I stopped my physical paper because they went to a "toss" route. I don't want to have to find my paper somewhere close to the driveway in rain or snow. For some reason, the city denied putting up the boxes in this subdivision. At least then I would have known where the paper is. The other reason is cost and small town newspapers have little content. it's dead center in my driveway, when it actually shows up. but I def understand your frustration as well. I'd been keeping the subscription live bc a) I get full online access, and b)I don't think Sundays only is available anymore if I were to cancel now and try to sign up again when I eventually move somewhere else. I do actually enjoy spending Sunday morning with the paper and a huge mug of coffee. all that said, it might be time to look at online-only fees and such. bc this is beyond old. The paper here charges the same for online only access as it does for home delivery with online access.

We're underway from London to Dover, as in white cliffs of. I know the boat is moving but there is no real sensation of motion, just a vague slight vibration. It's soothing.

DH got side swiped coming off the interstate. He's fine, Gwen and Charlotte are fine. Passenger side of the car is pretty banged up. Guy tried to force his way into DHs lane. The other driver ran. Glad DH has full coverage. Yikes that sucks. People be crazy. Maybe there is something in the stars or the air today? I watched most of the Indy 500. Three red flags and more than three crashes. The last one was when they were restarting the race at the last 14 or 15 laps. I'll read tomorrow about all the drivers. I'd love to know about the guy whose car ended up careening on its roof sparks flying.

I am downstairs making my shorts in lavender. All that's left to do is sew on the waist band and put in the buttonhole. I really like this piece of fabric, doesn't wrinkle and sewed beautifully. I am rethinking the top. I bought a big piece of that white with lavender flowers fabric on sale and its just not that great. I am going to dig through my stash and see if I can find something I like better. I did find a piece with dainty lavender flowers on it on a white background. It's regular woven fabric and not stretch but I have a pretty pattern I'm wanting to try and thinking that will make up nicely into a blouse. I'm going to make the slacks and blouse in another coordinating color out of it. I have a feeling if it fits well it will become another one of my favorites.
The signal for the internet isn't coming in good enough downstairs for the roku to run. Hubs has built all that in and must be blocking. The main menu comes up and then it just says loading and loading and no connection. Hubs said try moving the signal booster up here. It could be over the wall he built in down there and blocking it so I will. I like to watch and listen to movies while I'm sewing.
My Smokey is something else, I have to keep the lid on my pin boxes. That cat is determined to get my straight pins. For some reason he is fascinated with them. I even had to put the pin cushion away. He was even going to fight me for some and tried to pull them out of my fabric. That is the wildest thing I've seen. He gets one stuck in his mouth or swallowed and it will be an emergency vet trip so I'm putting them away and doing everything I can to keep them away from him. He keeps it up I will have to ban him from the basement. Tigger is asleep on a pile of fabric down there and Smoke on the couch, they love the sewing area.
I buy Pellon (its used inside of waistbands, cuffs, and button fronts for stability) I buy by the bolt. And I must have 60 or 70 zippers. When I see a real sale on this stuff I get it for pennys on the dollar so have stocked up on most colors. Also the same with buttons and other stuff. It looks like I'm going to be using

This is the only country in the world where people go bankrupt because of health care and it should not be that way. How can everyother country manage their healthcare and costs better than us?
We pay enough taxes and insurance premiums I imagine we are paying for all our meds out of pocket. Hubs was saying he bets with what we pick up paying in the donut hole it probably pays all the insurance company is paying for my meds in a year. I wouldn't doubt it a bit.
And the reason we have nice homes is because we both have worked our asses off to do things ourselves and save on that. And hubs is still working his butt off to do so. I do not feel guilty at all for what we have, we have sacrificed a lot to do it. But with costs like these wouldn't take long to eat it up. I feel so sorry for people with cancer or things that eat them alive with medical costs.
Hubs took grandson back up to ride the ferry, he thought it was pretty neat. Hubs said it was 3 stories tall and held at least a 100 cars so was huge. But he said it was really cold today. When they got home it was too cold for him to clean more on the outside of the mobile. He said he had to turn the furnace on. Here it says 77 out but the air is quite cool, I'm about ready to shut the door and windows. I'm not turning the furnace on but I slept with a blanket and feather comforter last night and it felt good.

I did read an article that said some companies are going to stop people from ordering several items of clothes in different sizes then return them. I'm not sure how or when.
Also, another said there is a huge pile of discarded clothing in S America that is so big you can see it from space. How wasteful. Apparently, they end up dumped there.
I sometimes, though rarely, order 2 different sizes in a shoe to get the right one. I order from Orthofeet frequently so have a good idea of sizes there.
Back down to finish my shorts, had to ease the fabric into the waistband so took a bit longer to pin.

