Got the Medicare part D customer ID#. Now I can hopefully get in online and print the premium statement off and print a new card for my records. If I can do that the last thing is to squat at the VA until someone finally finds grandpa in the system. Can I just say I hate the trend of insurance companies making you print off your own cards? It's not so bad for someone like me but my grandma wasn't about to set up an online account. Let alone remember to update every so often. For as much as insurance companies charge I feel like a card could be thrown in for free. I agree. 100%! It annoys me to no end, that I have to print my own. Plus, they're not laminated, or anything, so be careful not to let them get wet. It annoys me every time I am told to troubleshoot a nonworking XYZ. I don't work for your company. That's your job, not mine! If the equipment is not mine, I shouldn't have to maintain it for your company. That's how I feel. I have NEVER been able to log in to my insurance company account. Not even right after I switched to them. I have no idea why. Just that I can't. SO ANNOYING! I tried to pay my dr. Office bill. Catholic hospital chain named themselves Aescension. I find the name annoying. B/c the spelling is unnatural. Anyways to avoid having a password list numbering in the 200+, I refuse to have a username and password for every hospital chain in the area (at least 3). So, to pay my bill I had to enter e-mail, then they send a link. You get link they then send pw to same e-mail. To find pw, go out of link to get pw, they then say it is no longer valid. They will not let me try again. I got in somehow but fat fingered the security code, again, no second chances. Call, sends me into voice mail loop that insists my customer # is not valid. Finally get through to human she tells me customer # is not valid. I inform her I am looking at my bill and that is number on the bill. She puts me back in endless voice mail loop after informing me it is the wrong area. At this point I spent 45 minutes at work trying to pay a bill they were threatening to send to collections. I finally stopped in the office and paid in person. Honestly if a scammer wants to pay my bills-let them. And answer your phones. Computers can’t troubleshoot everything! Getting up to start my day. Have to walk the dogs & feed the rabbits before I leave. Have a great day everyone!

I think I need to work on retraining sooner, like now. A new position opened up. It's going to affect my unit, but not controlled by my unit. Warning Flag 1.
When I mean affect, I mean, like this position is doing parts of jobs that others should be doing. The fact that one of our core product lines is not doing well has caught the eye of the top leader of our area. We've also had this position, before, in my unit. Warning Flag 2.
We are probably around a decade out from when the person who held that position in my unit retired. Absolutely none of their work lasted 10 years. Infact, we are actively still trying to fix mistakes this person made, still all these years later.
When we get restructured. It's not if, it is when I don't know that I will have a place. The one product line that is likely to last will not use my skills. They will use skills for others on my team. They don't need three of me for a position that no one really wants to interact with. I don't trust that anyone will look out for me.
Which means going to education is completely off the table. Even if DH gets another half time job, we're still looking at 20% income cut. Down to 80K for gross HH income for 4-5 people. In this environment, there's no way. Even doing something like paying off the mortgage wouldn't move the needle. 5K is not 20K. And our expenses would go up. We would have to put the missy in afterschool and summer care, which would cost us probably another 5-6K a year. We have left over money from DS' 529. There's a few options in my neck of the woods. Which would bode better for connections.
This is really not what I wanted to be doing with my life now.

Ugh. Sorry to hear that. How many applications have you submitted since January 1, 2023? Do you have any idea? It seems like a LOT to me. ♡

I'm pushing back on this stuff, and my dad's only 72. this is the man that freaked out when he moved the computer mouse and "awoke" the computer from sleep mode when I was in college. he has a flip phone held closed by rubber bands, and has only figured out my fire tv remote b/c he can watch his old Westerns on my 70" tv. the various things that "require" an email address are mostly my email address* and I'm starting to bristle at it. I don't need to know the shit that gets sent my way, just because my email was used for a confirmation address. *this got fun when something was due for DMV renewal while I was in Cancun last spring. lol... nobody could reach me by phone, b/c Mexico. and my sister refused to bother me via FB Messenger for whatever it was. but it had originally been set up for my email, and they couldn't access it b/c Mom couldn't remember the password I had given her for 'her' account. A day in the life of raising boomer parents. I deal with this all the time.

