I just got back from the grocery store and putting together Ree Drummond’s pasta bake. It’s kind of like lasagna, only for pasta and not near the mess to compose. This recipe also got rid of about 2/3 the pasta sauce I made earlier. It’s all set to go into the oven. My hips need a break, then the next step is to get some delicates into the wash and so see if those heirloom tomatoes are ripe enough to pick to have with dinner tonight.

So to clarify those of us on YM will send guns, money and a lawyer no questions asked? Asking for a friend. We will also provide freezer space or undeveloped land to help hide a body.

Concert tickets as a whole are way off killer, IMO. I was looking at presale tickets to see Tyler Childers in Baltimore next year. $299 each, before fees. No thanks.

Trying to get the farming stuff sorted out here. Had a discussion with the crop insurance lady about SSNs being sensitive; her assistant promptly posted both mine and DH’s on a docusign thingy that was not even password protected I'm happy the credit union password protects their docusign documents. This would make me angry. When I was getting death certificates a couple of weeks ago, they are supposed to mark out the SSN. The death certificates from Iowa that are online all show the SSN. I was finally looking at them and 3 do not have the SSN marked out. I know at all the courthouses I went to, I was told they had to go mark out SSN so maybe I was given the wrong copy.

Thus far, and no farther. Forms mailed, membership renewed, and I picked up more stamps while I was at it. Then work set in, and neighbor requested a pup playdate. Finally got through enough work to be able to take a migraine med; neighbor pup has been sent home after snapping at PP over ownership of a bone (not sure whether it was the vinyl or filled one); corrected a couple of mistakes by a colleague and I don’t have it in me to call and do battle with TIAA. That can wait till tomorrow. I do feel like I’m making progress at a rate slightly faster than new sh!t is piling up. Which is no doubt why DS brought home a math quiz with a big fat D on it

Good times. I hope LD is still improving. he is, thank you. Punk seems to be clear of the UTI and just pouting b/c she's contained in the house. LD is on restrictions til around Halloween when we go for follow-up to make sure the bone is re-growing appropriately over the surgical site. please keep your fingers crossed that it is, and the restrictions will be lifted at that time! as I say on FB, #sendwine I missed, or forgot, that Punk was having issues also. Sorry about that. Is your car still clean? I used to think it was always long haired dogs that shed so much. Then, I realized that short haired dogs can shed a TON! I was shocked. "#sendwine" good one!🍷

I have guns and ammo. Not many, we took several to son. I stocked up a bit on shotgun shells. They will scatter and hit the most in case I aim poorly. I will keep them. They are locked up, wouldn't give any to son till he bought a gunsafe, he now has one.
Checked a bit further on the post office purchaser, not giving them some documents. They don't need to see stuff on my tax return. I will send P&L's from Quickbooks, that is enough.
We are going ahead and put the one house up for sale too. Guess we will take a bite this year for medicare if we have to. Hubs is afraid the market may go down more if the rates raise. Our realtor said its still holding up pretty good.
Paid all our fall taxes today so that is done.
Once we sell the PO I am dropping the LLC, there will only be one house left in it and it cost to much on our taxes to have just one like that.
Been busy today, need to pull the rest of the documents together to get them ready for the sale and want to review the PO sales contract one more time, to be sure I'm not missing something.
Our behavior person for DD told me if we need any help with DD while this stuff is going on with her dad just call her. She can stay with her or whatever. We have a great caseworker and she also is super. They really care about their clients you can tell. If all of them were like that little kids and adults being monitored would not end up in bad situations.
They have started harvesting here so will have to watch out for tractors and equipment now. They cleared out a HUGE field of soybeans. A lot aren't quite ready yet.

"#sendwine" good one!🍷 that came out of nowhere, b/c she's got the pain tolerance of a Green Beret. for real, the other UTI she's had in her life came about b/c there was snow on the ground and I happened to see that the snow wasn't just yellow when she was done. my car is mostly still clean, lol....a good blast of the leaf blower will clear out what little has settled so far (and when things dry out, I'll be doing that). for real, she and I are in a competition on curly girl shedding. but when LD is in season, his fur shows up *everywhere* and I wasn't kidding. send wine!

