Good morning and happy Saturday, indefatigable invisipeeps, creating your home spaces and defending them from destruction in any form. I hope your today is peaceful and, as they say, brings you joy. And ice cream. Can't forget the ice cream. Today is the day DH, DD and I were going to go to New Hamprhire to dine with extended family and go leaf peeping on the way. But, DD was sick yesterday so she's opted out and it's supposed to rain throughout New England today so the leaves will (probably) have to wait. DH and I are still going. I'll ask DD to check in on Franklin the Dog at some point so he won't be alone for too too many hours. The restaurant we're having our meal at is a Brazilian gaucho buffet where they bring meats to you and carve at the table. Should be good. We've been to one before in D.C. that was excellent. DH did finally call his nephrologist on Monday and has been waiting on a call back all week. But, nothing. Now he's thinking of going to the office in person and getting an appointment to get started on preparing for dialysis. When I think about it I realize that I've not lived alone, really, ever. I met my first husband in college and we began living together then. I married him just as I graduated. He was a perfectionist and pretty compulsive, also a collector of Things. So over time he shaped our homes. I just cleaned them and kept up with the kids' spaces. When we separated I had the kids. Current DH and I started living together and the habits I'd developed with first husband were pretty much entrenched. Now I keep things in a state of mild disarray, working around the messes DH makes pretty much. I would like to become more intentional about how things are set up. Yesterday had some fog in the morning, obscuring the sun. It was nothing like the pea soup on the day before. I took this picture for serenity now:

At work. Figured I could get 4 hours in before picking up our Chicken Q meals at noon. Been bleeding money the past few weeks and need to start making some instead.

Our heat went on. We had a 40 degree temperature change in less than a week. Unreal.

I'm going to the Farmer's Market today. I've been skipping it most weeks because the best produce vendors aren't there this year. The local organic meats guy will be there and has lamb chops this week. That's worth the trip!

I just got back from the grocery store, and am about to start cooking. the rain hasn't started yet, so I've got the door wide open for the pups to come and go as they please. first up is to mix up some egg salad for my breakfast. I boiled and peeled the eggs yesterday. just haven't dressed it as I share the chopped eggs with the pups. I mix salad when I want some, and then less goes to waste if I don't eat all of it.

Rain has ended here and the sun is shining. Need to shower before parking my butt in the recliner to watch the O's game.

Ours is on too. HUGE difference with the new furnace and clean vents. Apparently our vents like to eat markers. Found a ton of them while they were being cleaned out.

It's cold here, was 49 this morning and now 53.
We are running to town and seeing about exchanging her coat. Of course, the one I got for me DD likes better. I didn't want us to look like twins. Maybe we need to go up to the Super Walmart and find her one slightly different.
We are ready except for me putting makeup on. So need to get busy so we can go.
I hate buying more coats and we have closets full, but XL and she needs a small and me medium. Most of them are Lands End, but at least I bought them on sale.
So need to go pretty soon.

And I remembered to clean out my dishwasher filter. I just don't remember often, it wasn't to bad this time, so that's good.

Well, my dog met a goat at the farmer's market. Found out my dog loves goats. It was really hard getting her to move along after that.

I discovered the Mississippi pot roast recipe a few years ago but for venison. It is very tasty with both beef and venison. A packet of ranch dressing mix, a packet of onion soup mix, and a stick of unsalted butter. 8 hours on low in tje crockpot. I'm down for anything easy like that!
It is fairly chilly here as well - down to 48 this morning. However, our house is so well insulated that the thermostat still says 72 even though no heat has been turned on yet this fall.

Pink Cashmere It's really hard to live with other people. I mean, it really is. I love DH, but if I'm truthful, the perfect living arrangement would be a duplex. His and hers sides. Also, if my house is getting to be a mess, I really feel a low level of anxiety creep in. And you can't control other people, which is why I think it is so hard to live with someone else. Which is why I never got married or moved in to the homes of my two long term relationships. By now, I'd be hell to live with.

raeoflyte Me too! One time we were driving around out in the country and came across a pasture of pygmy goats. I stood there forever. DH said we're not getting one, and that if one comes up missing he will know I took it. I still want one!

My knock off Le Crueset’s stock pot enamel is starting to flake off on the inside. I wouldn't normally replace it, other than I use it all the time as it’s my soup pot. This means a trip to the outlet in Marysville. So think DS and I are going to make a run down tomorrow while TD wrecks the kitchen making his pies. I offered to pick up pizza on the way home.

A few weeks ago, I was watching On Patrol Live (Dan Abrams). The cops were trying to round up some animals that got loose. They (in studio- narrators) kept calling them goats and making GOAT jokes and puns thinking they were clever. No, they were SHEEP! Haha! I've only been around one goat. It belonged to our next door neighbor, but it liked hanging out on our front porch, for some reason. It was mean! And wouldn't let us go inside our house! And it pooped LOT, on our porch. 🤬

heh....I saw this on FB earlier this morning. I will admit to caving last weekend and turning the heat on. but the chills that accompany a 103 degree fever are no joke. I'm telling myself that the heat would have been turned on anyway, with my parents here, if I hadn't gotten sick. but it's off again now, and will be for the foreseeable future. hopefully November, but we shall see. My dad found the DD214! He was looking at an example online and he swore he'd seen it.
It was in my dad's lock box!
He made a copy and I'll scan it to the Medicaid lady on Tuesday.
The tarot lady I saw today was right everything sorted itself out!
I know it was a coincidence but it put me in a really good mood which is what I needed.

Swam this morning, then home for a quick change and breakfast. Started a wash load while I went to the bank, Fresh Market and the fish store.
Load of laundry is done. Cookies for DH are done. Brownies for Monday are done. Dinner is fish tonight, as I race tomorrow.

Grrrrr...... I'm trying to buy tickets in London and when I went to pay for the tickets to Wicked, they wanted to verify the purchase by sending a code to my cell phone. My cell is currently not working because TD is trying to switch us over from Ting to Mint. His went easily, mine is being a royal pain in the ass and he's been working on it for a few days now.

Hey, just wanted to let all of you know, if any of you get your prescriptions at Walgreens, the pharmacy might be closed next week on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or all 3 as the pharmacy people are planning a strike.

I cleaned out a flower bed. It was for sure pre-covid the last time I actually had any time to do fall clean up. I'm hoping the missy and i can make the tombstones sturdy tomorrow and then get them in the bed. I can tell I'm going to ache all over..

That stupid blue ad is back. Whatever the ad is for (insurance, I think) I wouldn't buy, because this ad annoys the crap out of me. It's slow to appear and takes 2 clicks, to close completely.
I haven't heard any drumming yet today. YAY!

Right now, I’m doing this. Earlier I was walking along here. That’s DH in the middle of the sand. View from inside the trailer. That’s the ocean on the left behind the trees.

We haven't turned the heat on yet as our house is well insulated and the lowest night temp so far has been 52 degrees, so the house has not fallen below 68 even with windows open. But tonight the low is 41. Windows are now closed. I am thinking about turning the heat on a low setting, like 60 degrees, without telling DH. He likely would not notice anyway.
