Did not sleep well and need to do fleece and work clothes laundry. Along with the DW, making dinner, and collating the AAA crap plus confirming my ride to my doctor's appointment Tuesday morning.
Feel at times like I am hanging from a thread lurching from here to there. Now both legs have pulled muscles and tight pinaformis muscles among other things. The right side varies on hating the ankle more than the knee and since I have to use stairs unless I stay trapped in my apartment, limiting the overuse of my legs etc. is hard.

countrygirl2 We just sat in a restaurant parking lot for 5 minutes so I could read that to DH. It took a couple minutes more to stop laughing so I could drive home.

Just heard a hysterical story about an incident in the next block last week. A neighbor over there (a woman of color in her 60's) has a long history of calling the police on various neighbors for a laundry list of alleged activities. In the latest incident, she was offended when a man walked his dog on the public sidewalk in front of her house, and it growled at her as she stood in her yard. She launched a verbal assault on the man and, after a period of time, he gave up being reasonable and told her where to stick it. So she calls the police to demand he be arrested. The responding officer was also a woman of color and seemingly it did not go well. First, I don't recommend calling any police officer anything other than "Officer, Sergeant, Lieutenant" or such. Definitely do not call an officer "Sister". And when the officer declines to go arrest a person for you, don't use "Uncle Tom" or "Oreo". And, for sure, don't tell the responding officer you are going to shoot the dog and its owner. It's going to be a long summer here. Last summer she called the police to demand they make her neighbor quit using mosquito repelling candles and stuff in his backyard because she could smell it. Holy shit! That lady is the very definition of a Karen.

Got into a rabbit hole looking up rendered bovine fat just for grins on a pkg of cookies. Turns out they are made in Uruguay. Hard cocoa cookies made by La Triguema Frollini Cacao. Looked optimist safe and I also bought the cookies I like from Peru.
When I look at a package of cookies, I check to see if they contain palm oil. If they do, I don't buy them. Palm oil is destroying vast swaths of rainforest, where everything is cut down and replaced with oil palms. The orangutans are shot to death, as they're just 'pests". The babies are left to fend for themselves and they die. We're destroying the planet.

You are a saint Pink. At this point I'd be telling Mister it's dad or me. My sympathy and understanding only go so far unfortunately. I absolutely get how difficult the system is but having your head in the sand not only makes it worse for the old person but everyone around them. IDK I get how soul sucking it is and getting overwhelmed with decisions but maybe it's because I've had to just keep swimming since 2022 Im losing my patience. Sometimes even when we want to collapse we have no choice but to ask even more of ourselves. Keep venting here you need and have a right to an outlet for your feelings I’m not going to tell Mister it’s his Dad or me. I don’t feel like that would be right. He’s eventually going to get fed up himself anyway, just like he did before his Dad went to stay with Baby Sister. And maybe I have empathy for Mister because I went through a bunch of shit with my own Mom that was similar in some ways, so I understand how difficult it is, and I wasn’t grieving the death of my other parent at the same time. Anyway, I left the question I was trying to ask yesterday alone because I felt like either I wasn’t being clear, or I was missing something in the replies. So I’m going to try again. I wasn’t asking if Mister could go out and hire and attorney and use his Dad’s money to pay for it. I was asking if a surviving spouse can hire an attorney to assist with settling the deceased spouse’s estate, using some of the money they received from life insurance on the deceased spouse. The surviving spouse speaks to the attorney and signs whatever necessary documents themself, and makes the payment transaction(s) themself. I know this particular situation has other pertinent details, but that was my question. Idk if Dad’s money is still considered Mom’s money too, as far as whatever bills she left that need to be paid, or whatever, and whether there is some legal reason or other reason it’s a bad idea for HIM to use some of the life insurance money for that. I’m pretty sure he would agree to get an attorney for that. If for no other reason than the insurance settlement from their car accident is tied up now until the probate process is done or whatever. Which is ultimately more money for him.

