I heard hubs laughing awhile ago, he said come here. I went in the kitchen, there is a large dutch oven on the stove and Smoke was trying to get in it. It's not that big, he gave up, hubs thought that was really funny. I told him if my mom had seen something like that she would have said, you have gotten that dirty that a cat is on your stove? I don't think she would have appreciated it, LOL! Anyway we had a chuckle.
I'm getting my shower, quit for today.
I may sort paper work after while and pay a few bills not on autopay.

I am in disbelief.
On hubs instructions before surgery. It actually says take a bath the day before surgery and please take another bath before coming to your surgical appointment. Then it says also wear clean clothing.
Are we so dumb now they have to say such as this? I guess so.
I have felt a bit off yesterday and today. I feel what feels like a rash coming on the left side of my face and its a bit sensitive. It's not noticeable yet to anyone but me. I sure hope I'm not getting something like shingles, that's all I need. Hubs and I were going to get another shot after we found out we should just a few days ago but didn't get a chance.
That's all I need is to get sick when hubs needs help, please say it isn't so. Going to look up symptoms.
I bought 6 donuts, something we have not had in forever. I must say they were delicious, I almost fought hubs for his 2 but didn't. DD only ate 1 so hubs got 3. I think those were the best tasting ones I've eaten since I don't know when. But didn't need those so sure wouldn't need anymore.

Since he's 18, can Mel refuse to let him stay? He's an adult. He has absolutely nowhere to go. No friends, no contact with his dad, and no money. He'd be living on the streets. Melody would never do that. She loves her son, despite all his crap. It sucks for Melody it really does but after a point your son needs to ask himself if this relationship is worth getting killed over. Or having a heart attack due to stress. Your son has been hiding in his freaking car to avoid the cross fire. It may make me selfish but self preservation should kick in eventually. It's understandable for Melody to not want him on the streets and is apparently willing to endure abuse to prevent it. He's not your son's kid. You can be compatible in a lot of ways and still discover a giant red flag. It's okay to say it's too much.

I just had a scare. I got a bill from the utility company that said I was delinquent. Um, excuse me? I'm so anal about paying my bills on time that I knew there was a mistake. My bill isn't due until 10/23. Apparently they treat each house as a separate account. So I owe them for September and up to 10/12. Ok, fine. Since I turned it off they issued a new bill and called the one I would have paid on 10/23 delinquent and the now bill and a half has to be paid by 11/7 to avoid interruption of service. I already turned the utilities off. Interrupt all you want. I'm just going to pay it in full on Friday and call it a day. I clarified that I am not being charged a late fee because I'm not paying anything late. My utility company did the same thing.

I have an appointment with my PCP tomorrow because, of all things….. my belly button has been bothering me. I feel silly even saying that. It started when I got up Saturday morning, and it wasn’t because pajamas or whatever were irritating it, because I don’t sleep in pajamas.
It is kind of itchy, and it doesn’t exactly hurt, I would say it’s just feels uncomfortable. But it is annoying, so I called yesterday morning to make an appointment. This morning when I first got up, it wasn’t bothering me, and I considered canceling my appointment so I wouldn’t have to take off work. I’m glad I didn’t cancel the appointment though, because started bothering me again, it’s just not constant like it had been. It’s actually not bothering me as I type this.
Leave it to me to have yet another weird thing going on. Sigh. I felt silly saying my belly button was bothering me when I was making the appointment yesterday and they asked the reason for the appointment. I feel silly typing it here, and I felt silly saying it to Mister over the weekend. But I kept rubbing my belly, he noticed, and asked me why.
It’s not something that is so awful that it keeps me from doing stuff, it is just really annoying, and I want it to stop.

I don't know what it is with Monday nights but for many months now I have had trouble sleeping on Monday nights. This morning I saw it turn 5:30 and next thing I know it is 11am. So dirty Harriet is staying dirty until at least Thursday. If I get to the carwash place after 10am I might as well call it a day due to the long wait time. So many full service places have closed here the last couple of years that there are few other options unless I am willing to drive 15+ miles to get it done and I am not so dirty Harriet will have to wait.

Country - hospitals are doing everything they can to lower infection rates. For a couple surgeries, DH was given prescription antibiotic soap to use night before and morning off.

