We won trivia today. TD and I have a new team…..another couple left over from the World Cruise. I think TD and I answered all the questions on our own. No prizes, but bragging rights.
Trivia only happens on sea days, and we only have one sea day on this cruise, so guess that’s the end of our team.
The Irish Sea isn’t playing nice today, gorgeous blue skies, but it’s quite choppy.
Tonight we have a party of other WC leftovers. I guess there are 28 of us. Nothing mentioned as to what it is, other we show up at 5 this evening. Cocktails? Probably. Dinner? Unknown. We did have a deal like this on our back to back to back cruise we took last year. There was a special dinner for us then.

I said some guy was cute at a restaurant. This was a while ago. T1 said she knew him and he had a GF. I about died. Nothing wrong about admiring/enjoying the beauty of a young person(but maybe keep it to yourself!!) Too often young people don’t know how beautiful they are I so thought this kid was mid 20s. I was wrong.

I misread as well, since she said the one neighbor pays her $30 for a week. $20 a day is good. Know your worth, kid! Yeah, the $30 started back during covid when kiddo had just turned 8. They're great neighbors so we're happy to continue giving them that deal. We often borrow their dog for post-school anxiety walks. He's her perfect therapy. She plans to make flyers and hand them out as she sees neighbors walking their dogs past our house. This also increases the chances that gigs are walkable for her and don't involve us driving. A mile isn’t that far on a bike. Is the new job bike rideable?

I swear to God if one more person tries to insult my intelligence because they never freaking learned how to count. Look at the tag it says 93-601 which means that your samples exist in that group. Maybe you need to go home and watch Sesame Street a few times then come back and do your damn job. Then if there is a tag but there is a hole it means someone has the sample. I did not "lose" the sample. Take your fat ass out of my area and GO FIND WHO HAS IT. I am so close to stabbing someone. I am glad I decided to take half a mental health day today.

I was wrong. LOL! The assistant cruise director is a young kid….maybe in his mid 20s? He runs trivia, and I made a comment under my breath about his ass (he’s a dancer) and the other woman in our group said ‘you just said what I’m thinking’. In my defense, he does wear his pants much tighter than 99.9% of the staff on this ship.

DD10 takes care of our neighbors elderly dog when they go on vacation. They pay her $30 for the week and a costco size bag of gummy bears. She loves this dog and will go sit for hours and read to them (plus I think she likes having their house to herself). We have a few more families interested and can use the first for references. Struggling with what to charge per day. The first one wants 4 visits per day. Going to meet them on Sat. They're almost a mile away in our neighborhood so someone will have to go with her at least the first few times. Does $20 seem about right? Want to undercut typical boarding and adult sitters but not be too cheap. I pay $25 per 30 minute visit for 2 easy dogs. The dog sitter can walk to my house. She comes twice a day when I have to travel and take DH with me.

I'm sleeping and sleeping. Not sleeping good till about 4AM then today up at 7. Then went back to bed at 8, didn't wake up till noon. This has got to stop, I'm getting nothing done. Hubs is working and I feel guilty. I've been doing this almost 2 weeks now. I could go back to sleep right now.

Looking at the FMLA form, doing laundry and making calls about getting my blood drawn. Doctor gave me three things for homework, blood test(draw), the colon fecal thing now slightly different and a mammogram. The latter will probably need to wait until after I get to my next doctor's appointment, but I am will do my best to complete #1 and #2 (hah hah) before the appointment. Not looking forward to the weekend. Need to do paperwork and figure out what I have financially and whether I can afford to rent a car for a week. No rent a wrecks down here. Looked briefly at Turo, but the cheap ones are between $44 and $48/ a day. One of the rental car companies does pick up and drop off, so that might be the better option. Scared to find out what they charge now. Toyota Corolla is considered an intermediate car too.

I'm struggling to take care of my critters, and feed me three meals a day plus try to get 4 hours or more of sleep. Without my prescription helper which I rely on in Spring season. So I am at 3 to 4 hrs a sleep total in a night. Trying to go to bed before 11PM in hopes my two bits of sleep together will total 4 hrs. I know you have DD and the two cats. Except for your guilt, is it really a problem if temporarily your sleep is between 4AM and Noon?

These are the days that will make it difficult to WFH. DH is off today. I started working before 7AM, took a break at 930 after he got out of bed - mostly to give my eyes a break from the screen. He said some things that I answered minimally to, and feels neglected. MFer I am WORKING. He is so needy - says the woman who freaks out if he doesn't her in his sleep. ETA: it was taking a break in the "common area" that was the real issue.

My DD had to fight through that for years. Maybe you just need the rest.

My knee has been injured for a couple of weeks. I decided to tape it up and put an elastic support on to play pickleball. I'll ice hourly and rest it now.

On nights with little or no sleep, I just figure I'll stay in bed because at least my body is resting, and maybe my brain will follow suit. My meds changed recently and it may be affecting my sleep. I'm weird that way. Sudafed and Melatonin often make people sleepy but they have the opposite effect on me.

