Forgive me if I missed something: why are you talking to a lawyer? Wasn't it just an accident?

Good, lurkyloo. And I'm glad to hear all went well, raeoflyte. Listen to the others and take your (good) pain meds before pain roars. It is so much better than chasing it.

Rae - having watched DH thru numerous surgeries, pls heed Mich's advice. Once the pain gets going, it could be a bitch. And, do not overdo it! I repeat, do not overdo it! Let people wait on you hand and foot for a solid week. That isn't my strong suit, but I promise I am trying. Keep in mind, the minute you do ANYTHING, you will be expected to do everything! Hugs

Forgive me if I missed something: why are you talking to a lawyer? Wasn't it just an accident? The accident is not the issue. The fact that they failed to offer medical attention, did not notify the parents, and sent him home limping and sobbing on a fucking broken ankle is the issue. As a bonus they tried to blame him (special needs, in pain possibly shock) for not adequately advocating for himself. Would you mind terribly deleting the quoted text? Thank you.

On another note, I would like to offer a positive counterpoint to the typical US healthcare sucks. We hit our relatively low deductible in Feb-March due to high med costs and everything has been free ever since. I was actually searching local drugstores and balancing spending $100+ on crutches etc vs difficulty and risk in schlepping immobile kid to and fro for free equipment. Sadly I do not have a home x-ray much less the expertise to read the images.

Why do I spend so much of my precious life arguing with Flat Earthers? Probably the same reason I will stop what I'm doing to argue with bigots.

Take them to the cleaners Lurky. That they didn't call for assistance or notify you is bad enough, the part where they blamed him is something I would have thrown hands over. I hope the lawyer escalates it all the way to the school board and at least one person's head rolls.

As a 65 yr old adult, I'd have a hard time advocating for myself, in his shoes. He was hurt and trying not to cause undo stress, is my guess. One of the times being good/helpful, isn't. I'd be VERY upset, if I were you.

lurkylooJust wrong, in so many ways. I'm really sorry, you're having to navigate and deal with this. And I'm sorry for what he's going through. If I were him, I'd probably make my limp a bit more, whenever I walked past that teacher, or the principal's office. But that's just me. I'd want them to KNOW, THEY screwed up!

I had all my requirements met by senior year. All I needed was Indiana History for graduation. I asked if I could take it in summer school, nope. But this was 1964, you could forget about doing anything different. So I spent a whole year taking classes I didn't need. But than I got to college and struggled the first year because our high school did not offer all the classes like the city schools. I sure hope its better now. I know it is for the high school in the county seat but don't know about the one I went to.

sitting here shaking my head at something I just read on another thread. also, biting my tongue because there is nothing even remotely charitable that I can say in response to this waste of air, and I'm not sure I can even be polite about it anymore. but if any of you wordsmiths want to have a crack at it, just please heed the CoC as you do. I may just have skirted the CoC a tiny bit - but you made me go back to that thread. If I end up in YMAM jail for a couple of days because of it, so be it. BTW: I don't think the poster at issue is all that smart as this person never seemed to realize, or at least react to, the fact that I accused them of having very organized crime like solutions when I called their solution very "Whitey" (Bulger) like. Though I will admit that I left the Bulger part out of my comment

Infectious disease doctor just prescribed a new antifungal for Jerseyguy. He has fungus lung infection. Pharmacist called, insurance doesn’t cover and it’s $6000/month . He’ll probably need to take for 2 months. Called ID doc and left message is there another med possible?

I was just very Dutch in my post. IOW extremely direct using only language directly from That Poster (for sake of brevity now referred tp as "TP" and inevitable logic based on TPs posts. Not IMO rude but not couched in flowery, softening language either.

I completely understand. Trying to blame a child instead of the adults responsible for the child is crazy making and makes everything even worse. I don’t have any training in dealing with children, but my common sense says that if I’m the adult in charge of a child with special needs, I should probably pay even closer attention to them if something is wrong, or even seems to be wrong.
I am trying to say what I want to say, and be supportive, while respecting the spirit of the stated requests.
And if I still said too much, I will be happy to delete my post.

Well, this is the saddest thing I've ever seen.
We came home awhile ago and saw a coon in the yard. We pulled up by it and it was panting. I told hubs I think its very sick and possibly dying. I said why don't you shoot it? He didn't say anything but I have been watching out the window. It's moved a bit, I have been watching it. I just looked out and said oh my god, hubs, a vulture is now sitting beside it. I don't want it to start tearing the poor thing apart while alive, that is cruel. So I'm thinking, can I get close enough to shoot it with a shotgun? I mean who knows it may have rabies or something. We wouldn't let the cats out and won't, till it dies and is removed.
I've never seen anything like that before, do they go after them before they are dead?

I've never seen anything like that before, do they go after them before they are dead? As awful as it is I would leave it alone personally. It sounds like possible rabies and just don't take the chance. Call your county animal control and say you have a possibly rabid racoon dying on your property come get it.
