all this talk of hand-washing things.....maybe y'all can help me out. I used my little 8" stainless pan the other night to cook a frozen black bean burger. I used cooking spray and melted a slice of cheese on it. the bottom of my pan is now splotchy brown, most likely from the spray. I've tried boiling soapy water, some baking soda and water, and non-abrasive scrub sponges. it's still brown. any suggestions? the first thing that comes to mind is that I didn't use enough baking soda on that try.

Reading about Lisa Marie. Her story is pretty damn ironic. I googled, because I didn't remember her being like Melissa McCarthy or Chrissy Metz.
I mean, I also know how childhoods follow us for our whole lives...it's different seeing that in someone else though. You'll notice that the article on abc doesn't mention weight loss surgery. Of course she's eating small portions. She's got no place to put the food.
Granted, she could have had the surgery after the article came out. But, folks are saying "years ago."
I'm not saying we should all go out and eat our weight in cheese curds and fries every day. It also seems like there's a happy medium between that and going to extreme measures, like surgery, if you have just a few extra pounds.
Not sure when she had the surgery, did find this from January 30, 2023. More details about Lisa Marie Presley's final months are coming to light. The daughter of Elvis and Priscilla Presley was reportedly on an extreme weight loss regimen and taking opioids in the months prior to her death, family sources told TMZ. ET has reached out to the Presley family for comment.
Sources told the outlet that Lisa Marie, who died on Jan. 12 at age 54, had plastic surgery and began taking weight loss medication two months before stepping out for the Golden Globes, which became her final public appearance. As a result of the regimen, the outlet reported that Lisa Marie lost 40 to 50 pounds in six weeks.
The outlet additionally reported, citing family sources, that Lisa Marie was taking opioids again, an addiction she'd long struggled with.
At the Golden Globes, which Lisa Marie attended in support of the Austin Butler-led biopic Elvis, she seemed to struggle on the red carpet, as she had difficulty standing during interviews and needed assistance walking.
That is A LOT of weight to lose in 6 weeks.

I have PET scan today at 1:00. I’m calm but hopeful it will show most (all??) of the cancer gone based on the great immunotherapy results. Then next week to oncologist and probably find out about surgery First scan I was terrified that I might have metastasis but thankfully none. But I’m hungry!! And so much worse no coffee!!

I mean, for the stuff it can clean in sinks and other surfaces, it just seemed unsafe. apparently, I thought wrong? thank you!

I second the recommendation of Barkeeper's Friend. I use it on my stainless pans if they get really gunky. The glaze from cooking sprays is so hard to get off.

I got caught by the same Bath & Body Works promo of free shipping with $25 purchase that got lurkyloo yesterday. I was down to my last bottle of the hand soap DH prefers for the kitchen. They sell refill cartons of it now and those were on sale. I also used my birthday coupon and got a marked down shower gel I'll throw in my travel bag.

I'm a little late to the dishwasher talk. I didn't have one until we bought our house so I'm not bothered by hand washing anything. If a dish isn't that dirty or we're running low on bowls then I'm going to hand wash it, no big deal. We have Calphalon nonstick cookware so that and our knives are also hand washed. I have turned into my husband's grandmom, ugh. He puts stuff in the dishwasher and I'm right behind him rearranging it, lol On my last ladies trip my friends put EVERYTHING in the dishwasher. Before we ran it I went through taking out everything that shouldn't go in a dishwasher. I am extra.

I got a cast iron Dutch oven that has enamel on the outside. I thought surely it can go in the dishwasher. I know cast iron doesn't, but I figured the enamel outside would protect it. The paperwork it came with said absolutely not. So I guess I'm hand washing it. Boo!

Mister’s Aunt is back in the hospital. I’m out of patience with her. I’m out of patience with his Dad. I’m on the verge of having run out of patience with Mister. His Aunt told brother she’s just going to sell the house and move to a retirement home. That’s hilarious. She apparently can’t even afford to live in the modest house she lives in now, that’s been paid for forever, courtesy of her Mother. So how tf can she afford to just move into a retirement community?! And she can’t just sell the house anyway. A few weeks ago Mister and I were talking about the house, and I looked it up online on the tax assessor’s website, and stressed Mister out by telling him that the house is actually owned by Aunt AND his Mom. Which I guess means that Mister’s Dad is a joint owner now, if they ever settle that mess out. Auntie can’t just jump up and sell what she doesn’t own 100%. And the condition the house is in, it’s worth about a negative $50. So even if she could just sell it, it won’t go far to help her pay to live somewhere else. I’m obviously still rather cranky. I’m not sad or feeling hopeless, my nerves are just really bad. I’ve never been the most patient person, and I’ve never had a lot of tolerance for bullshit. And right now, I’m at an all time low with both. Mister is under no obligation to do anything for his aunt from a legal standpoint. He was never named her POA on anything. The best thing he can do for himself is continue to refuse to accept liabilty for her. Don't bring her home from the hospital, don't answer the phone, nada. With as many times as she has been in the hospital to date eventually the state will likely step in and they will put her somewhere. Especially if the EMTS start testifying about the condition of her house. She likely isn't going to get a vote on where she goes. One of my mom's sisters had dementia and was living in a low income senior apartment. She was afraid to leave because she couldn't find her way home and would only let mom and a brother in to her apartment. Her son couldn't deal with the dementia so he had quit visiting. She fell and broke her hip. The hospital would only release her to a nursing home where she never understood why she was there. She wanted to go home and by home, she meant the home she lived in with her husband. A nursing home that accepted Medicaid was found in 2 days. Her son never visited her there.

