I am waiting for hubs to get home from his PMSA Pet scan. I didn't go to this one, he didn't think it was necessary. And my understanding is he will get info on Monday, I hope he is right about that. And I hope its not in his bones, we will know very soon. I know no matter which way this goes it will change our lives significantly and I'm not sure either of us is totally prepared for it. He said next week is going to try and get everything done he can to winterize things. Getting old is traumatic. But at least we have made it this far and is a lot longer that many have been able to live, so for that I'm grateful. My big kitty came up to lie on my lap and purr. And I have talked to son today. I'm not a dr, nor do I play one on tv. If your DH hasn't felt achy in his bones or paused wondering about aches et...I think that is a really, really good sign. My dad went to the dr (urgent care) because his bones felt like achy like he had the flu. That was his prostate cancer symptom. There's a quilting blogger I read. She was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. She didn't really have any symptoms, other than she thought her arthritis was acting up. Turns out, it was cancer in her bones..

I used to do that when I worked at the job that I retired from. It was first thing in the morning every single day. That was one of a zillion reasons why I took the early out offer. I had frequent headaches when I was working at a place that was toxic. Your body knows and tries to tell you. So sorry you're not feeling well. So much this!

Next week Carrot has a 5 day weekend for MEA and I really wanted to do one last vacation for the year...maybe head up to the North Shore for a few days and do some hiking or something like that, but now that it's almost here, I'm not feeling it so much.

Completely shocked DH with the news that his mom does not care for mashed potatoes. She would eat them if she was starving, but she grew up very poor on a farm where potatoes were a staple and mashed is the only way her mom prepared them so she ate plenty before leaving home. His mind was blown, wondering what is wrong with her. It is HIS mother and he does not know these things, but my lack of intimacy (not sex related) is our biggest issue in his eyes. My nephew can't stand mashed potatoes. He will literally gag. I think it's the texture. He'll eat potato chips and French fries, but mashed is a no go. He's the only person I know that won't eat them.

I was an adult before I ate mashed potatoes. It was a texture issue for me as well. I had a similar issue with beans. I trained myself to eat/like beans as an adult by doing the 10 exposures thing you are supposed to do with kids.
Still cannot stand the texture of sweet potatoes unless they are in my curried corn chowder. I've tried them so many different ways. Nope can't do it I gag if I eat sweet potatoes by themselves.

T1 will gag at pinto beans. I don't like them unless they're in something like a burrito or chili or something. Just a side of beans is a no for me. I realize how brown I am, I still don't like it.

Beans and ham was what my dad wouldn't allow mom to make. She only cooked it if she knew he wasn't going to be home. So he had to be going to a bowling tournament out of town.

This is the year that we really want to do all the things with the missy. She's at that fun stage where she is up for anything.
I told DH we need to be careful. She's 5, and she's still getting exhausted from Kindy. If we run her ragged, she's going to get sick(er). Would there even be color up on the North shore? We have such little color and most of the leaves are on the trees. I'm betting we'll still have green trees in november.

According to the DNR map, Duluth is at about 75%-100% peak now, further up the shore is past peak. This was from the 22nd of Sept from Britton Peak which is near Lutsen. I'm guessing that would all be mostly brown and bare by next weekend.

so, remember me asking y'alls opinion on me having to figure out logistics to get myself up to Salem on a Friday afternoon in October for a wedding reception? well, today's the day. I'm still sitting on the back deck. I talked to both parents earlier today, and didn't make any comments either way about whether I was going or not. my sister knows I bailed. can't wait to hear about my no-show tomorrow.
<clink> cheers to the happy couple. they posted around noon that the ceremony had happened already, with some pics.

