Cole slaw. But beer is good. There's two other neighbors going and one is bringing coleslaw and the other watermelon. Maybe they'll have some kind of 4th of July desserts at Sam's. It's an early 4th party because nobody wants to do it on Tuesday and go to work the next day.

Yep my doc said thyroid issues really mess up your body.
Somehow I forgot mine for a couple of weeks, maybe longer caused me to be exhausted, I'm back on them.
DD's is to high, mine to low.

It's been a productive day. I finished a stitching project (I know!), did the home depot activity, got some painting supplies, dropped off a couple bags to the thrift shop. Going to work on math/reading with the peanut. Then I think DSs room for as much as I can for the rest of the weekend. Except for reading with the peanut. Then she has about 5 or 6 weeks to read two more books and do mini reports. Sometimes I think the school hates us.

FB just reminded me that today is WI Beth's birthday. happy birthday, Beth. I was just thinking about her yesterday when all the SC decisions were coming - she would follow and post every session.

No way will I be working the next day. Also, I vote beer.

Y'all it's 2pm and I'm still in my pajamas. I'm just gonna call it a day at this point. I have to get the dogs food, but they have enough to get them to tomorrow. I'll just do it tomorrow. I should take a shower at some point though.

Roasting chicken round one. Good thing it took so long to defrost that it all seems OK. Not looking forward to shredding it all as they are odd pieces from the food pantry and were in a pretty huge bag considering there is just me. Critters do not eat cooked chicken. Red Sonja the bearded dragon would, but she was amazing in her willingness to try and eat so many different things.

I just gave up on trying to stream the Sox game. they are in Toronto this weekend, would have been nice to catch the Canada Day pre-game stuff, but that's when the stream decided to puke. I couldn't load any game, so it's not just the Sox stream.
instead, I'm watching the end of NASCAR qualifiers for the street course in Chicago. SVU episodes start at the top of the hour. maybe I can scare my neighbors with some blood-curdling screams from the tiki bar lol..
I'm going to pull some weeds while I'm out here. if I can find my gloves, anyway. I want to be out here as long as possible, b/c Punk is in her element rn.

Finally got DH's watch back from the jeweler. Then we went to the furniture store and test drove a couple of Tempur-Pedic pillows to find the right firmness and ordered 2. They will be delivered next Friday in a lovely 3-hour window which thoroughly irritates me - just leave 'em on the porch, people! Nope, got to sign for 'em.
I did eat my fill of sushi and sashimi which I was really craving.

Finished round two of roasting chicken pieces and turned the oven off to keep it from getting too hot in here. Going to try to do the rest that was not put in baggies and refrigerated in one last round today.
Contemplating making some stuffing like dish for dinner with the chicken and the potato bread I bought yesterday. Maybe toss in a couple fresh cherry pieces instead of dried cranberries? Eating more expensive chocolate chip cookies even though I should be done for the day. Wish I had something a little healthier I wanted to eat like TJ's herbed popcorn. I do have some rice cakes, but not feeling it right now.

I also am pleased I found my key ring, which turns out it was never lost to begin with. I thought I misplaced my keys for a few weeks.
I'm just down to missing my bib I was knitting and a car key.

Back from the arts and crafts market. It worked really well. We got practice putting up the canopy and setting up our wares, and sold some photos. Had a great spot under a tree with the gentle breeze coming through. Next weekend is a more focused arts fair. I'm hoping we'll do well there. I'll come to your house, chiver78, especially if andi9899 delivers on the Mexican buffet! DH was up virtually all night getting ready. He'll sleep well tonight. So will I, I think. All the sunshine--not used to it. We're going Monday morning to Maine, bringing with us braised short ribs. I think DSis, DB and his GF will enjoy.

Pink Cashmere You are welcome here anytime, too. That is, if you can deal with two cats. I don’t mind cats. I am mildly allergic to them though. I’ll just make sure I take all of my allergy medicine, it’ll be worth it to meet you!

Would anyone like a set of twins? I was eating earlier and one of the mussels didn't open when they were cooking, so I threw it away since you're not supposed to eat the ones that don't open. I went outside for 5 minutes to help my mom into my grandma's house and there are fragments of mussel shells on the slipcover I washed last night. So I took the trash out and put the slipcover in the washer. Since I don't know which twin did it, they both have to go. Now off I go to Google "can dogs eat mussels."

Just learned that dogs can in fact eat mussels. Now I just have to watch that the shells didn't damage anything on the way in/out.

I was about to say, pretty much all seafood is okay in moderation. my two don't get shellfish simply b/c shellfish isn't a thing in my house due to my own allergies. but yes, the shells are concerning. as is, the one that didn't open. hope they are both okay.

