken it and it does nothing much for me. Sure it softens the stool. He followed the liquid diet all day also.
We have reread the instructions several times so no mistaking it. Perhaps since his bowel is not involved its just for softening later. Seems weird to me.

Sudafed is great for head and sinus congestion, will dry it right up. Sudafed PE (phenylephrine) is the follow on placebo they started offering when the meth cookers caused the real stuff to require a drivers license at the pharmacy with a weekly limit on amounts OMG. I don’t know where that migraine came from but it was absolutely debilitating. Both kinds of Rx meds and I stil had three rounds of puking and spent most of the day semiconscious. Had a couple of important meetings too…the morning one I had to skip out for a round of puking; afternoon one went OK but coworker kinda screwed it up. Oh well. I think the project is actually looking decent and stands a real chance of continued funding. Fingers crossed for normal functioning tomorrow.

His surgery is 12:30 tomorrow and he is allowed to drink nothing else after midnight. I sure hope it works for him.
DD's behavioral counselor is coming at 9 in the morning to help with DD. She gets her monthly anyway so this worked out ok.

I gave the cats that bit of salmon last night. Smoke nibbled on it and Mr Hungry Gut wouldn't touch it. What is it that they don't like food other animals would fight to get. No steak no nothing of real food will they eat. I know they need certain things from cat food but I would think real food would be better for them overall supplemented with cat food. It is really nice out 72. I turned the furnace off and opened a door, hope we don't get buried in stink bugs. Sushi gets a small can of cat food in the morning, then chicken at night. He would KILL for smoked salmon. Too bad they don't make smoked salmon wet food. I would kill for smoked salmon! 😁

I would kill for smoked salmon! 😁 I buy something like this. It's the bits and pieces of smoked salmon which are too thick or too small to be cut into those ultra-thin uniform slices. Exact same fish. I get about a pound for $14.00. Dice it up fine and serve on bagels or in scrambled eggs and you literally cannot tell the difference. Look for it in the frozen fish section of your supermarket, especially if they have a kosher section. www.seacoreseafood.com/product/smoked-scokeye-salmon-trimmings

I've never noticed such a thing, anywhere I've ever shopped. But now that I know it exists, I can look for it, or inquire about it. I will do that. I don't need perfectly sliced pieces. Perhaps maybe tomorrow. That would make me happy.

Good morning, convalescent and care taking invisipeeps, fortifying yourselves with OTC meds. Welcome to Tuesday. I hope this day offers you and yours relief for all problematic symptoms, and healthy food for all family members, human and not. And if you are symptom free, I hope you also find yourself seeing sounds and tasting numbers, or something like that. Unless that would make you uncomfortable, in which case, carry on. Today I need to organize things for the fair this Saturday. We're offering cards and assorted other Finnish items. And, I need to begin preparing for a show at the arts center which will be on display for a few weeks beginning early November. And buy some Neo-Synephrine. I remember that stuff from many years ago. Don't know why I haven't bought any in so long. I do hope those of you in pain find complete relief today. I wish DH would stop using all the kitchen towels as pot holders. Yesterday pre-dawn and dawn were really nice, and the sunset was spectacular:

Just finished training that I should have completed a month ago and forgot about. And I have a meeting with my manager in an hour in which I am sure it will be a hot topic. Though I have a plan for that.

Apparently I'm a week overdue on something that came to me in August but for which I could not complete until 10/1 when the contract ended.
I would like to take some time to rest today but my inbox and calendar aren't showing big possibilities for that. Wednesday looks better. I did sleep last night only waking up a few times.
Need to finish my coffee and eat so I can take more advil. I try not to take it on an empty stomach.

My first thought waking up this morning was Crap! I forgot to check if I'm needed for jury duty today!
I'm not. But I do have jury duty until the middle of January.

I very much enjoyed my two days unplugged, but I am definitely paying for it today. also - I wish I was kidding. I finally moved my mailbox a week or so ago, to the other side of the driveway as it kept getting hit. it has been completely busted up and doesn't fully close anymore, held on to the post by a bungee cord (I wasn't replacing it til I moved the post.... I just need to buy a new one now. ) well, I put my trash/recycling barrels out on the side where the mailbox was, per usual. this week, I stacked two busted deck chairs on top of the barrels for pickup. I just looked out my window and the chairs are now toppled over - which means someone hit the barrels.

