McDonald's is using The Safety Dance to sell hamburgers. Some kids are hearing it for the first time and digging it! Such a happy little song!

I wish it were that simple. They denied DH's vacation for the week. Not real clear what our plan of action is, but, that's a problem I don't have to deal with until Monday. I'm sorry. I hope you can come up with a solution that both you and DH can live with. Thanks. You are very kind and thoughtful to send such a caring sentiment to one of the imaginary people that live in your computer. I truly do appreciate it. The reality is, my DH will not be at work for 3 days because Kiddo's birthday trip is booked. And has been booked since February. And she is our only child. So that is that. DH and I are both in agreement on that. What is not clear yet is what days DH will be scheduled off. Which means I have no idea how many days he will be calling in with unexcused absences. I also have no idea what the discipline policy is for call ins. And that is also why this is a problem to worry about on Monday. At this point idgaf. I have a soon to be 7 year old that is kicking her birthday week off. I don't have the time or inclination to worry about consequences I can't change.

I'm getting ready to hang it up for a while. DD1 and I are going on our weekend. I am exhausted. And it will be so nice to be away from folks asking something from me every 34.656 seconds. This self-care isn't working.

Well, what I forgot to say was that one of her friends called Brother the next morning and said she’d taken Aunt home from the hospital. She left the hospital either later that night or the next morning, against medical advice. The friend really called Brother because she was upset that Aunt peed on herself in the friend’s car. I guess she wanted Brother or Mister to pay to have her car cleaned. Not happening. Then this morning the next door neighbor called Brother, saying she wasn’t answering the phone or door again and they’d called the fire department. Brother is on his way over there again, since Mister is at work. If she keeps leaving against medical advice, how can Mister and his brother force the hospital’s hand on this? If she’s fallen again, this will be the third time in less than a month. Mister is SO disgusted with both her and his Dad. If the fire department keeps being called the state will step in here soon. While it may feel bad the best thing Mister and his brother can do is refuse to engage. Let her be taken by the fire department each time. Mister and Brother may be blood relatives BUT they aren't her kids. Unless she signed something making them responsible as her nephews they have no legal obligations to her. The hospital and other entities will argue hoping to make her their problem but they need to push back. My dad is GUs only blood relative outside my grandma. Extensive talks with legal people have established he cannot be held liable for him. Nephew is not a close enough relationship. His dad is another matter. Focus needs to be there because they are next of kin so the battle is much harder but the same applies they cannot force families into taking relatives no matter how much Saber rattling they do. Make them do it. It's true. Back in the early 90's I was in a car accident. Bent my steering wheel and my head took out my windshield (had a seat belt on and wasn't going very fast). Going by my injuries and behavior, they didn't expect me to make it to the hospital, less than a mile away. Once I was there ( shock trauma ), they could tell something was wrong with me, but they couldn't figure out what, or what to do about it. I was about 40yrs old and my forehead (skin) was missing. I was speaking, but not real words and I kept losing consciousness. They tried to get my parents to take me home with them. My parents refused. So the hospital put me in shock trauma ICU. When I regained consciousness, I had amnesia. No idea who I was, or anything about my life. When I woke up 2 days later, my memory was back and I was well enough to go home to my apt. I was back at work within a week, with no forehead, but I was okay. I don't know what my parents would have done with me, in the state I was in. At least the hospital had an IV and monitors hooked up to me and they cleaned the glass out of my wounds, before I went home. It's not a lack of caring. It's a lack of ability, knowledge and taking financial responsibility, for an adult.

Came on here to whine about adulting being hard and saw Pink’s updates so Imma just stay quiet and wish her all the hugs. That is some next-level family drama there even without ongoing major health issues Sometimes adulting totally sucks rocks! I'm sorry things aren't going well for you.

So I read MPL's post where she mentions not having started packing yet for a trip that starts next Thursday. I have seen similar posts before and now I am curious: how long in advance do you all pack for a vacation (sorry mich your world cruise does not count here since a trip that long does take some serious planning).
I will fess up to thinking I feel very well prepared, and probably overdoing it, if I start packing more than 24 hours before leaving. I also do not use a packing list. I just throw everything in my suitcase, stand in front of it and mentally dress myself to make sure it is all in there. Takes about 5 minutes after packing.

