I'm getting the house shopping bug again. This one has me intrigued. Lots of what I want. One level, walking distance to work, attached garage, fenced yard... Bigger than I'd "need", but I'd rather have too big than too small.
once I got past all of the wood grain, that place is adorable! huge room with that piano in it, too. and the last few pics look like an indoor/outdoor entertaining space. do it up! I love all the wood myself, but that's not a turn off for me. The floor in the basement I don't quite get. I think they just ripped up whatever was there and epoxied it. Not sure.
And I have NO idea what this is. A bar?

oh, I definitely missed that pic....wow. and yes, that's exactly what that looks like. Mina and Karen did that in an episode of Good Bones, but theirs came out way better...yikes. also yes, that's gonna be a bar. that step up around the bottom is your foot rests on tall bar stools that apparently are not part of the listing.

The added on porch with the indoor grilling area is what clinches it for me.

Earned my green iced tea today. I weeded the back and side yard, and cleaned up after the landscape lunatics who were hired by the next door knuckleheads to trim their hedges. The neighbors are not home, the landscapers took off, leaving the hedge clippings on our side of the fence. So I weeded the vegetable plot while I was out there. We did have swim practice this morning. Had a protein shake and watched the Tour de France, and now washing a load of towels. Dinner is grilled and fried shrimp, rice and salad.

Lounging on my back porch. Thinking about taking a nap. Neighbors always put on nice fireworks show so watched for a while last night. I'm sure there will be more tonight so we'll probably sit out here and watch them again.
Happy 4th of July everyone!

Don't have anything planned for today. It was supposed to rain, but it's sunny and hot right now. We got a huge storm last night, and we'll probably have another one later today. I'm going to the park. It has a nice walking path, and a small beach by the lake. I swam there yesterday and will do today.
I try not to go to any stores on holidays I want retailers to get the hint and close, so employees will have the holiday off. But I'm really craving Chinese food. I'll swing by the Chinese food restaurant; I'll buy takeout if they are open. I'll make an exception this time, I want to pamper myself and my life is complicated right now.
As for fireworks, we had quite a few isolated ones the last few days, but they are really loud. Michi didn't get upset until the very loud ones started. Then he left his usual spot by the window, and went to the bathroom. I went to check on him, he wasn't agitated or scared. I guess he just wanted some quiet.

I'm currently doing something I haven't done in at least almost 9y since I sold my condo. I threw a couch cushion on the floor and am sitting at my coffee table as an appropriate-height 'desk' while I putz around on the laptop and with the puzzle books. I definitely never did this in the last house, and I sold the condo in the fall of 2014. I'm just leaning back against the couch, and it's all quite nice. now let's see how I feel about getting back up in a couple hours lol...

Ok, I think everything I have done with this house is "wrong." None of it is earth-shatteringly wrong, but still I hope it isn't an omen of things to come. First, I think I took the $76k out of the wrong Roth account. One has stocks, etc.; the other is the money I took out of that and put into a money market Roth to have the money available. Both are labeled Roth IRA Brokerage, which I didn't know, and both have $90K in them. Lol. I did it on the phone with a Vanguard rep, and it won't actually take effect until tomorrow, but the last 4 of the account vaguely reminds me of the "wrong" one. I have no way to check today and no way to correct it, anyway. Both are not taxable so it isn't the worse that could happen. You can't just look online to see which account has the pending activity?
Worst case, you can put in an order for the same stocks/funds in the other account to go through on the same day and it will be a wash.
It won't go in until tomorrow. Yes, on the worst case. And I'm earning 5% on the MM account so that's fine, too.

I don't think I can finish painting DSs room today. I'll get it primed. Debating if I want to get the first layer of color down or not.

Ha! I just got a suggestion to add someone that's hella shady to my LinkedIn contacts. No thanks. I've been in the game for a long time and there are certain people who don't get to be associated with me.

Waiting for T1 to pick me up. We're going to get fireworks and then going to my parents.

it's already 230pm. (or 130, I can't remember if we're in the same time zone) anyway, get it primed and see how you feel once that's done. because it's gonna take time to dry, as well. you do so much in your days, don't break your back here.

