I think it's mostly genetics, but staying active is so important because once you lose that mobility it is almost impossible to get back. Yeah. Covid did not help my inlaws at all, in terms of mobility.

Post op appointment this morning. A few days early since I was worried about losing my insurance. I don't want to get my hopes up but too late...I really hope she tells me I can drive. And pool/tub but as good as I feel I doubt those dates would change. One thing I want to do when I can drive is pick up an old push style mower. I had the lawn hired out this year, in part because our actual mower needs service because they always need service. So I decided we can keep up on it with the least complicated tool possible. Don't forget to have the blades sharpened regularly.

I almost lost my ability to get around with my feet problems, but reclaimed it with weight loss. I would have gone crazy.
Hubs is out today with the tractor getting metal junk out of places for some neighbor guy to sell. Also some tanks and stuff, he is always up to something. He has to have a place with something to do up there or he won't make it either. There is a gorgeous house in walking distance to sons with 6 garages but $705k, is beyond our budget even if we kept all our money and that's seeing what this house will sell. But we don't need a 3000 sq ft house to take are of anyway. Not sure anything here will sell very well right now with interest rates higher. I found 2 in our price range further south of son about a half hour drive that is close to the next town for $450k, more like it and they are very nice than we would have more than enough money left for whatever.
But still in the back of our minds is build the garage for son, and add a building where our double wide is and just live there. That would likely be the smartest and would have lots of extra income to replace rental income from interest at least until they lower the rates. Hubs could than keep busy doing stuff for DIL, remodeling and fixing things for her. He said she would keep him busy and she sure would. We both could stay busy that way.
I just put a fridge up for sale and a stand alone icemaker. Hubs is getting rid of junk. Made appointments for next week for an oil change for my car and hair cuts and dye jobs for DD and I, so moving along. We have 2 docs appointments for her next week and hubs one for a sonogram of his heart.
I just cooked a pot of green beans with tiny potatoes in them and just ate a bunch. I love fresh green beans, the others here, just a bit. Me, I could make a meal out of them daily for quite some time. These weren't as fresh, so I broke them last night and let them set in water a couple of hours that made them more crisp again so they turned out ok.

My dad does pretty much everything he used to as well. It just takes him a couple more days to recover from crawling under a car than when he was in his 20s. He shouldn't be crawling around alone on top of freezers even if he was 20 because that causes OSHA manuals to burst into flames. I did pull the "You're not 20 anymore you'll break a damn hip" card last time. Some car work he no longer does himself it's not worth it and sends me to someone he trusts instead. My dad informs me that I'm not 20 anymore on the regular. Mine tells me that too.

I'm working on a marathon of old Law & Order episodes I've seen a million times. Briscoe and Green vintage.
since it looks like I'm not leaving my bed/the couch this weekend, I'll take binge suggestions. I have YouTube TV and Amazon Prime. and then whatever else is free on a Fire Stick. please and thank you!

So today I have not been able to get my grandfather's DD214. The nice lady at the VA could not find him in the computer. She thinks he may be archived so I went online to request it. We'll see if htey let me have it because I don't count as next of kin for whatever reason. Only my dad and grandma do. We're going to keep looking at the house. Called the bank who holds her pension and requested a 2023 tax statement. Yeah stupid me forgot that it is going to end up being sent to the address on file which is her damn PO box in Treynor. Dad thinks he still has a key. It was supposed to be forwarded according to the post office but according to the pension holder's automated system that won't work. They have to have written permission by the pension holder to change addresses. So I am going to fill that out tonight and include a copy of my POA we'll see if that works. Tried to set her up online so I could get it and I was SO CLOSE. But the stupid fucking account number on her statement isn't recognized by their online system. It wants a 9 digit account. The one I have is 15. I am so tired of this BS. The world doesn't seem to get that there are still old people who haven't come into the 21st century yet and are still receiving their pension statements on stone tablets. If said old people were competent I wouldn't have to be calling you and on hold for 45 minutes only to be told I have to have my senile grandmother talk to you.

My friend texted me yesterday saying it's her birthday weekend and she has no plans. This tells me that everyone else was busy so she's asking me. I don't want her to not do anything for her birthday, so I agreed to go out with her. I don't really want to the more I think about it. Ugh!

Man! This lady is dicking me around on this house. I swear to God if someone else rented the townhouse while I was fooling around with her.

Blaring classic Tori Amos in the background Trent Reznor is singing backup vocals on this innocuous sounding song and I enjoy the wtf-ness (too bad the burial was premature she said and smiled) (different song)

I still have up 4 small Christmas trees. I enjoy them and they make me happy, so they stay year round.

On the calls where he had to give me permission to talk to them, I would write down the answers to the questions and he would read the answer to them. To enroll in his Part D premiums every year, he had to repeat a rather long statement back to the rep on the phone. I told the rep you will have to do this in 2 or 3 words at a time or it won't happen. I was writing it down for dad to read and it's the only way it got done. I had a POA on file for this company. The people you deal with doing these things with the elderly, seem to have no idea of how life works for them. I know with Covid vaccines, until they became plentiful, appointments could only be made online and no walk-ins. If they ever get the rollout of the new one working correctly, it will probably be the same thing.

He got the J&J when they were going door to door vaccinating elderly people. Which likely means grandma had the J&J too because she got it while iving with him. But we never found her card and apparently Public Health never bothered to put them in the system because holy Mary of God was it a nightmare with the nursing home. I was like just give her a damn booster it's not going to hurt anything! We know it was roughly X amount of months since she had whatever she had originally. We consent to the damn shot just give her the F-ing thing! NOOOO they wanted online documentation stating she had it.

Check with your county VA representative, they had copies of FIL's DD -214. But the guys in his family recorded them at the recorders office so they could get them if needed.

We just got our booster shots at CVS and they no longer need the cards. I think the nursing home is behind.

I've had Christmas lights around my fireplace (and plugged in 24/7) for years! I need to replace them. Half the bulbs are burnt out and neighbors are complaining. They like seeing them from the road when they go by.