I’m just curious. How is a balanced, natural diet not better than cat chow? Feral cats don’t eat cat chow, but them seem to be just fine. Natural includes bones. When cats eat rodents, they eat the bones as well. As I mentioned earlier, ground up whole rabbit (including bones) was the optimal source of ‘meat’ for cats, according to the research I read on it. I also have to wonder how long it would take to kill my food processor! Sourcing was the issue for the rabbit though. DH hates DD's Rabbits and really wants to get rid of them. I always worry that someone with snakes will take them to feed the snakes. Now I have to worry what someone with cats might do with them. Her boyfriend is allergic to them, so even when she leaves, I think they will stay with us. ETA: Pink - Congratulations on Mister's Promotion. I hope your teeth stop hurting. I wondered when I read they hurt, if you were clenching your teeth at night. I do that when I am under stress. I try to sleep with an OTC mouth guard in to keep myself from grinding my teeth. I don't have your sinus problems though, so you probably have other issues going on. I am thinking about using DD's IP to cook up some BSCB for my dogs. We usually give them a bit of ham or leftover meat on top of their dog food. I like that it is cooked in batches and then thrown in the freezer. Thinking of CG and her DH today - hope everything goes well. Finnime- I love all the purple and pink in your Sunset Picture. Girammoma, hope you feel better today. I never commented on Acuzena's issues with her DH's drinking. DH's family has a few we think of as Functional Alcoholics, but then one is in Jail rn for Drunk Driving and another got kicked out of a work training recently b/c he had been drinking. He got told to go sober up, but did not get fired. My DH says he has too much responsibility to drink and go to work the next day, I am thankful for that, as his best friends once offered him a job that would have required us to move to their city and he would have been drinking after work with them a lot. I ended up telling him that if we relocated to , he would be back in his hometown every weekend and even on weekdays when him Mom called and needed him to handle something for her. DD said she got up the other night and he was apparently talking to his Mother about one of his brothers. She had been to see him and felt he was not doing well. He is about 56 or 57 and is in a nursing home due to drinking/refusing to acknowledge that he is diabetic, and his liver is apparently damaged. That is 3 of his 7 brothers. The friends I mentioned are drinkers too. One is about 62 and his wife recently left him due to his drinking - seems as though he has serious health issues due to his drinking, and the other one is divorced from wife 1 (she claimed b/c of his drinking) and wife 2, has complained about the drinking too. I agree that something like Al-anon would be a good resource for you.
My one SIL talked about all the ways her DH hid his drinking years ago, and she said she only realized after the fact that he was seriously buzzed and driving their kids around. She said friends would notice how sloshed he seemed to get in a short time, and she only found out when he went to rehab that he pre drank to get a buzz before he went to a party, so people woudn't see how much he was drinking. After that I was much more careful about who I let drive my kids around. One of DD's good friends the Mom his a heavy drinker. I got willing to drive both ways, or took the pickup (instead of the drop off) so that they would not be drinking and then pick the kids up from an event afterwards.
Even though I said my one BIL showed up at a work event drunk recently, I am very hopeful that he will sober up again. He seems to have been on the wagon for the better part of 10 years. He has to go to Vegas for work a few times a year, and my SIL said his sobriety always seems to slip when he goes there. My son said it was disappointing to hear b/c my BIL's success at kicking his drinking habit is kind of the model everyone wants to aspire to. He has been a very good Dad and is a wonderful grandpa. His Granddaughters love being with him. Prayers for everyone struggling with Alcoholism in their lives.

