Anyone got any tips on how to be frosty to someone at work without creating a hostile work environment? Like totally distant. Person works on a different team, but do need to rarely speak work-related. It's been a day.

That seems to get my message across, but I have had decades of practice and a genetic predisposition to mildly annoyed resting face.

Seniors at the school my own kids graduated from did the school "For Sale" prank. It was the Dark Ages so they gathered a few dozen realtors' signs and posted them in front. The headmaster thought it was funny--creative as swamp put it--but the realtors did not. They had to figure out where their signs were taken from and drive around and replace them. The kids had no idea. On a different note, I am so tired of wrapping and packing china and crystal. And I sold the Christmas stuff last year in anticipation of wanting to move and my blue-and-white collection a few days ago. And I haven't even gotten to the everyday Corelle, which I sold most of the completer pieces to a few months ago. Still, I have 16 plates and who knows how many bowls. Lol. This isn't a First World problem. It is an addiction.

I am home from the Alaskan cruise. Wonderful scenery, I felt like I was in a movie. This was our first cruise on Norwegian, we had been on Royal Caribbean and Holland America in the past. Our trip went as planned, only had an hour delay due to a thunderstorm coming home.
We saw whales, seals, eagles and a bear! The glaciers were outstanding! It was so nice to get away for a real vacation. I believe that was my new year's resolution.
We took the stairs and walked quite a bit. My ankles were sore the first few days at home and then I remembered the pitch of the gangway at low tide. Close as I come to climbing!
This cruise ship had 4800 passengers on board. I would not choose to sail one that big again. It was a beautiful, new ship. Just too many people for me.

Well my urine sample today didn’t show any of the normal signs of a UTI, but there is still microscopic amounts of blood in my urine. She said either of the antibiotics I took should’ve cleared up the infection anyway, and especially since I took both. So she’s sending the sample to a lab, and prescribed Cipro in the meantime. When the NP I went to at first got the results from the urine sample I gave then, she called and said the antibiotic she’d given me should work for bacteria that was present. So if it’s not still an infection, what’s cause the symptoms now, and why is there still blood in my urine? I’m scared and I cried all the way home and still keep crying off and on. Before I saw the Doctor, I asked the nurse how much I weighed the last time I was there so I could compare it to what I weighed on their scale today. The last time I was there was in March, and I’ve lost 20lbs since then. Last week when I realized how much weight I’ve lost, I assumed it was because I haven’t been eating much, if at all, because of my stomach issues. Now I’m worried that that’s not the real or only reason. My nerves are SO bad right now. As miserable as I’ve been with my gut issues, even that didn’t have me scared like I am right now. I may be speaking out of line here, but IME, my body lags in symptom response as things clear my system from antibiotic treatment. that's what this sounds like. you've had a couple different antibiotics working on it, but you're still seeing some symptoms. not an easy thing to suggest, but try to ride it out a little longer before you call the Dr again. are you still in pain at all? if so, ignore the wait suggestion. if you're not in pain anymore, I'd give it another day to see if the blood goes away. the reason I say this - antibiotics are a weird class of meds. you can take some as an incomplete prescription and develop an allergy/adverse reaction (when you do this repeatedly) or you can chronically overdose and render them ineffective. either way, sending gentle hugs. I wouldn’t exactly call it pain, it’s just very, very uncomfortable. Similar to how you feel pressure sometimes when you’ve waited too long to urinate, but worse. I stopped seeing the blood a day or 2 after I started taking the first antibiotics. She saw it today in the urine sample, I guess under a microscope or whatever they use. It’s not visible to the naked eye, so I wouldn’t know on my own if it goes away. I had no idea it was still present in my urine until sShe told me today. Thanks for the hugs.

After the great day I had yesterday, guess what happened last night. Back and forth to the bathroom because I’m feeling that pressure again. I swear! It’s not as bad as it was last Friday, but it’s still pretty uncomfortable. I called my PCP, and thank God she had an opening this afternoon. So my stomach starts to improve, and now I have the UTI from hell. Fuck me. Anyway, yesterday I ran out of charcoal when the pork butt still needed to cook for a couple more hours, so I finished it in the oven. By the time it was done, around 8:30, I was over it and ready to go to bed, so I told Mister it was going to have to be dinner for today because I wasn’t cooking the sides. I gave him the sacrificial smoke sausage I’d put on the grill to eat for dinner. Don’t fuss, but I didn’t eat anything. I just went to bed, I was pooped. When we unwrapped it, Mister said he felt like Boy must feel when Mister is fixing his food lol. He’d already tasted it and wanted to dig in. So I decided to see if I could shred the edges and just leave the middle to slice today. Man, the edges practically fell apart, it was so tender and juicy. Mister was nibbling as I was pulling it. He ranted and raved about how tender and delicious it was. I dipped a couple small pieces in the sauce I’d made. The sauce had calmed down, and Mister raved over it too. The funny thing was, I couldn’t taste any of the seasoning he was raving about, or even the sauce. I told him my taste buds must have rebelled after I set them on fire trying to make that sauce that had my nose running like a faucet for a while. So I had to just take his word for it that it tasted very good. Mister talked about that pork until we went to sleep lol. He said he couldn’t wait to get off work today to have dinner. I’m pretty proud of myself since it came out so tender and he liked it so much, especially since it was my first time cooking one, ever. I learned a lot about what to do next time to make things go smoother and possibly make it taste even better, even though Mister says “better” is impossible. Can you not taste the sauce or not taste anything. If you can't taste anything please test for COVID. I couldn’t taste the sauce or the seasoning on the meat. I can taste things just fine today. ETA: I just Googled it and spicy food can temporarily numb your tongue and then you can’t taste anything. I figured last night that was what might have happened since that sauce set my mouth on fire the first time I tasted it, and Google says it’s possible.

