Thank you! I really wish I could’ve put it in the yoga/dining room, but the breakfast nook made the most sense. And I do like it in there. But now, I want to go ahead and do the breakfast nook, when I’m supposed to be painting the yoga/dining room. The light is literally the only thing I like in the breakfast nook, besides the Meyer lemon tree I’m trying to keep alive during winter.

That light can really define an area. It's lovely.

That light can really define an area. It's lovely. Thank you. Maybe it’s defining the area, and that’s why I’m distracted by wanting to fix that area now? I hope you don’t mind if I end up using that as an excuse. The BM website (I’m still happy y’all sent me there!) makes it easy to choose colors that will work together, so even if I shift to focusing on the breakfast nook, it’s easier to figure out wall colors for the rest of the house. Choosing wall colors that work together even if they aren’t the exact same, is a whole ordeal by itself. For me, at least. I’ll have to paint the kitchen when I paint the breakfast nook because it’s an open area (but not necessarily the same shade or color), and I can just paint the yoga/dining room at the same time, since that’s really the only thing I want to do in there right now. So maybe I won’t be so far off track, if it forces me to choose my paint and get that done in the yoga/dining room too while I’m at it. Going through a thousand changes trying to make sure the wall colors all work together was a big factor in why I stopped painting. I’ve scheduled a vacation in spring, like I’ve done for over 20 years. That has always been my time to do my spring cleaning and tend to random things I want to do around my house. If I’m also going to be painting again this year, I need to have a plan in place before then.

Very petty light fixture, I like it.
Just wrote up a big posting, hit the wrong key and lost it, darn.
Oh well, will do it again later. Finally got my books and am going to read.
I ordered yellow towels, throw rugs, shower curtain, and window curtain for the bathroom. The curtains have blue/yellow/ and white, so not just plain. I looked online for a different picture for over the tub but didn't find anything. I will check out TJ and Burlington when I go to the city Wed and see if I can find something, they have lots of inexpensive decorator items. I spent $200 to $300 just for that stuff. Likely could have found cheaper at discount store but throw rugs are hard to find in certain colors. I need to look downstairs, DD has lavender towels right now but needs lavender rugs, I think I have some.
I had purchased the same style of curtains for all over the house from Pennys, they are very nice. However, I think the ones in the great room are made cheaper, they were the last ones. The others washed well, those don't look as good. I likely should have had them cleaned, but they said washable. 95 inch drapes are expensive, only buy when they are on sale. I have some pretty blue ones put hubs put up new rods and he made them higher so think the 84 will be too short.

I've had pretty good luck with 95" panels from Ikea. I was actually surprised that they were all the same length lol. I had bought from a couple other places and had to return because every one was a different length.

Have you noticed, now instead of 50 wide, they are 40 and even 38", crazy.
Most sell 1 panel, I did get an actual pair from Kohl's when I ordered the bathroom ones.
I'm just curious, has anyone purchased LoveSac brand furniture. It looks interesting. I know son is going to buy some new furniture later and I told him at least take a look at it. You can rearrange it and wash all the covers, sounds like you can also buy new covers. I don't need furniture at this time, but was just wondering how folks like it. Might be something for the basement later.

I love the light. I want it for my dining room. Here is what I have. Ugly. Late 80s vintage (like everything else in my house that I am working on replacing).

I bought a townhouse that was built in the 80. I jokingly told someone it was decorated in eighties ugly. This was in 96! I changed out everything from carpet, wallpaper, light fixtures, etc.

I have some pretty blue ones put hubs put up new rods and he made them higher so think the 84 will be too short. Thank you. I just bought curtains for our bedroom today. I got 95” because the rods that are already there are up high and I didn’t want to ask Mister to move them today. He took this week off work because yesterday was his birthday, and he needed a break from the stress of his job. I don’t want to keep bugging him with house stuff all week lol. Anyway, I bought the curtains, hoping to block some of the air from the windows, because our bedroom is still cool. I would’ve preferred to wait until I figured out what I want to do with our bedroom before buying curtains, but I am OVER being cold. I’ve always read that curtains can make a room look “finished”, now I get it. One window is visible from the hall and the entrance to our bedroom. The curtains make a big difference in how it looks.

I have spare time, but I don’t have unlimited funds, so I’m doing everything slowly. Also, I want to take my time and make sure I get and do stuff I really like. So I completely understand how these things take time. I got the light from LampsPlus. It comes up on the first page of chandeliers.

Put plastic over the windows inside, they have kits, the curtains will hide the plastic. Put caulk around the window frame where it meets the wall, you won't see it, they have it in colors. Look under the big piece underneath, it may have a big opening. Do not get silicon, that stuff is horrible, sticky, and can't get it off. They have creme, gray, all colors except pastels, many are water soluble, so water cleanup. This will make your room a lot warmer until you can do something with your windows.
If you have an older house and it has baseboards, see if cold air is coming in the top of it, same thing, caulk. Use the receptacle insulation behind them. We had an old cold house growing up and mom did all this stuff to try and make it warmer, it did.

I'm looking at cellular blinds to help with our old windows. We bought them from Home Depot (Levolor)and they have lasted for around 8 years. They helped with the sunlight and made the house very comfortable, but I dont like them anymore. We haven't been able to lift them up for a while now, so I want to change them . I am looking at plantation shutter type - get them done once and be done with them forever, but I am hesitating to spend all the money. All of this to say - make sure you use a good place to install them if you don't do it your self and make sure you like them.

We still have the ugly chandelier that came with the house, but I added another "paint by numbers" picture to the dining room. We find it somewhat entertaining to have a fancy house and fill it full of cheap things like my paint by numbers paintings and our craigslist special dining room set. We found an old picture frame at an antique store that needed a bit of work. And my husband stripped it, added some putty, and refinished it, and we stuck my painting in it that I did with my dad. So now we have it hanging with our other pictures. The big flower painting is a real antique, but the ship and the smaller flower painting are both paint by numbers that I did with mom and dad. Someday we will get a new chandelier and do something with the ceiling, but that's likely to be a couple of years away.

Our long term plan for the room will include a new lighting fixture, a bigger medallion, and some kind of decorative ceiling. I asked for the Sistine chapel, and he said no, but he is really inspired by this house that I have pictured below and is hoping to stencil some kind of pattern on the ceiling, but a bit more tame. We want something artistic but not let it hang out quite so much.

resolution, thank you! I love your dining room. I’m kind of jealous that you could use that pretty color on the walls. I also love that some of your art is combined efforts of you, your husband and your parents. Not only does it look great, it’s something you and your family did together. To me, that’s priceless. For anyone else that’s interested in cheap wall art, I read an article not too long ago about making your own wall art for cheap or free. I’m not all that creative, so that had never occurred to me lol. If I can find the article again, I’ll share the link later. IIRC, it included sources where you can print images for free.

I have some big canvases of abstract geometric art hanging in my bedroom that I've outgrown. This summer I have half a mind to paint over them in white and have the kids give me something new abstract art in bright colors that I like. In my mind, this will go great and cost nothing as we already have plenty of paint. Stay tuned.