Thanks MarionTh230 and seriousthistime for explaining that to me. NomoreDramaQ1015, I hear you about his Aunt. He learned how the hospitals are when his Mom was in one. Remember they tried to send her home in an ambulance and tried to bully Mister into saying that was fine. He held his ground and told them if they did send her home, he was just going to call 911 for her to come right back. She was in even worse shape that time, than the first time they discharged her to Mister’s Dad’s care instead of sending her to a facility. I’m not too worried about him taking responsibility for his Aunt.

Dammit! Macy got a hold of a flying insect of some sort. She didn't yelp, so I don’t think it stung her. It's been about a half hour and her face isn't swollen. I figured if she is allergic and her face swells up, it won't take long. I may just get out of an emergency vet visit.

Dark load of laundry in. Added categories to my web site successfully to make it easier to navigate. Queued up an SEO webinar to watch. Walked Franklin the Dog very early this morning. It started with sprinkling and was a steady rain when we headed back from the beach. Now he needs brushing, as he is dry now. Nothing like a very furry dog on a wet July day.
I went rhrough an emotional roller coaster yesterday. DH's nephrologist's office called to schedule him to see a surgeon who will implant the catheter for dialysis. I calmly took the information but my heart was racing. He had told me dialysis is a distance away yet. When he awoke I was feeling salty but just told him he had the appointment.
It's a mistake, he said. Then he needs to call the office, I replied. He's just supposed to have an appointment to meet the surgeon. Not get the catheter. Oh, it's just a pre-op. Yes, that way when the time does come he'll be ready.
Oh. This made me realize how totally unready I am for him to go down that path. Even peritoneal dialysis at night. It's the medicalization of life as we know it. And I do not want that to be true.

We have reservations for dinner tonight, with 2 other couples. Mister’s friend/mentor from his job, and their other close friend, who is moving away for a job opportunity. I am even sad he’s moving, because is a great guy and he has been an awesome friend to Mister. He and I have had some real conversations about life and things, and I’d like him even if he wasn’t Mister’s friend. I just love him even more for being such a great friend to Mister, and I call him my little brother. They all met at the same time 9 years ago, and just clicked with each other and became great friends, when none of them have even a handful of people they consider friends. Anyway, I’m not really looking forward to it. I know the men, and I kinda know the mentor’s wife, but I don’t like her. She works in the same building I work in. I’m okay with the other wife. We haven’t been around each other much, so I don’t really know her that well. And I’m not even really liking Mister that much at the moment lol. I don’t even like the restaurant we’re going to. We went there with Mister’s family for his birthday a couple years ago, and the food wasn’t good to me. But the mentor chose the restaurant, and I dare not complain. I’ll just have to try to find something on the menu that should be hard for them to mess up. Not steak though. When we went there for Mister’s birthday, I paid $50 and $60 each for a steak for me and YD and over $30 for a damn pork chop for Mister, and all of it was less than mediocre. Between appetizers, entrees, drinks, and the tip, my bill for me, Mister and YD was almost $300 and I was NOT impressed (I didn’t pay for his parents and his brother because I didn’t invite them, they invited themselves when they found out where we were going lol). So I’m not even sure I’ll get a good meal out of this ordeal lol. So yeah, this should be fun. Imma go and put my game face on, because I do care about Mister’s friend, and the dinner is for him. And I know Mister is genuinely sad about him moving away. Lord please don’t let that lady talk to me though, because I don’t do well pretending, when I don’t like someone and even if I don’t let it show (and I won’t, not tonight), it’s going to piss me off to have to try to pretend, for the sake of not ruining the evening for the guys since I know this means a lot to them. Mister knows I don’t like her and she knows I don’t like her, so please just be cordial and then ignore me. I don’t think her husband knows I don’t like her, and I’d prefer he not know, because my reasons are not something I’d be willing to discuss with him. Imma be on my best behavior tonight though. I can always cuss her ass out some other day if she really gets on my nerves tonight.

These poor people need visitors, and need them badly.