Ok, that makes sense. But I do see a lot of guys around here and in the city in dirty clothing. I'm glad hubs is a neat clean person. I've had surgery before and just never saw anything like that.
Now I'm having some pain too on the side of my face and neck, oh joy.
That may be the reason, my realtor has to have surgery again as she has an infection in her spine surgery and it hasn't healed in a spot. Hear of another either knee or hip with infections too.

I just sent off a post full of questions to a Jewish friend of mine, re: the shit with Hamas/Israel, but more so on how Israel came to be and how we got to where we are. I'll admit that I am incredibly ignorant on the history of that area of the world, but I'd like to learn. what little I do know is what was taught in my Catholic childhood.
I still have questions. if I may PM anyone, I'd love to. I don't want to create (arguments? guessing from what i said before PB edited), I'm just trying to understand the history I never learned. TIA

I missed what the surgery will be. Clean body and clothes will be helpful in keeping infection down. I'm sure some people don't bath or change clothes regularly, Or go for surgery after caring for their animals.
I hope all goes well.

Today she said she wanted my cousin to go to assisted living and then let Medicaid pay for it when the money is gone. She was surprised to learn that Medicaid doesn't cover assisted living. She does agree that at this point, she doesn't need a nursing home. That's truly sad - so many people think assisted living is covered by Medicaid and/or Medicare. Unfortunately for many, it isn't. She sent me another message that she thinks a woman who lives near her mom in assisted living is on Medicaid. I suggested she talk to the office so she knows where things stand. Iowa did not expand Medicaid. That hurts these kinds of people.

My apt maintenance guy was just at my place, checking an electrical issue. He accidentally let a wire hit a metal part of a switch and blew the breaker. Nothing in my living room works, or my kitchen lights. My cable, internet and phone don't work either. Not until they can get an electrician out to fix it, tomorrow at the soonest. I am not a happy camper! Especially since it was his fault! And they won't pay for an electrician to come after 5pm. He just said, Oops! Sorry about that. The supervisor said, Yeah, that would suck.
I wish I could afford to move from here. 😫🤬😫🤬

My dad had to use this kind of soap when he had his pacemaker replaced. Neither my sister or I could do it so my niece did it.

This is SOP of every surgery I have ever had. One surgeon I heard of had you change the bed in the few days leading up to surgery. It’s all to lower your bacterial load on your skin. You can’t be sterile, but you can carry less microbes on it. I am surprised they didn’t give him the chlorhexidine scrub to use. You can buy it, and I would consider this if he wasn’t given it.

I finally found my parent's wedding record online. The spelling was totally messed up on the index. My dad lied and said it was his first marriage. His divorce was final just 6 weeks before. There's also a different witness than I was always told

The weather is comfortable here, but folks like me who have allergies are rather miserable. I'd like to be able to open the windows to air out the house once more before Winter hits, but until we get our first hard frost, that's not going to happen.

Mister has applied for another promotion at his job, and is in the process of applying for 2 more. Sunday I proofread the part of his application for one job, that asks questions about KSA’s. His real job is a supervisor in the maintenance department, but he has not worked his real job in over a year now, and has been filling in for higher level managers in the maintenance department. Those are the kind of jobs he is applying for now. When I was proofreading the KSA’s for the one job, I didn’t know what the hell he was talking about in some of his answers, because the answers boiled down to his knowledge of mechanical type shit.
But regardless of how I “talk” here, I actually am very good at writing, and also good at proofreading, so I was able to help him with things from that angle. And because I asked for clarity on some stuff, because I didn’t even know what he was talking about in a few answers and I needed clarity to make certain things make sense, he said that my ignorance about mechanical type stuff was actually useful in that instance, because his applications for promotions go beyond the maintenance department and are read by people that don’t have knowledge about mechanical type stuff like I don’t, so it needs to make sense to them too.
So he was notified today that he has an interview tomorrow, for a job that he isn’t even sure he wants. It would be a promotion, but since he works for the federal government too, promotions do not always mean a lot more money. Any of these jobs will be a little more money if he gets one of them, but he’s not really chasing money anymore. His income is already more than he ever imagined was possible for him, and is more than enough for him to take care of his responsibilities and still have some money to have fun with. He doesn’t like having to deal with employees though, especially the ones that just like to talk, and go on and on about their personal lives, instead of just telling him what they need from him. If an employee says they need a day off work, he doesn’t care to hear why, he will give it to them. If they need some time off work during a time that makes things complicated, a brief explanation of why they really need it, is good enough for him to try to do everything he can to accommodate them and give them that time, even if there is some backlash, but he is still not interested in all the details and long stories.
I guess his thing now, is that if he works in upper management, there will be a buffer between him and employees, because there is a chain of command, they will need to go through their supervisor before coming to him.
Whatever the reasons, I support him in chasing whatever promotions he wants. And it felt good to me, to come through when he asked, and help him with his KSA’s on an application.

