At 37 degrees, my Subaru tells me the roads may be icy. It has told me when I'm driving through road construction, that I am driving through barriers on each side, that I am driving too close to the wall. There is no where else to go when you are driving with barriers on both sides of the road. Are you ever in the car alone when it's telling you all these things and you just look at the dashboard and say "Shut up!". Because I feel like that would be me. I am really starting to feel like the stereotypical old person yelling "get off my lawns kids" when it comes to all these extra car features. I do like the blind spot thing MPL mentioned. I am always paranoid about my blind spots and check them religiously when I make lane changes. But, this other stuff sounds like it would just be so distracting. People drive like idiots around here. I'm trying to concentrate. How am I supposed to concentrate with the car trying to tell me what to do?

What does it want me to do, activate the rotors and become a helicopter for the next 10 miles?

The one things Subarus yell about that I wish mine would is lane changing. The light comes on in the mirror, but I would appreciate a bit of a shriek if I put my turn signal on with someone in the blind spot. Turn signal? What is this strangeness of which you speak? I saw a great meme a couple of weeks ago that said, "Using your turn signal is NOT revealing information to the enemy". I can always tell the out-of-staters or folks from the local driving school because they use their turn signals. And actually stop at stop signs and red lights. DH and I live in a different state now than we used to. There are no turn signals in this state. We joke about whether or not it is illegal to use one. I guess it makes driving more exciting for some folks?

Yeah, I get the annoying pinging and a snowflake appears on my dashboard. Cold, really, cold? I never would have guessed it even though my front deck is covered in ice. What a help! Huh. That sure is something. I have no idea if my car even has that. If there is ice out my car is not moving. I have had to take Kiddo to school when it is "cold". Though, cold down here on a school morning is most likely 28-32 F. I honestly don't know what I would do with a snowflake light. Probably just nope myself right back into the house until it went away. Yeah, even though I have a Jeep Wrangler now, that is great for driving on snow, it’s still a big NOPE for me. I know it’s a champ in snow because Mister and rode in it after his car car got stuck in the driveway just trying to get it out of of the garage. After some shoveling, he managed to get his car back in the garage (when it was less than 10’ from the entrance) and he wanted to see what the Jeep would do. But even though I’ve seen how well it handles snow, I’m not driving it in snow by myself. The Jeep rolled up and out of the driveway with no issues, without even using the 4WD. Mister hates my Jeep, but he can’t honestly say that it’s not handy in certain situations. Technically and legally, it’s his, because he bought it just because I wanted it, and we’ve never bothered with putting the title in my name, but it’s still “mine”, just like the Tahoe is “his”. We drive the Jeep and Tahoe, respecting who they “being to”, and they are both fair game for whoever needs or wants to drive them. Our cars are different, I have a Honda Accord ‘03 coupe and he has a ‘16 sedan. We don’t drive each other’s Hondas unless it’s an emergency situation.

I told DS he was in charge of dinner tonight, so he decided to bring home Papa Murphy's. That's great, but it's been sitting on the kitchen counter for an hour now and he's in the basement gaming. I think the assumption is still that I will actually make it. Not that it's a big deal to make a pizza, but still...YOU'RE in charge of dinner tonight, means I'M the one that sits on my ass.

Snow shuts things down faster than a hurricane. That's a big fat NO. Ice is the dicey one. Doesn't happen often. But we have lots of interstate overpasses. And lots of businesses try to stay open and require workers to come to work. So ice is the one you have to nope out of things. Snow is automatic shut down. I can't say I blame you. When you live in a place that doesn't get winter precipitation often, there are inevitably lots of accidents because folks don't know what to do or how to drive in the winter precipitation. Better to just nope right out of the entire ordeal if you can.