I had a therapy session today, but this is about being a woman, and not about my therapy. At my first appointment with her, my first thought when I saw her was “WOW!”. And I am a straight woman. She is beautiful and has a BODY body. Breasts, completely flat stomach, tiny waist, big hips and a big butt. The kind of body that some women pay a whole lot of money for. And because hers is natural, it is proportionate. I noticed her physical appearance and gave her big props in my mind, we introduced ourselves, and we got down to business. Whether she was good at what she does was what I was interested in, not what she looked like. When I left my appointment that day, I said to myself that I bet a lot of her male clients get distracted by the way she looks. At the end of a later appointment, we were chatting and I told her I liked her outfit and she looked cute. I’ve always been one to compliment other women, even random strangers, by telling them I love their hair, their style or their clothes, or even something like “girllll, you are WEARING that dress!”, whatever I notice that gets my attention. She said she dresses differently when she has in person visits with male clients. She said it doesn’t matter as much with virtual appointments, because her clients can only see her upper body anyway. I also remember her saying “trust me, I know what I look like, I’ve had this body since I was a teenager”. I didn’t say anything, and still haven’t, but I understood, because I actually know someone that went to her several years ago. He’d told me back then that he had been going to individual counseling and ended up bringing his wife to an appointment for them to talk to her together. And after the appointment, his wife told him he had to find another therapist because of the way that one looked. I had forgotten all about that until after my appointment today. At the end of my session today, she asked how I felt about Mister and I coming to see her together. And she immediately said “don’t worry, I’ll wear something baggy”. That kind of upset my nerves, as a woman, because why should she even have to think like that. First of all, I guess she could smush her breasts, and hide her shape, but it would be near impossible to hide her butt, no matter what she wore. Second of all, I know Mister notices attractive women, and I told her I know that and I don’t care about that. He’s not blind. I didn’t say this, but in my mind, if he got so distracted by how she looks that he couldn’t focus or was inappropriate, that would say more about him than it would say anything about her. She went on today, to say that she has had to fire clients before because they were being inappropriate and saying offensive stuff, instead of working with her on their therapy, and she fired them because she doesn’t have to put up with that. Until she said that, I just thought some men might be distracted, but I didn’t think about them actually being inappropriate and saying offensive shit. That’s no different from anybody else that is not self employed, having the right to work without being subject to inappropriate behavior and/or sexual harassment. It made me feel some type of way that she felt like she had to assure me, by saying she would wear baggy clothes, to try to make me comfortable with Mister coming to one of my appointments. But I understand that that came from experience, since I already knew she has had at least one client whose wife had a problem with her just because of how she looks and insisted her husband find somebody else. There is no telling what else she’s had to deal with, that led to her thinking the way she does now. It’s ridiculous for a woman to have to go beyond dressing appropriately, and go to extra lengths to try to camouflage her body shape, so her male clients don’t get out of line, and her female clients feel comfortable bringing their SO’s to get help with couple type issues. But that’s the world we live in. I guess it’s on the other end of the type of problem where years ago, a manager at my job told a female employee that if she put some lipstick on or something, she might get promoted. Why can’t we just work and go about our daily lives without being sexualized and/or judged on our appearance? And now that I think about it, I remember I initially contacted her to ask whether she was in my insurance network, because her stuff said she is, but I couldn’t find her as a provider on my insurance company’s website. So she called me and confirmed that she did accept my insurance. And when I was ready to schedule my first appointment, I told her I preferred in person appointments, and she said she usually makes the first appointment virtual, and decides from there whether or not in person visits are an option, but since we’d already spoken, she was ok with mine being in person. Her explanation at the time was because she works out of her home, and she kept assuring me that it was a safe, gated community, and her office was separate from the rest of her house and all the ways I could be assured that everything about my in person visits would be private. It was reasonable that she didn’t just let anybody come to her home office, before she learned anything about them or got a feel for the kind of person they are, for her own safety since she lives there. But now I wonder if part of that is also due to problems she’s had before with clients. Sometimes, it’s hard being a woman. That is just such a sad and infuriating bunch of crud that your therapist, and a whole lot of other women, have to go through just to exist in the world. I'd say "fucking men" but women are our own worst enemies as well. I am also a random compliment person. There was one morning years ago when I was walking to my office from the El stop and an older woman walking alongside me turned and told me that the mustard yellow cardigan I was wearing looked amazing on me. Made my f*ing day. Ever since then I started giving random compliments in the same way. That lipstick shade is perfect, your hair is gorgeous, that dress is fabulous, etc. Women need to know they they are killing it.