I almost cried when we had to disembark the Eurodam.

When I walked to the mailbox to get my mail, I glanced down the street, and roughly 2 city blocks away it looked like a lot of white smoke, like a neighbor was burning something. Except they weren't. Sorry. The first day after work I thought the school was having a massive barbeque as it looked like that too. How close are you to where the Canadian wildfires are burning? I found out this evening that our state has it's first wildfire, but that's aways north of us. The air flow from Canada is bringing most of the smoke here. I went outside this evening with one of the dogs for a moment, and it literally smells like burning wood outside.

Hi everyone! Today was the last day of school for students. Tomorrow is the last day for teachers. The secretaries have another week. I work through June 30. I don't work the month of July and the first nine days of August. It was a tough school year. I cried a lot. I've put on 20 pounds. I got behind on my dissertation. But, we all survived. I am still working on my dissertation. I hope to have a full rough draft turned in to my advisor by the end of Sunday.
DD#1 finished her master's degree at the end of May. She and her husband closed on a starter home last Wednesday. She's a big kid now!
DD#2 is job hunting. She enacted a very mature plan. She saved enough money to pay her bills through the end of August. She loves the work and program of the non-profit she's been working at for a year. However, she despised the work environment. Now, she's has GAD and can be quite rigid and have narrow focus. She's not good at "social pleasantries". I'm not sure how toxic the work environment actually is as I only have her perspective. However, her mental health was not going to survive continuing to work there. She gave notice at her job and her last day is this Friday. I'm really quite proud of her for sticking it out as long as she did and having a financially sustainable exit plan. She's only 21.
DS#2 (He's the one who married the alcoholic and I had to pay for the divorce) has started dating again. We've met one girl now, and they've decided to be somewhat serious.
DS#2 (who has Miss Grandbaby now 5yo) I don't think has any major updates.
DH turned 60 yesterday. He's getting closer and closer to deciding to retire. He can retire at any point; he just isn't mentally ready to do so yet. I'll post more about that in the politics board.

I live on the west coast, and that's how we spend almost every summer.

I avoid eye contact if I'm actually annoyed and want them to at least feel uncomfortable.

My 83 yo Dad tested positive for Covid, he went to ER and they are sending him home. Urgent care sent him to ER because he is already on antivirals for shingles, plus he is on maintenance chemo for lymphoma. Based on timing he likely got it from going to the playoff hockey game Saturday night.
My mom has a lot to deal with. She also has my DD and her husband a 2 kids staying with them for 3 weeks until their house is ready. DD was diagnosed with flu 2 days ago. And my DS is also there for a weeklong visit with his wife and kid and now DS is sick. Hoping they all get better soon.

For those with automatic transmission vehicles. T2 called me because her car wouldn't start and she was stranded at the gas station. She had just gotten gas. The lights came on and windshield wipers she accidentally hit started going, so it's not the battery. I didn't hear any clicking when she tried, so I thought it was the alternator and was gonna tow it. Then I noticed it was in neutral so I put it in park and it started right up. Can you not start an automatic car while it's in neutral? I can on any manual transmission I've had, but never tried in an automatic.

I know more than one person who lost their sense of taste for a long time after getting thru Covid. I don't think she's had COVID yet though, so it couldn't be long COVID.

And the fireworks have started. I haven't even seen any fireworks stands yet. Maybe someone has leftover ones from last year.

Pink- I had a uti that would not clear up. I would feel a little better but just not back to normal after each round of antibiotics. I had blood in my urine and after 3 rounds of antibiotics my dr sent me to a urologist. I had some test and a cystoscope and found out I had bladder cancer. They went in and removed it and I have been fine since. I wanted to let you know not to scare you but to be aware that if the blood does not go away please go see a urologist and have it checked.

I just sent off my PowerPoint slides to the team leader in Dublin so he has them for the am to chat with his local boss before I sign on, and came to set up the sleep timer on my tv for The Town (Id been streaming for background noise from my phone), which I can watch or fall asleep to any day of the week. well, I stretched out on my bed and laid my head on LD's super comfy stuffed lobster tail, and I realized that The Accountant is on the same channel right after The Town. so I'm setting the sleep timer for whatever the max is haha. and the storm has finally passed, so I don't need to give LD a lobotomy tonight. 🙄

I had a moment once too when I tried that, was wondering how much that was going to cost to fix. DH came back out and laughed. Put it in park and it started right up.

Not sure about neutral, but I know if an automatic is not "locked" into a position it will not start.

Also if you put it in neutral and try to turn it off it won't and the key stays in the ignition. Done that more times than I care to admit. Fortunately it's always been just me in the car so nobody else sees how pissed I get till I see the N is green instead of the P.😖
