Good morning, dedicated invisipeeps, putting your week behind you and readying for a holiday weekend (in the U.S.) Welcome to Saturday, in the park, I think it was the fourth of July . . . Or at least, the 1st of July. I hope your day brings welcome news and offers outstanding rest and relaxation. Today is the first show we've got since last Saturday was rained out. I think we're ready. DH, who has OCD but not in a bad way, sees more to do. I just chased him to bed. Commonly when we have an event starting soon he finds something to do that doesn't really need doing at all. One New Year's Day when we had an open house party he left just before guests began arriving and came back an hour later with lemons. We joke about it now. Yesterday had a foggy morning again, then an exotically sunny day. I saw more tiny dinosaurs, my flock of Great Egrets.

thanks! it was already here, just filthy and rusty. I'm outfitting it appropriately, and intend to entertain now that the world has opened up again. the acrylic stuff is martini and margarita glasses, and champagne flutes. glass is not allowed outside past the deck (I realize that the bottles are glass.....still working on that detail) might be a time for another gathering at chiver's house. jussayin.... Just let me know when and I'll be there.😁 Don't make me go back there.

countrygirl2, why is your daughter going to the car to listen to music? Wouldn't a pair of headphones so she can go to her room be better?

Debating. Today's the last day for strawberry picking. I should go.
I''ve been up for 3 minutes and DH is already on my nerves. I also want a quilt kit. It's a BOM. I have BOMs I just had to have over the past 15 years and they are siting in my basement. Lots of them.
I could just get the templates. Which would cost less. But, then I'd have to pull the fabric myself. No. It's going to be at least 4 years before things slightly slow down in my household. I'll only have two kids in the grind.
If I don't get it, I'm going to feel bad. If I get it, I'm going to feel bad. Being me is hard.

Today is mom's birthday. Going to have a crab feast later, but need to get groceries first. That will mean a double trip, but if not I'd have to get groceries tomorrow and I hate running around both weekends days if I don't have to. Plus I still need to get the park dues paid, so that may be tomorrow.

Good morning! Drinking my cold brew on the couch and ignoring my rumbling tummy for the moment.
Husband is going mountain biking with his buddy and spending the night at his place, so I will get a day to myself. My plan is to return sandals at the Cole Haan store, go to a consignment shop and see if I can find linen pants (or anything that strikes my fancy), hit up Trader Joe's, and go to a favorite restaurant and enjoy a spritz or two while I order a margherita pizza to go. Then I am home in my jammies for the night with a glass of wine and bingeing either the final season of Marvelous Mrs. Maisel or Never Have I Ever. I have too many shows to catch up on.

Waking up. Slept late which was great as I needed it. Unfortunately, there was a water main break yesterday in my area and we have a mandatory boil water alert until further notice. (Probably July 5th. ) Need to check the weather and cram in laundry and whatever before it rains yet again. I wanted to wash and color my hair this weekend and now wondering is it a bad idea now?

I fired up the smoker so my backyard will smell pretty good today. Otherwise, I really don't have a lot of motivation. I'm also wondering why I didn't ask off for Monday.

I was talking to DH and I said IDK if it's failure as parents or technology or both but I don't get how we ended up with kids that need to be constantly entertained.
I'm fine with being bored. I have been running ragged at work this month. I want nothing more than to drink my tea and watch Pioneer Woman. I find her relaxing.
On one hand I feel bad I can't give them a magical fun packed summer. But shit costs a lot anymore and we've had a lot of unexpected expenses this year kick our butt.
But then again I never have been that type of summer mom.
I don't get it. I was so freaking stoked when I became old enough to stay home alone. The whole house to myself! I felt so grown up. Watched a shit load of Golden Girls.
Thinking we might enroll Abby in kids and Co again next year depending on cost. If they have daily rates it's worth it. She can go on swim days.
$400 a week when DH is home not worth it.
Don't get it. I must be the complete opposite of my kids.

countrygirl2 , why is your daughter going to the car to listen to music? Wouldn't a pair of headphones so she can go to her room be better? I think they were at a store or something. IIRC DD can’t or doesn’t like to do a lot of walking.

I’ve figured out one more thing. It was definitely the medicine for my hands that was making it so hard for me to get up on time for work. I only take it as needed and hadn’t taken it in 2 or 3 weeks. Took it last night, and felt like old times this morning, but not in a good way.
I’m going to see if I can take something else instead. I don’t like that one anyway, because while it does help when my hands and arms start acting up at night, those aren’t the only nerves that settle down. And there are some nerves I prefer to be active, if you know what I mean.

I really wish sometimes I had a Go Pro set up so I could share the adventures of Moon Shadow with you. I've fed him a few dandelion greens and some flower stalks but not near enough in his opinion. He even sniffed my hand which brought them in and put part of his body in my hand while he sniffed in vain for more greens and flowers. Maybe I will go on a search on his behalf after laundry is done.
Since its actually dry today I hope to do a little weeding and garden maintenance after laundry. Need to boil some water so I have some available for him and Crestie. (And me)

Finishing off my cup of coffee before heading out to get my way overdue haircut. This weekend we will have temperatures in the low 90s. Warmer than I like but at least humidity is low so it should not be too bad.

