This house is a money pit, and I've only been here a week! Of course, I am exaggerating, but I am having no problem finding things I want to spend $$$ on. I had the locks rekeyed and an electronic keypad lock put in from the garage so I don't have to fumble with a key. I had 2 ceiling fans installed. I had a Ring Doorbell installed. And I just bought a new toilet seat to replace the handicapped apparatus. That doesn't count the cleaners, extra keys, shelf liner, and all that other stuff. I think I might better surrender my YM card. I feel like all houses are money pits. There is always something to fix.

I made a new to us dinner that is basic af, but I am super impressed with myself over. I'm really not feeling well, but somehow I'm still supposed to feed the beasts. I didn't have any of my staples, except stuff to grill and I think they might revolt if I do burgers again. Anyway, I'm staring in the pantry hoping something magically appears when I notice a package of Spanish rice, chicken broth, and I had a package of chicken tenders in the fridge. I sautéed the tenders for a couple minutes per side, took them off the heat, boiled the chicken broth, added the rice, seasoning, added the chicken back, covered, and voila. Dinner! That they all ate! I might add more next time when I feel better, but again- Dinner! Dh added some bell peppers to the table so there were vegetables.

The kid is yelling up a storm in the basement. I kind of want to kill him. I shall turn up Finding Dory and after I'm done dishing up myself some ice cream I'm going to hide the container so he doesn't realize I bought any.

I don’t know what I did and who I pissed off, but my life is really going haywire lately.
The power came back on, as I said earlier. I started cooking dinner. The power went back out while I was browning ground beef.
The my son called. I didn’t answer. He called me immediately, again. He doesn’t do that, so I answered. He acknowledged that I’d answered the phone, but he wasn’t really talking to me. My spidey senses were alerted, so I just sat on the phone. Long story short, he was at a friend from high school’s apartment because he’d run into her step dad, who said she’d been wanting to get in touch with him since he p’s back in town. Some guy and 2 other females came over while DS was there, and he caught whispers that made him feel like he’d been set up for harm. He’d called me when he was gathering his stuff to make a hasty exit. His “friend” kept trying to distract him and convince him to stay, while the guy was whispering in his phone.
My son is not fearful or easily intimidated at all. I heard something in his voice today that I have NEVER heard. Idk if it was fear or what, but it was very clear that he felt like he was in a really bad situation.
And when he finally got to his car and started telling me what was going on, he realized that he had his “friend’s” phone from when she was trying to distract him by showing him stupid shit on FB while he was throwing his shit together to leave. And he got really upset and kind of panicky after realizing that, because while he wasn’t trying to keep her phone, he wasn’t trying to go back over there to return it either.
So I ended up running out of the house and meeting him at a police station for her crazy ass Mom to come get the phone. Tennis shoes with no socks on, leggings and a tight shirt, and prepared to deal with anything crazy that might have happened, if you know what I mean. Go to jail or die….. whatever.
There’s some more detail, but that’s enough to get the gist of it. He is still worried, because he doesn’t understand why someone he use to consider one of his best friends, would do something like that to him, which I yelled at him about, because it’s not uncommon where I live, for females to set their unsuspecting male “friends” up to get robbed and/or killed, and they know where he lives.
And now I feel even more like a crazy person because I know what my state of mind was like and what I was prepared for, and willing to do, when I left my house to go to him. I don’t necessarily think that even on a good day, I would’ve reacted any differently though.
I couldn’t make all this crazy shit up if I tried. But I beg God, the universe, or Whoever and Whatever we want to call it, deal with me if there is stuff I need to learn, but please, please, please, leave my children and grandchildren out of it, and out of harm’s way. PLEASE!

Sitting in the dark for the fifth(?) time this summer due to a severe thunderstorm knocking out the power to a good chunk of MLG&W customers in Memphis and suburbs. Our utility company sucks.

Yes, it does! It wasn’t even raining or anything, when my power went out earlier today. But when I left home late this afternoon, it WAS raining, and I had to navigate several intersections where the traffic lights weren’t working. This has gotten really ridiculous, with the way so much of the area loses power so often, and for so long. It has not always been like this, so I don’t really understand what the problem is. And just because so much crazy shit has been happening, my windshield wipers stopped working while I was driving through the heavy rain. They just got stuck in the middle of the windshield, and that’s where they still are, because I drove home with them like that lol.

