I can’t seem to get my spirit together today. I decided to paint my toenails on the deck this morning. With my old eyes, it’s easier to see clearly in sunlight. As soon as I was done, Boy decided to step on my foot. I’d used all my patience up trying to take my time and do it right the first time, so the second time with the nails I had to redo, aren’t as neat or as nice as they were at first. I’ve spent most of the day on the deck, and I’m still kind of out of sorts. I just turned some music on outside to see if that helps soothe my soul a little. Mister should be on his way home from work by now. If he decides to join me outside since it’s not blazing hot today like it has been lately, I’m not really in the mood for conversation, not even with him. That’s not as bad as it may sound, he doesn’t usually talk a lot anyway. But if he’s in a mood to talk because he needs to get some stuff off his chest, I will still listen, since it’s not often that that happens. But just random chit chat, nah, I’m good. The music might be helping, Pandora has played a few songs in a row now that I really like.

Well it makes sense because he's been helping since the other guy retired and I am here in a completely different unrelated position. My resume says I can do the job but it's not like I have actually proved it. He's already an associate. I am just a technician. Man imposter syndrome is a bitch. …And if you were the associate and he were the technician, statistics say he’d still think he had it in the bag and you would still be fighting imposter syndrome, because gender imbalances suck. You’re a damn good technician and have shown you’re ready for the next step.

They had a ceremony for his 25 years and surprised him with it. He has hated his company for years. He doesn't speak so poorly of them now. I had never heard of getting an extra 6 weeks of vacation for working somewhere 25 years. Six weeks would be nice! Here you get a week and a $2500 bonus.
Where my ex works they get a week but it includes a paid vacation to Disneyworld for their 25th. I think they can take a cash out option instead, but he took his family on the trip. I wouldn't go to Disneyworld on a bet. Florida? Not a chance.

OWWW! My neck! I can barely turn my head. It's from the behemoth knocking me down yesaterday. It's my own fault. I am sorry. Can you do ice/heat anything for it? I put frozen peas on it. The morphine works best.

Watering and making a list of the plants that need to be watered. I've offered to pay my 15yo niece $15/day to water the stuff that the sprinklers don't get. She seems nonchalant about it though.

Probably because it requires a daily commitment from her, at 15yrs old. And she might want to do something with her friends. I wonder if she stopped and actually thought about the amount per week she'd be getting? But friends are a pretty big draw, at that age.

Ooh, I'll take an additional six weeks, please! They had a ceremony for his 25 years and surprised him with it. He has hated his company for years. He doesn't speak so poorly of them now. I had never heard of getting an extra 6 weeks of vacation for working somewhere 25 years. I once worked at a Swiss insurance company who did it on every 5th anniversary. They wanted you to take it all at once since it's the European way. From what I've heard, the company went way downhill, so I don’t know if they do it anymore. ETA: They gave 6 weeks in addition to what you already had.

I was just sorting through the mail Mister brought in today and sat on the table in the breakfast nook.
There were envelopes from his health insurance provider, each addressed to him and the girls, and one addressed to the girls’ Mom, his ex wife. I started a thread here years ago, about potential insurance fraud, but I didn’t say at the time that it had anything to do with Mister, I framed it as something that had to do with someone I knew. At the time, his ex wife had had a surgery, and apparently used his health insurance because he was getting EOB’s concerning it. They were officially divorced at the time, and had been for several years, and he’d done what he was supposed to have done as far as providing documents showing they were legally divorced but obviously something fell through the cracks, since she was still able to use his insurance.
So since I’m not in the best state of mind today, it aggravated me to see mail addressed to her from his health insurance company today. I asked him why was she getting mail at our address from his health insurance company. And he said Idk. I said “I suggest you find out and handle it”, and walked out of the room.
I still love him, but I actually am glad we didn’t get married a couple months ago, in May, like we started planning to do last year. He has way too much shit he needs to handle before I hitch my wagon to his. His income is a lot more than mine, but I’m not putting what I’ve managed to accomplish and scrape together on my own, at risk…. for anybody. Idc how much I love somebody, Imma always love me first and the most, when it comes to a situation where I have to choose..
Unfortunately, the strange mood I’ve been in all day isn’t getting any better.

They probably haven’t updated their list. But it would irritate me too to see that.

There seems to really be something to this gardening thing, because guess where I went immediately after my last post… right out there to the container where my tomatoes are growing, to tend to them. I am still wary of how dense the foliage is, and skeert of running into scary bugs, but in that frame of mind, I was intent on doing what I needed to do, bugs be damned. I probably can only say that comfortably in hindsight though, since I didn’t actually see any scary bugs. I’m about ready to just give up on today, and just try again tomorrow.

I need to go out and water. It's hot, again. I don't want to go out and water. Adulting sucks sometimes.

I was working out in the yard today too trying to cut down on the crazy bushes. I’m not a nature person and flying bugs especially the stinging kind make me nervous. So I was out clipping away like Edward Scissorhands in the front yard and running away from the bushes every time I disturbed the hidden bugs.

Mister is banging his frustrations out on his drums to the kind of music I like. As sexy as that is to me (and it really is, like oooh weee!) I’m still gonna just get my shit together to go to bed.