Looked optimist safe and I also bought the cookies I like from Peru. Here's my rabbit hole URL find. Its actually interesting, but I probably should have spent my time on useful things like prepping laundry or loading the DW. lipidlibrary.aocs.org/edible-oil-processing/animal-fatsHas interesting stuff like - 4.4. Other animal fats
Besides the above described animal fats, there are some other fats which do not fall under the heading “fat melting and rendering”, as they are gained by other processes.
Butterfat/clarified butter
Butter is a water-in-oil emulsion resulting from an inversion of the cream, an oil-in-water emulsion. Melting butter produces clarified butter or ghee, which is almost entirely butterfat. Butterfat can be produced from milk from any species. Clarified butter can have different regional names: Samna (Middle East) or Ghee (South Asia).
Wool fat/wool wax/lanolin
Wool fat can be separated from water used to wash the wool. Despite the still often used name wool fat it is not a “fat” because it consists of wax. The correct name wool wax should therefore be used. Lanolin may contain paraffin oil and water. Its application is mostly in pharmaceutics/skin care.Interesting site!

I believe life insurance money is separate from the estate Pink Cashmere and can be used by the beneficiary upon receipt any way the wish to (any lawyer here like swamp please set me straight if I remember this incorrectly) so Mister's dad could use that money to hire a lawyer. Even if his mom's estate were in the red - more debts than assets - the insurance money would all be his. There may be exceptions for things like nursing home bills with Medicaid involved I don't know that but that is irrelevant here anyway

Work clothes laundry in process. I don't know why Moon Shadow is not assisting with his fleece laundry, he's over three years old now and instead of helping he's whoopling hoping to score more lettuce, some attention or possibly more hay.
Dizzy and my throat is sore. Wish I had some Chloraseptic spray. Going to see later if I still have any cough drops here somewhere.

I'm sorry to read that, but Palm oil has been used for hundreds of years in many cuisines. Wouldn't it better to check the sources of said oil? I sometimes cook with it (prefer Nutiva on sale) or ghee as both are fats that can take high heat. There is responsibly raised cacao beans and I would expect there is also responsibly sourced palm oil. Palm oil for example is really common around here making empadas. That's why some of them have that rich orange yellow color. I try not to buy things that bad people do to make money, but I'm not striving for perfection. In the case of the above it would be best that the affected countries pass laws to limit destruction of the rain forest for these and other crops. Given just how widespread palm oil has become, which countries produce it? Data from the United States Department of Agriculture shows that nearly 85 percent of palm oil production occurs in just two countries, Indonesia and Malaysia.www.statista.com/chart/23097/amount-of-palm-oil-produced-in-selected-countries/

Was by feeling so much better. Yesterday and today. So wanted to plant some hollyhocks in a small little area. First had to remove vines. Well managed to sort of plant the hollyhocks, really just put them all in a small area and covered in a little dirt. Had soaked the plants prior. Love hollyhocks, remind me of childhood garden and making dolls of the upside down flowers I am exhausted. Had planned to also plant some seeds but nope. Came in and had a big glass of water now just sitting Next treatment is Wednesday so don’t want to tire myself too much. Hoping the cancer marker will be cut in half again

I have two books by Udo Eramus (sp?) One is 'Fats and Oils" bout the health of various oils, safe cooking and baking temps, plus what to avoid.

That story was totally awesome, countrygirl2. Both of the dogs were staring at me as I was laughing out loud. Mapquest let me down once again. Fortunately, I have a map app on my cell phone, but my stupid phone screen kept shutting down as I was trying to find my way. I finally reached my destination, but I won't be driving anywhere new without my Garmin in the future. (I went to check out a nice-looking house for sale, about 10 miles or so from where I live now.)

In other news with old people problems, Mister just left to go check on his Aunt (Mom’s sister). One of her friends or somebody managed to get in contact with Mister because a couple of them were concerned about her. One of them tried to get her to go see about an open wound on her leg yesterday, and now she’s not answering her phone.
When she came over last weekend, she had a black eye, she’d just got out of the hospital a few days prior because she tripped over something and fell and hit her head. She’s the Aunt that’s single with no children.

