I believe he is a citizen now. He's at the very least a resident as that was his status when I met him. He's been to jail so many times for many different reasons, I'm not even sure what all for. I used to go on the MO site and just see if there were any more charges since the last time I checked, but I haven't cared enough to check for a long time. I think my DH said that you could be deported even if you became a citizen if you have certain Felonies. If you have Felony Convictions, and you want to become a citizen, they probably will not grant you citizenship. DH has an Uncle that was deported for a Felony Conviction. He had been here since a baby. I know that at least one of his charges is a felony, but it must not qualify for deportation.

unfortunately, that didn't work when I was getting all of the election campaigners when I was in the summer rental. I wanted to put a huge banner up at the mailbox in the hopes of deterring any that made the trek down from the street. and, save myself the aggravation of having to clothesline LD into another room when he noticed someone standing at the front door. Campaigners are a free for all. Renters may not be able to alter a house, but they can vote. that's fair, but I was a super short-termer. they had no reason to know that, but it was incredibly irritating that I couldn't actually prevent them from coming.

But the pushing sales folks are getting on my last nerve. Especially the ones who are lying to con folks.

There's a big sign as you enter the neighborhood, No Soliciting. People don't respect it and I don't answer the door. Particularly on days I'm home alone, the door stays locked. If I'm not expecting you or a package I'm not answering. Before I quit answering the door some lady was upset I didn't let her in my house. That rubbed me the wrong way. It's my home, I'll invite who I want.

Were you registered to vote there when you were super short-term renting? When I run turfs for campaigns (mine or other candidates) we're generating lists based on voter patterns. I'm not knocking on doors just to knock on doors. Unless you were on an unregistered voter list?

But speaking as an elected official who is heavily involved in the local Democratic committee, I still hate answering my door, lol.

Maddow is now wearing a leather collar with his sensor. It has a clasp that fits in to a hole. I am hoping he can not figure out how to get this off. He has tried to eat out of both feeders and only his feeder opened for him. He better appreciate all of this money I'm spending on him to keep his cute face around. He's a very lucky kitty to have found his "forever home" with you. They both are lucky really, but he's getting the extra concern and love right now.

I'm guessing the Jehovah's witnesses claim the same exemption. I actually don't think I've been home when any of the political people come around. I usually come home to find something in the door.
Those selling remodeling services, internet, pest control, carpet cleaning and all the rest can just go away. I get literature from that group more frequently than politics or religion.

If life wasn't fun enough it looks like the Canadian wildfire smoke has made it to NJ. Decided to wear a surgical mask on my way home walking from the bus stop. I think I am going to work on the minimum reasonable to do tonight. Maybe pre prep for tomorrow and add two surgical masks to my purse or tote. We'd been having milky sunshine for more than a week from the wildfires, but today you can smell the smoke. Smelling smoke is a little unnerving around here RN, because there was a bad housefire in the village Sat night. At least 4 fire companies called in, and there was talk of explosions (possibly basement oil tanks, or scuba tanks) on Firewire FB. When we went to church Sun morning there were black chunks and flakes all over the church's front walk - it took me a sec to realize it was from the fire a block away - either the explosions, or the high winds on Sat. So many things not too far away, if the fire had gotten out of control - my church, the library , the HS (and MS is on the other side of the campus). In other news, DH spent the day helping DS2 move furniture for his new house. An older couple would love to unload tons of nice furniture (and other stuff). DH called me at work - they had old steamer trunks, 5 or 6, and an old gas powered bike from the 1930s(?) they were trying to convince DH to take. Now I need to figure out what I'm doing with the two large trunks he brought home.

Oof. Who all is being inundated with the Canadian wildfire smoke right now? The entire southeastern PA region smells like a campfire.

They said on the weather this morning that Indianapolis was getting smoke and showed the haze. Tonight on the way home I thought it was going to rain, but maybe the smoke is down this way now. It was really hazy but I don't smell anything at least.
The movie was good, we ended up going to the 3:40 PM showing. We got some popcorn and nachos and cheese. She and I didn't even eat all of it. We decided we didn't want to eat out either. I bought salts for the softener today but didn't get litter, told DD we will run up again this week. I only bought a cantaloupe and can of tomato soup today, trying to really minimize buying food. We have so much put back. Got the car washed and fueled up at $3.29 a gallon. Saudi is holding oil off again so its going to shoot up, aggravating.
We got the attorney bill was only $535, that was a pleasant surprise. Hubs and DIL worked today, he said he was really tired, he said she was too. She was cooking them fried potatoes and hamburgers for he and little Tommy. He is taking tomorrow off and getting his oil changed. That's good, I think they both need to rest up.
I saw an interesting sight today. This young guy was working in TJ Maxx, a very handsome teen. But he had acrylic nails, they were painted both white on some and green on others. I can say I have not seen that before, his nails were much prettier than mine for sure. Mine have chipped nail polish and need filed. Is this a new fad?
I doubt I sew tonight, feel like we have worked hard today.
I bought a small size dish drainer, hubs doesn't dirty many dishes and washes them so I thought that would be handy for him to use.
I'm watching a show on Filmwise. There's a bunch of shows on some of these channels and they are all free so good deal. I may read a bit tonight too.
Planning on mowing at a rent house tomorrow, may be the last time I need to for awhile if we don't get rain soon. I told hubs I waited about 2 days to many before I burned all that stuff I put on the burn pile, but not about to now. Hubs said he will get the tractor out so he can contain it.