Diverticulosis is having intestinal pockets. When those pockets become infected, that’s diverticulitis. Corn kernels are not good for her. My doctor warned me that corn will cut like a million knives. Both Cipro and Flagyl have black box warnings due to their dangerous side effects. Instead, I take Grapefruit Seed Extract at the first sign of trouble. If that’s not enough, augmenting or amox/clav works. The reason that other countries are able to provide health care for their citizens is that despite higher taxes, care is rationed or limited. You need to see a specialist, expect to wait a year or two. You need hearing aids, again wait a year or two. You get cancer and are age 80+, don’t expect to get expensive chemo drugs. Why do you think that some Canadians come across the border and pay privately to get care? It also the reason that British people who can afford to do so, go private (pay for care themselves). No one should have to go broke or become deep in debt due to medical care. However, There is no perfect system.

One way to go shopping is to go online and put together a mega order of stuff that you want to try on. You can order 2 different sizes, or things that you just want to try on. You’ll be sending most of it back. I HATE shopping, even more so since I can’t find what I’m looking for and no longer have the patience to deal with stores. The last mega order I made was last year, to buy a new dress for my nephew’s wedding. I placed orders of 5-7 dresses each to Talbots and Boden. I had to package them all up and send back, but I could try them all on in my bathroom and see how they looked without the crap of dressing rooms. I chose one, everything else went back. That's terrible! Most companies will not put these things back in their inventory. It's easier to throw them out, and most go to the . It must depend on the store. Some years back, a news program caught a store putting used, returned underwear back on the rack.

Can you please cite your source(s) for info on the quality and cost of US healthcare vs other nations? We pay our taxes every year as well, and are glad to do so. I'm sure our total tax bill is not as large as yours, as our income is also far less and have no tax-sheltering mechanisms. I did not suggest you should feel guilty about what you have; I asked why you think other US taxpayers should subsidize your healthcare expenses now. DH and I also sacrificed a lot to be where we are now, and we don't ask anyone else to fund our lifestyle. I too feel sorry for those with cancer; DH has battled it, in one form or another, for over 20 years.

DN1's university pays for supplemental insurance in Canada so they can see specialists, etc. So far, they have had no problems being seen between the national health service and the supplemental insurance. It also covers prescriptions.
My friend whose wife died of cancer a few years ago made her decision to go to hospice because the chemo that the doctors wanted to try was going go cost $34,000 per month out of pocket. They had the money but the doctors couldn't tell her it would help her. The chemo she was on put her in the hospital over half of the time between treatments, so she decided enough is enough.

They put returns out on the floor. I have heard some companies do that though. I do know they don’t like you doing that though, so I try not to do it. I have not done well of late on catalog orders.

Had not heard that about corn, no doc has ever said not to eat it. She loves it and has not caused a problem, must have just been damn lucky. If she gets diverticulitis, she gets a fever and is very sick. I get her on a liquid diet quick and watch her closely. I can see the day she has to have it all removed, but they won't even do a colonoscopy on her anymore. The docs tell me no extraordinary measures so what then? They just let her die? I hope we don't have to find out.0
Tonight, we are having some mashed potatoes, gravy, and a pork tenderloin. She loves gravy, but I don't have it too often, maybe we need to drop the corn, now that worries me.
I finished my lavender shorts, a pleasure to work with a good piece of fabric. I cut out a different top to go with them, it too is a nice piece of blouse fabric, I think it must have some polyester in it, it has a soft, looks like wrinkle free finish. It is going to be a challenge to make, it's a Threads pattern and rather involved Only the top or jacket is, I am not adding the tie, its Simplicity pattern number 2370. The skirt or pants are just similar to any others, so nothing different for them. One piece I will need to look at again to make sure one area I cut properly, thankfully I have quite a bit more of that fabric just in case. I brought up some shorts for DD from last summer and 2 or 3 items for me, most of the things are too big but not all.
Pattern sizes have never been created into vanity sizes. So, where I am buying medium and even small in some cases this equates to a size 18 in sewing pattern sizes. I could likely wear a 16 in some styles, but I would rather it be too big and then I cut down or make bigger seams to allow extra, so I don't make it too small.

There are large parts of the world where people really can’t get drugs. Much of Africa, Asia Russia south snd Central American countries
We can!
Yes you can compare the US to EU countries Canada and the UK but the people in all of these countries decided to have different systems. Unfortunately in the US the insurance companies hold doctors and patients hostage. But really no reason for people in the US to go bankrupt to get drugs ( that many patients in other countries can’t get these drugs). Almost all drug manufacturers have programs to cover much of the cost of drugs they produce. But need to do some work to find the charity programs for these companies and apply. Not limited to really poor Jerseyguy is now getting a $14,000/month drug free from the manufacturer.

As you know these programs are highly dependent on what the manufacturer wants to cover and possibly what they need to cover as a percent of their profit or sales? IDK, but I have looked into those programs in the past, and for most of them you have to be way past reasonable low income and into federal poverty level or below to qualify. Unless of course you are 65 and older, blind, disabled or the cost is prohibitive. Speaking as someone whose BK is totally a result of medical costs.

