Abby asked me last night if someone lost their taste and smell thanks to COVID would that it make it easier to poison them since that person wouldn't be able to taste or smell what you put in their drink. I said I'm not answering that and remind me to never drink anything you offer me from here on out.

Definitely needs big-time updates but incredible potential - and the back is amazing. I love the whole mid-century vibe but would need a 2nd bath for sure Yeah, I told DH that there was a good chance the windows were not double pane/insulated windows, so those also probably needed updating. Loved the lot/setting and exposed/lannon stone back side of the house. That's the ONLY thing I liked about it.

We got our homeowner's insurance bill in the mail, and it has increased by $300 over last year, so I've begun calling around to see if I can do any better. So far, the cheapest deal I've found with the same coverage is an additional $400 more than my new bill. It might be a good year to invest in insurance funds. My insurance agent couldn't find a package that would cost me any less with the same coverage, so I stuck with what I had.

We were forced to change as our then-current carrier Hartford, cancelled us when we placed the house in a revocable trust last year. We found a great independent agent who placed the house with Sagesure and the cars with Progressive. Good coverage, same cost. It's challenging to find coverage on the Texas Gulf coast where we are subject to tropical storms, hurricane and catastrophic flooding. Many companies are no longer writing policies for homes like ours, one-story, built in 1959. They only do the new 2-story, all brick stuff.

P/C insurance increases are largely due to the increase in tornados, storms and wildfires. Another outcome of global warming.

P/C insurance increases are largely due to the increase in tornados, storms and wildfires. Another outcome of global warming. So far this year we've seen tornadoes in California, historic Mississippi River flooding, numerous tornado outbreaks across the South and Midwest and more. Mudslides will follow in many areas deforested areas. The property loss costs are rising and we all pay.

I have lots to unpack after today, I'm finally home. 5min short of 2h to get home, this is definitely not going to be a regular thing. but, the Irish guy came in and started with "let's talk about the elephant in the room - in-person time..." and proceeded to tell us that our "site" has the best metrics of any of our sites, however you want to measure them. and then, that he's not checking badge swipes and doesn't feel that 2x/wk is a hard requirement, but that it won't be a 'never' thing. so, I need to figure out how much I want to argue this point. chatting with the rest of my team, I'm seeing how little the sites I manage have in common with the upstream ones they all do. our deviations aren't even remotely similar for what could possibly go wrong in our respective types of processing.
right now, I'm exhausted. I'm going to park myself out on the deck with a cocktail and hang out with the pups for a little bit. I stopped and picked up a box of Kraft dinner for tonight, b/c that's about the level of my remaining brainpower tonight. happy Monday.

Got my flowers and shrubs watered and fed and the front porch hosed down, so that's done.
Came in fixed hubs dinner, fried cabbage, kielbasa, celery, bell peppers, onion all mixed together. So good. He didn't eat all of it so I ate the rest. Going to make DD a bit of veggie stir fry, she likes that, was going to make it for her and I but finished the other instead. I have to cook some rice. She said she wasn't hungry yet, she ate a late lunch so a bit later.
Then I trimmed DD's nails, washed her hair, put drops in her ears, will for a few days then clean. And brushed her teeth, so she is in good condition.
Tech called about my eye appointment and we updated all of that info.
Have one load of clothes to dry.
Ran my I Shark today so floor is swept. I mopped the tile parts and the bathrooms. I bought a mopping system, DIL, had one similar and I like it. It's a small bucket and mop. Has a section for clean water and solution, you turn a knob and it fills the next compartment. You dip the mop in that compartment and pull it in and out, it wets it and drains the dirty water off the mop into another compartment. So keeps the water clean, I like it. It's called Top Tier Product 3 X mop. Going to mix up the cleaner for my hardwood and do those later.
I threw away some old stuff from the freezer, not much. Hubs and I decided not to buy meat till I come back. I found some pork chops, a small turkey, some ham for beans, pack of hamburger, and may be some other items out there I'm going to try and make meals out of. If need be we will pick up some odds and ends of meat. Will supplement with fresh and try using up all I can from my pantry.
So I have accomplished quite a bit today. And I have a Tigger cat snuggled up beside me. Need to get some orange juice to drink too about ready for my bath.
Tomorrow make hair appointments, chiro for DD appt, and move her neurologist appointment.

