So, we are selling DD's old Subaru Legacy Limited. It is a 2017 but it has 151,000 miles on it. It has lots of features including eye sight. I posted the car, features and pictures of outside. A guy texted me this am, asked for interior pics and vin. Just texted back and said they would purchase car. I priced at mid point of Private Party. I made the mistake of mentioning to my SIL that it would be a good car for her on Sunday. She texted me this am that her Husband wants to come look at it tonight if we haven't sold it already. I don't know if they are thinking they can buy it cheap or what. DH thinks they don't have the $$ to buy the car. I tried to call DH to ask how to respond, but no answer (he is working). So I texted him and asked what to do. Simple I think. Tell her you have someone will pay your price who is interested, and it is whatever the price is. I'd go for one, but it is above my current price point. Here it looks like they range from $12K to probably above $20K depending on features, etc. (FWIW my poor BMW has less than 15K miles more than that but is a 2002.)

Now the "renter" has pulled in the old motorhome at the house and hooked it up. I told hubs in 2 weeks probably have to get the judge to have that thing removed too. My oh my, racking up the attorney hours for us too. The estimate was $1k, I imagine that bill is raising, sigh. No good deed goes unpunished, trying to roll with it, but like I told the attorney, I have a temper and it's getting hard to control. A 40s something able woman doing that to herself is nuts. I think her family and DD are done with her. She has a smart daughter and she tried to go to college one semester, she couldn't do it. She ended up married and her hubs joined the military, they also took his infant DD from another wife? or girl friend. They moved to N Carolina I believe. Honestly, she is better off away from her mom who I think is a hypochondriac. She has had good job after good job and never lasted long, I heard she was too unreliable to keep. I think now her work history is so bad no one will hire her, she did it to herself. She even got a CNA and supposedly quit that job because she wasn't bringing covid home to her daughter?? I don't think she has had a decent job since. I so hope that girl can get an education, what a waste. The renter is going somewhere each night, we know she has sat with the elderly before and done housecleaning so we are guessing she is doing that for some money. We did all we could do to help and we are done. So hope we don't have to deal with pulling the motorhome off. Wow, you are really having a tough time with her. Moving an old motorhome to the house is really ballsy. You say she "hooked it up" but to what? Electrical? Water? Is this running up a bill you will be stuck with? Is this the tenant who had the teenage daughter you would have taken care of if anything happened to the tenant? You will likely get a money judgment for back rent, and your lease probably says you are entitled to attorney fees and costs, but if she has no money you are drilling a dry hole. You've been very patient. I can see why your temper is getting hard to control.

Today is one of those “decade birthdays” for me. I really should just think of it as one more step closer to retirement. I won’t post my age, but DH starts his SS after his birthday next month and he is a few years older than me. He is semi-retired, already and his SS check is not that much due to not paying into SS much over the years. But that may be our only “raise” this year.

Back home from the dentist. Three cavities filled on one side. Go back in two weeks to fill one on the other side. Luckily they weren't too deep and they were caught early. Only took about 30 minutes.
Very scatterbrained at the moment. End of the school year. Start of summer. Dance recital. Two birthdays. A lot of balls to juggle over the next 4 weeks. And that's not including work or any of the regular yard and house chores. I get tired just thinking about it!

I just turned the heat back on. this morning, the meteorologist said it's going to drop into the 30s overnight tonight. WTF? I'm supposed to go hang out with my friend S tonight, her DH rented a hot tub for her birthday week and tonight's the last night they have it. I'm not so sure I'm up for it today, it's f'ing cold today.

Scheduled an internet tech for tomorrow as everything is bad. Usually me and my working vehicle go to the library to get around the yearly spring failures. Maybe their equipment is too old and fried? Of course the new doctor's practice conglomerate keeps sending texts to "confirm some details". Not happening. Already confirmed with the practice yesterday over the phone and have confirmed my ride and pickup time. Does not look like I'll be able to cram in that blood draw before tomorrow. Would have liked to get that done, but I'll see if my buddy in the complex can get me to a nearby lab Friday or whenever. I will be so happy when I can move somewhere that I get a choice of at least two internet providers. Or doesn't have wiring over 50 years old.

nice and cool here but wicked dry humidity wise. Getting readings of 25 to 27% humidity. Will probably delete this after lunch. Just reminding myself to be careful as it is very low humidity for May given we are not in the 80s or higher.

Happy Birthday alabamagal! There are so many beach-themed cakes now, that it was difficult to choose, so I hope you like this one:

So much, that I asked if we could just skip May and move right into June. From late April-end of May we have 5 family birthdays and mother's day. The girls school thought it would be prudent to schedule an informational meeting 2.5 weeks before school is done. We were given 1 week notice.
We are going to blink and summer is going to be gone. And we are not even doing all that much. I really just need the grind to be less grindy for a while.

