DH & I are going to a concert at the race track tonight, which means that I was up way too early. Have fun! I hope you enjoy it!

I'm tired. I'm doing a grief support group online with a friend this morning and due to my brain apparently being fried, thought it started at 8, not 9. So I'm all ready to go then I looked at the email again. Ugh. I have a cat banging around somewhere, I don't know which one. I have a biter in the foster room and a really pissed off growler/hisser in my bedroom and my 2 running around the rest of the house. I just got the pissed off one last night so didn't get much sleep as I slept with one eye open to make sure she didn't attack me as she did swat my head when I got into bed. In her defense, I had no idea she was on the perch next to the bed so no harm, no foul. I do hope I don't start snoring during the group though. That will be bad.

7:30 am and I've already taken Carrot out to breakfast, done chores at two farms, picked up some groceries and got all the gas containers filled so I can mow today.
This is not a typical Saturday morning for me by any means I'm generally still in bed at this time. I think I need a nap.

It's 7:30, and I'm the first one up. Glorious. I've been watching a Hulu show on a hospital during katrina. Would recommend. Also going to be brave and try a new crochet stitch.

Pink - I think it's because the training you've done has sunk in, even if it's not consistent yet. I've told about my dog that would spoon with dh when I'd leave for work, but she'd jump right out of bed if she heard me turn the key because I forgot something. They can get very good with different rules with different people. Sorry about the comforter. I don’t feel like the training I’ve done has really sunk in though, besides making me the bad guy. He still ignores my commands when it comes to doing what he really wants to do, vs what I’m telling him to do. Like, I let the garage door up a couple days ago, and he shot out of the garage and ran next door to the T’s house. Newbie ran out of the garage too, but she stopped and came back when I told her to. Boy ignored me, and I didn’t know why until I saw Mrs. T’s legs on the other side if her vehicle. I ran over to get Boy and kept apologizing to her, and she said it was okay, she just got startled when she felt something at her butt, which was Boy’s nasty ass sticking is nose up her butt, because he is weird and obsessed with dogs’ and people’s asses. Newbie has a very strong prey drive, but if I call her, she will stop running full speed to get to whatever she’s after, and come back to me. Boy is not the same kind of hunter, but his recall is shit, just because he doesn’t want to come back. Would you like a cute, cuddly, doggie named Boy? I ask that, knowing that Mister would kill me if I gave Boy away lol. I just mean that he knows enough to know he shouldn't be chewing things up. You have to catch them in them in the act for training - and you have enough so that he knows you're not going to like a chewed up *comforter. He just hasn't gotten to the point of stopping himself before the act.

Another early riser here. We were up at 3:30 am. Our 4-month-old Lab/German Shepherd pup decided she needed a potty break pearly early this morning.
We decided to stay up since the carpenter and plumber are coming at 8am to discuss the hopefully final details about the bathroom addition to the office/guest house. What a nightmare this project has turned out to be. Bed linens are in the washer and breakfast for all is done.
We have several errands to run in town this morning including grabbing lunch at Panera. Once we get home though an afternoon nap is going to be a must!

Cut grass really bothers my allergies, so I used to wear a mask when I mowed. Like Busymom, my mower had a grass catcher so I did not get grass on me that I remember. I haven't mowed grass for ages, so maybe things have greatly improved, but I remember getting grass allover me, even when I used a grass catcher. If for no other reason, the catch bag has to be emptied periodically, while you're mowing. Not every blade makes it into the grass catcher and stays, while you detach it and it. And I remember looking down and seeing my previously white sneakers, bright green! I was mortified! Although I did eventually get them clean, it wasn't easy to get the green off and it took several hard tries. They never seemed the same. I was bummed. Will the owner of the property provide the mower and keep it sharpened and repaired? What about edging? The lawn care and snow shoveling are two things I'd pay someone to do, if I could. One house I lived in, required me to take care of the lawn. The landlord furnished an old push mower (no motor), for 6 units to share and she drove past several times per week, to be sure everyone was doing it, to her satisfaction. If not, she left a nasty note in your door. Then she returned the following day, to be sure you'd done it. I hate shoveling snow. But if I could get those things done, I'd go for the house. Especially if I had dogs. Does the house have a fenced yard? Definitely no white or even nice sneakers! Those will stain. You need yard shoes or I just wear my hiking boots, but I don't notice anything then.

I keep trying to convince the kids to foster kittens with me but everyone says they'll get too attached. I miss it, but I suppose not I don't miss the extra cleaning. Eventually though I'll get back to that. Snuggle with a kitten for me though.

