seeking laundry/cleaning fairy whizzes (oh, missrigby.....?) and apologizing in advance for a little bit of TMI. [img src="//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/embarrassed.png" class="smile" alt="[img class="smile" alt=" " src="//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/embarrassed.png"]"] I woke up super early again this morning, and discovered a near crime scene. I'm feeling like as I approach menopause, my body is just taking all possible opportunities to flip me off b/c I've never really had a horrific experience with Aunt Flo until once in awhile the past year or so. so I feel a lot guilty about complaining at all here....but. anyway! sheets and clothes have been hanging out in soapy water sinks after getting pre-treated with a magic chemical, and they will be fine after a bath in the washer. but I've got spots on my soft top mattress. what's the best way to clean that? and, i'm totally okay with having the thing air dry overnight and I'll sleep on the couch. I should have posted this question this morning, oops. The more I think about it the more I’m like who TF thought this was an acceptable system in the first place ? I refuse to believe there wasn’t a better way to ensure the survival of the human race...or any other mammals for that matter Periods suck. for real! I'll try to find a transcript or video, if I can remember the comic's name. but there was some stand-up skit that included a line about firing the civil engineer that designed the female body - with a recreation center set up right next to a toxic waste !

I have to figure out how much cash we need for all the various tips on our Alaska trip which means going through the documents line by line and seeing who's included, who's isn't, and how much is recommended for those. I know the cabin steward etc need tips for the cruise portion, obviously the driver to and from the airport, and probably a fair number of the step-on guides during the trip. All in all, maybe $500-$600 cash in small bills. I'll team up getting that with pulling the passports from the safety deposit box so only 1 trip to the bank.

Has anyone heard from empress of self-improvement? The last time she posted life was sad. I just want to check and make sure she is okay.

Just finished watching 90-Day Finance, The Other Way, Tell All Part 2 with DH. Now he knows why it's called the Tell All. Including a very detailed description of the procedure for creating a male organ for a trans person, and how it functions during sex. I feel really bad for Jenny I wouldn't move in with my husand's family either, to take care of them.

Went for a really log walk to the Salvation Army, carrying a heavy bag which contained a lot of stuff, including a cast-iron pot. I didn't think I'd make it. I sat in the park for a while and had to buy a bottle of water. I never, never, never buy bottled water but I had to, as I had to. I was feeling light-head. I made it. It's so nice to be able to walk again.

Next week with Gabe's sister Monica is going to be fire for sure

Mister has been on one since this morning. Baby Sister and her DH decided to bring Dad home Thursday instead of today. This morning Dad was telling Mister somewhere he wants to go when he gets home. Which brought up the issue that nobody thinks he should be driving. Which led to how Mister feels like if his Dad can’t drive anymore, they need to get rid of the vehicle he bought last summer. Between the high interest rate and high insurance (Brother is on the insurance), that’s $700 every month for it to sit in his driveway.
Brother has hinted that he wants it, but Mister isn’t going for that unless Brother finances it in his own name so it won’t affect Dad (or Mister) if he doesn’t make the payments. If he can’t pay $60 to get the grass cut, idk how he’ll be able to make a car payment. He isn’t allowed to drive Dad’s vehicle, because he rear ended somebody in Mom’s car last year, and IIRC, had an incident in Dad’s car. Then Dad and Mom were in a wreck in Dad’s car, but Dad was not at fault, and that’s the insurance settlement I’ve mentioned before. So both cars were wrecked, which is why Dad bought another vehicle last year.
Mister was fussing about Brother today too. He’s over Brother not helping with anything, using the excuse that he just gets so upset missing their Mom. Mister doesn’t want to hear that anymore, and I don’t blame him. He has way more free time than Mister, who works at least 10 hours/day, and he lives for free in their parents’ house. But he can’t help with any of the shit that has to be done, not even making calls or gathering information or whatnot. I’d be mad at him too. Well, I’m kinda mad at him anyway, on Mister’s behalf.
So with all the stuff Mister has been ranting about today, I understand why he’s been an angry bear all day.

Then take wet cloth or sponge and use that to wipe it off with a bit of detergent or Dawn and rinse it all off. Let it air dry. Then go buy a waterproof mattress pad and put it on the mattress.

At my appointment this morning, she told me to try the FODMAP diet or something like that. She gave me a chart of foods to avoid or enjoy and pay attention to how I feel after eating something on the avoid side. The foods to avoid have something (I forgot exactly what and I’m too lazy to go get the paper) that triggers gut issues for some people. A lot of them are vegetables and fruits. I remember cabbage, brussel sprouts and broccoli being on the “avoid” side. And onions and garlic. I’ve been keeping a food diary, and there still seems to be no rhyme or reason regarding what I eat. But the chart she gave me also listed some ingredients on the avoid side. This seems to be a more organized way of trying to see if certain foods or ingredients are triggers for me. She said doctors can run all the tests (and they have) and try different medicines, and sometimes gut issues are as basic as our diet. She remembered that last time I saw her she said I might have to have another colonoscopy, but she wants to try this first. I actually like her, and I wish I’d gone to her in the beginning instead of wasting so much time with the first one. I believe if I’d gone to her first back in August, this would’ve probably been figured out by now. She responded to a message I sent her after my first visit, by calling me herself. The total opposite of the other one, who just left me hanging for 5 months. So, no voodoo and needles for now, please, but keep them handy. LOL! Whe I was having all my GI issues, I was fine until the third day after eating potatoes. Just something to keep in mind that you may not develop symptoms right away. Some things can be cumulative, too. This doc sounds much better already!