At the moment, Maddow does not think he is lucky. He hates the collar. If only I could get him to understand it is for his own good.

We don't have salesmen way out here. Maybe one a year or less. And the over 55 community doesn't have any that I saw. I get lots of solicitation mail though.

I don't think different colors on different nails is particularly new. Right now rainbow nails are big for Pride Month. A couple weeks ago a staffer at our local donut shop had peacock nails to match his peacock eyeshadow-really stunning. I've done bright red on my big toe with a gold glitter star and bright blue on the rest of my toenails for 4th of July. A friend of mine does hers in orange and blue, Houston Astro colors. I don't put color on my fingers as I'm too hands-on in the house and yard for anything to last, even acrylics and gels. And the chemicals involved in those scare me. But my toenails are fair game for anything the salon has to offer. This winter I'm going to try an ombre effect from black to white across each foot. That's an extra $5 but I think it will be worth it.

Fence Wars, Part Whatever. As background, the house next door to me is owned by a guy who leases it to his brother, my neighbor. My neighbor pays 99% of the maintenance cost and plans to buy it from his brother in a year or two. While I'm getting my haircut this morning, Good Guy Neighbor texts me that Crazy Lady showed up at his brother's house at the crack of dawn Saturday and began waving all her various fence quotes in his face, demanding he share in the cost of said fence. So the owner brother called a contractor to get a quote because GASP he doesn't trust her quotes.
It's still a detente - she wants a 4' chain link fence and won't share in the cost of a wooden fence, and the property owner and his brother want a 6' wooden privacy fence. No one is budging.
To be continued for a damn long time I fear

To be continued for a damn long time I fear I think the winning move would be not sharing the cost, getting a surveyor out there and staking his land. Build whatever near her just inside his property line, maybe even in a foot or more if he hopes to catch her trespassing. That would be a Trump lawyer type move and you would want to send a letter certified mail signature required literally showing where the fence would be built and that however many inches outside of the fence is not her property. This however is a rich or richer than neighbor kind of move. Simpler would-be planting bushes or hedges that would grow together. Holly, lilacs, electrified artificial bushes, the possibilities are numerous.

Is there a reason Good Guy neighbor hasn't had a lawyer draft a cease and desist letter to the neighbor? He really needs to document her behavior and consider getting a restraining order against her even if its only if she steps onto the non public parts of his property.

I think the word you really want is impasse or similar. We've got the wildfire smoke in the Midwest. Today was bad. My eyes have been burning, like I spent too much time on the beach, or too much time reading, since this morning. That smoke can go away anytime...

We are in port in the Scottish highlands. Today we go to a (single malt) Scotch whiskey distillery. Even though neither of us is fond of whiskey, this seemed like an interesting excursion, and I have relatives who would really appreciate a bottle. Tomorrow we're in Shetland, then on to Norway, which makes me sad. I don't want this to be over.
I'm going to the top deck tonight to see if I get sight of the Milky Way. There should be no real light pollution around here.

We are in Heimey this morning, on the southern coast of Iceland. The sun is shining and the scenery spectacular.
We have a boat trip out to another bird reserve. Hope we can see a puffin.

The only solicitors we tend to get are real estate agents who have clients who want to buy in this development. Either that, or they want to buy the undeveloped property we own. Both are a strong Nope. The land is undeveloped for a reason.
Living where we do also means we get very few trick or treaters. I buy a bag of candy, just in case. We eat the bag.

Prepping for the day and reading about our air quality for the next few days. www.msn.com/en-us/weather/topstories/canadian-wildfire-smoke-updates-east-coast-skies-engulfed-in-dangerous-haze/ar-AA1cdwLt?ocid=msedgdhp&pc=U531&cvid=b7e989018d3f44709fb75f62134cfaa1&ei=21Hazy and dangerous fumes from ongoing Canadian wildfires have engulfed the skies over most of the Northeast coast, prompting serious air quality alerts for millions of Americans. As of Tuesday evening, 17 states have issued those alerts, as the thick fumes have blocked the sky and sent people indoors to avoid breathing in the polluted air.NYC mayor says air quality expected to 'deteriorate further' Wednesday The air quality in New York City worsened Tuesday evening and is expected to "deteriorate further" Wednesday afternoon and evening, New York City Mayor Eric Adams said in a statement.Weather.com put air quality at 107 when I left work yesterday. I'm guessing it will be worse before it gets better. Going to pull some masks to wear on my commute walks.

Virginia is now under an air quality alert. This is the first morning this week that the sun has risen in a haze.
ETA - It is an orange alert. And it looks foggy up by the road.
