So I read MPL's post where she mentions not having started packing yet for a trip that starts next Thursday. I have seen similar posts before and now I am curious: how long in advance do you all pack for a vacation (sorry mich your world cruise does not count here since a trip that long does take some serious planning). I will fess up to thinking I feel very well prepared, and overdoing it, if I start packing more than 24 hours before leaving. I also do not use a packing list. I just throw everything in my suitcase, stand in front of it and mentally dress myself to make sure it is all in there. Takes about 5 minutes after packing. Well, I work and Carrot has a bunch of stuff in the evenings, plus I have lots of other things to line up with the animals before I go, so packing M-W is out and we are leaving right after work on Thursday. I will feel MUCH better if all the bags are by the door and documents all printed out and ready to go ahead of time. It's also a little tricky packing for Alaska. It could be shorts weather or winter coats and hats...probably some of both...and we're only taking carry ons so have to be efficient to get a weeks worth of clothes in there. We're going straight from the airport to the ship so not a lot of shopping opportunities if we realize something is missing.
When we road trip I pack well ahead of time because we take everything! A couple coolers full of food and drinks, the telescope, camping equipment, car entertainment, full first aid kit with meds, lotions, sunscreen, bug spray...we're ready for everything! LOL
Now I'm thinking I should pack an extra pair of glasses too. If something happens to mine I'm blind.

I got on the scale after my shower tonight, and I’ve lost 12lbs in 3 weeks. 7lbs since I weighed myself last week. I’d already lost about 10lbs, when I weighed myself 3 weeks ago, but idk when. I had gained too much weight over the last few years, but this isn’t how I would’ve chosen to lose some. I am now back down to about what I weighed when we first moved here. I know I haven't said much, but this is really worrisome. Please mention this to health care types.

DS5 is home safely from the prom, had a good time. Sadly just learned the mom who arranged the limo (really a bus) just lost her husband 2 days ago! He was working as an inspector on Thruway repairs and got backed over by a truck, just 45 yo. So sad.

I forgot to answer taz157’s question earlier and say that yes I did get the AZO last week. I only took it once last week. I took it again last night. It doesn’t seem to help me much. Thank you, I hope so too.

so much for working on my resume, I dozed off after dinner. <img text=" " alt=" " src="https://i239.photobucket.com/albums/ff155/JiminiChristmas/ymamsmiles/yeahright.png"> I just woke up about 20min ago, and my generator is still chugging. I had texts from both Eversource and the one neighbor without a generator, asking if I had power. nope....and the Eversource text tells me that's because there was a car accident. no details past that, or an ETA. so we did last outs and I got ready for bed - which will be downstairs tonight. Hope you sleep well and have your power back on when you wake up.

I’ve always eaten a LOT, and it started catching up with me several years ago, after having been slim my whole life even though I ate a lot. But now, sometimes the thought of eating makes me anxious or something, because of the potential consequences. Today I ate most of an orange, that’s it. Mister ordered pizza this evening. I’m not even tempted to eat any, and I really like good pizza. I have an appetite, I’m just scared to eat.

Well so far I have ONE photo of my great grandma Ruby. She's really old I think it wasn't that long before she died.
Dad said he still wants to get out to NC and will try to get me younger photos.
I have yet another photo of an old store. Somewhere between 1910 and 1920 based on the first photo I found.
I'm peeved because there is no information on any of them! To find multiple photos someone in them must be relevant.
Grandma couldn't tell me they are old enough either she doesn't remember or nobody told her.
No sign or anything that could give a location.
Grr.
Then my dad also has an Uncle Ray in his family tree. Was everyone named Ray at some point?
According to my mom her Uncle Ray was a bigamist. I joked with dad wouldn't it be funny if his second family was my dad's relative?
Maybe I don't want to do 23 & Me.🤔

This is one of the reasons why I do. Some day I may not remember, or won't be around and others won't have a clue. Then what use is it? Hey, I have an Uncle Ray. Maybe we're related! Bwahaha... Just kidding. I don't have an Uncle Ray. I hope you're able to get some answers.