I met Mister at his Aunt’s house this afternoon to help him clean, since Brother is spending the day with his daughter and didn’t go. O.M.G. I have never seen anything like that in my life. I’ve been in a hoarder’s house, where she had to put a kitchen chair in the living room for me to sit down. But her house still doesn’t compare to Aunt’s house.
All we really did was make a path for the wheelchair from the den, through the kitchen, to the bathroom in the hall, and there are 5 Contractor grade garbage bags on the curb, another we left in the living room full of clothes that were on the floor in the kitchen and den, plus 8 boxes and a large trash bag of stuff for her to sort through. There was a pile under the kitchen table over a foot high, clothes, shoes and garbage all kinds of garbage, like empty bleach bottles and a styrofoam food container that had food in it at one point.
I went to get the stuff off the floor in the bathroom so she can get to the toilet and when I saw all the rodent droppings in the bathroom, I turned right back around. I left soon after that.
Every room in the house is like that. She’s going to have to sleep on the sofa in the den. Because we didn’t even bother with trying to clear an oath to any of the bedrooms.
The boxes and bags she needs to sort through, I stacked them on the coffee table in the den, that Mister had pushed against the wall after he got most of the crap off of it. I put 2 of the contractor bags on top of one of the boxes. I told Mister to tell her to sort through that shit and if it’s still the same number of boxes and the bags are empty, when he or we go back over there, I’m going to call whoever and tell them that her home is a health hazard. Because it is. We both wore gloves today, and I won’t go back over there without a mask. When I was sweeping the kitchen, once I made a pile, Mister insisted on getting it into the trash bag because he said he didn’t want me to come in close contact with it. And the carpet in the den is stained and looks like a large area of mold. It has to come up. Actually, I feel like I need a HazMat suit.
I’m taking a hardline about her sorting the boxes because she needs to help with this shit. Her refrigerator was warm when Mister got there, so all the food in it is spoiled. Mister threw everything in the freezer away and cleaned and bleached it. He was going to start on the refrigerator, but I told him she can sit in her wheelchair and do that herself. If she refuses to help with cleaning up, I STG I will report her living conditions before I help clean it up OR agree with Mister doing it. I’m beyond sick of them putting more and more on him, expecting him to clean up their messes, figuratively and literally. I will be the bad guy and don’t give a FUCK if it makes her hate me for the rest of her life.
If you met her, you would NEVER think her home would be as filthy and disgusting as it is. She always has make up on and is dressed very nice, and just looks classy. Looks can be SO deceiving. And I didn’t even get to the damage to the house. Cabinet doors off in the kitchen, the kitchen floor started treating years ago, half of the floor has the laminate under the last floor that was installed over it. I tried to pick up what I thought was a rotted wood pole or something, but it was the top layer of flooring that had rolled up.
But she’s worried about Mister throwing away her stuff. The whole house and the contents (but not her) really needs to just be burnt down.
Mister found a ceramic bird that he recognized and said his Mom made. I told him to take it home. Aunt couldn’t have cared about it too much since it was buried in all that shit, and she probably hasn’t even seen it in years anyway. There’s also an elephant that his Mom made, I told him to leave that one, because there’s a reason she likes elephants, and I’m sure that’s why his Mom made that one and gave it to her.

Had a nice crab feast with parents, then waited out a storm before driving home. Saw the prettiest rainbow on the way home. Finishing up a load of laundry, contemplating getting a bath before DH gets home from work.

Pink Cashmere Please, please, both of you wear masks. You know I'm chill with things, but rodent droppings can carry really bad stuff called Hanta virus. And black mold is also a scary bad thing. You and Mister are 100% right in reporting this living condition to the appropriate authorities. The fact that she's family has zero to do with it. Those aren't conditions an animal should live in, much less a human being. I wish I could play the game of believing that this woman will actually clean up her stuff, but I can't. You know it's a hoarder house, total loss. Yes, they do often look really good and fool family, neighbors, and co-workers for years. Yeah, these are mean words, but it's on her, not you or Mister.

That's really revolting and terribly sad, Pink Cashmere. The woman needs to have professional help. She probably beyond help that she could get from a psychologist, and needs supportive living arrangements, like assisted living. It's ugh.

I like it when you go over the river and through the woods. aw, thanks... um, I just read through your post about Aunt's house. I'll just offer this for now - when my fastidious Nana passed in 2004, I had just moved out of my parents' house (see that quoted post above) into a condo, and my kid sister had just graduated college - it was her grad card sig that we both have inked on our left feet. the last card Nana gave before she passed. anyway! the point I was about to make, Aunt may have still been keeping up appearances. but one of the first things my sis, Dad and I did when we were done sitting around staring at each other, the days between Nana passing on Sunday and her services on Thusrday was to absolutely dismantle the refrigerator and clean it. for all of her insistence on making our beds when I was a kid b/c we couldn't make them to her standards, that fridge was absolutely disgusting from the spills and she would have been horrified about it. from your posts, it sounds like Aunt's been declining for a little bit. and I'm sorry for that. try to keep your boundaries, because it's probably not getting better.

Yes. I can deal with a lot of stuff, but rodent droppings is a no go for me. When I did a clean before I moved in with DH I made him deal with those (mostly under cabinets), and thoroughly cleanse himself afterwards. Pest control and we haven't had an issue since. And I grew up in a rowhouse in Baltimore battling roaches.
