On a bus with a bunch of 6th graders to chaperone a field trip with DD1. I could have driven myself but DD1 wanted me to ride the bus with her. 🙂 Some of fondest memories are chaperoning field trips with kiddo! Enjoy.

Sailing through Norwegian fjords. We have had rain, sleet and more rain. Not very nice out and the light is so flat that pics are useless.

One root canal and crown. Plus some fillings and deep cleanings because my teeth are too close together. My own damn fault. Dental care always boils down to pay now, or pay later. I had to have valium for my last root canal. I highly recommend it. Never had one before so I guess we’ll see! Having both wisdom teeth extracted too since I hadn’t gotten around to it before. I hope they give me some good pain meds. It’s not like I have terrible dental hygiene, I’m just horrible about going to the dentist so this is years’ worth of built up issues. Hopefully the fillings will prevent additional root canals down the line.

Trying to make plans for the day. DH is off and Kiddo is already being nonagreeable. I need to buy separating zippers and get Kiddo's swim suits altered before summer camp starts. I buy her the 2 piece suits where the top is the long sleeved UPF rash guard shirt. When it is wet, it is very clingy and difficult for her to take off. I sew a zipper in there and she can just unzip it all the way apart like a jacket.
I also need to label and sew labels in a few more items. But she is not in the mood for all this today. Trying to get everything gathered up and done is already trying my patience. Going to sip another cup of coffee before we try again.

Last day of school for Carrot. Of course, it's a pointless, do nothing, end in the middle of the day day so I'll have to leave at lunch and relocate him somewhere.

Have today off. God I needed it or I was going to stab someone.

OMG. I finally got someone to get back to me about trimming Gus and he might be able to make it today! If not early next week.
Forget about paying to send your kids to college, have them be farriers instead. The demand is unbelievable, and I figure they probably make $150/hour for time actually working.

What is a person to do when a huge 8lb of good looking onions is cheaper than an iffy looking 3lb bag in the grocery store? Well, while I know that I won't be able to use up that many onions by myself I bought the big bag. And now I am looking how to use even more onions than I already do. Today that means I will have onion soup for dinner. Yum (I hope) as this is an untested recipe!!! You buy the big bag and then make french onion soup. Or you give some onions to friends

I just found a flyer on my front door promoting an area business, "Angelo's Texas Halal Pizza". I think that name pretty much sums up Houston in 4 words

Lord if it ain't one thing or another.
Dhs phone went off with a text and it's J threatening to quit on my dad again.
I don't give a fuck it's between them and whatever happens happens.
It would be sad but we've made it almost four years the average is five so it wasn't a failure.
He has enough on my mom's SS to pay bills and his old employer is always trying to get him back.
She's the one that is screwed. Good luck finding a job that let's you pull the shit he does. She's so much like my brother it's insane.
But DH feeds off it. I already had to listen to him last night.
And we cover on Sunday. So I'll have to listen to her then and listen to DH until we go to bed and probably well into Monday.
Ugh. Just make a decision already!
I know this sounds like me feeding on it too but I'm trying what the therapist suggested of examing it then putting it in a bubble to float away.
You guys are my bubble.😁

So far I'm winning on the American Girl doll. One more day.
I'm pretty stoked. I love when I can get the girls that one thing they really want.
Yeah eventually the doll won't be interesting but the memory remains. I still cherish the memory of my parents getting me a bike for Christmas rather than making me wait till summer. I still have my leather winter coat they got me when I was 16. It fits too.
I'm not going to beat up people on Black Friday for one but I don't mind tossing my hat into an auction or staying up for the sale to start at midnight online.