Rocking out to nineties and early aughts music courtesy of my old ipod, which was last updated maybe 2009. Counting Crows on right now as my brain continues to refuse to focus on this damn report. Edit: 70s and 80s too, hello Bob Seger and the Bruce

Another exciting day here that saw toilets cleaned, Halloween decorations placed, and $30 paid to a guy to paint our house number on the curb. The top thriller was researching the 14 state constitutional amendments on our ballot this year. Most of the amendments are so blatantly political pandering to special interest groups that I'm only voting in favor of 6 of them. The amendments basically read like a list of the governor's major campaign contributors. Much more fun was being on an email chain with our community association's attorney - the guy is super bright, creative, and loves to poke bears and burst fools' bubbles. I need to get some new large-scale Halloween decorations for next year which can be my birthday gift to myself . I did really good this year and didn't buy a single new fall item which was tough.

I'm waiting in Friday the 13th lines to get my ears repierced cheap. I'm really leaning in to this self employed thing.

Also in case anyone was wondering, the Buffalo sauce at BWW is really spicy! Oh sweetie…….. Is that a HIMYM reference? Because I resemble that remark. I had struck up a conversation with a guy sitting by me at the bar at BWW. He said she could tell I was struggling. The bartender offered to get me different wings but my mama didn't raise no bitch so I ate them anyway.

I'm not self-employed, but I'm about 3.5y of WFH. and yes to all of this flexibility in your day. I actually block out 2h around lunch-ish, and work my 8h(also, ish) around that break. welcome to your new world!

I just hit the grocery store and $140 later….. The Great Pumpkin arrived and refilled the trick or treater’s candy pumpkin. I suspect it’s going to need to be refilled again before Halloween. It would probably help if I didn't buy our favorites. Chicken legs and chicken thighs were on sale for 0.99/lb. Good deal, so bought a couple packages of thighs. Then I went around to the other side of the display, and the leg/thigh quarters were $1.99/lb. Things that make you go hmmmm,…….

I really need to go out more. First I had to Google what BWW stands for and then I discover there is one like 2 miles from here - in a shopping center I occasionally go to - the only one I actually go to - so I should have known. Then again it is the center that has the nearest Target to me and I have not found anything I like or need there for so long I no longer go to the store and I gave my gift card to DDIL this summer just to get rid of it. My in store shopping days, with the exception of food and Costco, may be just about over. No enjoyment left in there for me

NastyWoman - you're not missing much, it's a chain. the only reason I went was that it was on my way home from work and a friend was a bartender. my favorite thing on the menu was the happy hour nachos with added grilled chicken. so, a reasonable portion of pub nachos for like $6. I just reached out to the realtor I used to buy this current place, with a request for a market analysis and a heads up that I don't love the new plans for the encroaching development and waking up to my house vibrating at 7am on weekends from the heavy machinery. I've said here, and I reiterated to him just now, I knew when I bought this house that it wasn't my "forever house" but that things have changed to alter the timelines. so I'm just exploring my options. he seemed pretty sure I could pull in $600K right now, which I laughed at.

Well my day sucked. I thought overall I was doing pretty good at my job only to find out I'm pretty much in the same boat I was before.
I ended up crying which was embarrassing but I couldn't help it.
I told DH it would bug me so much if I didn't know there were others who aren't doing their jobs well or are slacking and it's never addressed. T before she left would take 4 hour naps right in the lab.
We were told nothing could be done about it.
Yeah I'm not happy. I keep getting a larger workload while I can't figure out what the people who's job I've been given are doing all day now.
And I apparently cannot satisfy anyone here with my performance.
I told DH this just reinforces to me I'm beyond broken and will never fix myself.
My partner in crime at work said that's not what anyone below management thinks. Many of my coworkers want me moved up and put on the bench. They've told me I am being wasted.
But it's management that controls that and today it was made pretty clear I'm not considered promotion material even though administrative work and bench work are two different things. My benchwork what little I get is impeccable.

I'm sorry drama. I feel every bit of what you said. It is one of the reasons why I'm looking.
I know so much of your time has been sucked up with elder care. Anything you can do outside of work to reengage in hobbies and what not could help with knowing you are being wasted.
