It's not just encouraging them to vote...it's also showing them that they can rise to high places - VP and SCOTUS in the same year. Wowza, that will lift some ambitions. <sarcasm off> just in case it's not obvious

Grahams GITMO position, is, to put it bluntly, WRONG. if there is enough evidence to bring the 39 remaining prisoners (i am taking that number from him, btw) up on charges, then DO SO. if not, then LET THEM GO. we have had over 800 detainees in GITMO. over half were turned in on BOUNTY. they were not even ON THE FIELD OF BATTLE. our government waterboarded and killed over 100 men in detention in Afghanistan. there is nothing we can do to make up for that. but we can show our meddle by giving those in GITMO that have not yet been charged their day in court. so, fuck Lindsay Graham and fuck anyone who thinks like he does. i was done with his opinion, which i find disgustingly off center, ten years or more ago. Graham is putting on quite a show, refusing to let the judge answer questions he had just asked her about child porn, then once again storming out of the chamber. It seems like he wants to harass her in the same way Kavannah was harassed - but he doesn’t have anything like beer soaked frat house date rape to question her about, so he’s working up some frenzy on a few past cases. the fact that this is what his AUDIENCE wants to hear is, in some ways, worse than the attitudes he is expressing. if they are NOT his own, how awful of a person is that?

Oh I am sure they are his own. It's just now he doesn't have to worry about being "canceled" for it, in fact his base welcomes it. It must be refreshing for all those Republicans to step out of the racism closet and show their true selves rather than speak in code as in this example from McConnell: "I am going to work to make him a one term president".

Im not sure any of these longer term politicians believe anything they say. I get a sense it's all a part of some slimy chess game. That's what allows them to turn on a dime.

I think they do believe some of the things they say. And very few seem to change their minds about anything especially the longer they are in office. I think you can get an idea of what they believe in by looking at bills they are willing to sponsor.

I think the narrative changes you can't use the same lines you have been using since 1850. You have to dress them up for a new audience. They are absolutely the disgusting racist homophobic sexist pigs they make themselves out to be. And let's say they DON'T "believe" anything they say and they are only using it to solidify their power. That still makes them disgusting racist sexist homophobic pigs. Because if you truly weren't one then you wouldn't be saying the things that they do and would be standing against it rather than rallying behind it.

People like Mitch, I wonder if he has any interior compass whatsoever. I think it's all the chess game. That might be worse than operating on some warped sense of values. That's no values.

The key to politics is sincerity. If you can fake that, you've got it made. - something I learned as a poli sci major

They needed to buy it to support someone that is clearly ‘not one of them’ in any way, shape, or form. Incredibly deluded.

The former President who lost his reelection bid did struggle faking sincerity. If he hadn't, he would have had a second term made. And having thought about it, I think it was Boss Tweed for Tammany Hall who said it.

Some of the religious leaders are grifters just like him. I think that's why he bonded with some of them including that crazy Paula White lady.

A spammy looking link, but I did not realize she was on her third marriage nor that she had no seminary training. www.distractify.com/p/paula-white-scandalSome have also questioned her qualifications, because she does not have a formal seminary or college degree.

Maybe because it's not funny. I was watching NCAA men's basketball the other night and an announcer was talking about a former teammate who, when a free-throw was missed after a questionable foul call, would say, "Ball don't lie." I see this as the same universal principle.

That's no values. in ethics, we like to call this AMORAL. it doesn't mean you don't have morals. it means you don't ever exercise them, and that you are at the service of some OTHER guiding mechanism.

Incredibly deluded. the fact that they made a pact with someone who is amoral is a rather odd choice. why won't the religiosos align with people that AT LEAST have a compass?

I am so sad that SNL does not have a new show this week. So much good material that they could be using.

I know a couple of strong Christians that did not get fooled into believing Trump was Christian or had any respectable morales or values. However, he was supporting and executing policies that they supported and that supported their Christian values - so the ends justified the means. 🤮

At least they are being honest. None of this crap that Trump is a baby Christian. Still not admirable, but at least they admit it.
