But won't I get grass all over me. Plus it get really hot here in the summer. I'd rather just pay the money since it's only a problem for half the year. Just don't wear your nice sneakers to mow in and you'll be fine. It's nice to be able to hire it out but it's an easy household chore too. Cut grass really bothers my allergies, so I used to wear a mask when I mowed. Like Busymom, my mower had a grass catcher so I did not get grass on me that I remember.

Good morning, intentional invisipeeps, patting your affairs into place. I hope your Friday gives you some reward for your efforts, which may include savoring soup or enjoying a non-stinky dog. Today I've got to finalize preparing for the fair tomorrow or in case of rain, Sunday. I'm hoping for the best. The wind is supposed to be high so we are trying to figure out ways to secure our photos while on display. And DH will, he tells me, call the nurse coordinator for nephrology so we can get the information and plan for the needed surgery preparatory to peritoneal dialysis. I'm thinking of applying for a couple of jobs at a healthcare system nearby that I have the experience to suit. Both are regular full-time positions and we could really use the income bolster. DH doesn't want me to be working 40 hours a week, but I don't have contacts up here that would allow me to do consulting. So, . . . It's unlikely that I'll get either job but I feel like I should try. In case you need the reminder and even if you don't, the sun also rises:

We came pretty close to divorcing last year. First it was him. Then it was me. I don't think either one of us have ever been that angry at the world even at our worst. It did not help my mother's death was traumatic. My brain allowed me to function but it wasn't allowing me to process out of self preservation. But the emotions would leak out. I'm not a physical person but there were days murder was an option. I hadn't felt like that since I had PPD with Gwen. I asked him once how the hell are you suppose to be a supportive spouse when you are both broken? We were pretty much roommates last year. We've slowly gotten better over time once we both passed the year mark. Yeah we had kids but we've also invested 20 years in each other. I lost my mom and his mom I was damned if the universe was going to take my marriage too. So we existed till we had the brain space to come to together along with therapy and anti depressants for me. He's already been on Prozac for years. I can't even imagine. My mom gets on my last nerve, but I'd spiral if she died. My dad's death will completely break me. We've always been two peas in a pod. I just teared up thinking about it and he's just fine. Same. DH has explicit instructions on what to do, and what not to do, when my dad dies. When mom goes, I already know that I will have to be the one to deal with things as sister is uncapable and will 100% be a drama queen. I am used to that and can deal with it. Dad is a whole different story.

If working from home is an option maybe he'd be more comfortable with that. You wouldn't lose commute time then. You don't lose anything by applying though.

Post op appointment this morning. A few days early since I was worried about losing my insurance. I don't want to get my hopes up but too late...I really hope she tells me I can drive. And pool/tub but as good as I feel I doubt those dates would change.
One thing I want to do when I can drive is pick up an old push style mower. I had the lawn hired out this year, in part because our actual mower needs service because they always need service. So I decided we can keep up on it with the least complicated tool possible.

Like a human powered rotary mower? That's what I had when I lived in town. It worked great as long as you didn't let the grass get too long, then it was a nightmare. I think if I was to get a push mower for a small lawn these days I'd get an electric. They're way better now than they used to be an no maintenance or having to buy gas. Kind of spendy though.

Yep, just actual push style. My electric mower has to go in too - but I agree that they are great and need almost zero maintenance. I think ds just strong armed the battery on accident. I'm hoping they can replace just that panel on the mower.

He never listens to anything I say anyway.

You can buy a repair kit for the hose if tape doesn't work. You can cut off below the hole and replace than end with the replacement kit. I believe instructions are in it. The work we have used them before. In the interim carry a few buckets of water to water your tomatoes with, they will appreciate it. I can drag the hose off the deck to water them. It’s long enough to reach. It’s just a PITA.

Has anyone seen tmr lately?
I think I'm getting the same annoying ads she was talking about a while back where the screen fills in with a blue frame. Hope she's still around.