Well, today did not turn out how I expected. We anchored in Ullapool, Scotland today. We drove through the Scottish Highlands to visit Singleton of Glen Ord. This is a distillery that makes most of the scotch in the area. They receive 210 tons of barley/week, prepare it, then farm it out to other distilleries as well as distill their own scotch.
It was a fascinating process to watch, and we went through from prepping the barley to distillation to storing in casks. And tasting, of course. We left the facility with 3 more bottles of scotch. This is added to the 4 TD bought in the duty free shop in Indonesia to use up local currency. Packing is going to be interesting, as well as getting through customs. Don’t volunteer any info. If they ask if you have alcohol, say yes but don’t tell how much, and hope they don’t ask! They usually don’t as they hate paperwork as much as we hate paying.
Back on board time was 5 pm, last tender was at 4:30. At 5 pm, we were behind a horrible bus vs semi accident that shut down traffic. We finally managed to get through, but the tender had to wait for us, we boarded and then took off. We were only about 90 min late. I think that’s the latest we have ever been.
Tomorrow the Orkneys, we are getting bombarded by rain and the seas are pretty rough. I’m doing laundry this evening. I’m out of long pants.

I'm having drinks with a senior neighbor tonight in her backyard so my kids can't find me. We'll visit and catchup. Might be something you try with Mrs T. It's nice to look fwd to and helps me carve out time for myself.

The "tenant" is trying to get someone to let her park the motorhome in their yard? and hook up to their electric. One guy came by to talk to hubs about a car issue and was telling him she was trying to get his wife to let her do that. He said no way, that will drive our electric bill up.
The idiot woman won't try to get out of this town in the middle of nowhere so she can get a job. Maybe she really is a mental case, something is wrong for sure. There is no work here and she has no relatives here in this town, so what is the issue??
Hubs said don't worry by the next Tuesday if she isn't gone the sheriff will make her leave, that was what the judge told her. And if she tries to come back there they can arrest her for trespassing. Hubs is going to be gone so he said the next day have the electric turned off. We don't want to have the water turned off as it could cost us a big deposit to get the meter back. She has the utilities in her name so we are not responsible for those bills. I just want to make sure she can't sneak in and use it. He bought me 2 new door knob sets so I can change the locks on the house while he is gone.
We don't want a judgment nor any money, we just want her gone. So she has no plates on her car we bought, the insurance we paid on it runs out the first of June. Now she has a motorhome that needs gas, plates, someplace to hook it up. I don't get it, hubs says she doesn't know how to work. I think she just doesn't want to work and keeps trying to find some guy to keep her. But the ones she hooks up with have nothing. You could sure make your life a hellhole. She only survived there those 8 years using the money from SS for her DD until she turned about 16 or 18 and was cut off. I can see her as homeless, just wow.
Lot of people have tried to help her but doesn't do any good.
We will be fine, but it sure would have hurt us if that was a house we had payments on. Still it has cost us. Eviction costs we can deduct off taxes, but don't think we can lost rent, need to look that up.

It won't happen. They're been threatening to separate for about 100 years. As far as joining the US? That's laughable.

Made another batch of marinated tomatoes for dinner. This time I did balsamic glaze. DH ate all the other ones. I had a few for dinner one night and then poof, they were gone. Which is surprising. Because DH doesn't care for tomatoes by themselves. He also doesn't care for basil or Italian dressing. Which is what I used in the last batch. He also says he doesn't care for balsamic vinegar. But, he has already tasted the tomatoes. Multiple times.
Sone days I just smile and nod at him.

Join the US? That's pretty funny.

My little project is mostly done, except for some minor tweaks and Mister doing whatever he’s going to do to keep the critters out. It’s a relief to have that done. Nothing I did is permanent, so we can easily expand it next year if we want to, or even remove it. The most difficult part about removing it would be hauling all the rocks away. In all my years of being a homeowner, this is the first time I’ve ever done something like this. DS told me look at you, you had a vision and made it come to life. I’m kinda proud of myself.

Gardening, at its core, is really about having a vision and working to make it reality. There's always so much frustration along the way whether it's snails, squirrels, drought, or blight, but it begins with hope and a dream. Gardening is never about today, it's about tomorrow, next season, and next year, so it lifts us up when today is hard.

Fly by posting. Aunt is hanging on, but likely a matter of time. Mom is upset because she has to call the nurse to get info. Sorry, but Aunt's kids are worthless. They lived 20 minutes from the nursing home and let their mom eat that nasty food and were more than happy to leave her to lay in a bed because it made her dependent. Mom and I visited her in 2018. She could not even sit up in bed at that time. Mom made the staff get her into a wheelchair and wheeled her around herself - and dealt with the motion sickness herself. Within 6 months of that visit aunt was able to get out of bed and into a wheelchair by herself, and was able to live on her own since then.
Making sure mom is ok, but I broke down on the phone with DH last night. She almost certainly will not make it to our next birthday (6/11). That saddens me greatly. And more than likely there is a very personal hand written birthday card for me in her apartment. 💔
I appreciate the prayers and good thoughts, and send hugs to those that need them.
I'm not a hugger IRL, but after watching the Orioles' catcher last night (he's a big time hugger) I was wishing I was on the receiving end of such a genuine hug/ love. I'll be home with DH tomorrow night and will feel much better. It just sucks being out of town on my own while all of this is going on.