I'm at the park perusing cruises while waiting for Carrot to finish canoeing. Does anyone know how easy it is to change a passenger (or eliminate one entirely) before the final payment date?
Not that I'm booking anything, but you know...just in case it accidentally happens. 🤣

Do you wear gloves when you garden? Although it doesn't take away my fear of seeing such things (bugs), having gloves on helps me a lot.

I’m trying to figure out how DH’s brainwork’s?
Here’s the set up. I have an Escape. My husband hates Ford’s generally and my SUV specifically. He only drives it in case of an emergency and he bitches about it the entire time. If he needs to move anything, he has a cross over with the back seats taken out. There is more room to hold things in his vehicle and you don’t have to lift things as high.
A couple of months ago, he helped me put somethings into the back of my SUV. I haven't done anything about them since then. Tonight he’s huffing and puffing under his breath and banging things around. He tells me to get out of my work clothes so I figure I’m taking the dogs early. Nope. He’s pulled my stuff out of my vehicle and is demanding that I put it in the shed. Like, what the fuck? I made him put it in the shed. I’m just going to have to haul it out again on another day.
The only thing that makes any sense is he is planning on asking me to pick up something big tomorrow on my way home from work in which case screw him unless he gives me his vehicle to drive.
I don’t get his problem with my shit. It makes no sense to me.

For just a minute there I thought we were going to need the freezer and Swamp No, it's just difficult to plan a family vacation with ODS now. Hard to say if he'll be around or available a year or two from now. Understood. DD missed our best vacation EVER, because she couldn't get the time off from her Summer job. I did feel a bit of Mom-guilt, but we went anyway. Hoping someday if we have some grandkids that we can plan something special to help make it up to her.

If grandson wants to go to soccer, I will glady take him. It would be right around here somewhere so that isn't even an issue. I haven't heard anything else about it. Don't know if he will or won't. Or his folks can take him, I'm not keeping him from doing anything. This just gives his folks a chance to do stuff with other adults.
You don't see kids out and about playing, grandson said they are probably all inside playing on computers or watching stuff on telly. He is likly correct. Also this is an older community so less kids. But I imagine most are in daycare or some type of sitting like that.
I got my stain, nails for picture hanging and screening today. I still have to return the indoor stain to Walmart. I would also like to paint the concrete on the patio.
i have been cold all day, it was chilly out, even grandson said he was cold. I actually turned the furnace on awhile ago it is 60 outside now. Going to take a warm bath and see if that helps.
Can't believe grandson has not tried so many different foods, I'm wondering if he just doesn't pay attention. He will try most anything I give him. Some foods he likes some he wont, ok with me. I bought he and DD some sushi today, some luncheon meats and cheeses. I will likely fix them a salad tomorrow, going to take a hot bath and read for a bit in the tub,d that will likely get me warm. brrrrrr.
Wednesday want to go to Westport, I still have gas, almost half a tank, this care gets great mileage.

So now grandson is telling me the longest light is red. It's the red spectrum that you can see the furthest away. I guess I need to look that up, he is getting me on a lot of stuff anymore. I have to look it up to see if he knows what he is talking about. I asked him if he knew about prisms and the difference in wave lengths in those and he said yes.
It looks like he ought to go to some kind of class that will fill this curiosity of his. I can't answer a lot of his questions, have to look up answers and not sure I always have it right.
Today he wanted to know why in a Safeway store they had Albertsons signs up, he didn't understand. A lady was smiling and listening to us as I was explaining it must be part of that company. Than of course the discussion about organic foods.
I know he gets a lot for from Utube.
But he is worried about overpopulation, climate change, and what man is doing to one another, cannot understand why people treat each other badly. He needs to enjoy his young life more.
And he was saying everybody is going bankrupt, I asked him why he thought that? He said if prices go higher and higher they must be. I need to explain credit cards. Also interest because he wants to know how grandpa and I have money and don't work. I have gone through it briefly but need more in depth, not sure how in depth. If he talks like this to other little kids no wonder he doesn't have friends, they likely don't understand him or aren't interested in what he is.
He never runs down and has questions about everything, he is a chatterbox for sure.

You can't talk with grandson without getting in some long discussion about something. I'm glad he is that way but sometimes he wears me down. His mom just can't help him, his dad does but I think a lot of time, he is off in his own computer, military world. He is on call too. He no longer has his phone on, tells people to text him, he said he had to turn it off. If it's really important he has a separate phone for that.
DIL talks in Russian to grandson, I asked him if he understands, he said oh yes, but I can't speak it, just a little. His mom said it is very hard to learn to speak. His cousin does because she lived in Russia till she was 13.

Good morning, invisible fonts of erudition and sage advice. Welcome to Tuesday. I hope your day is fair and comfortable, with no unsolveable problems erupting. Today I'm going to tackle the projects I didn't do yesterday, which was a wash out in the end. Something about July makes it difficult to move. I did look into getting some boxes to send to DD for her to begin packing. And I worked on organizing my pictures. The sun is predicted to make an appearance today. So maybe I'll get the sun rising. It has been over a week since I've seen it at dawn. Too cloudy. I got a shot of the water running back at the edge of the surf in yesterday's dawn.