I'm weird that way. Sudafed and Melatonin often make people sleepy but they have the opposite effect on me. Me too. So do sleeping pills. However, I usually do not have problems sleeping, so it’s fortunate that I don’t need them. What DOES work for me (and what I used the other night after my fall) was a muscle relaxant plus narcotic. I don’t like to do that, but it was what I needed to do to recover from that damn fall and become mobile. I discovered this when I was having severe neck/shoulder spasms and was prescribed this combo. I was useless for the day, but it got that spasm to release so I could move my upper body.

With going to pain management, I'm not allowed any kind of narcotics. Have to be very careful about that.
I kicked myself into gear, finally. Hubs had swept one side of the basement and mopped with a rag type mop. I went over it on hands and knees and got it good and clean. I also cleaned an 8 foot table I will use for cutting fabric. My sewing room isn't quite big enough for all that so some of this will go in a corner out there. I am going to have to start sewing more tops and things. Nothing much down here, never had time to look at Olympia, but I will. I still need to sew to show hubs I appreciate the buildout he did for me 2 years ago.
I washed my mats from the car, but came in to cool off. I need to sweep it out and clean inside. DD emptied the waste baskets for me and has gotten her bath.
I have a big chonky kitty laying on my legs and feet, may grab him up and trim his big nails. He is becoming a big old Tom cat. He was crying last night when I put him in his bedroom. He still will not leave hubs door alone even after being gone a month so we have to put him in there. Smoke was laying beside me and would look at me each time he cried. So like usual he got up and went to the door, stretched and meowed for me to let him in. When I do there is not more crying. I'm sure they missed each other. Hubs said Tigger wouldn't eat much of anything, he did lose a bit of weight which is good.
I am sitting limits for doing things till I get off all these pills. I'm going to finish cleaning the car out. Then if I'm still ok, may start trimming my rose bushes and trimming my landscaping in front. I didn't get it cleaned last fall. Hubs siad we have had little rain so things haven't grown out like normal. He said it just got warm here the last week. I hope we don't have a long dry summer.
Hubs is working on the motorhome. He has a place he is fixing in the fiberglass and then going to paint a stripe all the way around where paint is chipped. We will have cleaning to do and drive it some before we can put it up for sale. Also all the pontoon boat needs is the rise button for the motor fixed. You can do it from the back with a manual button but needs done on the console. These are things we are doing go or stay. I appreciate we are going to downsize. It's less cluttered in here now. If hubs drives up again I have 2 area rugs for him to take and some other things.

And I figure we will just pick up something for dinner this evening instead of me cooking. I fixed dinner last night, was good.
Ok, back at it.

Amelia has stomatitis, which is an autoimmune disorder of the mouth. She will get continuous flares for the rest of her life. Lovely.
Eventually she will probably need teeth pulled because of it.
She didn't make a sound in the car, so we did get my chai.
It's funny. She hissed and hissed at Maddow after his trip to the vet. He hasn't hissed at her. When she had her dental, he didn't hiss at her when she came home.
Such different cats.

Gah, I don't know what to do. HR wants to talk to me on a call about FMLA. I don't want to because I am not focused and I have a hard time remembering most of what is said to me unless it is simple. Why is it so hard for some folks whose brains are working normally to do something out of their comfort zone. Explain what you think I need to know about FMLA in email. Add some Q's or something if you are craving that interaction or want to make sure I understand. I know you will think I am OK when I am not, because you can't see what you can't see and I haven't had much luck at getting people to get this in the past. I am not sleeping enough. Stop. Because of that my ability to do things is impaired. Stop. I cannot follow conversations on things I did not understand before I wasn't sleeping. Doing just one thing at a time on the my car is unexpectedly not driveable has been challenging enough. Where is my help? This is why I hate being unpartnered. Would it be so impossible lord to have a HR person finally get this? Just once?

Having a partner is not going to help you with HR. Unless you are laying in intensive care they need to speak with YOU. Maybe your FMLA should be for a depressive episode instead of sinus issues. I worked in a medical office for 30 years and our docs would not complete FMLA forms for what you are describing. Do you have a psychiatrist?

Opti - ask them for a bulleted email list that you will review over the phone. Let them know that verbal conversations are difficult so you want the list to help with that.

TheOtherMe I'm sorry Amelia's diagnosis wasn't a quick-fix thing, but an ongoing condition. Hopefully the vet gave you ideas for management and reducing her discomfort. Glad you got your chai

The weather forecast is for rain tomorrow morning so I'm guessing I'll get a little soggy during the free shred event the community association is hosting. At least the clouds may hold down the heat a bit-3 hours on black asphalt is brutal sometimes. I'm thankful for curry in the freezer so either way supper will be quick fix tomorrow night.
After laundry and cleaning Sunday morning, I'm going to start refreshing my Dropbox navigation skills so I can clear my inbox of the various photos, articles, and ads submitted for the next newsletter. I'm still giggling at a not-so-sharp guy who said in our last meeting that production would be much easier if we only produced a digital version and ditched the print one. Uh, sorry, the EXACT same effort goes into producing the base document whether it's published online only or online/print.
