I'm watching a true crime show on TV. A young wife disappeared. Evidently, she and her new husband had so many things in common, like bear baiting. I hope they find her dead, and that the husband did it. He'll go to jail for a long, long time.
Bear-baiting is a blood sport in which a chained bear and one or more dogs are forced to fight one another. It may also involve pitting a bear against another animal.[1][2][3] Until the 19th century, it was commonly performed in Great Britain, Sweden, India, Pakistan, and Mexico among others. Today, "bear baiting" most commonly refers to the practice of using edible bait to lure bears into an area for hunting. Bear-baiting in all forms has been subject to controversy and debate among animal rights advocates for centuries. -wiki

It was the husband (of course). He's doing life in jail. This spares the life of a few innocent bears.

Resting and thinking about my next move. Radishes out, a couple other things also out of stock. Grocery delivery came in 3 paid by me bags again when two would have sufficed. I am without a car, and I am regaining my strength. The potato chips, the couple small bottles of herbs plus two small popcorn bags easily could have gone in with the 5 lbs. of onions and large store brand of rolled oats. I'll review my charges later. Any adjustments would not happen until Monday or Tuesday due to staffing. Work was a challenging shift in spite of being slow most of the day. Took the first transaction of the day and the last. Luckily the bus turned out to run roughly every half hour versus roughly every hour or so in the morning.

A lady I used to work with had a multi-cat household and she would keep little perfume samples around. After a vets visit each kitty would get the quickest little swipe on the top of their head with the perfume sample. She said when they all smelled the same it stopped the hissing and fighting after a visit to the vets. I'm very much not a cat person, but LD has massive separation anxiety - for his sister. he'll watch for my car when I go out/travel, but he loses his mind when he doesn't at least know that Punk is nearby. that was a lot of fun during her various surgeries each of the past 3y. anyway, I book all of their appointments together. and, with the blockage surgery adventure a few weeks back, he came in to the office for (his own) moral support and the practice is totally okay with it. is that not an option for cats? It would be an option if they didn't each way 20 pounds.

DISEASES & CONDITIONS Why life expectancy in the US is falling COVID-19 and drug overdoses are the biggest contributors. October 20, 2022 By Robert H. Shmerling, MD, Senior Faculty Editor, Harvard Health Publishing; Editorial Advisory Board Member, Harvard Health Publishing This is one I read, but not the one about the other countries. Another Life Expectancy of the World Population Life expectancy at birth. Data based on the latest United Nations Population Division estimates. See also: Population See also: Countries in the world ranked by Life Expectancy Thank you for sharing that. As The Walk of the Penguin Mich mentioned, I knew Covid had an impact. I had wondered about the opioid crisis so that wasn't too surprising. How sad on both counts.

I took down my drapes to wash them. They're supposed to be dry cleaned only, so we'll see. It was a pain in the ass to take them down. It will be harder to put them back. I only have a rickety table to stand on...no step ladder. I'm short, so even standing on a chair, I can't reach.
It was nice knowing all of you.

I call our bi-monthly junk waste collection my "leading economic indicator" for our community financial health. Judging by the quantity of fence boards, sheetrock, toilets, and mattresses on the curb, folks here are doing okay

Reminds me of why we had a tree trim service come out last week and trim our dead palm fronds. I could do it, I kept saying. Of course I couldn't. I'd need a bucket truck to reach them. Even our tallest ladder and long-pole tree saw still proved I am too short. I am not shrinking. Damned trees are just too tall.

So while we were in the Arctic, as we went out of town there was a sign that polar bears outside this sign. It kind of reminded mt of those deer crossing signs we see on the highway.
I’ll bet my ass, hat and gas mask that polar bears read those signs just like deer do.

As I remember, Dad was very vocal about his desire to remarry quickly. That may have drawn the attention of some more interested in his $$ There are scammers that troll funeral home web sites and obits looking for widows and widowers. My dad started getting a flood of them before the ink even dried on my mom's death certificate. Our personal favorite was the one we called "The Princess of Africa" She went on a safari and got kidnapped, we had to post her ransom so she could get back to the states. When that didn't work she needed us to give her money to buy her weapons to protect herself so she could escape. Of course once she escaped she would be available for lots of sexy time. Dad's SO got flooded with them as well shortly after her husband died. Fortunately FIL is not really active on social media. It's freaking sick. It's an entire industry. Does dad have social media? A cell phone? I would demand to see them to see who he may have been talking to. OMG, that's hilarious! I see some crazy scams thru the library. They fax us stuff, usually addressed to my first boss (retired more than a dozen years ago), second boss (died 9 years ago), or third boss (quit for a different library 7 years ago). Usually from a Canadian law firm about some client they have who died nearly 10 years ago with an insurance payout that the dreaded govt will take if they can't find an heir. But since YOU share the same (ridiculously common) last name, they will happily give you 90% so long as they can donate 10% to a wonderful charity! Full of weird random capitalizations, odd phrasing, anti-govt innuendo. And looks like a document from the 80s that's been copied 25 times, despite it being personalized for you.

