I polished my MIL's engraved sterling silver makeup set. It's remarkable-a lipstick case with built-in mirror, a compact for loose face powder complete with sifter and puff, and a little perfume vial with a miniature funnel to fill it. She got it when they lived in Japan after WWII. You can still smell the perfume in the vial. I made out our menus for the week - it's so darned hot but we have to eat. Tomorrow is a grocery run and more work on the bylaws project. I guess I'll clean the kitchen Tuesday. Thursday is a seniors trip to the National Museum of Funeral History (yes, that's a real museum and really cool too). I'm getting a new "Any Day Above Ground is a Good One" t-shirt and probably some other stuff too, like the sign "The Only Difference Between a Rut and a Grave is the Depth" The make-up set sounds lovely. Are you able to post a picture?

I'm usually in a zen-like state, but it took a near-death experience to get there.

We only have 2 bedrooms here. But hubs and I have the 2 separate temperpedics so that still works. If he comes when he is older, I will have DD sleep with me and he can use her room.
Most of them out here are only 2 bedrooms. He still sleeps with his mom, at 8 I would think that is getting the time to stop. The kids did when they were little but I never wanted to start that battle so they were good about sleeping in their own beds. I think he gets afraid as he shut the closet door the other night. I told them not to let him watch some of those really scary movies. I didn't let the kids and we never had that problem.
I did get some things not on my list at the store, but $108 is not to bad I don't think. I need to use canned goods also. But I buy extra items because of grandson. We are going through a gallon and a half of milk a week. His dad says theirs just spoils. So suck it up and put 2 tablespoons of strawberry flavoring in it, he will drink a huge glass that way and he needs the calcium. He also likes just grilled cheese for breakfast or bananas his mom said bananas aren't good, well they are fruit, he is not fat and he can eat them here. I bought raisin bread today, bet he likes that and raisins for snacks. Also mandarin oranges, he loves those.
He eats lots of good things here, peeled apples too. I know I add different things here, his little checks are pink and healthy from the sun and maybe the stuff in his diet too. He will take a bite of anything to see if he likes it.
I don't keep candy or a lot of junk food, I do have soda but he drinks water also.
About ready for a little nap.

My sibling just left. They spent the weekend with us so Kiddo had a blast. Did yard work yesterday, but only small projects with lots of breaks due to the excessively gross heat. Spent today doing a few of my regular chores, coordinating arts and crafts for sibling and Kiddo, and potting up seedlings. Also had to log on to my work computer 4 times this weekend to deal with this week old problem.
About to start dinner and then hang out with DH in front of the TV. Kiddo usually hangs out in her room alone after my sibling leaves since it makes her sad. We really are lucky to have my sibling living close enough to spend time with Kiddo.
I was just thinking about PB cookies this morning. I've never made them for Kiddo so I was thinking that would be a good one to test in the rotation.
We like apple butter on lightly toasted cinnamon raisin bread. I don't buy it often but it so good! When I was looking at jam recipes last week I saw some for apple butter. It didn't look too terribly difficult so I've been thinking about trying to make it one day.

Welp, things blew up even though I was just minding my business and tryna read a book outside in my happy place. Mister came outside and I got involved in a conversation I did not want to have and tried to avoid. I kept saying I did not want to talk, and kept trying to go back to my book even after I started feeling so crazy that I couldn’t even make sense of the words on the screen anymore because they were just a blur.
He usually doesn’t even bother me like that or try to force conversations, so idk what that was about, but it most definitely did not go well since I ended up yelling and screaming and crying. I guess it’s just another thing that happened today that I’m supposed to learn something from, but I’m kinda stumped on that one. I wasn’t ready. I need to get things right with myself and in my own mind before I can really deal with anybody else, including Mister.
I feel like that probably happened for a reason too, even though I can’t imagine a good reason for it, since my nerves got so upset that I started yelling and crying. Idk how that could possibly be good for ME, but in my current state of mind, I’m just going to try to trust that it was necessary and happened for a reason that I just don’t understand yet. I don’t really believe in “coincidences”. I believe many things that seem like coincidence, actually happen for a reason, even if we don’t understand it and why, at the time.
So now I’m mad that I even got that upset and let it show, so please God, let me just chill out on the deck for a while, then take my ass inside and to bed without anybody bothering me. Please?!

this Wimbledon Men's final has been something else today. 😯 full-on 5 set battle. I've been tethered to my laptop to watch the whole thing. ALL of the clean laundry is folded/rolled and stacked on my dining room (folding 😉) table, to be put away after the match. my friend L is stuck in NY as her flight tonight was cancelled this am. I hate that, but it gives me more time to get done the stuff I should have been doing instead of watching this whole match. 😜 DH cleared his schedule to watch it today. And we all had to stay out of the way of the TV. Kiddo was mad he wasn't showing nearly enough interest in her artwork that she was painting because he was completely engrossed by the match. He had to use the pause button quite a bit. He didn't want to miss a single thing. He had been waiting for it all week!