Ever since I decided to list the house, I have been busy, busy, busy. The neighbor behind me says they would like to buy it and propose to pay for an appraisal. Super. But that was two days ago, and I am still waiting for them to tell me when the appraiser is supposed to come. Meanwhile, I am proceeding as if they aren't buying it and fixing it up to sell. Yesterday I finished pruning the hydrangeas, put a coat of kilz on some basement shelving that had water stains from a leaky pipe to the refrigerator (pipe fixed years ago), and washed a few windows/curtains. Today I put the second coat on the shelving. I discovered a gallon of paint (white, the color of the shelving) marked "bathroom cabinets" from before I renovated that bath. It is half full. Nice way to use some of it up! Working in the basement is depressing because DH is the one that painted those shelves in the first place. And all his models and model kits are down there, waiting for me to do something with them. I don't have time to find them a good home so they will go to the church yard sale to be saved until then. But I have to box them up and I have no boxes . . . On a brighter note, I may have found a house in the community I want to live in. But I can't move forward until this house is sold. Confession time: I am turning in my YM card. I am going to take the difference between what I get for this house and the cost of a new house from my Roth and pay cash. I may take a small portion from my regular IRA instead, but it is the same principle. I don't want to restart a mortgage when I am 2 years away from paying this one off. Plus, this one has a $315 month HOA fee (covers roofing and other outside maintenance of the house as well as lawn service, pest control, washing windows, recreational facilities, etc.) That and insurance/taxes will be $500-$600 a month. That's very manageable on just my SS/pension. I think I will hire a house cleaner for once a month, too. I talked it over with my daughter, and she said she agreed. It is my money, and she would rather I spend it now on something that will make my life better than save it for a nursing home. There will still be over $450k in there so it is doable. I love my daughter!

Sounds like a solid plan Susan.
If you were interested a nursing home might take the model kits. I've been taking mom's puzzles up when I go. It's a fast way to get rid of them and there is a resident I know who is obsessed with puzzles. She's thrilled to get new ones.

Last night the Toddler decided he had something he needed to tell his aunt. His dad sent a text to see if I was available to talk to him. Of course I was. He needed to tell me about his bedroom at the new house. They took him over on Monday (Victoria Day) so they could select paint colors. He couldn't wait any longer to tell me what color he picked. He will have a yellow bedroom. It's so great to be loved by a 3 year old.

Now for some experimenting as I have the ingredients Cook’s Illustrated has a good recipe for French Onion soup. It makes about 6 servings (the number of bowls I have). This is pretty close, but it calls for Asiago cheese. Really? Gruyère all the way! www.food.com/recipe/french-onion-soup-the-cooks-illustrated-way-344164

Thanks Mich. I have to look at that recipe and see if I can pare that down to 2 servings max. I agree with you on the cheese as that was my main complaint about last night's version - I have no gruyere in the house.

Like I said a month or so ago when I was made aware that it was coming, I was glad that this particular lady was the one handling it. We got to know each other when worked on an ergonomics team together years ago, way before she went into management. So I had no issue with her (or anybody) just doing their job when they talked with me about my attendance, I was just relieved to be dealing with someone that wasn’t going to be an asshole and upset my nerves. Idk if I would’ve started crying or cussing, but either way wouldn’t have been good. And it probably sounds crazy to people that work in civilized places, that that was even a concern, but we absolutely do have managers that don’t know how to talk to people without being a smart ass or just ugly. I had the nerve to give a supervisor a form today, taking tomorrow and Saturday off work. I was supposed to be on vacation this week and next week, but I didn’t have enough leave for the whole 2 weeks, so I just asked for those 2 days. I’m off Sunday anyway because it’s my holiday and falls within my vacation. So when I gave it to him, he said “you’ve BEEN on vacation!” And that’s the kind of smart remarks I don’t want to deal with. Because I haven’t been on vacation, I’ve been fucking sick, and when I’ve not been at work, I’ve been in my house afraid to go anywhere because of the pain and because I’m afraid to be more than a few feet from a bathroom. I have the leave to take the 2 days, and it’s within the time I signed up for on the vacation list, which means you can’t disapprove it, so just sign the damn thing and STFU. I’m not explaining anything, because it won’t matter and I don’t want my business all over the building. I know a bit about how you feel because some managers and coworkers say stupid stuff like that and believe it. Being sick is not a vacation. And if its really bad, its much harder than an average to crappy day at work. No surprise that it appears some half days were coded in as vacation not sick. So I don't know if it is worth it, I don't get paid again until the beginning of June, and I think hours would be coded in mid next week. Might see if I can get things coded as sick time like they should be and taking vacation days after the sick days are exhausted. You don't come back when they expect you to, so to them you are on vacation. Vacation would be more fun. And I would have a car or something. People and their biases, reality be damned.

JFC with my mom and sister. Sister called 15 minutes ago asking the last time I heard from mom. Ummmm, Tuesday. We don't talk everyday. Sis said she got a call from mom, mostly because mom watches her kids, that mom was headed to the hospital because her doctor thought she may have a brain bleed. Silence since then. A 30 second talk with dad and everything is fine, no brain bleed just bad headache. Why sister couldn't call dad I don't know. But I damn sure did not need this stress after losing my aunt last week.