Sooooo, would it be wrong or a mistake to use the proceeds from Mister’s Mom’s life insurance policies to hire an attorney to handle her final affairs and whatever needs to be done legally IRT Mister’s Dad? Dad is the beneficiary.

Assuming Mr is has not been given permission to make such decisions by his Dad.

Well, I NEVER want to do that again. The drapes I washed aren't any worse for wear. I removed the dark beige ones and put up some cranberry colored ones, with the pale drapes I washed in the middle It's four big drapes to cover a massive living room window. DS said he'll help me, but I wasn't going to hold my breath. He moved his office and himself to Pierrefonds, which is a 40 minute drive with no traffic. I never see him anymore. When I was moving around furniture and plants to get to the window, I found a morphine tablet, which helped, as I still have terrible arthritis in my knee, and couldn' jump on and off the rickety table like a mountain goat.

I am sure I will get slammed for being judgmental. I posted a series of books on NextDoor and got a taker. But she needed them delivered because she doesn't drive. Ok . . . she doesn't live far from me, and I can see why someone who doesn't drive would prioritize books. Only she gave me the wrong address - the house in front of hers/theirs (she mentioned a husband). So after making a fool of myself trying to deliver them to the guy who answered the door, they told me she lived behind. The house was falling down. At first I wanted to just turn around and take my books and go home. Lol. But instead I rang the doorbell a few times. No one answered. I knocked on the door and then the window. No one answered. I got back in the car, again to simply go home. It wasn't a big deal. I've been stood up by FB buyers and sellers. Then I decided to just leave them. $20 is a lot of money to some people. So I did. She keeps messaging me saying she wants to send me a check. But I don't want her money. She needs it more than I do. And I have to get rid of the books one way or another. Better her than the thrift store.

She just asked DH to touch her armpit. Because you know, it's clean. I thought kids are supposed to sleep in during the summer...

Mister won’t do it behind his Dad’s back. He will just be the one to take his Dad to the attorney. As far as her estate having to go through some form of probate court, is that not Dad’s responsibility, meaning he would be the one hiring the attorney with his own money to settle her estate as her husband?
I have been warned enough about Mister being very careful with this situation, that’s why I’m asking. I’ve also told Mister he needs to ask those questions of whatever attorney he talks to. I’m asking here first, so we have an idea of what questions he needs to ask and what he needs to get clarity on as far as the money.
I seriously doubt Mister will pay out of his pocket for an attorney to handle the estate stuff if his Dad has the money for it, unless there is some legal reason Dad can’t pay for it out of the life insurance money. Idk what happens then.

Put the collars on the cats. Amelia has escaped hers once and it's back on. I am sure she will try again. I don't know where Maddow is. If he took it off, I have no idea of where it is. Damn cats sure outsmarted me. I only bought two collars but two more will arrive on Tuesday that are made of a different material and can be pulled tighter easier.

Do you want two skirts or just one? Well, I don't really want 2 of the same skirt in different sizes. But, I only need one total for the trip. If it's a flowy, stretchy skirt, I'd go smaller. If it's a fitted skirt, I'd go bigger so you have wiggle room.

Sheldon has several collars, all pretty much identical other than different colors. What happens is he loses a collar, I get him a new one and then I find the old collar. So I rotate through a raspberry colored one, lime green or turquoise. When I left, he had the raspberry one on, and I found the turquoise one. Stil haven’t found the green one yet.

You might want to scan her room to see where she’s hiding all that belly button lint. She may be making a small nesting place for mice.

He did sleep with me and Amelia got the message she couldn't sleep with me if she was going to hiss at Maddow. She didn't sleep with me. After a vets visit each kitty would get the quickest little swipe on the top of their head with the perfume sample. She said when they all smelled the same it stopped the hissing and fighting after a visit to the vets. Can you explain that? What does going to the vet have to do with hissing?

Idk what happens then. As I recall, your MIL died without a valid will. I don't know squat about estate law in your state, but I'm thinking probate is needed with or without a will, and Dad would be the one to initiate that. IMHO, the only circumstances under which Mister would have the right to spend funds from MIL's estate is (1) if he were executor of the estate via the will or (2) if he was named on one of her bank accounts as a beneficiary upon death or a joint account holder. From what you have shared here, he has zero right to spend funds from either MIL's or FIL's account

I've googled the law firm name, address, and lawyer name, and they *might* be legitimate. So is a real lawyer/law firm doing this, or is someone running a scam for decades using their name?