Looked at the printed bus schedule and now I get why I never understood what was going on. Neither of my two stops are listed. Its a long bus route and I think only one stop per town is listed. Tomorrow is the Saturday schedule which lists two fewer stops. Not sure what that means to me, but it appears the schedule is not a good one for my usual Saturday work schedule. I might try in the morning to see if I get picked up and where it might stop, but it will depend on how I feel. My knee still hurts very much and I made it to the drugstore to spend my Xtra bucks before they expired and to see what FSA stuff was in stock that I could get. I think the contamination of one eye drop brand has made it so the Refresh brand is almost totally out of stock there. I did notice a couple small boxes of generic drops there so I picked up one along with another liquid nighttime Mucinex. Really paying for forgetting to put in non dairy yogurt in my delivered grocery order. Drugstore did have one kind of yogurt. Dairy of course. Working on remembering to take at least one capsule a day of older probiotics. Think I got them in 2021 or 2020. Oh and tomorrow's bus run is complicated by the fact that a good portion of the town's main streets are blocked off for Memorial day stuff. Could not find if the bus just doesn't do that part of the run or what.

Ever since I had that whatever it was some days back, the sides of my tongue get sore off and on. I've never had something like that before. And it got me again tonight. We just had mashed potatoes and gravy and a tenderloin, nothing like that should cause it. Will get a cough drop again. And sometimes at night get to coughing again.
Suppose to followup with doc this week so hope it's nothing.

I’m curious to know. Got anymore shit you want to randomly fling

In a previous post, you mentioned your Dd and diverticulosis. T he reason that other countries are able to provide health care for their citizens is that despite higher taxes, care is rationed or limited. What on earth are you talking about? I waited two weeks to see an orthopaedic surdeon. I went to an audiology place, had a hearing test, and got a hearing aid as soon as they made the mold. It was about 3 weeks, and the government paid for it. My friend Hilde was 84 years old when she got a knee replacement and 87 when she got chemo.

I can't sleep, and Penny is mad at me. There is no reason why she can't just stay in my bed, but she won't. So I walked her (my suggestion and not hers), and she is asleep in her crate. She likes the crate just fine, but she is only in it when I am in the room. It obviously is somewhere that she was "sent" because you can tell her to go to her crate and she will. Sometimes she will sit in there and complain, though. You never wonder what Penny is thinking.
I wrote a backup contract for the house I want since it is already under contract. I really want it. My neighbors who are buying this house are willing to let me do a rent-back while I wait. If the people who are currently the buyers want to continue, they have until August 5.
I don't know if I can go without sleep that long! On a brighter note, I was going to sell the brand new seat cushions for the deck chairs for half of what I paid for them. Then I happened to remember that I ordered them online from Big Lots, and the 30-day return policy expires today. So I got lucky and returned them yesterday. Also, I currently have 2 decks. I have just about sold all the furniture from one. Best of all, the neighbors/buyers said not to worry about the pool table in the basement; they would take care of it. That's a relief since it has to be disassembled to remove it. I don't think they realize that, but I did find the manual that tells them how it is assembled.
I think I have every manual for every item we have ever purchased. I threw out a few while I was searching for the pool table one, but I noticed that I need to go through the file more thoroughly.
Anyone else do that?

That’s their problem….and since I do not order from cheap stores, it very likely goes back into stock….either in the store, or elsewhere. I don’t believe that Nordstroms would throw away a $300 silk dress. When stores stopped carrying a full complement of ranges and styles, I have had to adjust how I shopped. The first time I did this, it was for a wedding. I spent 4 weekends hitting every store for a dress to wear. I checked out stores in a 70 mile radius from where I lived and struck out. I was getting desperate, so started ordering dresses by the batch from 4 different stores (Talbots, Macy’s, Dillards and Nordstroms……and note that every store other than Nordstroms had a local location to me, BUT CARRIED NO DRESSES). I ordered 27 dresses, returned 26. The last dress I needed an adjustment of size, so paid to have it FedExed to me, as I was leaving the following weekend. I think that was the first time I paid full price for a piece of clothing in my life, I was that desperate.

It was so hot today and I felt dehydrated. I drank 8 cups of sparkling water with lime this evening. I hope it doesn't keep me up all night.

Flonase, Allegra and one Sudafed have done jack squat. Debating if I should take another the dose for adults is two pills but that can send my flying around the room. Sitting in the shade at the park right now Abby has a birthday party. At least the weather is mild and there is a good breeze. The real Sudafed or fake shit that does squat? I take 2.

Anyone else do that?Pretty much every owner's manual is available online now, so I don't even bother to keep them anymore. It sounds like you are moving right along with your plans. I hope you can get this new place!

I hope you can get this new place! I keep manuals in file folders. I don't have a printer, and if the power is out, I can read it by flashlight if necessary. My internet is unstable enough I do not like relying on it being available when I absolutely need it. Plus I do not want to search Apple's online manual for my Iphone when I am having an issue. Sometimes the problem is an interaction between the network and the phone and that would impact my ability to find anything useful online in a massive manual.

When I bought this house, the previous owners had kept the manuals for everything. They left them in a nice stack on the kitchen counter along with a note explaining one little quirk with something or other (I don't remember now), and I appreciated that.