Looking for a Sony Walkman type cassette player - anyone have any thoughts of where I might find one online? I have some cassettes I'd like to listen to while working around the house or walking, etc. a.co/d/abyAke0

Happy Mother’s Day Everyone! Very busy weekend for us, next weekend will be a repeat of this weekend as one of my nephews will be visiting from Minnesota. We will be celebrating my FIL’s 81st Birthday. I am doing a squat challenge this month. Today was 130 squats. You rest every 4th day. Last day is the 30th 250 squats. I should also be doing sit ups, but baby steps. I hope everyone is feeling well. DS’s girlfriend is really struggling with spring allergies. Girl! You're not going to know what to do with all that booty! If you keep consistent you're going to have some serious cake.

Well its morning and time to get done what I did not do over the weekend. Zip pics, email to AAA case manager Write out something sensible for the report, email that out as well. Talk to G at my usual garage, see what he thinks of the estimate pics and what that means to me in additional damage to my car that wasn't there when I made the call for the tow. Email that estimate to AAA. Find out if I am getting an actionable estimate from the body shop today that I can use. Hopefully email that to AAA case manager by COB today. If possible, combine all that in one monster email that actually gets delivered most likely after 5 PM today. Speak to #2 in HR and get some clarity. I know my doctor's appointment is at an unfortunate time, but it is before the final deadline I was given. Because I was not yet enrolled in all the many programs in the practice I was unable to get an earlier appointment. Weirdly the scammy looking, have an earlier appointment please text word of the moment seems to have stopped. There were three alleged earlier appointment before the one I had last week. However, each time I had to get a hold of my ride and see if it was even doable. I responded to one. I was either too late (likely) or confirmed to some scammer I use the phone. (Also likely to me.) This practice has almost as many numbers as AAA . Oh and I have to follow up on the fact it appears I hit the 5 tow limit in a year because AAA tow failure. There should have been three successful tows in the calendar year. The last one would have been in a parallel universe where my car actually was safely and successfully put on the tow bed and taken in for fixing the window. Then in the beginning of June, my calendar year rolls over and no harm no foul. Accomplished almost none of this due to tech issues with internet, MS windows software push plus weirdness on my phone. Did briefly speak to the body shop. Not sure if he emailed me anything or he will do so in the morning. His hours I think start around 7 and end about 3. Had to email #2 as well after she left as nothing wants to work well today for some reason. Even the phone is all talky about the new updates from the OS update I needed to do.

I am happy tomorrow and next week's training can be done from my home and don't start until 9-930.
The June one that's west coast based is going to mess up my schedule. I didn't feel like traveling out there though.

I'm anxious to get our new beds. I love sitting up reading in bed and all we have right now is the flat one. I'm sleeping on the couch which is super comfy, but trade places in the AM with hubs so he can watch the news in here. I go back to sleep pretty quickly.
Having a hard time falling asleep, this morning last half prednisone pill, so hoping it improves over the next week. I lay there from 2 till 4 listening to the grandfather clock chiming, sigh. Also had crazy dreams off and on about having a huge house with several swimming pools, heated ones, cool ones, and shallow like smaller hot ones or something. I was having parties, none of it made any sense, so not sure what was going on. Probably the pills doing that. I'm done with them all, so that should go away.
Now I have 2 kitties camped out with me, one by my feet, the other on the recliner back.
Going to mop their room and quit for the day. House looks pretty clean.
Hubs laid out the vinyl baseboard to acclimate in the basement, expect him to do half of that tomorrow. It really looks nice down there, will look better soon. We did move furniture we could have used down there though, but it will be fine.