You needed release Pink. Mister has been relying too much on you to be the pillar and it's LONG overdue that you express your emotions.
It's not your mom or dad or aunt but it all affects you too including grief.
DH pulled his head out of his ass when I finally had a blowout after his mom died. I'd put so much on the back burner that all it took was one poke and I said my piece.
Verbal vomiting on him like Linda Blair finally opened up my own path to healing . Not remotely the healthiest way of doing it but meh none of last year for us was normal.
Same for you. Now it's out and Mister needs to decide what to do with it.
Now you can stop holding it all inside and start processing.

98% humidity outside now. Really feeling it as I need to use a far laundry room to dry my laundry. Not very motivated this weekend, need to snap out of it.

I cleaned off a dresser that's going into DS's room. I found $15 in thrift shop coupons. Which is handy, because the big yarn sale is coming up soon.

So I had a PET radioactive scan Friday. I was given a cd, last time didn’t get a cd. Well I was able to download a program that allowed me to see the images. There is a large area of ‘light’ in transverse colon. So probably the lighted area is tumor that took up the radioactivity. Surgeon told me after first scan tumor took up both ascending and transverse colon. So thinking it’s much smaller cause of the immunotherapy but still there. I go to oncologist Wednesday and I’ll ask if another round of treatments could help? But I’m thinking I’ll need surgery. Of course I’m just guessing Hmmm worse than sneaking look at Christmas presents beforehand. Didn’t tell Jerseyguy cause it’s just supposition on my part . So I’m writing here .
Opened a bottle of wine, probably another Wednesday

Tomorrow I'm going to the pool in the afternoon and something called a "hillbilly BBQ"in the evening. I don't know what that is, but I guess I'll find out.

I buy the no sugar added apple butter from the Amish store but I bet it wouldn’t be hard to make.

I've heard people make apple butter in crock pots. That way it can simmer unattended. My family has always made it the old fashioned way in a kettle outside over a fire but it's not super complicated.

I got burned cooking dinner. Grits popped up out of the pot and got my pinky finger. I apparently don't move fast enough now that I'm middle aged. Little tiny blister but it hurts.
I love DH but it took him 25 minutes to find the stuff and get my finger bandaged. I was done cooking dinner by then. Geeze Louise. I have some Neosporin burn ointment with a hydrogel dressing held with safe-tac tape. I have everything needed to treat a small minor burn readily available in the first aid cabinet in the hall bath. Why it took him 25 minutes to figure it out is beyond me. I'll change the dressing myself before bed. Hopefully it'll be just a minor annoyance by tomorrow morning.

There is only one chain of grocery store around here that I've found it at so far. I thought that was weird. Since we always had it around when I was growing up I though it was pretty common and easy to find. Guess not around here.

Yes, I have let loose on DH more than once in our many years of marriage. While none of those times have been any of my more stellar moments, I know that I personally have an issue with pressure release for lack of a better description.
When I tell DH about x,y, and z over and over for weeks or months on end, and there are no behavior or attitude changes, then my pressure builds up. Then that pressure pops to release. And while it does get DH's attention and I feel better letting it out, it's not our preferred method. It tends to just be messy doing it that way.
But, I mean, we are human so it does happen. As much as we try to find emotionally and mentally healthy ways to deal with things, the fact is none of us is perfect and sometimes life is just messy. It happens.
Sometimes an all out pressure relief happens. When it does, what I have found is that what you do next and how you move forward is what matters more.

No recipe I just throw whatever sounds good in applesauce and a butt ton of sugar. Then I let it go all day. Once it gets to.sauce if you keep going it'll eventually have an apple butter consistency. Found that out when I forgot about it.

I have a spot to work now, where I can shut the door. I don't have to share with DH's computer and tools. I don't have explain for the 100th time that I'm working to little people. DS also now has his tv in his room. So. He can go there and we can have our living room back. He starts back working next week at his old job. That will help. Dh made me lunch for tomorrow. I am taking some time off, and I need to pack a lunch. That was nice of him.

DN3 is here putting up the grab bar. He arrived later than expected and I'm usually well into my bedtime routine by this time.
I am thankful that the grab bar will be installed by the time he leaves.\
I'm also happy that the last of the antibiotics are gone.

Decided to make the hamburger helper Gwen made for dinner tonight.
Added too much pasta. With the amount of liquid it's taking we'll eat probably sometime in August.

I make Hamburger Helper from scratch when DH wants it. I can't get on board with the boxed stuff anymore.
We make applesauce usually earlier in September. Throw that in the freezer and the applebutter usually got made in October or early November. I doubt it's happening this year. My dad took the kettle and stirrer to his house for safe keeping though.
