Replace that stove. No buyer or tenant will want that and it wouldn't be that expensive.

I fell down an internet rabbit hole today, while still answering "on fire" shit. I'll call it balance in the universe for yesterday. anyway! we have this website in MA that blogs about local news stories, the more salacious, the better. and however, if there's a hint of whatever is being reported isn't quite right, he chases it til the bitter end. I don't like the guy that writes it for a lot of reasons, but I will say that the deep dives he takes have yet to be wrong. the case I'm reading now, in Jan 2022, a Boston PD officer was found dead on the front lawn of the house of a <suburb> PD officer's front yard. PD arrested the girlfriend, accusing her of hitting him with her car after she left the house party and drove home, shitfaced. I got added to a FB group a few weeks ago, justice for <deceased and GF> and haven't really paid much attention past the stuff I've seen on the local news. well, yesterday am as I was waking up and scrolling FB, someone in that group posted autopsy pics (nothing gruesome, but clearly not getting hit by a car doing a 3-pt-turn) and I decided to scroll the group. apparently the blog has a 50+ part series on the coverup by the town PD, and there's a pile of evidence placing the deceased inside the house where he was apparently murdered and dumped out in the snowbank where he died of exposure. if anyone's interested in the link, lmk and I'll PM you. I don't live in this town, but it's a *very* townie town in MA. so none of what I'm reading surprises me, and I really hope this GF is straight out exonerated of this, bc it's fucking bullshit. I remember that. IIRC correctly GF left him at a party at another police officers house, where he was beaten up pretty bad and left in the yard to freeze. She came back for him when he didn't come home and that's when they tried to pin it on her, saying she hit him when she left.

I don't know why I packed a swimsuit. Well...I do...my cousin insisted. But there is no way in hell I'm using it! I put it on last night and OMG. I really do look 7 months pregnant. A 7 month pregnant 54 year old. Carrot must have trashed my abdominal muscles completely. You can always get them put back together.

I posted on FB also, and a HS friend started blowing up my PMs - I forgot she's in that town now, as a sports trainer. I can't even imagine working in that snooty town with all this shit, knowing where we grew up (in similar economic circumstances....we weren't KUWTJ)

I picked a few green beans off my plants this morning, that I thought might have been ready (this is my first time growing them), and when I say a few, it was only around 10 lol. I sautéed them just to see what they would taste like. I’ve read that they’re too good to simmer, like I’ve always cooked green beans, so I tried sautéing them. I think I can work with that. This gardening thing might be creating a monster…..

I'm so pissed. I was driving home from the gym and saw a guy beating a dog in a yard down the street from my house. I stopped and called the police. I started screaming at the guy. Other people there were justifying it saying the dog is mean. I told them I'll take it then. I guess the guy hitting it and the people justifying it aren't the owner. I'm standing there having a screaming match and the police basically said if they have time later they'll think about responding.
The owner came home as I'm yelling at people and asked what happened. I told him and he said he just got home and didn't know that was happening but he had planned on rehoming the dog anyway tomorrow until he could get a place to stay. He assured me that he was going to beat on the guy that was hitting the dog because he would never let that happen and that he's telling him to leave. They all went inside and since the police DGAF, I could either stand there all night by myself or leave. I can see the house from my front porch. His truck better be gone shortly or I'm going back there. I hate people so freaking much. The dog barks at him every time he comes over so it's justified. Then rehome the dog or tell him not to come over! Why is that so hard?!

I took one of yesterday and convinced Mister to taste it. He said it was good, then went and spit it out in the garbage lol. He said he spit it out because while it wasn’t nasty, it was very different from what he’s use to. The ones I sautéed today tasted very “green” to me, which was different for me too. But I think I’ll like them if I sauté them properly.

I am glad you are looking out for these dogs, and I hope you start having better success. I would ask how hard is it to stay away from a dog you think is mean? (Generally not that hard at all. )

I will eat them raw especially if they are tender and young, but that's not for everyone. You could also sauté them until fully cooked with bacon and onion and see what Mister thinks then. He isn't a canned green beans kind of guy, is he?