My car has voice activated controls, but she NEVER understands what I'm saying. "Call Lucy" "I'm sorry, did you say call Susie" "Call Lucy" "Susie?" "Lucy!" "Calling Susie"

Only emission testing now in NJ. I’ve been caught in police checks for stickers. No emissions from Teslas!
Actually think it was good to test brakes lights etc for safety checks. But no just emissions that aren’t a safety hazard (but do decrease pollution)

I might be turning into a Petty Betty as I get older, when I’ve never really been like that before.
This past Tuesday, on July 4th, Kiddo’s Mom wanted Mister to come get Kiddo. Mister doesn’t turn down any opportunities to spend time with his children, so he went and got Kiddo. His Mom had him dressed in a shirt that made a statement with the writing in it, and she told Kiddo to take pictures with his Dad before he came home that evening, so she’d have recent pictures for a screensaver. Mister declined to take the picture lol.
She’s seriously a nut. And it’s not because I think Mister is the bees knees and everything perfect in a man (he is NOT!) that I say she is still hung up on him. She STILL does and says shit that make it clear that she still has not moved on.
After my children’s Dad and I separated and divorced, I never tried to use them to keep ties to their Dad, because I didn’t give a fuck about him and his life. My concern was how I was gonna provide for my babies, regardless of what their Dad did or did not do. Even with that, he was more than welcome to maintain relationships with them and I would’ve helped with the logistics and did try, as much as I could, even though I didn’t give a fuck about him and only cared about the impact he had on my babies.

Okay, supper served, laundry done, and toilets cleaned. Overall, I do appreciate everything DH does around the house, including changing the sheets and running that load of laundry today. However, having just removed, dismantled and cleaned the toilet seats and lids using assorted tools like toothpicks and old toothbrushes to get unmentionable substances out of the crevices, I'm not exactly feeling the love at the moment. Nor am I understanding the physics involved in getting those substances in those locations. What the eff does he have, a fire hose set on "blast"?

Nothing more pathetic than a woman who uses her child in a desperate attempt to cling to a long-failed relationship. That stupid woman should be incredibly grateful that Mister is a good dad who genuinely loves his son and consistently tries to build a relationship with him.

My car likes to randomly lose its mind and change the XM station and shriek about navigation will be at max volume. Google tells me it's definitely a thing but most of the dealers seem stumped as to cause. One suggestion is failing navigation cards. It does seem to happen more when I'm sitting in traffic.
Tonight is the last night here so after I finish my salad I've got to finish laundry and pack thing up and clean. I need to figure out my packing for the next 3 days so everything doesn't need to go in the hotel. We are going further south to see my cousin before finally going home Monday.

What you said is more accurate of what happens: In all fairness, I would probably end up saying shut the fuck up to the car. I was trying to be polite I do like it's help when I am driving in big cities that I don't know by myself. It drove me straight to DN1's last apartment in Toronto. "I" took the same wrong turn in the last block but I figured out how to get there myself because I couldn't follow directions on that last block. Hopefully I can find the new apartment.

Like MPL, we have lots of old farmers who think they can still drive around here. I mean 90 somethings. At least we didn't have to fight my parents on that. The closest I have come to getting in to an accident since I moved here, is when one of these old codgers pulled on to the 4 lane highway (which has been a 4 lane highway since all of my sister's kids were born) on an icy morning and started spinning out. I saw him and knew what he was going to do so I had started slowing down. Luckily for me, there was no one in the left lane and I could move over. He got a royal chewing out--that he didn't hear.

That sucks. My current car and the one I had before this had a different light for the tire sensors. Still lit up if a sensor went out but it was different from the check engine light. How are you even supposed to know the tire sensors are the problem? I like knowing how much I'm supposed to worry. Having the engine light come on because of the tire sensor would drive me insane! Cause it literally says "check tire sensor" on my dashboard. It also likes to tell me be careful of ice when it's cold. Like I haven't just walked through the cold to get to the car.🙄 But it can't tell me when my battery is dying. That would be a useful message. When I turn my car off and have my Dogs in the car, I get a warning message that says “Check Rear Seat” I always tell my Dogs it says “Check Rear Seat for Doggies”.

subaru's are special - they tell you lots of stuff. When I back out of my slightly steep driveway, it screams and flashes a warning that there is pavement behind me. When I back out of a space in a parking lot, it shrieks an alert that there are cars passing on the street behind the parking lot. When I'm trying to back out of a tight parking spot, it applies automatic braking so I can't get within 1 foot of the shrubs behind me. Wanna guess why I'm not buying another Subaru? The one things Subarus yell about that I wish mine would is lane changing. The light comes on in the mirror, but I would appreciate a bit of a shriek if I put my turn signal on with someone in the blind spot. Or if you drift out of your lane. My 2021 Toyota quietly rumbles if you go over the line without a blinker on. DD’s 2016 Subaru made audible noise and pulled you back in the lane. It also would apply the brakes if you were going to rear end someone. I like the fact that I get audible beeping if I am in reverse and a car whips behind me. I was trying to back out of my space Saturday and 2 cars whipped behind me.