DD said she had a good day. We went out to a barbecue place and had lunch, well lunch and dinner actually. On the way home I let her go to DQ as a treat, she liked that.
I got my kitty litter 3 bags, 35 pounds each. Menards is the only place I can find the Fresh Step that really keeps all the odor down. I was using some cheap stuff but it made a lot of dust, so some months ago changed to this, I really like it. Well Walmart has it but but almost $10 for about a third of the amount so this is a better deal but its not cheap either. I sure wouldn't have gotten more pets if I had known inflation was going nuts. But we have them and will take good care of them. I'm also stocking up food they like so hubs has what he needs to feed them and not trying to find something they will eat. I have a variety of their favorites both wet and dry.
I took the sheets back to Pennys and she could not find where I ordered them. I had pitched the invoice and they were on sale so likely a different sticker or something. I told her well, I will just learn to love the color. LOL! That's why I was returning them. I bought 2 pair of earrings, one in yellow, one in red, they were on sale. Found DD a navy blue skort for July 4th, we have matching tops and me a pair of red shorts.
I have worn 2 of the blouses I made the last couple of trips and had complements on both. When I said I made them the people didn't seem to understand that. The second lady I just said I started sewing again. Honestly, I don't think they believed me, LOL! But I guess its so unusual to see people sew anymore its just weird to them. One is a hotter color of pink with white swirl lines in it, came out really pretty. The other was white background with lavender flowers on it. I noticed today most people seem to have on dark colors or maybe that was just today. I love color.
I was going to get a cantaloupe but none were ripe enough so didn't. And the watermelons were big ones and I want the little small ones.
I didn't get much stuff, some little oranges, onions, orange juice, hubs some yogurt and bananas.
Got my car cleaned out and ran through carwash. Vacuumed the garage out so it looks better and brought the trash up from the basement. Need to it tomorrow.
Hubs finally called his phone was out of minutes, I says why don't you do autopay, he said he does. Humm, I need to check that out as he has been doing this. He went all over trying to find a card to load minutes. I told him I was worried, I said anymore you never know, someone could have shot him and stole his truck or anything, he said that's true. Never heard him admit things like that before. So he is ok, a huge relief. But he said he left at the wrong time. He went to the kids house so he could say bye to little guy before he went to school, so changed his time. He usually leaves in the middle of the night.
I bought some tamales and will fix for dinner when he comes in. I am going to really miss him being gone for 2 months. Wish we could do things different. I think he will be home tomorrow night sometime.

We almost had a "cat" catastrophe tonight.
When I got home it was like after 8 and I unloaded the car so got to be 8:30, the cats ran out when we opened the door. Way to late even though its daylight but the varmints start coming out and I don't want them getting in fights with coons and other animals, they will lose. Next time I will shut them out by closing the inner laundry room door.
I started calling them, Tigger ran in first, normally Smoke does. I looked out the back door and there was a small skunk, probably a baby running across the yard and Smoke was right after him. He was hanging back a few foot, at least. But OH MY GOD! I'm yelling he is ignoring me I start after him just have on light weight new socks and no shoes on. But he is pretty much staying by the pipe that empties the sump pump way out in the yard. I'm thinking the skunk is young enough it, it didn't spray and kept moving and I think went into the pipe. Couldn't tell as there are some weeds there.
So I'm calling hoping he doesn't take off running as that's far as I go, its woods after that, and sure don't want to run into mom. I get out there and he is looking in the pipe, I pick him up and start for the house. Thankfully he does not mind leaving or me carrying him. I'm kissing him and he is very docile so we made it, my poor feet were killing me though.
If he had been after an adult skunk the outcome would have likely been very bad, I'm going to make sure they are not able to get out after about 7 from now on. But if he ever got sprayed bet he would never go near another skunk again. But I'm thinking he would have had to stay on the porch till I could get him to the vet tomorrow and get him sedated for baths. I sure got lucky, actually we both got lucky.

We will never be able to buy a house in sons neighborhood. I just saw a new one has been built just down the street from his. 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, about the same sq ft and on 1.5 acres. $725,000, damn.
But at least his will hold value and gain. So any fixing he wants to do will pay off.

Quantarium not sure what these 2 valuations are $616,895
CoreLogic estimate of value now, unbelievable! $721,802

I've never used it, but they claim it's safe for humans and pets and can be used to get rid of skunk smells, as well as other stinky smells. My daughter bought some, but I keep forgetting to ask her what she thinks about it. It has good reviews on Amazon.