Low on paper products, so placed a Target order with a gift card from PayPal rewards.
12 boxes of Kleenex anti viral $19.98 30 mega (whatever that means anymore) rolls of tp $25.99 12 triple roll Viva paper towels $24.99
I buy this stuff regularly at Target anyway, and the tissues and paper towels should easily last us until at least April but damn that is a lot of money upfront.
And I am left with 54 cents on the $75 gift card. 🤯

So apparently there's been a leak under the washer since the repair almost 2 weeks ago that dh didn't mention until yesterday. Rrgghhh. I'm sure it's that the hose needs to be tightened but I can't exactly get to it so I'll have to wait to hear back from the repair guy. He's great, but he's busy and it's been a while now. I wish dh had told me, or you know called to get it fixed on his own but gotta get over that. For better or worse, he is who he is and 25 years in we're in accept him or leave him territory. But I wish either one was easier and/or didn't make me so angry.

Congrats! We were married twice. The first time we eloped. We had been engaged 2 years while in college. Her uncle told us to elope because her parents and we had no money for a big wedding. So we eloped and got married by a Navy Chaplain in the base chapel. I was on active duty. So years later our priest, we are Russian Orthodox, talked us into an Orthodox wedding since it is a sacrament. I argue that our first was in the eyes of God. Oh well. We don't even remember the second date.

Was he at least cleaning up so it didn't cause bigger damage? Can you walk DH through tightening the hose?

Was he at least cleaning up so it didn't cause bigger damage? Can you walk DH through tightening the hose? That is a very generous take on it that I will try to accept. Laundryroom is concrete with a drain somewhat nearby so no to cleaning up, but it's not likely to cause much damage. I think we could hopefully fix it "together" we just don't always do those kinds of projects well. I will try though. He has 5 years of CE to finish up that's due tonight at midnight so today's not likely, and with his work week the repair guy might get here before dh has the head space to help me look at it.

Found Charlotte digging up the yard again and Wilbur was helpfully collecting and eating dirt clods.
Stupid dogs.

This bitch just canceled on me! I didn't even open the text message. I know I didn't want to go, but how shitty is that?! You couldn't find anyone to celebrate your birthday so you ask me, then when someone becomes available you cancel?! Well, at least now I don't have to comb my hair. That sucks. Especially if it's really because someone else became available. But now, you don't have to entertain anyone, but yourself. Are you going to throat punch her? Haha J/K. 😉 I actually ended up going to dinner with T2. Today is her birthday and she was hungry, so we went out last night.

I'm normally an early riser, but it's dark and cloudy here today. I slept in an hour later than normal and as a result I kind of feel like a slug. I'm finally ready to get outside and get some work done, just as soon as I finish this cup of coffee.

I'm watching The Birdcage. it is still fantastic.
I can hear LD snoring in the other room. Punk is sprawled out across my bed, giving me dirty looks here and there. I'm on the laptop right now, I just put in an Amazon order for a nasal spray that is apparently out of stock at every pharmacy anywhere nearby. WTF? I had a neighbor ready to go pick up whatever I needed, which is absolutely appreciated.

I have no idea how the hell we've been making ends meet, TBH, since DS has been back with us. We were supposed to get 4% raises this year. That's being held up because universities have DEI programs. We'll get our raise if the DEI programs, positions, are removed from campus.
I have to review our benefits. Hopefully our benefits won't go up too much.

I'm watching this show about the hospital in NO after the leevees broke after Katrina. It's really interesting and hard to watch. Maybe as religious institutions lose power due to shrinking followers, we'll be able to move the needle on humane treatment of people and sanctity of life at all costs.

I've heard now from 2 of the 3 people I've asked for a reference. My only contact is via Linkedin, so that's not bad. The third ref is retired but at times active on LI. I'm hoping to hear from him this weekend. Then Monday I'll complete the apps. For today I need to focus on prepping for tomorrow, and celebrating our anniversary.

DH's birthday will be next month, and the calendar is moving so quickly that I did some shopping for his big day yesterday. I need one more thing, but it's not on the shelves just yet: Patrick Stewart (Captain Picard) has a new book that's supposed to be released on October 2nd, and DH mentioned he'd like to read it, so that gift will be a win-win.

I got the Angry Bear most of the day yesterday. I got the Angry Bear all day today until now. Why does this site have so many server issues?

My neighbour came over today to give me a gorgeous bouquet of roses, orchids and lilies. She was sent this for her birthday, which is tomorrow. She's allergic to the flowers.

I had it for a couple hours too. I wanted to complain about having only just over half of my grocery order delivered, but the Bear wasn't having it. While I did let things slip until Saturday, this is easily the worst in terms of expected versus delivered since I have started. Out of 17 items ordered, I only got 9. Allegedly the rest were out of stock. Not sure I believe that for all my missing items. Some, but all?!

Waiting out the angry bear today - did laundry, yardwork, stopped for groceries, went to the bank, vacuumed and cleaned the bathrooms. Just took the marinated chicken out of the fridge to put in the oven shortly.

Went to Totally Radfest this morning and ended up with a decent amount of vintage clothes.
Including a Dooney & Burke bag that is one of the exact ones I used to covet whenever I'd see the popular girls.
Better late than never.😁