And speaking of paperwork found out my grandparents DID NOT apply for the military discount to property taxes you get with the DD214. My dad checked their last statement. So going through the county is out. Sometimes I swear she did this all on purpose. There is just no way it's all a coincidence. I mean REALLY?! She was so cheap that they moved out to Treynor despite all of us telling her it was a bad idea because the property taxes were cheaper out there than here. You're telling me she didn't see the benefit of getting even more shaved off by using grandpa's military service? REALLY?! ETA: OMG something finally went my way. They could not talk to me about specific details of the account till they get my POA on file but the bank who holds grandpa's pension was able to walk me through how to get onto their web site and create an account and confirm I do have the correct details without actually giving me the account #. I can now finally take care of that. Apparently my grandmom actively did everything she could to avoid any sort of death planning or do anything that would be helpful to her daughters. Zero plans in writing, no funeral policy, her "will" was signed 'your mother' and is invalid. And yes, that is the ultimate your mom joke.

Asking for all the prayers, good thoughts, and juju anyone wants to send our way.
DH's family is very small - his parents, his grandmother, 1 aunt, a second cousin who he is close to, that cousin's 2 grown daughters & the oldest daughter's daughter (4YO). That poor baby has been in the hospital for 2 weeks looking for answers on a medical issue. Late last week, they found that her kidneys have not grown - they are still newborn sized. She will definitely need a transplant, and yesterday the did surgery to install dialysis lines. She will remain in the hospital far a few more weeks and then do at home dialysis until a donor kidney is available.
Baby's name is Serenity, and lives about a half an hour away from us in West Virginia. Please and thank you.

Even doing something like paying off the mortgage wouldn't move the needle. 5K is not 20K. Wouldn't it make more sense for DH to look for a full time position rather than a second PT one? He has. He doesn't get interviews. Or he gets an interview where there is clearly someone else in mind. He got a first interview at my employer. It was a 15 minute interview in which he had to answer 5 questions, including why he was the best candidate for the job. They didn't really even explain what the job was.
And, he wouldn't get paid a whole lot more, tbh.
The really is no other advantage of DH working a full time job over two half time jobs, other than 7% of the difference in salaries going to his pension.
As long as he's a state worker, only one of us can carry all the benefits. I always have since I had the full time job. It's the law. And where he is, most limited term workers put two half time positions together to make a full one. It accounts for something like 25% of all positions in his workplace.

I agree. That just happened with me with CHI. They require this long ass customer number in order to log into your account with them. I have no long ass customer number. It's supposed to be on the backside of the bill. Well I'm looking at it and it's not here. Okay enter this number instead . . website rejects it saying the account doesn't exist. Tried calling the billing office. On hold for 20 minutes and teh system hung up on me. So they are going to get their payments via snail mail. You want your money faster you shouldn't make it so dang difficult to log in, I am also to the point of where if a hacker manages to get in good for them, let them pay my bill for me. It's getting stupid. I'm sitting here for over an hour trying to pay my bill meanwhile the hackers already have all my information from BCBS, Boys Town, Target, Experian and Nebraska Medicine. So what exactly is this 5 step verification process doing to protect me?

Do you know what you are looking at or thinking about? Accounting.
There's two programs in my neck of the woods that have programs for folks with business degrees but not accounting majors. I also happen to have connections to someone who runs one of the programs.
WGU is also another viable option. I think that's a last resort though.
I looked at a masters in higher ed. It would open more pathways.. And the jobs are all low paying. Which is too bad. I don't want to get another degree or go to school to have to take a 30% pay cut right now.
And I'm also still limited to my employer. With accounting, I can stay where I am. I can move into other state run department, like the Dept or Revenue or even the dept of Family services or Dept of natural resources. The public school systems also pay into the state pension and the city does to.
I have to keep paying into the pension system. I've got 30 years at 56. I can leave at 55 with 90-something% of my pension. I don't know what the cash value is. At this point, I think the pension is the better option than taking the cash and running. And the retiree health insurance. That's a big thing too.

Okay so my Jordache jeans from the expo are a fashion miss. The fit in the waist is different. I have had it explained to me based on the shape these are men's jeans. Not the end of the world there boyfriend fit is in right now. But the legs are a lot longer than I realized. I was wearing wedge sneakers when I came in so they didn't look as weird, but now in my work shoes it looks like I ran out of pants and had to borrow DH's. They'll need tailoring if I am going to make them work. I was disappointed yesterday when I was wearing my 70s vest that not a single person made a Brady Bunch or Partridge Family reference. ETA: Never mind I hate these jeans. I should have remembered I need to walk around in them before I purchase jeans not just try them on and look in the mirror. I called DH begging him to bring me a pair of my other jeans because I am going insane.