I always worry that someone with snakes will take them to feed the snakes. Now I have to worry what someone with cats might do with them. Her boyfriend is allergic to them, so even when she leaves, I think they will stay with us. It was funny…..when I started doing the research into this, I discovered the best source was biological supply companies. This makes sense, as we used rabbits all the time to make antibody for our research. However, you had to buy the carcasses in bulk and I would have needed a mega freezer to keep a stash if I bought from here. The next step would be procuring from restaurant supply stores, and rabbit wasn’t always available. This was considerably more money too. That’s why I just went back to cat chow. Sometimes, to do things correctly is harder than you’d think. Money, living situation and time all played into it, for what I’m sure was an excellent benefit. But how much more benefit for considerable effort and cost? BTW…..I have had to sacrifice rabbits as part of my job. We sedated them, and bled them out. I hated it, but luckily only had to do it occasionally. Once we got a good supply of antibody, it was sufficient for years. I doubt someone would go after a pet rabbit for this. Feeding a snake? Maybe because snakes usually prefer live prey (or at least our snake did). This way, the snake does th3 work, not you.

Last night I finally sat down with TD to determine what is his preference, diving or Angkor Wat. Without skipping a beat, he said diving. Trying to do them both just got much too complicated, visa-wise and travel-wise.
So he is getting a dive vacation before we get onto the ship in Bangkok next March. I still have to get visas for Cambodia, Vietnam and now Indonesia but the latter is an e-visa. I can now book flights and hotels. Visas need to be sent for next month as the company needs about 6 weeks and we need passports back by mid Jan.
It looks like the one thing I don’t need to do is to procure pet sitters.

I am going to get some Sudafed today and try that. I’d forgotten I had some Flonase, I tried that this morning, and soon after, realized I hadn’t been able to breathe out of that nostril. Mister said “I asked you last night if you could breathe okay and you said yes” and I told him that I’m so use to not being able to breathe well, that it feels normal until something happens to open things up. He thinks I should consider going to the dentist to make sure it’s not actually my teeth. I’ve done that before, and spent a bunch of money on x-rays and stuff, it’s not been my teeth. I’m pretty sure it’s my sinuses. I couldn’t even eat last night, because even chewing soft stuff on the other side of my mouth, it hurt when my teeth touched. Anyway, enough about that. I am thinking of you and your DH today countrygirl2. When you get back home and get settled, please let us know how everything went. giramomma and lurkyloo, I hope you both are feeling much better today. I hope I didn’t forget anyone that wasn’t feeling well yesterday. I guess I will piddle around the house until it’s time for my Dr. appointment this afternoon.

The arborist has come and gone with our commitment of $572 for a fall and spring feeding. And the meats are repackaged and in the freezer.

For cats in nature, they actually eat bones and they need the minerals they get from eating bones. When I did the research, there was an optimal way of getting bone into their diets. Cats are strict carnivores and have different nutritional requirements. I think one site I looked at suggested ground up whole rabbit as the best source of food, because the bones ground well and it contained all of what was needed. Sourcing it was another issue. oh wow, that's interesting. bc the one time LD counter surfed and got sick, it was bc he snarfed more than half of a full chicken with all the bones. that said, can cats do onion and garlic? honest question, I don't know No! Alliums (onion, garlic, chive, leeks) are poisonous to cats.

At the hospital, hubs went in an hour early. They said that is unusual, we were happy about that, no sitting and waiting for hours. It's sad because he is so healthy otherwise, but I'm hoping it all goes well.
I sure like this hospital, with each group asked if we needed anything. They went through all the info thoroughly and so we could understand it. I have been here before and really liked it. I told hubs if I have to come anyplace quick, bring me here. Our local hospital doesn't handle stuff like this. And the HCA bunch, forget them, don't care for them.
So now its just waiting,so I had lunch, they have a very nice salad bar and other foods. The lobby area is nice all big windows and sunny.
And DD's behavioral person got her today. They were going to Olive Garden and probably Five Below. She will be a happy camper and I should be home in time to get her dinner. Hubs said just go on home, I told him I'm not about to leave him alone, if it gets to be after 6 or something, well then I have to but don't foresee that.
I hadn't really paid attention until last night. But our tempurpedic beds have lights underneath. He was wanting something on in case he had to hurry to the bathroom. The lights illuminate well and don't shine in your eyes or anything so very nice. We will use them more often.
We close on the house next week, they had it moved up as needed to termite it. Apparently never been done, guess VA required it. They are doing that today.
So as of right now, all is well. I dread his recovery, keeping him down is going to be a BIG problem I think.
