I couldn’t stand the table being bare, so I put a tray on it so all the remotes won’t be scattered everywhere. And I stuck some flowers in a container and put it on the table. All of it was stuff I already had around the house. It won’t stay like that, but it’ll do for now. This picture shows a lot of stuff I’d rather not show, like that fugly couch that I didn’t bother fixing before I took the picture, but whatever. If I’d taken it from another angle, there would’ve been even more stuff I’d rather not show.😂 Just keep in mind that almost everything you see is a mishmash of stuff we already had when we moved in, and the room is not anywhere close to what I’d like it to eventually look like. I'm chuckling that you're apologizing for this room. My living room is way more mishmash than this. Love the table!

I'm chuckling that you're apologizing for this room. My living room is way more mishmash than this. Love the table! I laugh at myself sometimes too, because I do realize I can be a little “extra” about some things. I don’t think it’s the worst room ever, the only thing I really hate is the fugly sofa, but even with that, it serves a purpose, somewhere to sit. And I strongly dislike the wall color, even though I’d like it a lot better if it looked IRL like it does in this picture. Everything else, I don’t strongly dislike, it just doesn’t fit my “vision” for the room, whatever that vision is lol. I’m not knocking mishmash though. My job is just a job, my children are adults, and I have a lot of free time (a lot of money, not so much) to think about decor and imagine. I don’t knock people who have demanding jobs, families that require time and energy, and/or whatever else…. and don’t have the time, money or just not the interest to be overly concerned about decor. I’ve never had this much interest in it myself before now. Mishmash or divinely decorated, if you invite me to your home, I’d be more interested in spending time with you than what your house looks like. Well, I don’t do well with nasty, which is different from cluttered and looking lived in….. and has nothing to do with decor. The nasty part doesn’t apply to you, I’m just speaking in general with that. ETA: I forgot to say thank you for your opinion on the table. Thank you!

It would be worth $300 to me.
I paid a high school kid $100 to build very sturdy wooden shelves in my garage. It was worth every penny. Yes, his dad helped him and his dad asked if it was okay via text later.
I also have metal shelves but I don't trust them to hold heavy things like I do the wooden shelves. They are not plywood or pressure board. They are 2 x 4's.

You could stain then poly. I just use it to keep moisture from staining the wood. I have put 2 coats so far on my little tea cart. Hubs took the handle off our old microwave to put on it, so it will match the appliances in the kitchen.
Your living room is pristine. We have stuff sitting around on end tables, being retired means we are home all the time and its not as neat as I like. I have pictures sitting around right now, waiting for my hanging brackets to be delivered.

I have so many framed and unframed pictures. I’m thinking of changing with the seasons. I have a few that are very heavy and just leaning against the wall I want to use - 3 years!!!

I only took this picture to send to my husband and include “Look buddy, I purposely placed this furniture, so don’t move it.” But I figured I’d post it here. 🤣

So, today I discovered “fandeliers”. I love them! I can still have a ceiling fan in our bedroom since we do use it, but the blades don’t have to be as visible as traditional ceiling fans. I don’t care so much about the ceiling fan in the den. We do us that one too, it doesn’t even have a light kit, but the traditional style fits better in there than a bedroom imo. In the den, we have dimmable recessed lights that we almost always keep dimmed, a separate recessed light that we never use that shines on the fireplace, lamps (I prefer the ambiance of lamps and candles) and lighting in the built in shelving. Who knew fandeliers were a thing? I certainly didn’t. But I’m happy I discovered them.

I looked at fandeliers a couple of years ago, but the reviews on how much air they move were bad back then. Maybe they have improved.

I ordered yellow throw rugs for our bathroom today, that ceramic tile is chilly. I also found a patterned yellow/blue/white shower curtain on the Kohl's site. Then I happened to find matching sheers to the shower curtain, what a nice surprise. I have a cheap picture on canvas in there that went with my navy-blue rugs and going to see if I can find something with yellow to replace it, I keep my throw, curtains, and things to change around. I would love to have grey walls, but all the furniture is brown or sort of near the gold spectrum and gray would not go. I
I got to looking around the house and realized how bland it was in here. I have creme colored walls white curtains and since we moved everything around very little accessories or anything with color. I need to change that; I like vivid colors so how did I end up like this? I do have sage green drapes in the dining room, but still not enough color.
I would love to be able to change everything to grays but can't afford to buy all new furniture.

I would love to be able to change everything to grays but can't afford to buy all new furniture. I think gray walls can go with any color as long as the undertones are right. In my opinion and experience, a well chosen gray is just as neutral as beige, black, and white. If your furniture is brown, I think a warm gray on the walls could look very nice. I don’t want a bland home either, so I feel you on that. Even though I keep the big and most expensive stuff mostly neutral, I still like to have a little color somewhere, even if it’s only accent pieces. ETA: I painted the living room at my other house a medium gray as far as being dark, and I loved how it looked with the wood (brown) floor and other wood (brown) things in the room. There are light grays that are warm too, so I’m not saying you’d have to use a darker gray like I did.

I always had bright colors, so not sure how it got so neutral? LOL!

Trying to talk myself definitively into or out of buying this chair set for our master bedroom: chair and table set. It's $400 and we're trying to get rid of things. But this set would define a wonderful conversation area in the bedroom, showcasing its size. And the chairs are extremely comfortable, and could be used in the future wherever we land.

I really like those chairs. That seems like a good price for the set, too. I say go for it. I checked my zip code and it says they can deliver next Friday, so if they can do that for you, thats quick. If they have them in store, that's even better.

Like the chairs and table and delivery included! But I’ve been seeing so many stories about very long waits for furniture delivery so maybe check if in stock and delivery date

I like the angled couch Thanks! I've actually had it that way the entire time we've lived here. Some people think it's weird, but I love it positioned that way.

That room looks so luxe and comfortably serene. I want it. Thanks, I appreciate it. While it's technically the "formal living room", we call it the napping room. Our entire goal was to make it a peaceful space. We intentionally never put any electronics in there.

He did like the sectionals, but I think they are too big for my little house, so no new furniture for me.

I went ahead and bought the chair and table set. They'll be delivered Thursday, which I hope gives enough time to get the Ikea wardrobe out of the bedroom. Costco does the delivery and setup, which saves our backs. They will help stage the room very well, and I can see using them wherever we land. We're not taking much else with us.

The light is finally up! It’s in the breakfast nook. It took a while to figure it out and get it up. I’d never helped hang any kind of light and Mister has only ever hung a ceiling fan. I told Mister that I’d read it was good to cut the wires a little long and tuck the extra up in the box, plus I feel like it’s better to err on the side of too long anyway. Welllllll…… he thought he was leaving himself plenty of wire and cut it too short. He said he could fix it, but it still stressed me out, so I had to take a break lol. He did know how to fix it. It’s just a leeeettle bit crooked and we don’t know yet how to fix that. Right now, I don’t care. I just wanted to be done messing with it for today. It’s going to bug me, so it won’t stay like that long. I like it. I put some 40 watt bulbs we already had in the house in it, and I was short 1 bulb. I’ll go get 60 watt bulbs tomorrow. Even though I was just the assistant as far as the real work, that was not fun. That memory needs to fade a little before I’m anxious to replace another hanging light lol. Now y’all know my disclaimer about my rooms…. I tried to show as little as possible in this picture lol. And I know I need to clean my blinds, but they don’t look like that in person.