What I do is I stack everything I want to take on the bed and mentally go through the day. Then it all get crammed into my suitcase. 90% of what I took on the WC was what I wore at home regularly. I had new underwear, bras and socks…..only because I was not sure how much longer my old ones would last. For the most part, I packed well for the WC but I really did need some more colder weather clothes. These last few weeks it has been a challenge to dress and today we are going out whale watching and I’m in lightweight pants. I never expected them to close the laundry room.

We pack for trips the day or night before, but I usually spend the days leading up to it making sure that all laundry is washed, dried and put away. For toiletries we usually grab new from the linen closet.
DH is always worried when we are leaving that we forgot something. I am the one reminding him that we can buy whatever we forgot. The only meds we take daily are OTC.

I don't have circular needles small enough for mittens. I loathe double pointed needles.
I think that should be my epitaph. "Here lies Gira, who loathed double pointed needles." Screw the loving wife and mom part, I tell you. It's all about the knitting needles.

We're packing morning of right now. But, It's DD1 and myself. When there's 6 of us, we start packing 3-4 days ahead of time. Because I need to oversee.
Nothing like taking a 2.5 week vacation, and then learning that your son has no shorts that fit almost a week into the trip. In French speaking Canada,. When the last time you had French was like 20 years ago. We managed to get him some shorts with my broken french and lots of miming. If I only experience that once in my life, I won't complain.

But I'm starting to get down the wormhole to before they were born some are before my great grandparents. I can get these are old enough they were likely just passed down perhaps with an oral story or two and nobody noticed nothing was written down till I came along and dug them out. I'm going to put it on the wall with the other two. DH doesn't get it since according to him I don't know these people. Which is true but I still find them a cool bit of history that deserves display after years in a box. I have a photo of the Uncle Ray on my mom's side up too. He owned a bakery in Chicago. She was very proud of tracking that information down. Of course I'm going to display it. It's cool.

And speaking of old people I got all of grandma's carnival and white glass to the consignor yesterday.
90 days to sell. Dad and I agreed whatever doesn't by that point we'll just donate.
They will take care of pricing because I said I have no clue. I said you can price it all for 99 cents for all I care my main driver isn't profit I just want to see some of it go to people who will enjoy it and get it out of my sun room.

Well, today is going to be brutal. Someone posted on Nextdoor that nobody in town has good burritos or tacos. I live in New Mexico. The gas station has good burritos and tacos. Sparks are already flying.

I can't work on short circular needles, there's not enough for my hands to wrap around and still get the points together to work. Don't mind DPN once the work is established, but starting out they keep falling out or twisting. I'm intrigued by the idea of using a big circular needle to work 2 socks at the same time, but haven't tried it yet. Sounds kinda pesty having to slide the work back and forth - that's part of what I hate about working on bigger projects on circulars - having to constantly push the work along back on the curved part. Working one short DPN at a time, it's work the needle and done, move on to next.

Thinking about getting up and getting myself together. We're going to pride today. I got my mom hugs shirt in the mail and I'm going super colorful with the makeup. I'll try and remember to take pictures.

I haven't brought an actual card to Sam's Club for years. Ever since they went to Scan and Go all I bring is my phone. Which might be another option for anciana. Does Costco have an app that displays the membership? Easy to share an app login. You don't have to show your card, as you go into the store? Or do you shop online and then just pick up? Both Sam's and Costco's here, make you show your card to go inside. DD1 and I have shared a membership to both places, for years. Although she's listed as the primary card holder. I didn't even list her address, when I applied for my card. No one has ever questioned it. I would think that if your son had a picture of your card to show them, when/if he makes a return, that should work. But I don't think he could shop in the store with just a picture. I would just call on the phone and ask. Here Costco does that which is why I don't have a membership. I have to use my card to check out, why should I also have to show it at the door? Sam's doesn't do that here. I order curbside 99% of the time anyway. I just show my DL if there is alcohol in my order.

today's gonna be expensive, I think. I paid for most of the hardware already, but mooch is finally up to install the outdoor shower and electric water heater. I am waiting on a coffee order on my way back from a home depot run that was ~$100 and I know it won't be the last run there today.

One of my grandpa's sisters was married to a guy named Ray. Apparently it was a very common name in those days.
My brother claims all good projects require 3 trips to Lowe's/Home Depot. He replaced all of our yucky beige outlets and covers in 2 trips. I found out later by chance that required a permit. The county is insane, I'm not pulling a permit to swap existing outlets. My brother is a licensed electrician. I trust him 1000% more than some person I don't know.