I had injured my left knee a month ago. I was doing rehab exercises in hopes of getting it better. Instead, it got worse. I've been off exercise for the past two weeks. I ordered a TENS digital therapy machine recommended by my cousin who used it on her shoulder, tendon injury. She got relief after one use. I got relief after one use. What a difference.
I was surprised at how my mental health was affected. I avoided doing almost everything except cooking and dishes. Such a change to today where I could walk mostly easily and got the house cleaned. Laundry done. De clutter some papers. I continue to be careful on stairs and getting in and out of the shower. My GFs H. is having circulatory problems with both of his legs. I'm sure this would help him.
My suggestions like this usually are not well received so I'll say nothing.

Some things can be cumulative, too. This doc sounds much better already! She did say that one thing on the list might not cause issues by itself, but if I have several things on the list in one day, it can cause issues. So, the plan is, when my stomach acts up, make a note of which things on the avoid list I had the day before, if any. Because my issues always start in the middle of the night or very early in the morning, when I haven’t eaten since dinner. And over time, I might be able to figure out what foods might be triggers, alone, in combination, or eventually. I sincerely appreciate you and the other posters sharing your experiences, advice and empathy this whole time. I agree that she does seem like a much better doctor already. She actually talks to me, asks questions, and writes down my answers. I feel like she’s treating me like an actual person, and not just chart number 12345. The only reason I remember that cabbage, broccoli and brussel sprouts are on the “avoid” list is because she pointed them out on the chart she gave me and said she hasn’t been able to eat any of them for 2 years, because they make her so miserable that it’s not worth it to eat them, even though she likes them. And she said her husband has the most amazing recipe for brussel sprouts and she gets so sad when he cooks them, because she can’t eat it. So maybe having had her own issues helps her understand what her patients are going through with gut issues. Or maybe she was already that kind of person before her own experiences.

I was hospitalized with gastric issues, and I was in a hospital where you can order food from a big menu. The food was really good. I ordered Thai food, and then I got a call from the kitchen..."No cabbage! Order something else."

Pink, I was on the FODMAP diet before I had my gallbladder out since my gallbladder didn't present like that issue usually does. Yes. some foods are cumulative and it takes a few days or times to figure out what the problem food was. I am lactose intolerant and once we figured that out, I saw a big improvement until the gallbladder came out. There are some excellent FB groups on FODMAP. I had to leave the gallbladder one I joined because the people that posted had big time problems before and after surgery. I guess I thought the after surgery issues were contagious.

DS just called, crying and panicking. He had an MRI a few days ago, and now his doctor wants to see him immediately, tomorrow. His doctor works in the oncology department, and DS is freaking out. "If I have cancer, I'll kill myself!!' Nothing I say calms him down.

When I was in perimenopause, my stuff got so crazy that I started sleeping with a bath towel on top of my sheets. I could use all the super duper products I could find, and even double up, and still wake up to a mess. It lasted weeks instead of days, and would often go away and come right back in a few days. I never knew what to expect. And I had bad cramps, when that had never been an issue for me. It was beyond HORRIBLE. I started having issues in my late 30’s, and it got much worse before it got better. “Better” meaning menopause, when all of that craziness finally stopped. I have officially been in menopause since April of 2020, when I was in my late 40’s. I struggle with aging sometimes, but being done with all that bullshit is one part of aging that I am very, very happy about.

Mister is obviously in a mood. YD took some ground beef out of the freezer to thaw today, before she left to go with OD to wherever. I asked Mister what he planned to do with the ground beef and he said he didn’t know, he’s just told YD to take something out of the freezer to thaw out for dinner. He seemed irritated when I asked him about plans for the ground beef. And that irritated me When we first moved here, I was in charge of the groceries and the meals. Mister lost 11lbs the first month we lived here. Then his daughters started being here every day and he started eating what they liked and my efforts to provide healthy meals started to be me wasting money, so I mostly gave up and started eating the same meals they did. I’m not blaming any of them for that, I understand that it was still my choice to stick to a better diet for me, or not, regardless of whatever the people closest to me and in my household did. I feel like unless you specify what meat to take out, you need to just deal with what you get. You forfeit your right to be pissy with what's taken out. Especially being pissy with a 3rd party that had nothing to do with it.