I'm very happy i got to spend yesterday afternoon outside, bc it's cool and rainy already today. it will suck tomorrow, too. 👎
I'll be in bed most of the day anyway, I slept badly last night. I will say this - I understand why early hospitalized patients were sometimes positioned face down. oof. my furry nurses are here with me, so I'll be in good paws. 💗🐾

And to clarify because that probably sounds rude- aging is so different for everyone but in my mind 60's is still pretty young without other health stuff. I have to remind myself that my parents aren't young and they're on the downward slide to 80.

Running around a restaurant all day and slinging 50 lb bags of flour does that. I've not so subtly suggested DH go get some flour bags to sling around too. But he is getting older. I got on his ass for yet again climbing on top of the freezer to repair it while no one else was out there. He fell and hit himself on the mixer on the way down. Fortunately it was just a bruise. I told him he needs to stop because I don't want mom's ghost showing up in my bedroom to yell at me for letting him do that. She was always getting on me about that and there was the implied threat I'd be buried next to dad if something happened. Because *I* can totally prevent a 64 year old man who is taller and stronger than me from climbing on stuff.

My neighbour, who always says I make the best cream of mushroom soup on the planet, said I've outdone myself today. I must admit, it really is good. I added sherry and nutmeg today. I'm on my way up to try some.

Aging is sooooo weird. There's a couple that we knew that I would have sworn was mid-70s when they were both under 60! Then some people I can't believe are over 70! I guess it all depends on life and stress and genetics, etc.
My dad is 72, swims three days a week, rides his stationary bike a few miles each day, goes to every home Steelers game, and is redoing all the trim in my parents' house. He also mows three yards (though mostly on a riding mower!). Then there people he knows that can barely leave their house. It is all a crapshoot.

Because *I* can totally prevent a 64 year old man who is taller and stronger than me from climbing on stuff. My stepdad is 74 and still doing pretty much everything he used to. He has a shop and builds street rods and does mechanic stuff. My mom is 76 and does all the mowing and yard work on their 13 acres...she also goes to the gym every day and coordinates a weekly bike ride with the senior center where they go on a 15-20 mile ride somewhere in the area. I'm pretty convinced from what I've seen personally that those that continue on and stay active are the ones that live the longest and stay the healthiest.
I'm kind of worried about my dad (77) since they moved to the townhome. Now without a yard he spends a lot of time just reading and taking naps. My stepmom is talking about getting a dog, so maybe then he'll start going for walks. He does travel a lot though. They take at least 2 international trips a year. Still he needs a reason to get out more. Last time I talked to him he said he was giving up golf too.

My dad does pretty much everything he used to as well. It just takes him a couple more days to recover from crawling under a car than when he was in his 20s. He shouldn't be crawling around alone on top of freezers even if he was 20 because that causes OSHA manuals to burst into flames. I did pull the "You're not 20 anymore you'll break a damn hip" card last time. Some car work he no longer does himself it's not worth it and sends me to someone he trusts instead.

Ds mowed my dad's lawn after he got his pace maker but only because he was told he couldn't for his 6-8 weeks or what not....sounds familiar somehow.
My mom does have a lot of health issues and more cropping up faster as she gets older. I always said women in my family live to 100 as if it was a given but I'm realizing nothing is that simple.
I think it's mostly genetics, but staying active is so important because once you lose that mobility it is almost impossible to get back.

He never fully regained all his lung capacity and gets winded much easier than he did before.

He was always running around doing stuff. It kept him young I think. His now 71 yo daughter (my mom) has to use a walker. He could run circles around her. It just all depends on how active you are while you can be. I plan to stay as active as I am for as long as I can.

Argh. The VA could not find my grandfather's DD214. They sent me to the website and I requested it online instead. I have his death certificate and his DD256 (which doesn't count) so I was able to give them as much information as humanly possible. I am going to guess that since he was in the Korean War and discharged in 1961 that his files are probably archived by now. I suppose dad and I can tear up the house too and see if we can find it. He swears he saw it. We've found every other single piece of freaking paperwork involved with his miliary service but the one we actually fucking need.