That is scary @pinkcshmere. I really dont know why people have to be so hateful. That is what he kept saying, he’s never done anything to her, why would she set him up like that. He was upset about the whole thing, but he was really upset about that too, because he couldn’t understand why someone he once considered a close friend, would try to do something like that to him. When I was yelling at him about it, I reminded him that I didn’t like any of his so called friends before he moved away. He use to think I was just being a bitch, but NONE of his friends back then gave me good vibes. That is why even though I hated that he was moving so far away from me, I was glad that he had the chance to start over somewhere else, and I hoped he would surround himself with different kind of people. So when I was yelling today, I was saying that he does not need to try to reconnect with not ONE person that he knew before he moved away. They weren’t shit back then, and after all these years, they’ve just had more time to become even more horrible. I was yelling all of that when he first got to his car and told me what was going on. After I realized how serious the situation was, and told him to give me 5 minutes and I’d call him back, the 5 minutes I needed to get my shit together to run out of the house, I didn’t yell at him about it anymore. But he remembered what I’d been yelling about and said more than once that I was right. He just seemed really shocked, and actually hurt, so there was no point in me harping on it and I just listened without fussing anymore. I don’t know why people are so hateful and evil either. I feel like my loved ones need to be sensible and realistic, just to try to protect themselves, but if I could give them a world where they could just be free without having to concern themselves with how people might try to harm them, I’d give everything I am, have and am capable of, to make that happen for them.

So of course, now I am throwing up when I should be sleep. During all this time with my GI issues, I’ve been nauseous a lot, but I never actually threw up. I did this morning, but that was different.
Tonight, idk why.
Shit just keeps getting worser and worser, and I got really, really tired a lil while ago. TIRED, TIRED.

If dairy doesn't mess with your system, try eating some ice cream. For me, that reduces the amount of acid that stress sends to my stomach. The situation you dealt with tonight would send anyone into stress mode. Try & relax tonight. Your son is now safe, so get some well-deserved rest. Hang in there!

I normally hit "Like" just to indicate I've read a post, not necessarily that I like the information it offers, but Pink Cashmere I can't even do that with yours. It does seem like you're in a bad place in your life. I pray that it ends quickly--immediately--with no harm to you or yours. Please be careful and cautious as you move about your world. We need you!

At DD's. Her apartment here is very large, a one bedroom with a loft and a very generous LR/dining area. Three cats here are not a problem.
She had packed about 12 boxes and more before I got here. Enough to fill the car I rented, a Camry. Not clear yet if she'll be coming back with me or follow a couple of days later. She has scheduled a look at an apartment in Mass for Tuesday. With luck she'll get a few more lined up. Moving her is kind of daunting right now. I still have some PTSD from our move last year. The last few days were crazy after many months of expelling all the Stuff. So much Stuff still to deal with.
DD has some physical disability that makes this job more challenging than it would be, too. Plus her apartment is up a flight of stairs, and has its own stairs up to the loft. I regret I didn't bring my sneakers.
Lightning just flashed and there goes thunder.
I hope you all are sleeping well and find that tomorrow goes like sliding on ice: smooth and easy.

We got the wallpaper off the bathroom today. I am going to wash the walls down in there tomorrow again, then spackle a few nail holes and see what else needs done.
I just noticed the other day, the new woodwork around the windows in the bathrooms has never been stained nor some of the baseboard. I also have a place to spackle and it needs a piece of coping or whatever its called between panels replaced. Just one piece. I finally convinced DIL to leave the boxes around the light above the sink alone. Hubs was really concerned. Like me he said you get that down then have nothing to fasten it too and than what do you do? So she listened, thank goodness. I bought 2 100 watt bulbs, to put in the fixture and washed the light cover. I priced buying new drop in panels but I think when I get the framing up there painted white it will reflect a lot better. It already looks brighter in there. I also washed them. Hope I don't have to spend $140 for those. I told son today everytime I leave the house its $100 it seems. Son said the same, prices are totally out of control.
I get a kick out of grandson, every night he has an excuse why he can't go to sleep. He is getting quite inventive, LOL! Tonight it was he can't close his eyes, he wants to but he just can't and they are open. I told him go to bed and leave them open if he wants, no problem and I figure that within 10 or 15 minutes when I come in, he will be sound asleep. Bet he is too, He is so funny.
Have to dry my hair yet and I'm finishing up a TV show first.
Son and family were here for dinner, I made gumbo, but it was awfully flat tonight. But he didn't care, he said throw in some tabasco and garlic salt and it will be fine. It was ok, I guess, he took the rest of it home. Or maybe he was just hungry, LOL!
Talked to hubs and he is running our one renter to Michigan. He needs to pickup a semi up there for a job and noone to take him. Hubs doesn't care and I told him it will good for him to get away for a day or so anyway. Told him leave the kitties, plenty of food and water.
I aksed how he is dealing with them and he said he lets Tigger sit on his lap long as he can stand it then makes him get down, but he should feel like he is getting some attention. Not sure what Smoke is doing.
I'm about ready for bed, I think I've eaten too many different things this afternoon, I know better. Hope it doesn't bother me tonight.
Pink, sorry to hear all your troubles, you sure are getting dumped on of late. It has to get better, let's hope its soon.