Yeah, fresh green beans can be tricky around here. While I like them very close to green and super crunchy the other folks in my house don't. I usually start them sautéing in a little butter or olive oil. Once that's going I add some water. Once the water boils off I let them sauté in the oil or butter that remains behind for a couple more minutes. It makes them more done that just a quick sauté, but I can still avoid having boiled or steamed mush. The only other way I can mage to get DH and Kiddo to eat fresh green beans is by roasting them. And there are just some days where I'm just not in the mood to deal with the oven.
Now, if I'm doing green beans with bacon and onions that is different. But, I'm way down south so smothering any vegetable in bacon and onions is fair game.

I’m from the south too, so I wholeheartedly agree with you about smothering vegetables in bacon and onion.

I wear swim shorts and tankini tops. It's fine. I have one top that shows off the girls, but not my lumpectomy scar. Eliminate the need for folks to look at my belly. ETA: It's not appropriate for cub scout camp. Learned the hard way on that one.
Fine for adult hot tubs.
Same! I have a little cellulite on my upper thighs that I cover with boyshorts. Then I wear a tankini or bikini top. I try and get the shorts high waisted so you can't see my scar.

Luckily, I grew up with frozen or fresh as my mom grew up on a farm. If you are used to canned green beans, yes stop short of that and make sure they stay green and not veer into yellow green. You can boil them, but they do lose some of their goodness into the cooking water. You want to stop when they are fork tender enough for you. Hopefully over time fork tender will mean more like a good restaurant would make them and less like commercial canned green beans. I do not like most canned veggies. Corn and potatoes are the ones that I will eat and don't make me regret not having them fresh or frozen.

Are you guys kidding? Last minute clothes shopping? ME?!? It's like you don't even know me at all! and with that I am packing up and heading out. Came in at 6:30 to sneak out an hour early.
Order it curbside. You can always take it back when you get home if you don't like it.

Kiddo is officially 7 now. She seems to thin it is not only great fun but she is taking it somewhat serious. She seems to start a lot of sentences with "now that I'm seve years old..."
Our trip to the beach was a comedy of errors combined with overly emotional bad travelers. Apparently we do not travel well together as a family unit. Oh well. One of those live and learn things I guess. Kiddo still had a great time according to her. I guess I don't have to divert her college fund to therapy.....at least for now.
DH was scheduled off on Monday and Tuesday which meant he only had to have one call in absence for Wednesday. While I still have no idea what the discipline policy is, I know one call in isn't enough to escalate to termination. It does mean he was back at work today though. And will work everyday thru at least Sunday. Which just kind of sucks so wtf ever.
Surprisingly I have done a fabulous job of not working. So fabulous in fact that my boss had to text me on my personal cell late this afternoon. It was not a disruption to my day (Kiddo and I may or may not have been having ice cream for an afternoon snack while DH was at work) and it was an easy question that I know the answer to, it does just reinforce the fact that our current setup where I'm the only one that knows my specialty isn't really sustainable. Sure it gives me job security, but it also contributes to burn out. I need to start taking more time off. A random day when DH is off or a long weekend here and there. My boss will have zero issues with that, I just need to simply do it.
Tomorrow Kiddo and I will run errands to finish our Father's Day stuff. Then my sibling will come Saturday morning and stay the weekend for Kiddo's birthday part 2. If the weather cooperates I need to sneak in some yard work and/or gardening chores too.

Booked tickets for a 5 day trip after 4th of July and another for a 4 day trip in August- surprisingly both were cheap enough that we may splurge on the hotels.

I'm cooking for T2 also. I went with a goulash of sorts. Potatoes, smoked sausage (takes no time at all to thaw in the microwave) onions, and green peppers.

finally in bed, after pup last outs. somewhat troubled by some flying bugs that followed us in tonight. 😕 I do have a blacklight bug zapper thingy on my kitchen counter that will hopefully take care of most of these uninvited guests. how TF is it almost 11pm, though? ugh. sleep well, kids!

Replace that stove. No buyer or tenant will want that and it wouldn't be that expensive. Agree. Just throw that nasty old stove in the dumpster.