But I do usually make a list, just to be sure things are ready and can be packed.

And, possibly because I don't stress over it I never seem to forget anything. Of course it could also be because I have travelled quite a bit over the years but either way: if needed I can always go buy what I need - or do without. I would be good at that too if needed

Oy. I'm glad you remained in the shock trauma ICU, I shudder to think what would have happened otherwise.

I'm tired. Wanted to open up a clementine but the peel isn't cooperating. Decided to make it an experiment for Moon Shadow. He grabbed it and started eating through the outer peel. I will pull the mess if he looks too sugar high later.
Skinny pig loves his fresh food whether it is some good radish leaves (from a bunch I got at the Spanish grocery) romaine lettuce or apparently an entire clementine. I have a feeling it won't last until morning.

LOL Any new news about your car? I sure wish they'd at least be helpful to you.

DH wanted to go to Whataburger for a taquito and I agreed. I've cleaned the toilets, mopped the floors, and have a second load in the washer. He's packing now and I'll pack later. I got a text from the tour guide on exactly where to meet tomorrow - this lady is so on top of the travel game it's amazing. I'm going to make sure to sign her praises to the right person when we get back. In a few minutes DH and I will sit down and organize our luggage tags, wrist bands and lanyards I always feel like a kindergarten kid when I'm wearing all that stuff but leading a group tour is like herding cats so I'm happy to be a clearly identified cat. On our last European trip, the guides made us carry little colored flags; that way they could see if they had all of their group and no strays from another guide. Our flags also matched the color banner on our tour bus but, of course, some folks still got on the wrong bus As soon as we get off a tour bus, I take pics of the bus (including the number) and of the driver. It's hard to remember them all. Sometimes there are 15 or 20 buses waiting to pick folks up.

When I was younger, I used to have my suitcases packed a week before - since I would always need to work a zillion hours before I left.

Make them do it. I know they have no legal obligations or financial responsibilities for her, and neither of them are signing anything taking responsibility for her. I only mentioned them being her closest blood relatives in response to the question about a family member speaking with the social worker at the hospital. And she’s not coming to live with us. She wouldn’t want to anyway, because she doesn’t like people in her business, until she really needs something. Brother found what hospital she’s in and went there. She’s been telling the hospital folks that her hips are hurting and they are treating her for infection. Brother wanted to talk to the Doctor, he wasn’t available, so a nurse practitioner came to the room to talk to him. She was talking about Aunt’s hips and Brother asked about her leg. The NP was confused and asked what about it. Brother pulled the cover back so she could see Aunt’s leg, which is grossly swollen with blisters on it. Aunt got mad at Brother and started wailing “Why did you show her that”. The NP was shocked. She’d been keeping it covered so they wouldn’t see it. This must be the Twilight Zone or something. I can’t make any of this shit make sense. Wait a minute. Noone at the hospital bothered to do a history & physical, including an exam, when she was admitted? Or at least an update if she was admitted to the same hospital within 30 days? And what about the nurses? Didn't they do an assessment?

I have a couple saved packing lists I look at. One for Florida and one for beach trips. Long weekends I get by. My brain just does not work like others (ADD possibly?) I have forgotten everything possible and things that were very difficult to replace like oh say the whole thing of my daily prescription medicines.
DH can pull a stack of shorts and a stack of shirts and he's done. Men have never had to worry about matching the right underwear or bra with the right top/bottom so nothing shows.
Most of the big misses have been with DH and I think he's finally learned to just quit rushing me. We do not need to arrive to the airport 3 hours early.
I would do it early but it all gets packed up Tetris style and I'm usually still using my toiletries. And there's no good place to put it out of the way so I'm not tripping over it.
My brother's cardinal packing rule is to make sure you have everything that isn't easily replaced at Walmart. I, however, have multiple times managed to get things packed up but not get all the bags into the car. The toiletry bag has been left several times.