He wasn't, I use to use it. And I have 2 new sheet sets for the bed I'm washing and putting one on the night before also. And have sterile pads to put under him when he comes home. I can guarantee he and the place will be clean. Our beds are 2 xl twins on the same base so I don't sleep on his, nor he mine.
I haven't had any surgery in 20 years I suppose, so didn't do that.
I just added up my calories for the day. I'm ok, but on the edge with the 2 donuts. I don't eat anything like that unless I have eaten less of other items. But won't happen again for a long time. They were sure good though, but took up way to many calories that I could have used for more nutritious foods though.

And I don't want to stay somewhere else, since I just got home. Plus, I'm not a morning person and don't want to get up early, to come home. I'm just pissed off about it. I guess this is one way they can get back at me, for complaining about them blocking my garage, to upper management.

I'd like to be able to open the windows to air out the house once more before Winter hits, but until we get our first hard frost, that's not going to happen. My house is too hot for me to be comfortable, and I will open the windows in the bedroom in a few minutes, to hopefully cool it off before I try to sleep. I have an air purifier in the bedroom, and I will turn it on on high, to hopefully help with whatever allergens float through the window screens, into the bedroom. The weather here is in the time period where it’s almost winter one part of the day, and summer during another part. With all of the recent issues with our local utility company, I’d rather not use more of the resources they provide, than I have too. If opening the windows to cool our bedroom tonight causes more problems than it solves, I just won’t do it again.

We haven't had our windows open since before harvest started and I'm not now. There is nothing but dust everywhere. Our filter system takes it out of the air in here and since the heat is on, it runs at times. We are very comfy at night as I turn it down. When outside the last few days, sneezing, and eyes watering. This home is tight and system works well to keep the air clean. The filters for the system are huge and expensive, only change them twice a year.
I just don't feel up to par tonight, hopefully sleep well and feel better in the morning.

Some assisted livings in my state take Medicaid. They are becoming fewer and further between, though. Also, the monthly copays are going up, and many who qualify for Medicaid don't have enough income to afford the copay.

Most in Iowa are no longer taking it up front. Some aren't taking it period resulting in homeless old people.
I know the mentality of the old YM and less so here now was if you can't 100% fund yourself you deserve whatever happens. No comfy life on the dole for you.
But after seeing nursing home care ot ain't no comfy splendid life even in a home like my grandma's and given it's approached $9200 a month and set to increase again I'm skeptical that anyone fully fund care just through investing.
Something needs to change. We're part of the developed world and supposedly one of the richest but we're just A-OK with saying old people can be homeless or the family should face generational poverty caring for said elders just so people can crow that their tax dollars aren't "being wasted"
Yuck. I'd much rather pay so old people have care than pay to watch Republicans play musical Speaker chairs.

I just saw that we will have temperatures in the 90s again the coming days. After a couple of really early hot spells in April and May, we had a nice summer, and we even "missed" the late August/early September dog days. But here we are again - for the second time this month. LeSigh- I'm completely over this weather nonsense. Time for tbe rains to start and fill up the reservoirs again.

At my other house, I use to open the windows whenever the weather was suitable. I use to especially open then as often as possible in spring, to get fresh air inside, around the same time that I did my spring cleaning, which I use to be much more serious and better about doing. Since I’m scary, my dogs would be in the fenced in back yard whenever I had the windows in the back of the house open at night. I was very confident that nobody could get in my backyard without there being a lot of noise and commotion because of my dogs, never mind getting close to the house undetected. I don’t have that same kind of confidence here, but in my bedroom, the windows are high enough off the ground that someone would need at least a short ladder to get in the windows, so hopefully that would make enough noise to be heard. I really wish that my life was such that I could be comfortable opening windows on my house without worrying about my safety. I use to work with a lady that had a house built about an hour from where we worked. She lived alone, and use to leave her windows open, even while she was at work. I couldn’t, and still can’t imagine, but I always wished I could have her mindset and live somewhere that I could be like her, feeling so safe and comfortable.