Going to see the musical Chess tonight. I think it's about the Russian chess champions during the cold war. Will be interesting to hear how they sing about it. Part of our season ticket package. Fortunately StL temps are in the high 80s. Chance for spotty storm at show time could be interesting as this is outdoor venue and they allow up to a 2 hour delay before cancelling. I’ve never seen the play but I bought the soundtrack back when it was the new thing. I really like it. And now I keep alternating between “I know him so well”, “One Night in Bangkok” and whatever the British diplomats ditty is called. I wonder if they’re still using the original lyrics for One Night in Bangkok. It gets a lot of grieve for the negative stereotypes which is fair but I tended to think of it as saying more about the jerk singing it than Bangkok. I hope you enjoy it

We went to see Indiana Jones today, we all liked it even though it was a long movie. When leaving there was an old man down from me that left his foot in the aisle, no lights were on. I tripped over it and fell, and tore a place on my arm about 2 inches by 2 inches, its down to the next layer of skin. I think it was his daughter that came over and told me she was sorry and was I ok, what can you say? She saw my arm because I was keeping it from bleeding. My skin is thin also, but I think the guy either had or was getting dementia because he didn't even seem to realize anything was wrong. I may have a few bruises otherwise but my bones are strong so nothing broken. So I told her I would be fine. I carry bandages and stuff in the back of my car. Above the tire well there is a partitioned area that I carry emergency supplies in so was able to cover it wil a large bandage. But it's going to be a mess to try and heal. My doc ordered a script for DD in case she got infected skin areas so after I got home, I put that on and a fresh dressing. It really looks awful and now a bruise is developing beside it. Have to make sure it doesn't get infected.
We had some crab and DD and little guy ate some sushi, so our dinner was done. Now DIL needs to fix something for son. He was wanting little guy to come home this weekend so I sent him home with his mom. He didn't want to go. But his dad was missing him, so that's ok.
They had a community yard sale in the park. DIL and I bought a few things, I got a big painting for $5, and she got some decorator items. I really like the painting, going to put it in the dining room. The park lady gave me a pretty credenza I'm putting it in the front entrance area, she said she had no room for it and had moved it all over and her son said either sell it or give it away. I liked it so she gave it to me. It's to heavy for me to move so she said the guys would bring it over. Not sure when though.
Now I'm kind of glad my grandson did go home tonight. I'm tired and my arm is kind of hurting so not really wanting to entertain tonight.
I think the heart doc gave me the amplodopine for angina. When he started treating me I had been to the ER several times with chest pain, so he started it. I'm pretty sure that is what he prescribed it for, it's at the lowest dose.

That would be more than enough reason for me to put my foot down. Make it clear that you are not caring for anyone's pets now or in the future. Do you want me to tell them? I'm most definitely not shy. Alternatively to Andy coming over (I like her to be our "secret weapon" as long as possible LOL) next time you say no add I retired 100% from house and pet sitting as off January this year and I won't change my decision so please stop asking as it only causes aggravation and my response will not change. I just enjoy hearing her offer to take care of the various people, or situationds every time I read one of her offers. Thank you andi9899. For the offer and the smile you brought to me. This is going to be interesting, when the 18th comes around, if they haven't found someone else, before then. I may need andi to come protect my life, in that case. But I hope not. I am currently watching Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs with my granddaughters. We're having an unexpected and unplanned sleep over. Then we'll go to the Girls t-ball games early tomorrow morning. DGD1 is a wild person when she sleeps. She gets turned sideways and does a LOT of kicking. I hope we get some sleep.