LOL Any new news about your car? I sure wish they'd at least be helpful to you. I don't give him baths often. He cleans himself kind of like a cat, except he can't reach as far as he'd like. He comes awful close though, he's almost fallen over sometimes trying to get to a certain spot. Hope to work on pushing the car stuff Sunday into Tuesday. I think my case manager is on vacay until the 21st. I plan to use that time to get to someone else and do my best to make them cough up a cheap rental car until the decision comes down/check whatever. She has all the pieces even if they aren't pretty. I will pretty up the last piece if I am able on Sunday. Tomorrow I have to take my tired sore body to the bus stops again for work. Oh just missed the bus this morning as it unexpectedly came early. So I had to take a different one, which is in crappier shape and set up differently. Later I will tell the story of how the bus driver accused me of trying to kill him with three quarters because I forgot this one did not take your money or tickets, there is this bowl thingy you have to know is there. I just want to understand though how he could accuse me of trying to kill him when I smashed my hand kinda sorta into the plexiglas trying to hand over my quarters and then had to pick them up off the nasty bus floor and put them in the bowl thing so I could get to work. If I could kill someone by throwing three quarters into a plexiglas shield our military needs to find me and pay me big money.

It is far easier to be a man and pack for many reasons including the underwear thing. I keep lists for certain trips, so I remember to pack the right stuff. None of them are really current and I saved mine I made for mom's memorial service in case I needed to do something similar for my old neighbor or my dad in the near future.

But the NP was involved in her care and treatment plan or whatever, and she was unaware that there was a problem with her leg, and according to Brother was shocked when she saw it. idk what hospital she went to last week, but the hospital she went to last night was not the same one she usually goes to. But it’s a part of the same hospital system.

I got on the scale after my shower tonight, and I’ve lost 12lbs in 3 weeks. 7lbs since I weighed myself last week. I’d already lost about 10lbs, when I weighed myself 3 weeks ago, but idk when. I had gained too much weight over the last few years, but this isn’t how I would’ve chosen to lose some.
I am now back down to about what I weighed when we first moved here.

I'm getting ready to hang it up for a while. DD1 and I are going on our weekend. I am exhausted. And it will be so nice to be away from folks asking something from me every 34.656 seconds. This self-care isn't working.
Hope you can get some rest this weekend. And then have lots of fun.

so much for working on my resume, I dozed off after dinner. <img text=" " alt=" " src="https://i239.photobucket.com/albums/ff155/JiminiChristmas/ymamsmiles/yeahright.png"> I just woke up about 20min ago, and my generator is still chugging. I had texts from both Eversource and the one neighbor without a generator, asking if I had power. nope....and the Eversource text tells me that's because there was a car accident. no details past that, or an ETA. so we did last outs and I got ready for bed - which will be downstairs tonight.

The prom is tonight, and everything is discombobulated and unknown. The school was trying to be super organized/controlling - had to get a prom packet and sign away your life about who is going with whom, who is driving, if a limo what company, etc. Only after you turned that in (weeks ago) could you buy tickets. Well, the kids keep last-minute changing plans. Somebody's mom hired a limo - are you included in the group? IDK. The girls are meeting up at T's grandparents' cottage on the lake. Where's that? IDK. What time is the prom over, so we can pick you up (assuming not in the limo)? IDK. Any paperwork? All had to be turned in. Where's your ticket? I can't find it, had it this morning at the senior video. School website has ZERO info about the prom. Googled the venue - presence FB only, no posts at all; website is a black page, under construction. Got the address for the cottage, DH drove DS5 up. Nobody there knows much, either. T's mom was just as out of the loop as we are. Asked him to call us with more info. Called once saying it ended at 10pm (my vague recollection, but DS5 had thought later). Just called again to switch plans - pick up later back at the cottage. So how useful is the school having everyone sign papers with their transportation plans, only to change all those plans willy-nilly? Wow, what a mess! Hope at least the kids have fun at prom! And everyone gets home safely afterwards.

Are you feeling any better? I saw you were able to get a different script, so hopefully it will start working soon.