I certainly got a lesson in how something being wrong with one part of your body can affect all kinds of other things happening with your body. So we are starting with the most obvious one first: the thyroid. I had no idea of what all it can do that is bad for your body.
I told someone I don't have the headspace to fix everything at once and see a million specialists. Well, if fixing the thyroid improves the other issues, I don't have to do that.
I understand the change won't happen overnight, but I now have hope, which I haven't had since pre-Covid.
I must have felt like the weight of the world had lifted. I came home yesterday and slept for 2 1/2 hours and then I slept until 9:25 AM this morning. All that tension and worry was exhausting me, too.

I definitely made the right decision to leave last night. Spent the night in Virginia and have a 3 hour ride into the beach today. I think our friends are going to fight the traffic all day. I'm very ready to sit in my beach chair.

I slept 11 hours last night! Surprised I didn't wake up with a migraine, that's what usually happens if I oversleep. Still in my pajamas. Even did chores and relocated the 6 sparrows I found in the trap this morning in my PJs. LOL But, I should take a shower and get dressed. We have a fish fry to go to tonight at the neighbors, so I might make a run to Sam's Club to get something to bring with. Not sure what to bring to a fish fry though. Maybe just beer.

Went out to breakfast this morning. Then to the Farmer's Market. Got gluten free pizza crust, carrots, lettuce, ground beef, coffee beans, and spinach. Back home now to work on my dissertation.
Our upstairs HVAC managed to massively leak. I discovered it when I was walking down the stairs and was dripped on. The problem is we don't go upstairs for several days in a row. DD#2 was up there June 16th - 18th, but she didn't notice it. It flooded the second floor sub floor into the first floor ceiling. It pooled in the first floor ceiling paint layer (I just had it painted last May), and then finally saturated enough to drip through the paint. We had to poke a hole into the paint layer to let several cups of water out. The drying fans from the disaster company have been going since Thursday. They're super duper loud. And of course, the upstairs HVAC is turned off. The fans have to be on through Monday morning. The disaster/salvage people came to check on it all yesterday afternoon. They think the carpet is dry, but both the upstairs subfloor and the main level sub floor are still damp.

Warm, so TD pulled the fans out. He sets them up outside and blows the cooler night air in from the deck, which makes sleeping very comfortable. Only problem is that we have to leave the light blocking shades open, and it’s too bright when the sun rises. I closed them around 5 am and went back to sleep.
Going up to Vancouver this evening to have dinner with TD’s mom. She wants to go to The Keg, but I want dim sum so may make plans to go up later this week…..maybe the 4th? Need to remember the goodies we got her from our trip.
I was looking at our calendar, and July is going to be crazy. I think we have a big something going on every weekend.

Signs of a funky thyroid are really apparent…..if you are familiar with them. Mine has been out of whack since about 2005. But when TD was hauling my ass weekly to Seattle, he was having mega problems that I recognized. I gave him my old script as my meds were adjusted up, to see if they alleviated his problems. They did. At the time, since he was driving so much and I couldn’t spell him, I was afraid he’d fall asleep at the wheel. So next he had to ‘fess up to his doctor about it, which he did. Not really the recommended way of going about it, but when it takes over a month to get into see your doc, then something’s gotta give.

We need to get ready. I've made breakfast and we are going to the Farmers Market today. DD isn't wanting to go, we plan lunch there too.
Honestly I wouldn't get out a lot if it weren't for coming up here. I can just stay home all day even though I get bored but this forces me to get out too, so it's a good thing.
Little guy called his dad today and I asked if he wanted to go home, he said oh no grandma. I want to spend all the time with you I can. That kid knows how to pull your heart strings, LOL!
His mom called last night is he being good? Hubs and I have no problems with him and if I do have any he knows I mean business with my voice tone and that's the end of it.But you know how kids are with their parents. His mom said he has been asking for a month when were we coming up. She said even son is very happy to see us. I'm sure glad, would be awful if he wasn't. I'm very happy up here, I just wish hubs could be, but he was the exact same way when we moved to Houston, took a couple of years for him to accept moving. Very odd man. For me, I like to move and have things new and different, doesn't bother me a bit.
Son said he likes it that we are so close, and I'm thinking not to close is good. We can easily run back and forth in a few minutes and if they go someplace I can take little guy to school and pick him up. It's about 1/2 mile or 3/4's to his school from here. Remember I said if it was meant to be it would work out and it did.
I talked to the park manager and they are going to paint our garage or carport and shed.
My mouth still feels funny, I bought some yogurt and need to start eating some of it, think the drugs wiped out the good bacteria, so need to help reset it. The swelling is better but still not gone, but each day improves.
Ok to get us dressed and ready to go today. Later all.
And yes we were at McD's and DD was ready to go to the car and listen to music. I asked her before if she wants headphones and she said no, just likes to listen when she is in the car. She is an odd little duck.

I dropped several inches of hair and it looks nice again. I may need to find a new hair dresser though as she was making noises about retiring For today I see a BLT for lunch and onion soup with a salad for diner in my future. And maybe a Fresh Market run (Walmart grocery store) to pick up some deodorant for DS1. He can't get his preferred brand in anything but the travel size in Singapore. I still have several weeks before the trip but I don't like last minute shopping, or shopping in general if I am honest. Dsis2 will bring a big chunk of Dutch cheese. This " what can I bring" shopping has been going on since we first left the Netherlands in 1981 when DS1 was a cute 3 2.5yo. (he was even younger than I thought since we moved Jan2 and his birthday is the end of May)
