I just watched the most recent episode of Ninety Day Fiancé. Some couples are a match made in Heaven and some are made in Hell. Both are fun to watch. I wish I believed some of these folks are actors being paid to play stupid on TV because it's scary to think they are that dumb IRL. Gino and Jasmine. A match made in the bowels of hell. I can't stand him. What does she SEE in him? He's not wealthy, he's not attractive, he wears those stupid hats even to sleep, in case somebody gets a glimpse of his bald head. He won't even have sex with her. She's stunning. I don't get it.

The pesto is delicious! I even toasted the pine nuts. Maybe I'll have it on a baked potato. I made quite a mess so I had to wash the kitchen floor. The sweat was dripping into my eyes even with the A/C going.

Even though I purposefully bought thermal curtains for our bedroom a couple years ago, I am still kind of shocked that I literally cannot see my hand right in front of my face in there right now, with the blinds and curtains closed. That would be perfect for someone whose schedule means they need to be able to sleep right now, but for someone like me, who needs sunshine, it’s horrible. Our bedroom was already dark before I bought the curtains. I think the whole house was deliberately built to limit the effect of sunlight during summer. But for it to be pitch black dark with the curtains closed, when its broad daylight outside, is more than a little disconcerting. I’ve been saying that I sleep later than I intend to on days I don’t have to work, and I’ve been saying that it’s because our bedroom is so dark that I don’t get the kind of cues from sunlight that I always have. I also am reminded now, of why I stopped closing the curtains soon after I bought them. I had to fumble around, trying to find the door handle to close the door, because I couldn’t even see the door at all, let alone the handle. Lord, please let the power come back on soon, so I don’t lose what little is left of my mind.

Ogunquit was lovely today. My feet are killing me because we walked the Marginal Way. Both ways, in flipflops. I head to Jackson tomorrow and unfortunately my friends are heading home because the one whose sister let us use the unit just found out her father has been transferred to hospice care. They will be heading back to MA tomorrow. Off to the pool, if I can move.

Question for the "village peeps" who live in mosquito invaded areas: what is the best treatment available out there for dealing with bites? Does "after bite" actually work?
I'll be heading to Singapore/Vietnam in a few weeks and I expect to get bitten but I have a very hard time dealing with itching after suffering from deep skin itch due to a bile duct blockage a number of years ago...

I wimped on grilling the Cornish hen tonight because it's 101 outside. The flavor is better than oven roasted but 101 is just too miserable for me to spend an hour outside so it's in the oven.

I saw this post when I came here to say that the power just came back on. I’d gone out in the yard to empty, clean and refill my birdbath since I was already sweaty and whatnot. I was also entertaining Boy and myself with the water hose, since he thinks he can catch the water coming out of it. I don’t understand how that works in his mind, but if waving the water hose around and letting him try to catch the water gives him something to do and keeps him from running off, whatever. Then Mister called me to tell me the power was back on. Thank God!

My head is exploding. Today I had to explain the legal difference between "will" and "shall". And then explain why dismissing the public accounting firm that has kept our community association's books for several decades in favor of letting an elected board member do it just might be a conflict of interest and a violation of fiduciary duties.

After bite is pretty good and definitely convenient. I tend to think that caladryl works a little better, but bigger bottle, less convenient. And big fan of full on deet to reduce # of bites.

Ammonia. It even comes in a stick. The most effective anti-itch remedy that can be used to treat a mosquito bite is the use of Ammonia. The acidity or the pH of the skin is changed and ammonia is known to oppose chemical reactions that cause the itching. Dry cotton can be moistened by use of Ammonia and applied to the affected area. www.lybrate.com/topic/how-to-treat-mosquito-bites-in-monsoon/92b5fdf38122122dd060ac6c17318eec

Yes, she's stunning, but also a real gold digger and crazy insecure. Only a loser like Gino would put up with her. You both think Jasmine is stunning I think she was pretty at first, but now she looks repulsive with her puffed up lips and her messy and ridiculous $3k of hair extensions. Gino likes her because of what the relationship says about him, the way older men go after younger women to prove to their peers that they've still got it going on. She's arm candy to him. Jasmine is a straight-up gold digger who can't wait to get to the US and spend all his retirement savings. Isn't that about $500k? That is wealthy in her mind. I think she's insecure about the lack of sex because she sees it as leverage to get him to throw money at her, and he's not interested in sex with her because of exactly that reason. She would like to have or withhold sex as reward or punishment. She wants him to want it, but she could withhold it to get what she wants. He says it's because they argue too much. I guess he hasn't heard of makeup sex. And now on 90-Day The Other Way, there's a similar couple with Branden and Mary. Seems pretty much the same but they are both SO young. Mary is insanely jealous and that reminds me of Jasmine's early days with Gino, where he had to stay on the phone with her when he went to pick up a takeout order at a restaurant so she could be sure he wasn't inclined to cheat.

giramomma, your day is coming. I'm sorry finding a new job has turned out to be so difficult for you. Anyone here can see you should be the top candidate for the jobs you are seeking. If you are anywhere as efficient at work as you are at home, you'd be a shoo-in in my book.

This house is a money pit, and I've only been here a week! Of course, I am exaggerating, but I am having no problem finding things I want to spend $$$ on. I had the locks rekeyed and an electronic keypad lock put in from the garage so I don't have to fumble with a key. I had 2 ceiling fans installed. I had a Ring Doorbell installed. And I just bought a new toilet seat to replace the handicapped apparatus. That doesn't count the cleaners, extra keys, shelf liner, and all that other stuff. I think I might better surrender my YM card.

Enjoy enjoy enjoy. You sound so happy

Moving is expensive (says the woman with more than two dozen moves under her belt) but the additional cost is temporary. If you keep spending money in a while like you have a printer in the garage you will either need to turn your card in at that time, or you will need to share that printer with the rest of us to keep us quiet

Yes, Branden and Mary are very similar - that's some weird stuff with Mary not wanting Branden to see his mom or sister.

I don't get that kid of jeaousy and insecurity. It's like Riley losing his shit because Violet was texting a male friend. I just want to yell out "Run!" It's like her previous life should be wiped out when she met him. It was funny when he gave her pearls. He thought it was such a great and expensive gesture. She wasm't impressed because pearls are very common in Vietnam. They farm pearls there, and they're cheap.
I don't understand people who go to another country, but don't know fuck-all about it. The internet is at your fingertips. Read! Like the guy who went to Middle East but had no idea that women expect to stay home and be supported, and any gestures of affection are forbidden, like holding hands.

It’s not storming, or even raining, and our power just went out. Sighhhhh We had a storm last Friday. Some people are still without power. I went to Sam's yesterday and I didn't get any of the meat I ordered. They were without power for 1.5 days and had yo throw dumpsters full of stuff away. Luckily I didn't lose power.