DS and I worked for hours today on the space for my gardening container. It was HOT. The forecast said it would get up to 90° today, idk what the high ended up actually being.
Soon after Mister got home from work, he got a call that upset his nerves. Idk the details, but it had to do with his Mom’s estate. About an hour after that, he got another call that had to do with the fallout from his Mom’s death, and his nerves got even more upset.
He finally sat down to play his video game and try to relax, and OD called him because she has a flat tire. DS pretty much insisted on going with him, with the intention of changing the tire himself, to try to take something off Mister’s plate. DS could even tell that Mister has been very unhappy these last couple of hours, and he wanted to try to do something to help Mister feel better. So going to change the tire was something DS felt like he could do for him.
Mrs. T brought over plates and desserts and aluminum foil this afternoon, like she insisted last night she was going to do. I didn’t fuss, I was gracious and told her thank you. I am looking forward to diving into those plates now lol.
DS is spending the night tonight and we are getting up early to try to finish my project. We had been measuring this and that, and remeasuring because we missed something the first time, and counting pavers and crap, until both our brains were so full of numbers we couldn’t keep track anymore. I told him if I’d been doing it by myself, I would’ve already been crying or in the house saying just forget it. Or both lol.
I’m tired and ready to go to bed, but I’m going to stay up until they get back home

One thing that’s come out of Mister dealing with so much after his Mom passed, is that he understands now what I’ve always said about us needing to have our stuff squared away legally, whether we get married or not. He just mentioned it again a couple days ago.
I suggested then (again) that we find an attorney or attorneys to handle his parents’ stuff and stuff for my Mom, and to handle our own estate planning. I am glad that he finally understands the importance of what I’ve been saying for awhile now, but of course I don’t like the part that it took his Mom passing for him to really start to get it.
His Mom’s stuff has gotten much more complicated that he expected and he is beyond overwhelmed trying to handle it.

I’m sorry it took his mom’s death to wake him up on stuff, but glad he’s getting it now. I know he’s struggling with all the crazy stuff in his mother’s business but there’s no better example of the bad stuff that comes down when you don’t adult on things.

I’m really leaky tonight because there’s a stray cat here that’s the spitting image of our beloved cat we euthanized last year. No we can’t and won’t but seeing him everyday is devastating

Everybody is fed, clean, and either watching telly or sacked out. Both cats are on my legs again. Tigger is not really fat, he is a big old tomcat, he is so much bigger than Smoke. I told hubs they must know I'm going to leave them here this time, they are hanging on me today. Hubs is good to them too, so they should be fine. I need to put flea treatment on both of them. We don't seem to be bothered with them here but it will also keep any ticks and other things off them so I need to do it.
I trimmed Smoke's nails and he didn't even wake up, but Tig saw the scissors and moved, LOL! I already did his the other day. Wait till he sees the flea stuff.

Gizmo went to the groomers this morning and I swear by his strut that he knows he looks extra good tonight - smells really nice too! He's curled up next to me with just the fur on his back lightly touching my leg. (I really need to figure out how to post pix here.)

I wasn't at all expecting to be up this late, but people started messaging me right before I was about to shut it down for the night. I think that's all finally quieted down now. I'm going to settle myself for the night and then rouse the pups for last outs. I have nothing on the calendar til 10am tomorrow (since the 9am breakfast isn't actually a call-in....) and I intend to wake up when my body wants to.
good night, kids!

DH and I just made plans to go away overnight Memorial Day weekend. How is Memorial Day only 1.5 weeks way?!
also, I ate something for dinner that’s not sitting too well. And it was a super bland dinner (chicken, veggies, mashed potatoes)! Ugh.

And it was a super bland dinner (chicken, veggies, mashed potatoes)! Ugh. Mister and I said a couple months ago that we would have a big BBQ for Memorial Day this year. I work weekends and most holidays, but I will be on vacation that week, to help put things together. But we haven’t said anything about it since then. He has been fretting about money for some months now, and my money is really funny, so Idk if we’ll do it, it’s up to him. His “broke” is not the same as my “broke”. I helped him learn how to better manage his money in our early years, things I learned from the posters here, and the result is that he can have 10’s of thousands of dollars readily available if he needs it, but if he can’t cash flow something, he’s “broke” and can’t afford it. I’m not upset about that, I actually appreciate it and think he’s smarter than me, because if I get in a bind, I will use my savings to help me out. So in that way, he has surpassed me, because it seems like the whole world will have to fall apart before he would use any money he’s tucked away. I would like to do something Memorial Day weekend though, even if it’s not a big thing. I’d just like for our children, my grandchildren and his niece, to come over and play with us.

My stomach issues have been so bad for so long, that I don’t wish those kind of issues on anybody I even halfway like. I hope you feel better soon.