Have to be on a meeting at 10, which of course is check out time. So getting ready to pack up, head home for the meeting, and then head to the new rental at 3. We'll stay there until Friday, but will still have river access if we want so we'll likely stay put for a while and have dinner at a local Mexican place before heading home.
Kayaking yesterday was lovely, but had to walk the kayaks a decent amount and I am feeling it today. Need to wash the office down next week, get a rug, and start using some of my equipment. Even if I just take 5 minutes every hour to get moving.

Good morning, perseverant invisipeeps, pushing on through the mires. Welcome to Wednesday. I hope this day presents you with no trials and no challenges that you can't dispatch easily, and that you find some tranquility. I'm sitting in DD's apartment watching the lightning flicker through the skylight. This really is a nice place; it has cathedral ceilings in the great room, that it shares with the loft. The brass spiral stairs leading up to the loft add a wonderful architectural element. Here is a picture. The room is not red or pink; it's just the light for the plants that she has. The cats are playing. This is Queen Ann's Lace beside the water, lit by the red red sun the other evening.

Wow Pink I feel bad for your son. I wouldn't feel trusting either if someone said they wanted to see me and suddenly three other people show up. Sad that robberies and worse have happened in situations like this. Glad he is OK, glad you answered the phone, and I hope the rest of the week is far more peaceful for you.

I was looking here to see what YMAM had to say about the Frontier Airlines $29 tix. I have flown Frontier a few times, and it is a no-frills airline, but I've never had any significant problems, even traveling with two kids and oftentimes car seats. My parents fly Frontier a decent amount to visit my brother - only thing recently is they are cracking down on personal item size, so make sure yours is the right size or prepare to pay a fee for a carry-on.

Fun morning. I've been trapping/relocating sparrows in my barn for the past couple months. It's kind of an exercise in futility as they are hatching out brood after brood right now, but I'm trying... Anyhow, this morning there were three in there so I threw the trap in the van before I headed off to work. I must have snagged the latch when I did because about a mile down the road I had three loose sparrows flying around in my van while I was trying to drive. I debated opening windows to just let them go...cuz sparrows flying around my head...but we weren't far enough away that they wouldn't figure out how to get back to my barn so I just endured them for another 5 or 6 miles before I pulled over and opened everything up. Two flew right out. One was hanging out in the cargo area, so I had to get out and open the hatch for her. I'd like to say this is the first time this has happened, but it's not. Before I figured out to plug the trap entrances before transport they would occasionally just figure out how to escape while I was driving, but that was usually just one. Never had to deal with 3 flapping around my head.

Sorry but such a visual had me laughing. I knew when I started reading that all would turn out OK. I love your stories since you experience things I will never experience.

Dad found the birthday poem mom wrote for Gwen last year. He had a friend of his clean the desktop and his friend recovered almost all my mom's poems and photos. She never got to give it to Gwen, this was the week she went into the hospital. A few weeks later she died. My brain refused to retain the exact date. I know I can easily find it between here, my phone and I could just lift up her urn. I choose not to. She didn't get to celebrate Gwen's birthday and will never get to again. She'll never write Gwen another birthday poem. She'll never write Abby another one. I will never get another birthday ornament from her. I go back and forth emotionally. My brain has done a fantastic job of building a wall around what happened in this time frame last year. Which is probably not healthy but at the same time I still have to function like a normal person so maybe it's not an entirely bad thing my brain is stll in trauma mode in that regard.

My sister in law has flown Frontier several times. With all the no frills airlines, I think it's fine as long as you understand the rules. If you need luggage, factor that into the price.
I wanted to reach through the phone and strangle the cable company when I canceled grandma's internet last week. They kept trying to sell crap. Just accept the service is being canceled. I wanted to say so badly that a dead woman had no need for a cell phone. But that would have complicated things because we left all utilities in her name and just kept paying the bills.
Last weekend we went to DH's parents hometown area for a family event. His mom wanted to go to the cemetery. It never even registered what a bad idea it was. I made it three steps out of the car and got back in.

I decided to take tomorrow and Friday off. It's supposed to be hotter than hell next week and I really want to clean my garage. I used to do that once or twice a summer to prep for birthday parties, but I haven't thrown one since 2020, so the garage has gotten BAD.
Crossing my fingers that nothing blows up at work today.

I was looking here to see what YMAM had to say about the Frontier Airlines $29 tix. From what I've seen about Frontier, I would never fly with them. If Spirit is the Walmart of airlines, Frontier is the garage sale version. ETA: Where are you going for $29? I'm intrigued.