Prayer for baby Serenity and family already done.

I can't believe the temps we have had here, in the 80's and some evenings 88. Hubs says the heat is over, its raining today but I wonder. The farmers have been working hard but this is likely going to stop them for awhile or they will be drying grain. That is expensive. They have not harvested the fields around us yet. But they are picking pumpkins north of us.
They take old school buses here and cut most of the windows out of them. Then they use them when picking watermelon and pumpkins, they load them to the windows. Sometimes when they take the curves fast you will see smashed melons and pumpkins all over the roads. I believe they do cantaloupe differently as they are more fragile, they load them in the big cardboard boxes. Lots of stuff like that is shipped out of this area. Also sweet corn, they raise lots of it here too. And apple orchards are around here too.
We have truck gardens around here still but a lot of the old guys that did them are dying off and they are labor intensive so lots of young family members no longer want to do them. One of hubs friends told him its his last year. He has had his wife, DIL's and grandkids helping him and I'm pretty sure they don't want to. He was injured a few years back, his tractor ran over him and they didn't think he would live, but he made it so its past time. But we will miss him, he had his own special place on the town square where he sat up every summer. Things are changing here too.
Well off on a tangent this morning. Also I have a big cat leaning on my legs. He is our huge one and getting friendlier, DD could hardly keep him out of the bathtub when she was taking a bath the other morning. Hubs says he gets in the shower with him when he is drying off. Smoke is the one that does that with me. But big boy is getting way friendlier with me too. I just brushed him good, next is his nail trim. He is so big, I think he has a hard time getting certain areas of his back.
I need to get busy, vac my car out and start on paperwork for DD. We are supposed to get a fedex package to sign for the post office sale to return to them Monday for a closing that day, hope so. Sometimes things here are late.
They must have the poor migrant workers picking pumpkins in the rain today, the buses are still going by, its only 67 out so that would be miserable. I guess they have no choice if they are to get them to the stores on time for Halloween.

My parents are sort of planning. They've named each other as beneficiaries and my sister and I as contingents. They have pre paid their funerals. Any time I bring up a will or POA, they won't need it any time soon, so we'll worry about it later. Um, you're 68 and 71. Exactly how long do you think you're going to live? Mom can't even stay upright without a walker. It needs to get figured out. If I have to go through half the crap drama has, I'm going to have them both euthanized.

Sending Prayers, FYI - My cousin's grandson contracted some kind of Bacterial Infection at about 4 years old that so severely damaged his Kidneys - that he ended up getting a kidney transplant. The donor was his Mother. He is now about 12 years old. It was a long slog in and out of the hospital, but he is now a healthy 12 year old. Hopefully your grand niece will come through this as well as he did.

Here accounting degrees are in high demand. I know you need to stay with the state where you live. The State Auditor's office here has had some long time (40 plus years of service) retire. They can't find people with accounting degrees so people with 2 year degrees from junior college are eligible for the job. State Auditor says it's a problem throughout the accounting field. He has talked to CPA firms, big businesses, etc. and their are no rejects to send his way. They are hiring anyone who walks in the door at CPA firms. Of course, if they screw up duing tax season, they will be gone. That's why my great nephew is majoring in accounting when he really wants to major in ag.

Hey, I am 71. I consider myself a senior but I am not elderly. I have had a will since I bought my first house. The current will looks nothing like that will where I had my dad as executor. At that age, he could have handled it. But there came a time when he couldn't handle anything. I am pretty good with Windows computers but terrible with Macs. I am working on getting my iMac ready to sell. Have to get the software, etc. off of it.

You know you found the one when you call them whining that the vintage jeans you bought were a mistake and causing you sensory issues and they drive to your work with a different pair of jeans for you to change into no questions asked. He did say he is saving it for future teasing purposes which is fair.

I could be better at tech, I'm just not interested but I have had to do better lately and need to get back in the grove. I like some of the things new software does but it keeps changing and changing and sometimes not for the better. I just got tired trying to keep up with it. But going to need to again if we are going to keep using it and everything is going more and more to it, like it or not.