Which is ultimately more money for him. Pink I think you asking the wrong questions. Mister's Dad is not competent. Full stop. What he could do should be irrelevant. If you want to guide Mister I would repeatedly in different ways suggest there needs to be a plan for the estate if Mister is the executor or plans made on what to do when it all goes to heck. Because he's already careening down the tracks flinging crap in his path. Its only a matter of time when he destroys all he can. Its not an if question but a when. I'm not you, but I'd try to get Mister to focus on that instead of surviving the daily problems of his dad. I will say in RL there is a customer who we will not be able to save from herself. She likes to do nice things, but instead gets scammed for small money as if you donate to any idiot who calls you mentioning a police organization or similar organizations. A man called more than once trying to setup online access to drain her accounts. And right now, I am being reminded of when my mom started going south with her driving and being unsafe for others. Its hard to listen/watch someone repeatedly come up with a story that I do not even need to know. And given my car situation it is hard to listen to a rich person plan to buy a new car than merely fix a most fixable vehicle. I think scamming is going on in that regard but she's is probably emotionally culpable. My mom did not want to acknowledge the traffic accident was her fault and she needed to stop driving. She really fought it. Thankfully she was not rich and functional enough to go off and buy another car for some shady person or place. There is more train wreck watching in my future. It was an exhausting week. I had another customer vault off the deep end as I decided to ask her more questions about a transaction as the computer program hung at the beginning of the transaction. It was very bad. I shutdown everything I could think of and seemed to help not at all. Was annoying as well. As if when I start a transaction, the computer knows right away who the heck you are. As if knowing you are a longtime customer somehow makes the computer not seize up.

My grandma said this morning that she wanted to try slides so I'm going to get her some today. Should I get her Nike slides like I wear, or those yeezy knock offs? Nike slides like you wear. That's what she wanted to try yes? I don't think she really cares. She was saying that her toe hurt. I guess someone comes and cuts her toenails and they aren't coming until Wednesday. I can't handle feet or I'd just cut them for her. My uncle suggested she wear shoes like the slides I had on. She said she'd try it. I just bought her a $15 pair of Champion slides off the clearance rack. That way if she doesn't like them, I didn't spend a bunch of money. Hell, I'll reposses them and wear them myself if she doesn't like them.

I don’t really care if it makes it worse, he’s going to lie and tell everybody we are mistreating him anyway. Also, I’m not willing to let another adult come in and disrupt my household, and I just suffer in silence while they go about their merry way wreaking havoc in my home. It’s not the same as when I was trying to tread carefully when we were having issues with Mister’s daughters.

I worry about that for hubs and I that is why I want to be near son. We are nowhere near something like that yet. But a stroke or just any health issue that damages the brain or just aging can do it. So I want someone competent to stop it.
We went to town, bough a bit of groceries, $47 not bad. A lot of things I would not buy, will get veggies and fruit in the city. The produce looked bad. I was just glancing at prices as I went through. They have the box of cheese slices we buy at $19 now. Last I bought at Sam's was $8 something. You could drive to the city for just that one item. I can see them eventually closing at this rate. So I just picked up a few items.
My Ozempic was $257 for one month but it hopefully will come down in another month when I get out of the donut hole. So can do that.
I ordered 2 bottles of the makeup I use from Merle Norman $90. I wish I could cancel it, I would if I could. I'm like hubs there is a point that I am not paying anymore and it should have been today. I put on some from Neutrogena and it looks good. It was an old bottle so bought a fresh one for $8. After I finish the other 2 I'm not buying more of it. I will continue to use their face powder as I only buy 1 or 2 a year and their lipstick, unless I find a good substitute for less. I'm thinking this makeup might last me the rest of the year unless they have shrunk the bottles. I just don't believe that everytime I buy something that it should go up that much, it used to be $25, now over $45 for one.
Ok, going to go out and water. Saturday it was dry, today the heat has really taken a toll and a lot of the grass is brown. Not looking good right now. I am letting water run in one flower bed.
Need to change clothes and go water, don't want to lose my landscaping.

Pink Cashmere I agree with NastyWoman that Dad is entitled to use his life insurance settlement in any way he sees fit. Obviously, using it to hire an attorney to settle Mom's estate would be a very wise use of the $$. And the dangling carrot of possibly more funds coming his way might be very attractive to Dad.

Today has been sort of low key but productive. We had 2+ inches of rain overnight which we needed. After breakfast, I mopped the floors, made out the week's menus, and reconciled a bank statement. Tomorrow I'll make a grocery run which will be minimal as we'll leave next Saturday. I used the last of the avocados for our breakfast toast, and the last of the strawberries.

something tells me that might make it worse. hugs, Pink. you have the patience of a saint lately. 💗 Thanks!

And I just found that I could pause Dish for 9 months and not return all the stuff. It's $5 a month, we are under no contract and enough money in the refund to pay that, so I did it. We are paying $80 a month to just hear news, as hubs said we can hear it all on roku. They didn't try to talk me into anything else, so good deal. I should have done this some time ago.
I want to be able to use the other house and not strain our budget so things like this are simple to do. We really don't have much else we could cancel though as we don't subscribe to much of anything.
Funny how you start believing you just can't live without certain things.