Grandson sleeps that way too. Last night I had him roll over to grandpas bed, we have separate ones for a reason. Hubs has restless legs and would beat the bed half the night so this allows me to sleep Well, grandson kicks and goes on and is really hot at night. Lots of nights he takes his shirt off, so I had him roll over on gramps bed to sleep. He is getting big enough he needs to sleep in his own bed and does here. I think he crawls in with his mom lots of nights. We are in the same room and separate beds.
I just got to thinking about does this dishwasher have a filter like mine at home. It looks fairly new, so got to looking. Yes, it does and I figured out how to get it out. You would not believe what was in it, looked like cottage cheese or something, totally nasty. I also found a toothpick down in the other part, how it didn't go in the drain I don't know.I am running it now, it should really work better. It was actually much easier to take apart and clean then my Bosch. I doubt it's ever been cleaned. Oddly when you buy a dishwasher, no emphasis is ever put on cleaning the thing. People, just don't seem to know about it I guess. While at it I looked at the washer and it has a clean cycle too, I will run it also.
I ordered DIL a pattern, she is wanting to learn to sew, we will see how that goes. I got the part that was missing from my older machine. Somehow it had a rough trip up here. Hope I can help her.

Good morning, comedic car-driving invisipeeps with communicative vehicles. Welcome to Saturday. I hope you prosper today in every good way and that your car says nothing untoward. My current car, a 2013 Prius, doesn't say much except to beep when I'm backing up or DH again forgets to fasten his seatbelt, but I used to have a 2005 Volvo S80 with all the bells and whistles. It had the snow indicator which at first confused me. It went off when the temperature was seriously cold, but was on in the 38-26 range. It also had bun warmers and a very cool feature, a save settings for up to 3 positions which would move the mirrors and seat for different drivers. I loved that. I got the car certified used and drove it to the ground at over 200,000 miles. Got to get moving now and bring Franklin the Dog to the beach, then get ready to set up for the show which is 2 towns over. I think we're ready enough. We'll see. My website is now ready for prime time. The mornings at dawn here have been foggy and overcast although the sun bursts out later in the day. I took this of the cove yesterday with my favorite sailboat moored in it.

Texas is a free for all just like the rest of us red states. We're bright blue and have never had inspections. I'm talking about in general. In most red states you can do whatever you want unless it goes against conservative "values" and allows for any sort of human/civil rights.

It's a service I actually do offer IRL. Since IDGAF about being loud or hurting feelings, I'm usually the "fixer." T1 was saying something about me being loud or something the other day. I looked her in the eye and said "yeah, and people don't fuck with me, do they?" Funny thing is, I'm one of the nicest people you'll ever meet. When it's time not to be nice is when you don't want to be the one I'm talking to. If you feel foggy enough to put your hands on me, we can do that too. Then you'll have to tell everyone you got beat up by a tiny brown lady. Also, the general "you", not you specifically.

I should wash my bedding. I woke up stupid early for some reason. Instead I'm parked on the couch drinking coffee.

fantastic. so I'm heading up to NH tomorrow am, that's why my parents are coming down. I forgot until earlier this week that my inspection sticker expired at the end of June. oops. I ran out just now to knock that out, there's a service station out on the main road. well, I have a nice shiny rejection sticker (which is actually more valid than the 6/23 one) for my troubles. my rear center seat belt buckle won't click to secure the harness. I would bet my house that I've never even tried to use that one, as I can count on one hand that there have even been FOUR people in my car. so I called my dealership to ask about getting another one, and it turns out that the center and passenger are a one-piece deal and that the seat has to come out in order to replace it. I'm going to call around to some junkyards in the area to see if anyone's got one for cheaper than the $97 brand new. I have 60 days for the rejection sticker, and I'm currently pencilled in for a service appointment on 7/26 which was the first available. I'm going to have my dad see if he can mess with it tonight, I had no luck. I was annoyed at a $600 bill to replace my ignition last summer, but this one really frosts my ass. the car has over 200k miles on it, but a never-used seatbelt is going to fail my inspection? oy. I have never had my seat belts checked during an inspection. Maryland, Virginia, or West Virginia.