Had lunch at a great Chinese restaurant near us - packed as always with large family groups enjoying time together. It poured at the restaurant but bone dry here at the house. I hope we get a good soaker before tonight for safety reasons. Tomorrow's trash day and all the idiots have their cans out early. Even I want to put fireworks in them and watch the flames so someone is bound to try it. Lamb chops are marinating

I've been in the game for a long time and there are certain people who don't get to be associated with me. I'd suggest actively blocking that person on LI, actually. I had someone that I knew online, that was probably legit certifiable, reach out to my employer's HR to accuse me of some bullshit he claimed happened during normal business hours. I hadn't posted with that person in years by that point, so idk WTF happened to spark this. but thankfully, they saw through the tall tale and asked me about it. I was all since I'd just blown up the previous gig by calling the FDA and had only been at the new place a little while. I asked for the name, and when I heard it, I was like oh......... that guy. it all worked out, but I'm glad I was WFH the day those calls went down. b/c no way I could have done that in the office and not lost my shit.

Crap, OS Cranberry juice cocktails are on sale, and they said they were out of my preferred one. Did not realize they wanted to sub in a 46oz not the 64 oz of a similar variety. Hope I remember to call tomorrow. The other substitution I expected as my preferred flavor of on sale Kind bars are never in stock when they pick. I bet there are perfectly fine 64oz available bottles of what I got. Too early for them to be out of the original.

so, I'm a world-class asshole (as if there was any doubt?) b/c I just got up to go hit the restroom and loudly asked "who wants to go out?" since we've been down here a few hours now. well, LD got right up, and I had to coax Punk off the couch (read, pull her down) to some serious shade when she finally got to her feet. well, we get upstairs and it's raining sideways again and LD won't even consider putting a paw out the door. Punk goes right out and does both businesses (I watched her walk back toward the deck and turn around....) and gets soaked, and LD is still staring at me as if it's my fault that it's raining. so I put on a raincoat and boat shoes, and open a HUGE golf umbrella to take him out the front door instead. Punk is barking like she's being abused while we're out front, and he's looking at me like "Momma, WHY are my paws all wet??" and doesn't actually pee. I spent a good 15-20min out there with him, and nothing. we are back downstairs, and he's still shooting daggers at me like I can stop the rain. sorry, dude, even if I could, I want it to keep downpouring. you're gonna get wet today, and you're also going to sleep better because of it.

Just finished making the mango blueberry salad. Love mangos, but hate cutting them up.
Have tennis on, but need to go out on the deck and shuck corn. I’ll pick up my knitting later. The brats are sacked out, it’s hard being a dog on the 4th of July.

Which do they hate worse? Fireworks or rain? The more rain, the less fireworks. What a conundrum!

Which do they hate worse? Fireworks or rain? The more rain, the less fireworks. What a conundrum! ikr?? LD hates loud, but loves sleeping away rainy days. he just doesn't like getting wet unless he's in the ocean, chasing his sister. so he holds it to not go out in a downpour. Punk isn't bothered by much, unless LD is already barking. and then she joins in and drowns him out. so basically, all of this revolves around LD. this past week, she's got cabin fever like I do. the rain has killed a lot of fun options this week, so we've just stayed home. I just actually went upstairs b/c I was trying to text a screen shot and that doesn't work from the basement. I noticed it had stopped raining and called LD up to go out. so we're good here for a few more hours now.

DH overheard me talking to my mom and assumed the "health issue" was about mom. I corrected him and came clean that it was about me. I will call the doc in the morning, and move in from there. I also have an extremely important meeting at 10am tomorrow. I am way beyond stressed at this point.

I like it. That's exactly what I'd look for, but you would pay way more for it here in the city. No kidding: change the first number to a 9 and put a 1 in front of it and you might have a chance. That is only because prices have fallen around here. At the beginning of tbe year just putting a2 in front would have been reasonable

Love it! Although, the idea of a koi pond at the bottom of that waterfall made me giggle. LOVE the fireplace and the kitchen. I'll bring something to your open house if you get it.