Over 20 years ago, someone I knew was saying a shotgun was best for home defense. That was back when I was afraid of guns. But I’ve never been stupid, and this person was married and there was a child, about 4yo, in the home. I asked, how is that safe if there is ever an intruder, but there’s a young child that might be anywhere in the house. I had young children at the time, and I knew that young children don’t necessarily stay in their bed/bedroom all night, or even if they normally did, if something woke them and scared them, they were likely to go looking for their parents. That person didn’t seem to share my concerns about the young child in the house, and it pissed me off so much that I obviously still remember the conversation. I am not against shotguns for home defense, I’ve never had or used one, but everybody knows what that sound is when you rack it or whatever it’s called, to prepare to shoot it, and if an intruder doesn’t have enough sense to run when they hear, they deserve whatever they get. I am, however ALL for safety, and always have been, even when I didn’t know much about them, and children in the home make being responsible and sensible even more important. When I stopped being afraid of guns, it was because I realized I wasn’t really afraid of guns themselves, I was actually afraid of stupid, irresponsible, and careless people, and criminals, with guns. Anyway, I just shared a memory that popped in my head at the mention of shotguns, I’m not trying to start a debate here about guns. I am really glad for you and your daughter that she has a great caseworker that genuinely cares about her clients. Please do what she said, and reach out to her if you need help with DD while you support your husband on his journey to better healthy. You are made of good, strong stuff, and you can handle a lot, but please be willing to accept help if/when you need it. You and your family are still in my prayers.

Same weltz and I don't want to know My kid and my cousin insist that I need to learn how to use a gun. Um, you've known me forever. I lack the temperament of someone that should own a firearm. I also drink too much to be allowed to have one. No thank you. Let Mister’ family and family friends tell it, he has a horrible temper, but he’s never shot anyone as a civilian. As far as I can tell, he prefers to fight, like you said you do. I have a long, slow fuse (mostly), and when I allow myself to get angry, if I REALLY get angry, I’m a force to be reckoned with. And I drink. But still, I’ve never shot anyone either. The only time I’ve ever had a weapon out and prepared to use it, it was during a direct threat to my safety and the people I was with. It wasn’t due to an argument or me being upset or angry. I’ve told that story here before. But the people I would’ve used it on, if I’d had to, never even saw the weapon. As much as I can be reckless if I am angry enough, I’m not stupid. I might hit somebody and fight if I get angry enough or have other reason to, but that’s pretty much it. I don’t think you are stupid either. I’m not encouraging you to go out and buy one, that is your personal decision. I’m just saying it’s okay if you are interested in learning to use one. You can “rent” one to use at the shooting ranges where I live, to get a feel for different ones, or just to learn how to use one properly, how to be safe with it, and practice hitting what you aim for, IF you want to.

Toying with going to South Dakota next year.
It is potentially cheaper than Colorado and DH can relive his childhood vacation for a change.
Sent off for visitors guides and now we wait.
Planning is one of the most exciting parts for me. I love research.

Its not hard at all. Gwen wants to try hunting. She would need to take a safety course and she would go with either DH or BIL they are the two I trust. But first we would prefer she try a few. She has no idea the kick back of a hunting rifle. DH would teach her. We don't have any here at home. Even as experienced as DH he's not comfortable with it. Making sure it's safe from the kids sorta renders it worthless in a life/death situation because he'd have to unsecure it and get it loaded. He refuses to keep a loaded weapon in the house even locked up. He's seen accidents. A metal baseball bat is easier. He has several at FILs though and hunted for years. If I'm going to let Gwen fire a weapon it's with him

So I just got a jury summons for a three month period. I don't mind, except that it is a waste of time (in my past experience, I have been summoned many times). When they ask your occupation, and you answer "advocate", nobody seems to want you on the jury. Before I was an advocate, I did sit on a murder trial. It was interesting but I really don't ever want to do that again.

Considering they've become an invasive species here destroying Prarie land and crowding out other fauna due to not having any natural predators someone has to step up and engage in population control. I'm cool with it and she thinks she is. As long as it didn't test postive for CWD it wouldn't go to waste. Dhs family eats venison. I don't care for it myself.

Wasting disease is not pretty in the deer population. It also leads to more auto accidents and damage when the population is unchecked.

I wouldn't hunt, but there's been more than one occasion when I wished I had a gun on me when one was flopping around on the road with broken legs. 😭 Of course, we DO have guns (well Carrot does) but since we don't throw them in the car when going places we never actually have them when needed anyhow.

Wasting disease is not pretty in the deer population. It also leads to more auto accidents and damage when the population is unchecked. Our township of our county is the worst in the state for CWD. The DNR basically is trying to eradicate the entire population around us. They are baiting, hunting at night, herding with ATVs and shooting out of helicopters. Still I almost hit one practically every damn day.

Neighbor is trying to get me to be weekly daycare for her dog. I don’t really want the responsibility and am ducking/being noncommittal while feeling guilty.

I can support the need to cull deer while being totally unwilling to pull the trigger, figuratively or literally.
There’s a great video on what happened when they released wolves back into Yellowstone (I think, could’ve been Yosemite). It boils down to, the wolves ate a bunch of the deer and it unf*cked the whole ecosystem.

They are so bad here that the insurance rates are high because of them. One year they had something called blue tongue and I think a lot died off. But believe me when I say they are back.
Got my flu shot today and my arm hurts. Next is covid Next is RSV Next is pneumonia if I need it again.
The few guns we have left and ammo are in the gun cabinet. The keys are in a small unlocked safe in our closet with the keypad lock. Would be darn hard to get to them.
Ok bath time for momo
